Confirmed bachelor Baron Munro doesn't believe in love, much less love at first sight. But what about love at first sound? It wasn't until he heard Jasmine Sandler's voice that he realized his life was missing something.
Jasmine didn't know what to make of the man who haunted her days and invaded her nights. She knew the sound of his voice as intimately as she knew her own.
But...they've never actually met. Dare she take the risk of a lifetime?

Come To Me is a book that asks a reader, "Do you believe in soulmates? In a soul-deep connection in life that leaves you searching until you find the one who makes you whole?" I won't ask you to answer that question, but instead, I will talk about this book.
Come To Me is a quick, but very satisfying read. It's about a man who has had empty, meaningless sexual encounter after sexual encounter. He's searched for something to fill that void inside of himself, in the beds of the wrong women. One day, he hears the voice of a seductive angel on the phone when he calls to complain of an issue with his condo building. A connection is made that very first time he talks to her. He does his player bit, trying to get her to go out with him, unsuccessful, although his mysterious "Jasmine" does flirt back with him. After leaving one last strenous, but unsatisfying bout in a just another woman's bed, he calls her to complain about a car parked in his space, and finally breaks through, getting her to agree with a date. He wants a date so bad that he's willing to fly across the country to see her. From there, it's just the fulfillment of what seems like his destiny.
This is a very romantic book. I am the first to say that I don't really care for modern romance that much, with the uncommitted sex, and the question of whether sexual chemistry leads to love. But I think Ms. Thompson managed to take these sort of premises and really write a story that touched me. Reading this story, I felt a strong connection between Baron and Jasmine that extended far out of the bedroom. I liked that a significant portion of this book was spent with them getting to know each other in ways that didn't involve the physical. Even though they had only talked on the phone for six months, and were just now meeting, I could feel that there was a strong bond between them. The love scenes themselves were romantic and emotional. I liked that Baron was the first one who was willing and able to admit that this was it for him, that he had found his soulmate. It didn't take Jasmine much longer to realize that he was 'the one'. I found the uncertainty about who was going to uproot her/his life to be with the other to be very realistic, and the conclusion they came to, showed their mutual love and regard for each other.
This is my first time reading Ms. Thompson, although I have talked to her and enjoyed our discourse--due to our mutual interest in interracial romance stories. I can say objectively that she has something to offer as a romance writer. She really does know how to pen a story that will make you sigh and feel the romance and the possibilities of love between a man and a woman. If you're looking for a shorter but satisfying read that will remind a jaded romance novel palate of why this genre is your reading material of choice, I recommend Come to Me.
What an interesting concept! Falling in love with someone you have only spent time talking to and have not met. It could happen. I love how the author incorporated the use of the senses to draw the main characters to each other even in the face of tragedy. Although this is a shorter read, the story is definitely complete and I loved it!
Ok this book was a tease! I really, really, liked it but it was just way too short. Why LaVerne? Why must you torture me so? With such a beautiful couple, a good story, great chemistry.. These two just make you want to know what will happen, how their story will unfold and end.
It's a very romantic & even sexy read. But you get the feeling that the story ends right when it's beginning. *pouts*
I would really have loved for this one to be at least 120 pages since it is only an ebook. Not 31.
Is there any way we will have a revisit from these two Ms. Thompson? Pretty please....
I do recommend this read. It's a great, feel good, romantic love story. And very realistic.
I haven’t had much luck with short books and decided to take a chance on this one. It read super quick and I was just pulled along. It was very much a feeling akin to being pulled downstream. I’d love at first sight, or listen rather, existed then this is about how it would happen. I’ve never believed in Soul Mates, but sometimes it is nice to indulge. This book was a quick little indulgence and made me smile.
This is a short, sweet, insta love with a voice over the phone. Confirmed bachelor Baron wants a date but Jasmine puts him off. It's a west coast vs east coast life that doesn't stop Baron from getting on a plane. It hit all the feels!
I loved this story. Wished it was longer. I love the whirlwind romance, but also the time they had spent getting to know each other before we're ever introduced to them. I love that it is an IR romance where the difference in race didn't even take up a page. Stereotypes were gratefully missing. This was just too people sharing an amazing connection, and for a while I got to share it with them. I loved how into her he was, but also, that she wasn't this weak, push over. I loved it.
