I mostly didn't give it a higher grade because of the dumb title and the tone of this book kind of bothered me, though I can't put my finger on why. Still, good information.

This book was recommended by a friend after my doctor prescribed anti-depressants for my menopausal symptoms, no matter how hard I tried to tell her I'm not depressed...
The first part got me interested, but after a while Mia Lundin lost me.
I don't have the medical knowledge to be able to discern whether her method has any scientific validity, and some parts feel a bit too "new-age" for me. It is very easy to read, even though I am not sure I believe in this kind of self-diagnosis.
Still it's an interesting approach, and the biggest take-away for me was that a lot of women are in my exact situation and it's a question of brain chemistry and hormones rather than psychological disorders.

Really great book. Written sincerely and with warmth. I appreciate the reassurance and kindness throughout, and the practical steps to feel better. It also explains how to ask conventional doctors for certain important tests and how to find a functional medicine doctor if your conventional doctor isn't up to speed on research or if you need more support. I really appreciate the section on adrenal fatigue, which likely underlies many hormonal issues, and the warmth with which the author presents tips for reducing stress and potential adrenaline addiction (just going-going-going all the time!). Other sources forget to mention that adrenaline addiction can cause some of the same hormonal issues as negative stress, but adrenaline addiction may be harder to spot as the culprit because you often feel GREAT running on adrenaline (quick-witted, clear, fast, motivated, speedily happily accomplishing all sorts of things) until you hit a wall. Because you are happy, you may not identify "running on adrenaline" as stress or may not know what behaviors to change/fix. Adrenaline can feel great, but takes a toll if you live in that state. Even happy events can be stressful if our bodies stay in an excited, hyper-aroused state for too long. Her explanations can help us to learn to slow down, while feeling good about the change, because it's so important for our health. Thank you for this great book.

Lol one of the stress buster techniques was to, “try napping different times of the day” - sure, that would be great but most people tend to work or have kids?! A lot of this book seems over the top and unrealistic to me. The amount of supplements she suggests you take is ridiculous.

I'd say once you hit a certain age, hormonal issues rain down on you, but then, I've always had hormonal issues, so...

Helpful read.

Jag orkade inte riktigt läsa klart denna. Den var tungläst och för att kunna ta till sig boken så skulle man ju verkligen behöv göra de olika stegen som hon presenterar. Boken var helt enkelt inte vad jag hade tänkt mig. För mycket reklam för de produkter man ska stoppa i sig. Jag hade trott att "naturligt" betydde något helt annat än att stoppa i sig en massa tillskott...

The Female Brain Gone Insane is about tuning into the natural rhythms of our bodies, and associating our state of mind to those rhythms.

It is a practical guide which provides an explanation of how our hormone levels fluctuate throughout the month, and throughout our lifetime.

The book first describes our hormones and how their fluctuating levels affect our state of mind. Then the pros and cons of synthetic versus bioidentical hormone replacement therapy are explained. And finally, we get a Four Step Guide to return us to the sane being we know we really are.

Female Brain Gone Insane has given me all the tools and information to figure out why I am feeling out of sorts. This will enable me to take control of my body and emotions.

This is a relatively short book with a decent writing style. I disagree with Lundin's highly compartmentalized approach, prefer a more holistic style myself, however I am sure there are women who would/do benefit.

Essentially the book discusses how the fertility cycle hormones affect the female brain, in addition to adrenal gland hormones, and thyroid hormones. There are charts to fill out, suggested blood tests, recommended medications, vitamins, dietary changes; not bad for diy medical care.

Nödvändig läsning för alla kvinnor över 30!
Gärna dessutom obligatorisk för allmänläkare, kvinnoläkare, gynekologer, barnmorskor och psykiatriker.

Finns även på svenska med titeln 'Kaos i kvinnohjärnan'.

Ce livre m'a fait grand bien!
Pour la première fois et même après avoir consulté des médecins, personne ne m'avait pris au sérieux concernant mes symptômes...
Je le recommande à toutes les femmes vivant avec des troubles de spm ou autres reliés aux hormones!

This was a really good book on women's health and common contributors to anxiety and depression symptoms. They are frequently connected to hormones, thyroid and adrenal imbalances- so check this out!

As of now I'm not going insane. (Just an FYI) this book is informative about how the brain works and how different meds/supplements affect it.

Interesting, verrry interesting. Difficult to apply some of the advice as we here in Canada have a different medical system.

A very well organized book which operates more as an introductory guide to discovering the connection (in general) between hormones and brain activity/mood/etc. It was an informative overview in addition to including some personal guide work in helping to determine the reader what (if any) imbalances they may have based upon a series of questions. It was a helpful guide and if you have any experience in researching these topics for yourself, it will also benefit you as a "go-between" in your own journey to wellness.
