• Dinosaurs to the rescue features young dinosaurs telling readers about the importance of keeping the planet clean. They teach readers that every little bit helps when it comes to keeping the planet safe. Along the way they teach Slobosaurus that there are no good excuses to keep him from using less, using things again, or giving things back to the earth.
• Grades 1-4
• I would this at the beginning of the year to teach my students why we will be recycling and how it helps the earth. This could be used as part of a science class.
• This could benefit individual students that need to learn about recycling and other ways to help the earth.
• I would use this in a literature circle to have students find a way that our classroom can help protect our planet. Each group will present their ideas and a discussion lead by the teacher will follow, leading to a conclusion on what type of project the class will do to protect the planet together.
• I would use this in a whole class setting to encourage students to find small ways that they can do on their own to help protect the planet.

Dinosaurs to the Rescue by Laurene Krasny Brown falls under the nonfiction and picture books genres and is intended for children 4-9 years old. It has not won any awards. This book teaches young readers the importance of recycling and ways they can help our Earth told by the point of view of dinosaurs. The dinosaurs tell the readers different ways we can all help our environment and how we can keep it clean. I gave this book a five-star rating because I have not read a book that teaches children about recycling quite like this one. The illustrations are bright and fun and colorful and help keep kids engaged through the whole thing. Many other children recycling books are not as fun and entertaining as this one is! The only complaint I have to make about the book is the length. I tried reading it to my class of three-year-olds and I lost their attention about half-way through. Granted recycling and cleaning the Earth can be a hard concept to grasp at that age, they still enjoyed looking the pictures and seeing the dinosaurs on each page. I gave this book to my teacher friend who teaches the pre-k class and she said it was a big hit with the 4-5 year olds! Even with the length, I still give this book a five star rating just because of the message it delivers to young kids. We are never too young to start learning how to protect our Earth and what we can do take make a difference. This would be a great book for every Earth Day!

This book is super cute!! I love all of the illustrations in this book, and I especially love how they took up every page of the book. I think this book also teaches a good message!

I had a lot to say during this book. I got a bit upset at the end- perhaps the responsibility of taking care of the whole planet felt like a little too much for me at 7 weeks!

This book talked about the importance of help keeping the Earth clean. It use easy words and ways to explain things, that way children can understand them. The main thing it talks about is the three R's. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This is important to children to learn at a young age. Since the pictures are creative, it helps drag the children more into it. That just makes the child want to read through it, or listen to the story being told. The only flaw to this book is that it is long. I feel like they could have made this book shorter. I would probably read this book to children on Earth Day. It would be a fun way to get children learning the importance of Earth Day and why we have a day for that. The reason the book didn't get 5 stars is because the length, otherwise it was a great books.

Dinosaurs to the Rescue is a delightful book where Slobosaurus a dinosaur shows how to help use the resources on planet Earth in an environmentally friendly manner. He starts with three basic ideas: Use less, Use things again and Give something back to the Earth. The cartoon illustrations are wonderful to get the message across to children and adults alike in Dinosaurs to the Rescue.

Another good earth day read. The story of Slobosaurus and how the other dinasaurs counter his wasteful ways. Lots of re-cycling ideas and things for kids to think about as they use energy and other everyday things around the house.

A bit long and preachy, but otherwise good for teaching younger children the basics of ecology and the 3 Rs. Our girls enjoyed the story and were excited to share their experience with reducing, reusing and recycling materials. We talked a lot about different ways we can help the Earth.

I thought this book is great for children. It puts things about recyling and enviornmental stuff in a way children can understand. The pictures also do a great job of showing how the things are supposed to look like.

I work in daycare. When I was getting the toddlers down for nap, I noticed this book on the bookshelf. I read it while I was patting backs. The book was very cute and informative.

Good moral message. Go green. But once again my boy did not care for it. He did come over to look at some pictures though. =)