This is the first book by Ms. Thompson, I've read and now she is on my must read list.
This is story was very well written although it's a short read it wasn't rushed. It is one of those romantic reads that proves love can happen at any given place or time and if you believe and want it bad enough you will trust take the risk and just go with the flow.
This was a quick read. Baron is a confirmed bachelor who falls for a woman, Jasmine, he has only spoken to on the phone. They impulsively agree to meet in person. Their relationship changes very quickly. If it were a love at first sight story, I wouldn't have liked it. My favorite part of the book is that they started the relationship on the phone. They started falling in love before they ever met.
As I started reading this book, it jumped right into Baron and Jasmine meeting. At first, I was like, what the heck, but then the major plot twists happens. I seriously could not put the book down! Jasmine moves to D.C. to be with Baron and ends up in a car accident leaving her with no memory and no hearing. She wakes up thinking that Baron's best friend is who she's with, not Baron. Laverne did an awesome job setting the scenes and making me feel what the characters did. I was rooting for Baron, hoping Jasmine could remember him. I loved the story and the concept, that you can fall in love with all five senses and if one sense fails, you have four other to trigger memories. I feel like the book could have been drawn out a bit longer to expand on the characters and plot but Laverne did a great job telling a story. Definitely a must read!
LaVerne Thompson she did it to me again. She wrote an ace story that grabbed my attention from the first page. This is Baron and Jasmine's story. Their relationship starts of over the phone (I love this element in stories) and progresses to full blown love. Then something absolutely traffic happens in the story that has me losing my mind and screaming at the book and my heart goes out to Baron. This event turns our couple's world on its head. I can only imagine at Baron's suffering!! This story was the BOMB for me, loved it, loved it!
This was a quick satisfying read about finding that missing piece of your soul in a person. Forget about love at first sight this is a story were both h/h fall in love from hearing the other's voice before even meeting one an other. The author packed so much into such a short story and made it work.
This was a great love story about how the sound of a person's voice can resonate in your soul and claim you as "Mine"
Baron and Jasmine were 2 people that fell in love with just hearing the other's voice. A love so intertwined the other that even a horrible accident couldn't blank out the soul infused fire.
Excellent read and I look forward to reading more from this author.
This book was a short read. Umm..... I didn't see this book great compared to other readers. It was short and this book left me thinking about the relationship between the two of them. I thought it be better but I was wrong.
It was a risk for both Baron Munroe and Jasmine Sandler took it l meet each other. They fell in love with each other just by talking on the phone for months and decided to take the risk to meet each other. Baron came to Jasmine by traveling a thousand miles to meet her in person. Without saying so, they recognized each other and confirmed their love for each other. The next step was engagement and moving in together but that accident just threw a mini in their plans. Baron was so hurt over Jasmine's injury and Jasmine was frustrated. All it took was one hot session with Baron to heal her.
LaVerne wrote a sweet quick read romance that had me on the verge of tears. The love that Baron felt for Jasmine was so deep and my heart went out to him with his efforts to help Jasmine heal. LaVerne expertly conveyed those feelings in words.
The more I read the more stringent I become with my grading so I don't give out 5 stars as often. This one gets a 5. I didn't have high expectations for this one since... well I never have high expectations for anything but what a nice surprise this was. Jasmine and Baron somehow found and fell for each other before they even met and their love for each other was cemented when they did. Unfortunately, fate steps in and they are tested but their love for each other overcomes the accident that nearly separated them. This was such a nice romantic story with some delicious 🔞 scenes. I simply adore this story.
I give this 3.5 stars. I read this after reading a few reviews. This is a nice romantic story. The leads are strangers who talk over the phone whenever he has an issue with his condo. She is the manager and returns his flirtations whenever they talk. He eventually gets to the point where he really feels a connection and wants to meet her and take her out. She refuses because she doesn't want to be another name on his list of many. After a persuasive conversation one night, he asks her out and she relents. He asks where she lives and let's just say he flew cross country to MEET HER. On the spot. I was nervous and freaking out with her. She of course feels something for him and agrees to it. I think that a person knows when they meet their HEA, but it's weird and crazy to fall in love and feel like this person is your soul mate with out ever having met. The characters were good, but I wanted to know more about his best friend. Overall I liked this story. It's short and sweet. You'll get romance, suspense, love and sadness and sweetness. I recommend it.
