While I continue to love the Dark Elves, this episode was darker than the previous three books. Marisol and her Brother Ger have been kidnapped by Evil Rouge Elves.

dark elves

They have been held in a cave and repeatedly raped by the rouges for six days. They are very near death when they are discovered and rescued by Jarak and his crew. Marisol deals with healing and the emotional, psychological trauma of being raped and watching her brother get raped. As she heals, she develops a special bond with Jarak. This book's focus was not only on Marisol's recovery, but how here rescuers chose to help her and her brother recover.

Marisol

I love that the author didn't rush things with Marison and Jarak. It was a nice change for the series. Even though I did miss the hot sex, I was rewarded handsomely in the end.

2.5 I guess
I delayed reading this number after the third one of this series I read and I just didn’t want to get to the end just yet; but looks like that this one was written with a different intention from the author.
I liked that the story was about Jarak I mean, having watched him in Diana and Salin’s story it was pretty sweet reading about him. That I admit. Besides we get to see more of the children of the previous couples.. including Salin’s and Savious’.
The whole thing with the humans was also new for me, that’s true…hello? Elves taking advantage of human boys just for fun? That was brand new information for me. Respecting the circumstances that Marisol and her brother were through, even though their bodies were feeling so good, were totally awful. they were rogues, come on! Getting a sorcerer wouldn’t be a waste of time, don’t you think?
Now, also it was a new development, much more like love in this case , between both of them. They didn’t go the whole process as any elve-human couple from before; but rather go way too slow, which I find pretty sweet and a bit boring as well.
Truemating didn’t happen before the change spell

Oh yeah, about her brother… TOTALLY MORON!!! Annoyed the hell out of me! The only way he found to protect her, was messing up stuffs; and the only way to make her happy , was getting her a new husband; and after everything he shouted to all the winds he ended up being gay!? Oookay! The only time I almost clapped ‘cause of him was …
”Every decision I’ve ever made for you has been wrong. This one feels bad, but”…he shook his head…”I won’t stop you.”

Definitely not the typical dark elves story as I’m used to; but well… just one more book to the end I guess.XD

Inbetween 3 and 4 stars but closer to 4 hince my rating.

Hmm it does get a little dark in the beginning where Marisol and her brother Gerimane are kidnapped by rogue raedjour's and raped with forced pleasure almost till death.

Lucky for them they are saved by Jarak and a few others before they were literally sexed to death. Both Sol and Ger have nightmares and difficulty at first. But the big question is what to do with these two humans so abused by the rogues. Normally they kill the males out right or keep them as sexually playthings for awhile. Females are always captured and spelled for the change to raedjour before the start of the nine-day truemate search.

I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave off saying this; yes it is dark or at least very gray for a bit but it does have a happy ending.

I was a little hesitant about reading this book. Why? I loved the three before it and I knew that this one would take place quite a long time after the events of book three. I was concerned that the characters I loved so much would be, basically, in abstentia in this book. So very glad that I was wrong!

Marisol and her brother Geriman are making their way on the path through the forest trying to escape the guards after them because Geriman killed her husband. And on a side note: her brother is a whiny, childish, pouting fool who needs to grow up and Marisol needs to stop enabling him! They get abducted by rogue raedjour (many have fled the city and the ruling body after Rhae, their goddess, left them) who abuse them sexually for days until they are almost dead. Jarak and his warriors rescue them and bring them back to the city.

Here they are healed and introduced to the history of the raedjour. As you can imagine, Geriman has no use for any of them and his hatred is quite palpable. Marisol and Jarak begin tip toeing around each other and sending the attraction even through Marisol's extreme fear. In an unprecedented decision their ruler decides to let them go because they were harmed so badly he can't see them ever accepting life with the raedjour.

I'm sure you can imagine the ending at this point but I'm not going to spoil it. I'll just say that it was better than I thought it would be and I enjoyed it immensely!

I have to say that while I enjoyed the story as a whole, there are a couple of things that I wasn't happy with in this book:

1. The fact that the heroine's brother was repeatedly raped and took the brunt of the abuse at the hands of rogue raedjour. I get how the rapes were necessary for the plot, and while I'm not squeamish in regards to the m/m scenes, I'm not keen on forced sex.

2. The abrupt end. So, Marisol and Jarak are truemates. And we ONLY got to experience them as truemates in a few pages at the very end of the book. Most of the book revolved around the aftermath of the rapes, instead, so there was very, very little H/h connection as a whole.

Other than that those two gripes o' mine, the series in general has been quite good and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.

Times are changing with the dark elves. This story is a little darker in the beginning because of the events of Sol and her brother but they improve as the story goes on. you can tell that the way the ruler of the elves is running everything it is slowly getting better even with the closure of the portal.

Since there are so many characters crossing over in this book it is sure to say the mated pairs from previous DE books have role in this story, large or small.

The raedjour have been fractured by the loss of their Goddess Rhae, and shattered by the "new" way Savous rules. There are rogues that, when they find humns, keep them for themselves. This is against raedjour culture because being subjected to their sexual appetites without a spell is more pain than pleasure.

Marisol and her brother Gariman are on the run after her brother commits
a crime and they end up having to cut through the Dark Forest. They first encounter rogue elves and are endlessly tortured. When rescued Marisol is physically and mentally scarred. She can be quickly healed but her emotions have Savous questioning his usual methods of intergrating human women into raedjour culture.

Jarek rescues Marisol and her brother. He is tasked with seeing to her daily needs and answering any questions he can without upsetting her. Eventually the scales tip and he loses control. Savous then feels he must make a choice for the safety of his men and the humans.

Questions that come into play are can to people be truemated without the proper spell being set. I like the slight differences that are added to each couples' story.

This Dark Elves has a definite mature quality. I really liked it. The human characters weren't instantly healed, and then mated. I liked the plot of the raedjour breaking into different camps. It brought a variety to the series. I enjoy each book more and more each time.

I truly feel that the books in this series have evolved over the time it has taken to write them, or perhaps it's more accurate to say the author has. What started out in book one as a royal sex fest with an underlying story that had promise, has truly become everything that was shown in it's potential. The story here with Marisol and Jarak is a lovely romance with a couple of glorious sex scenes, but sex scenes that are meaningful as opposed to gratuitous as they could have been. Things are constantly changing for the Rhaejour and I'm looking forward to see where they go with it.

This installment wasn't as good as the others. It was valuable to follow the plot lain out in the books before it. I was able to pick up what has gone on with Savous being Reaja. The couple in the book did nothing for me. Which is unfortunate cause I like the hero, who was previously squire to Salin. I didn't agree with Savous' solution to Marison and Geriman's predictament. I want things to stay as they are. I like them separate from the humans. Ah well, change is inevitable I guess.

Like the others in this series. I enjoyed it. It had a great scene with a fmm and I thought it was very hot! I loved Jarak! He was a great hero and I even enjoyed Marisol. She did over dramatize the situations and I appreciate that in a heroine. So short and sweet.... HOT elf sex and steamy dialog. Enjoyable.

I love this one it's as good as the first book in the series didn't really care much for the second book. For Marisol what a journey for her and her brother. If you like a good erotic and a fan of the series then this is a keeper.

Two of the stars are for the hawt sex alone. Wow! Nice story, nice characters, nice pace, though I'm sure I'd have enjoyed it so much more if I'd read the series in the right order. Well, that is about to be rectified!

Wonderful

I really enjoyed this story. I also didn't realize how much time would pass between this book and the last. I'm loving the new characters as well as getting to know the past ones in detail
