Sleeping with the King was far better than she thought.
On every blood moon, twelve princesses from all over the Kingdom, belonging to different packs, gather at Harmon’s Palace, home to the King of Alpha and where the Hunt takes place. For thousands of years, the hunt had been marked as the game of Queens, where only one of the females gets selected to become the next Alpha Queen, but only after a long trial. Valarie arrived at Harmon's Palace as Princess Sophia's lady but instead, she captured the attention of King Gabriel himself and vowed to have the prize all for herself after one accidental night, where she got the pleasure of her life. Now, ranked lowest in the hierarchy, Valarie must decide where her loyalties lie.

This book sends mixed-messages as far as romance and relationships are concerned. Gabriel is this hot, dominant Alpha, but by the end of the book he has been completely emasculated in a way that reflects modern society's bagging on men. Gabriel has so much potential, but instead of the couple (Alpha Gabriel and Omega Valerie) coming together and bringing out the best in each other the male uplifts the female character who, in turn, lets the male regress to the means, not realizing his full Alpha potential. Disappointing. In this light, Valerie falls short of the strong, female character who snags the dominant male... and the whole plot premise folds in on itself... on some pretty in-your face feminist drivel reminiscent of a musical performance of "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better", but with a trite taste of brown-nosing.
A strong female and strong male uplift one another and rise to their full potential. If the idea was Valerie was a strong female, then why does she settle for the male who shirks his responsibility for a more leisurely walk in life? I dunno... after the first part of the story spend so much time convincing the reader Gabriel was THE Alpha only to 180 in the end just killed it.
As for the writing, it was fun and flirty. The plot did have a pace and flow that was consistent throughout. Though, the author could use a better editor. There were instances of wonky grammar and subtle inconsistencies (like how the Hunt is every 2 years on the Blood Moon, but the Queen says it's been 5 years.) An editor could help with tightening up the story as well.
Not a bad stand-alone novella, but the main reason I gave 2 stars was the 180 on Gabriel and the ending that felt like force-fed feminist BS. I hate the not-so-subtle push for modern gender-ideology to be thrown in books as an apparent afterthought and this seemed stuffed in to "fit". Most of what I rate ends up around 3 Stars for average, so don't take the low rating to mean anything other than "average, but needs work". Most people, I think, would enjoy the novella. It was a fun, brain-candy, paranormal romance with a decent storyline.
It does have quite a few pretty steamy sex scenes... so, not for younger audiences. It's too bad there wasn't stronger character development... the cook, for example, getting more of a role or Gabriel's more torn side bleeding through earlier would've helped with his transition at the end- making it more believable.
I absolutely loved this book and everything that I had to offer. Recently, I have been in such a rut When it comes to finding a spicy book that has a plot and amazing character development. I seriously loved how the author managed to make Gabriels POV mysterious yet entertaining without taking away from his masculinity. Personally, I find male leads that are very masculine and experienced so attractive to read about as Im not one to hop on the idea of inexperienced males miraculously knowing their way around a woman’s body attractive as I don’t necessarily find this realistic even if it is a fantasy romance… I also really liked how you really got to understand Valerie as a character and read her character develop sexually and mentally. So, if your looking for a shifter story with everything that check marks the boxes for a great shifter romance ( spice, action, chemistry etc.) then this is definitely the book for you! With that being said, The one flaw that I personally felt like this book had was the rushed ending. Although, The ending was OK for everything that occurred throughout the book. I personally felt that it was a bit rushed and that certain matings weren’t really explained well or the reasoning behind it. I also found that after the discovery of a certain mating that took place that wasn’t necessarily a ‘ true mating’ in its entirety that Feelings could’ve been explain a bit more.
I also felt like with the new transitions that occurred at the end that there wasn’t necessarily any real depth or reasoning as to why things occurred The way they did as there was not real hints throughout the book that displayed that certain people deserved certain positions. With that being said I still would read this book again and I would recommend it to a friend. Although the ending may have been rushed I do believe that this book has a lot to offer and will definitely keep any reader on their toes!

