Very nice visual history book. Great pics throughout and well laid out and written. But then i expect nothing less from a time life book. Grab any time life book up and learn something new! Recommended

Another solid entry in the "Lost Civilizations" series from Time-Life. The illustrations are fantastic and include numerous pictures of artifacts and buildings, both contemporary and from the early 1900s. The text does a good job of summarizing the known history of key Mayan cities, the lives of their kings, and the key stories of Mayan mythology. All this information was painstakingly assembled from surviving inscriptions and texts.

A very informative book about how Western society destroyed and then struggled to rediscover the Mayan society. This book details archaeologist exploration of the Mayan cities and also shows how much was lost because of the Spanish destroying text they deemed evil. If you are curious about the Mayan culture, I highly recommend this book. It had lots of detail and some excellent pictures.

Magnificent! This overview of Mayan discoveries is awesome. It includes some rare pictures from the Carnegie Institute. As well as many more popularized photos included in the pages. A reader who is interested in the Maya will love this book.
