Rate this book
The ideal picture book for every child’s first plane trip.

Olvina was starting to feel very nervous. “Maybe I should get off the plane,” she thought. “Chickens aren’t supposed to fly.”

When Olvina gets invited to the Tenth Annual Bird Convention in Hawaii, she decides it’s high time to overcome her fear of flying. But on the day of her big plane trip, Olvina’s tummy is filled with butterflies and she has second thoughts. After all, chickens aren’t supposed to fly. Or are they?

This tender and funny story is for children who love to fly as well as those who have not yet had the experience. From takeoff to landing, Olvina’s journey is one kids won’t want to miss!

Got this one to try and help my daughter with her fear of flying and it actually helped me with mine! Haha. I know I have nothing to be afraid of BUT OMG FLYING SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME and this made it seem just slightly better. Recommend for kids or scaredy cat adults. :)

Olvina the chicken has been invited to the Annual Bird Convention in Hawaii. But how is she supposed to get there? Chickens don't fly. Her friend, Will the pig, helps convince her she needs to go. She can take an airplane. Olvina is terrified. But Will helps her to and through the airport. On the airplane she meets Hailey, a penguin also traveling to the conference. Hailey helps Olvina be not so scared. Finally Olvina calms down enough to really enjoy herself.

"Olvina Flies" is the picture book you want when you've got a young kid who's afraid to fly in an airplane for the first time. Chicken Olvina needs to travel to a bird convention by airplane, and she's nervous. She's aided in her travels by a couple of animal friends, both of whom have flown before. Lin takes Olvina step-by-step through the process of taking a flight - with an ending that comforts and reassures. "Olvina Flies" is a warm, friendly, one-of-a-kind picture book for ages 2-8.

Olvina is a chicken who is "chicken" of flying. But one day she receives an invitation to a Bird Convention (in Hawaii) that she really wants to go to and her pig friend convinces her to do it. Along the way she meets a penguin.

I found this book rather dull but Dex (6yo) really liked it.

Illustrations were uninspired.

I liked this book because I found out how Olvina met Hailey and I didn't know that before.

An interesting series featuring Olvina the chicken (in more ways than one). This time she faces her fear of flying.