I liked this story about an omega wolf shifter who goes with her female Alpha to the palace of the ruling Alphas to participate in a contest for becoming the male Alpha's mate. Their are princesses there from all the territories and a variety of challenges are on the agenda. Valerie had never been away from home before and is excited to be with Sophia as her personal maid. The two have been close since they were children and know each other's dreams and secrets. Valerie has no mating prospects of her own and plans to live vicariously through Sophia's participation in the Hunt. That is not quite the way it goes....
King Gabriel is the son of Queen Raquel who has been in power since her husband passed away. Gabriel has quite the reputation as a philandering rake and his mother has told him that he must pick a mate during this Hunt. He has managed to avoid choosing one for the last three Hunts, and really has no desire to do so this time but there are rumors of an uprising swirling around and his single status is one reason for the discontent. He has resigned himself to his fate but he plans to seduce all the princesses before the month is over. Valerie hears him discussing his plans and means to foil them, at least when it comes to Sophia. Unfortunately, she catches his eye and ends up in his bed. The experience has her wishing she was not an omega with no possibility of winning a place at Gabriel's side. She tries to push him away, but he seems disinclined to go. Now what?

I was excited to read this book, simply because I haven’t read a good werewolf book since early Wattpad days and I honestly did enjoy the book.
If you’re looking for a gruesome dark werewolf book, this wouldn’t be it. This was more of a… forbidden love between an Alpha and a Omega. There was no instant “mate” scene but there was an instant feeling they sensed from each other if that makes sense. Like they couldn’t get each other out of their minds.
But like I said don’t go into this book thinking this is going to be some dark werewolf book. It’s literally about an alpha and omega not being about to fight their attraction for each other and how the hero is more than just a scary alpha. In this world an alpha can technically pick his own mate but the lower class is still frowned upon.
I thought the smut scenes could have been a little steamier but I still enjoyed the scenes where they couldn’t fight their attraction for one another. I wish we got to see Gabriel be the King of Alpha, I wish we got to see him all big bad and scary and I get why we didn’t. I just wish he had a sense of responsibility. I wouldn’t say there was a whole lot of romance either, it was a lot of push and pull. But hey I still enjoyed the book and I look forward to reading more of this author’s books.

Paranormal Romance has always been one of my favorite subgenres in the Romance genre, and I was looking for a shifter romance that had the fated mates tropes. Thanks to BookSirens, I found what I was looking for and was introduced to a new to me author, Mia Kerr.
I enjoyed this book by Mia Kerr. The Dual POVs from both main characters, the tension between the two characters when they were together, and the risk of them being caught. It kept me intrigued.
I enjoyed how the book ended. I was surprised to find the twist at the end regarding a specific character.Overall, I give this book four stars and look forward to reading more from this author.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you enjoy Paranormal Romance with shifter dynamics that involve alphas, betas, and omegas, this book is for you.
Paranormal romance has always been a top leader in my reading pursuit. There is just something about the hierarchies that an author creates for her characters, the extreme lives that the shifters choose to live, and how the romance figures in. Mia Kerr has created a story that made me smile. Her hierarchy of Alpha, Beta & Omegas is different from what I have previously read, and I loved that there was a hunt between all the faction princesses.
All that said, I found that Alpha Gabriel was a boor and really had no clue on how a kingdom is run, nor did he really have a care about that. I did enjoy Valarie as an Omega coming into her own as, not only a woman on her own in the capital, but as a woman who knew what she wanted in her pleasure and a future mate. I can’t say this is a slow burn romance, but in my opinion, there was too little romance, and too much fluff.

I truly enjoyed this book. It only took me a few days to read because I couldn't put it down.
I really liked the characters, Valerie and Gabriel. Their affection towards each other was sweet, even though they were trying hard to suppress it due to their different status. But in the end, love won.
It was clever on how the author tied the two main characters together in the end. I did not see that coming (don't want to provide spoilers; just know the ending is somewhat a surprise). I do wish the author gave some kind of hint about a certain character's preference. It just didn't seem natural that the character would suddenly "change." But, I guess the author wanted to provide some sort of "when did that happen" reaction to the readers.
This was a love story and for those who enjoy a good love story, this book won't disappoint.
Tropes- Royal Romance, Cinderella Romance, Reformed Rake
What I liked- engaging characters, world building. I liked the strong women throughout the book especially. And I liked the surprising happy ending for one specific character.
What I didn’t- the idea of a competition to see who will be queen is not exactly new, and it wasn’t done here with a particularly new take on it
Verdict- Even though the basic premise has been done, it’s still worth reading. The female characters are strong and stand out. Recommended.

