Silver Age Flash always sounds fun and inventive, but in practice a whole chunk of these stories can be a slog. But while Geoff Johns was, to be sure, overly preoccupied with the "Rogues" in his runs on the Flash, their introductions do make for a good collection and go some way to confirming that Flash did indeed have the second-best rogues gallery at DC. And all of the stories are by Broome and Infantino! How's that for consistency. Just remember that during this person, Broome usually wrote only one of the two stories per issue, and that the stories included here span almost an entire decade! Reading it, you can easily began to think otherwise.

It’s campy and goofy, and fits perfectly with how the Silver Age was depicted in the 1950s and 60s.

This book collects the first appearances of mostly all of flash's rogues. Some are better than others though the collection ends with them all teaming up and well, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko did this idea of a hero's gallery teaming up together in a group better and first.

Fun collection of a bunch of the Rogues first appearances, as well as a couple early team-ups.
The stories are all pretty short, so they feel rushed, but they more than make up for it with some great art and really fun levels of silver age goofiness.

Great seeing the rogues all in their original outfits, back before they all became serial killers, when they were happy to just rob banks and mess with the Flash.

Loved the Captain Cold/Heatwave story where their rivalry over a girl leads to them almost destroying the city.

Only real gripe is the short story length leaves little room for them to actually give Iris West a personality or explain how she can afford to dress like that on a journalist's salary.

Love the rogues and this was a great collection. Would love to see DC do more volumes.

As I have said many times before. I'm not a fan of the Silver age writing styles. I can't stand the dumbed down plots, stupid lingo, and awkward level of campiness(you know takes its self seriously enough to where the camp isn't really funny bad, it's just bad bad) with that being said, I do however like the characters in a more modernized setting and will suffer through reading something that I'm pretty sure I won't like, just so I get a chance to read a characters origin or first appearance knowing full well that I'll likely never be able to afford to add the particular book to my comic collection. That's exactly what this was for me. I really do like the Flash, and The Rogues. I wanted to learn more and I did. Mission accomplished.

I was going back and forth between 2 and 3 stars, but to be fair, I can't say this book wasn't a fun read. I am not a Flash fan, but these stories were genuinely entertaining and the art was very polished and consistent. It's rare in the comic book industry today to have a creative team remain on a book for longer than 6 months, much less the several years that Broome and Infantino were on Flash. They were able to get a really good feel for the character and tell some great Silver Age stories in this volume. As I said, I am not a big Flash fan, but after reading this collection, I could see myself reading more from the character, particularly by this creative team.
