For students aimed 10-13 year olds, this book will inform anyone interested in the intriguing world of the mind. Using cartoon illustrations and clear diagrams, it unravels the complexities of the biological and psychological workings of the brain. Memory, the unconscious, optical illusions, dreams and the strange world of ESP are all explored and different theories of how the brain functions are examined. The quizzes and tests which appear throughout the book allow readers to study the workings of their own brains, while some rather bizarre anecdotes bring the subject to life.

Understanding Your Brain will help you teach students about how their brains work and what happens when things go wrong.
Things they ask is what is your brain made of? What is a thought? How do you remember? What happens when you dream? Learn answers to these and other mind-boggling questions.
The book is 32-pages and has a kit of brain gelatin form, watercolor markers, brain teasing activities, and non-hardening modeling clay. Great interactive use it teaching a dissection club.

Understanding Your Brain is an informative book about the complexities of our brains. Some features include: dreams, optical illusions, ESP, memory, and the subconscious. What I loved most about this book was its format. Quizzes appear throughout the book, which keep the readers engaged and allows them to test what they've learned about their brains. The readers are able to make genuine text-to-self connections. I could use this with an older class for a science lesson on the human body and the brain. It's also a great resource for research projects.

Nice overview for young readers. Easy to understand with a lot of illustrations. Some information
Ion not quite up-to-date ( e.g., missing info on número-genesis), but still well done. My 5th grader is using this book in school, and, knowing my interest in "brain science," thought I might like to read it. I did (read it and like it).

This is a good intro to the brain for kids. It talks about the parts of the brain, and how they work together to help us think.