This was my first time reading any kind of shifter book and I have to say it was a great introduction to the genre! I’ve always been Team Jacob so I knew i’d enjoy a werewolf romance!
The whole idea of a hunt between all of the different pack princesses was so interesting!
I loved Valerie’s character, I enjoyed getting to see her become the badass we all knew she was from the beginning!!
In the beginning I was confused with all of the different packs, I wish they were all introduced and a little information was given about them in the beginning of the book.
Overall I did enjoy this book and i’m ready to diver deeper into this genre!

This is a spicy sweet novel that takes place in a modernized world. The top pack runs like a kingdom with different cities under their control. The combination of a more modern world with the traditional pack dynamics blend nicely in this novel.
My favorite part of this novel would have to be the beautiful imagery. The writing style invited the viewer to see just how gorgeous the world is in this novel. The dynamic between Gabriel and Valarie is great with a wonderful give and take that is refreshing to see in the werewolf genre.
I would highly recommend giving this book a read. It was hard to put down and I read it in the span of a day. I am excited to read more by this author!

I really liked this book. It was very different on many levels from most of the werewolf books I have read and I liked that. The main characters were very relatable. The relationships and hierarchy were very well written. There are quite a few sexy scenes in this book, just in case that isn't your thing. I absolutely LOVED the main male and female characters! I could feel the realness of their feelings and thoughts. Things I wish were different- I wish more had been written about the rebels. I felt it was just tossed in there and was over very quickly. I would've liked more fight scene, background, etc on them and their actions. I also would have liked more of the epilogue. A spoiled Alpha King who thought he could get any woman he looked at and take them to bed, he didn’t want to find a mate, he was happy to go through all the kingdom’s women and sleep with them until he met Valerie.
Valerie was there to support Sophia her friend the Princess and there was no way she would let Gabriel get his hands on her so she sacrificed herself and gave herself to Gabriel.
Gabriel was in for a surprise, for some reason he couldn’t resist her and he wanted to be more with her than to oversee the hunt for the one he would take to make his Queen.
A stormy passionate read with some surprises along the way!

"The Alpha King's Hunt" by Mia Kerr is an extraordinary fantasy triumph. Kerr's captivating storytelling, rich world-building, and complex characters create an enchanting narrative that leaves readers spellbound. With its perfect balance of romance, adventure, and suspense, the book immerses you in a world of mythical creatures, political intrigue, and a hero's journey. Kerr's attention to detail brings the vivid landscapes and magical elements to life, while the slow-burn romance adds depth to the story. Packed with thrilling twists and a flawless pace, "The Alpha King's Hunt" is an absolute must-read, deserving of its five-star rating.

Gabriel and Valerie are the characters in this paranormal romance. The storyline was there but I wish their was more character and world development. While the story was centered around the historic Hunt, the real story is about a forbidden love and the push and pull of an alpha and an omega. Only this alpha isn’t really all he seems. The story jumped forward in time and really could have been developed so we could see just how much Valerie saved the day. I also felt the ending was rushed through and could have used a few more chapters to bring closure. Overall, a good story and easy read.

The king doesn’t want to get married, but he’s held 4 bride competitions before and there’s pressure to make this one the last. As a final act of rebellion he decides he’s going to seduce every single princess before making his decision but the first princess he goes to has a very pretty maid who for her own reasons won’t take no for an answer..
This book was so good!! I love a competition book but our girl isn’t even in the competition she’s just on the sidelines casually having a very hot, very secret tryst with the king! And the ending? *chef’s kiss* Did not end how you’d expect but it is incredibly satisfying and perfect. 10/10 it’s available now and I highly recommend it 👌🏻
⭐️: 5 out of 5 🌶️: 3.5 out of 5
* wolf shifters * royal bride competition * forbidden love * primal play/biting
Favourite moment: the shower scene 😏🚿
Thanks to BookSirens and Mia Kerr for the ARC - all opinions are my own.
Picked this book on a whim, as I was looking for a new shifter romance. And I'm so glad I did. The world building is fantastic and made the characters that much more believable. You could really feel the difference in personality and tone when switching back and forth from Gabriel's and Valarie's POV.
Valarie is everything I think I would be if we lived in a world full of shifters, I love her drive, tenacity and sass. The immediate tension between her and Gabe is *chef's kiss* and watching it build while they both try to fight it is great.
I couldn't put this down! It's an awesome little quick read.
I would have preferred more interaction between val and Sophia at the end once everything was out considering how close they were at the start.
I've never read a wolf book set out like this I've read the alpha of all alpha's kind of books but none of them like this with no violence or over the top dominance which to my surprise I didn't mind!
The spice is good 🌶 the book has description in all the right places the characters are likeable. All in all it was a good read and I'd definitely consider reading more!
Fated mates is your thing and you like a book where they are forced into looking for said mate, this would be a good book to introduce you to a new author. The new alpha king is forced into finding a mate. Even though he personally doesn't want one or feel, he needs one at the moment. Which if you think about it being thrust into a new role why do you want to deal with a new mate. However, every king needs a queen. To make sure he finds the best possible queen for his people he sets a trial. Picks out several princesses. One is our FMC and Omega.
A mating between an Alpha and Omega is considered forbidden. However, as Gabriel makes plans for this years hunt he finds himself drawn toward Valerie who came to assist her Alpha female in winning. The attraction is so intense and steamy that Valerie and Gabriel have a hard time to resist each other. This story was exciting and suspenseful as I wanted to know how it ended and could not put it down until I get there.

The book was really well written and managed to keep me in for majority of it. At parts I did find myself feeling it was a bit slow but aced but then again I love fast paced books. However it takes nothing away from such a great story and the way the author takes the werewolf hierarchy and makes it their own is one I seriously loved.

10/10 page turner could hardly put it down when I started it. Not your traditional mate type of book but so worth the read. Had me thinking of my relationship and how we both act almost like the main characters. The feeling of actually being in the book with the characters and doing everything with them is unbeatable for me and would recommend to people who like the alpha omaga relationships.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s not the usual type of shifter/alpha type book. It captured and held my attention from start to finish. I also enjoyed the twists and turns in the story. I’ve never read this author before but I’m definitely going to be looking into more of her books now. I received this book from BookSirens. I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This book was a great quick read! It had romance, great loves scene in the world of paranormal. Finally had unexpected surprising ending. If you like reading about alpha kings, omegas and their relationships, this is the book for you.

This book was a 4.5 star read for me. I loved the dual POV and the somewhat forbidden love trope. It was such a fluent read too and it kept me captivated. What I loved most about this book was the non traditional take on mates and alphas. It was different than your usual werewolf book.

Great story. The Alpha and the Omega they should not be together but will fate win and have them mates or will tradition win out and they lose each other. This book had me happy and mad and wanting to grow my tablet across the room to try to get the stubbornness out of these two. You will have to pick up this book to find out the outcome, but it is a good read.
Funny, unpredictable even if it is a romance, engaging story and LOTS of twist! Different from other shifter stories which is refreshing which has you intrigued every step of the way. GREAT READ!!!

good writing, slow in some parts - like the aspect of an actual competition ; some may want to ease into this - there is some cheating and i know that can be a TW for some. all in all ; not a bad read.

This is the first book that I’ve read with this author, but I absolutely loved it! I love when a playboy is turned into a giant golden retriever boyfriend for his girl. I wasn’t sure where the story was heading, but I was very happy with the ending! It is definitely not the one I was expecting.
The only critique I would give is it needs to be edited to take out all the mis-laced words. I would think a good editor would have found those mistakes. Love the book though. It was a great read <3
