"His expression could shatter me into a thousand pieces. There is no other way to explain the way he stares at me. Like I am a single flickering light at the end of one inescapable tunnel..."

✔️ Greek mythology
✔️ Titans and gods
✔️ Demigod
✔️ Angsty romantasy
✔️ Found family

I would have rated it two stars if it wasn't for the second half.

The first half of the book was single handedly carried by Epiales. The pacing was extremely slow and the whole plot was boring me. I kept reading because of Epiales. Things started picking up in the second half, which I enjoyed comparatively.

Before I get to what I enjoyed, I just want to point out some things that made zero sense to me.
1. The humans have been slaves to the gods for decades and decades. Now this one girl comes in and starts lecturing the gods to change and they all forget about their stubborn selfish ways and agree. Not only that, the girl has managed to unite them without any troubles or conflicts. Yeah like that'll ever happen (ask Percy).
2. Lack of clarity on the FMCs powers. The first half, I could not understand what she actually does. What makes her the "god killer"? There's no clarity at all, by the second half I figured it out but it doesn't come across as anything special tbh. How can the titans and gods be weaker than a demigod?
3. Kronos. What happens at the end does not make sense to me at all. That scene was carried by Epiales, Ares and Saffron.

Apart from that, I have a really hard time relating to, or understanding the FMC. She has no personality, she is as bland as white bread. I don't like her. At all. Before starting with this book, I thought she would have had more character development, but it's only like 5%.

I like the story and the love interests and the conflicts that are happening, which is why am so invested. I also liked that it was more action packed compared to the last book.

Hermes took a backseat for me in this one. Epiales, of course, was the interesting one. Along with Ares and Apollo having their own moments with the FMC. One of my favourite moments in this book would be when the battle towards the end is happening, with Ares finally opening up to her in a moment when she is lost. I liked the banter between Poseidon, Athena and Hattie.

The ending was an emotional one. I did predict it right at the beginning of the book, but it still hurt.. a lot. The epilogue makes me excited to read the next book.

Overall, it's something that could be better but there are plot holes that I personally would want to be addressed. Still hasn't lost my interest so 🤷‍♀️

"I think I love you, my queen."
"No, you don´t. I know enough about love that it´s about sacrifice. That you´d do anything for the other, to keep them safe, but you only put me in harm´s way."

This is a three POV book, told by the POV´s of Saffron, Lamb and Hermes.

It was a bit sad to me how in this book they somehow just stopped Saffrons education alltogether. They are only continuing to teach her to fight while the poor girl can´t even read or doesn´t even know what Bacon is. I liked to get some chapters from Lamb´s perspective and I liked getting to see more of the huntresses.

I liked Athena as a side character the most in this book and I feel like she had the best character development. However it´s really sad to me how Hades and Persephone literally didn´t even appear in this book after being introduced as more major side characters in book one.

The romance in here also fell flat for me. After being a hint of it in the first book, I thought there would be more in this one, which is not the case. There is a weird love triangle (or maybe even a love square; I don´t know if that one guy was supposed to be a love interest or not) that stays mostly unresolved. I also disliked one of the love interestes very much and hoped for the whole book that she wouldn´t choose him. There are no steamy or spicy scenes in here, so if you are looking for that this might not be the book for you. And I have to say as a lover of a good action filled book, this also wasn´t for me. There are minor action scenes which are also very short and feel a bit uneventless. Most of the book is talks and travelling, which made the pacing of the book feel really slow to me.

Overall it was an okay read that I wouldn´t really choose to re-read.

trigger warnings: attempted rape (not caused by the love interest), kidnapping, torture, murder/war, loss of loved ones

I’ve no idea what’s in these pages but it’s so amazingly insatiable I can’t stop!!

The change to multiple POVs was brilliant as it helped with the storytelling — I love love loved Lamb’s chapters and finally being able to see from Hermes’ perspective was great too. The story itself was so good; the twists and turns were just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Fundamentally, the writing is simple and I’ve seen remarks about the ‘bombastic’ vocabulary but personally I find them apt for a Greek Myth-centric book. It’s still easy and enjoyable to follow despite some … format errors (near the end there’s a few sentences being cut off into the next paragraph but that’s fine).

You know what else I’m weirdly enjoying about this series? The way that it doesn’t shy away from character deaths and gory scenes (there are trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, make sure to read through them). I love, and I mean LOVE, when authors dare to take that step because the angst just multiplies tenfold, the story gets way more intense, but boy oh boy, am I basking in it.

Anyway, big shoutout to Poseidon and Hattie for making me snort on the train, and special mentions to every possible love interest (yes, even you Apollo) for making me FEEL things. This is the first book ever that I’ve read where I couldn’t decide who I wanted the main character to end up with — sometimes I was sure it was Hermes, other times I’m side-eyeing Epiales and Ares. Absolutely insane, and I loved every second of it.

Five stars today and every day.

I was so fortunate to receive an ARC of Horkos from Trish DW in return for an honest review. Thank you so much Trish! Let me start by saying… the best feeling is continuing on to the second book in a series and the book being better than the first! Horkos takes “action packed” to a whole new level! Immediately in the first chapter I was absolutely hooked! Trish wastes no time and jumps right into the action! I LOVE that! I highly recommend this series to anyone who has any slight interest in mythology. Before reading Ichor, I had no knowledge of any Greek mythology, I always found the books boring. Thank goodness my introduction was this series because let me tell you.. it is anything but boring! The world building and action in Horkos is what made me love it so so much. We learn so much more about the universe and the characters that I am STOKED for book 3!!

I was so excited to once again be dropped into this world that Trish so artfully created, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed! I absolutely loved Lamb's POV, and of course Saffron's struggle to come to terms with her power was very moving. I love the relationships Saffron built and the journey she went on to understand her purpose in the world.

I honestly feel like everything was tied up nice and neat with a bow, and then I read the final chapter and was left gobsmacked! I did not see that ending coming, but boy am I excited to see what is going to happen next! Can not wait for the next book to be released so that I can jump right back into this world and find out what awaits Saffron and her friends.

I'm grateful I got to read the ARC for this book, and let me tell you, I was immersed! I was completely into the characters and the world, so much so that I thought about it sometimes even when I wasn't reading, which made me want to go back to reading more. It was gut wrenching at times and got a laugh out of me at others. And the very end had me going WHAT and I immediately needed to know there would be more!

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and it had me turning the pages so fast, screaming and swearing at the characters, threatening to throw my phone… so clearly I loved it. It was a thrilling addition to the story and I highly recommend giving the series a try.
The award for my favorite character goes to Hattie. ❤️

I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC copy and….

First off if you have not read the first book in the series do it now and fast so you can come to this wonderful work of writing.

Second I will absolutely need more of Poseidon in the next book, he has become my favorite along with Hatti.

Once again I devoured this book and I love her style of writing and she has taken the time to research all the gods and goddesses to perfection. She keeps true to their stories but also gives them a brand new story.

If you love Greek mythology then these books are most definitely for you!

Well I’m obsessed with this book & series.
I truly have no words. I finished this one a couple of days ago but I’m still processing lol.

Just know, Trish does it again. Another 5 stars but to be honest, I’d give this one 10 stars if I could.

I loved the multiple POV’s in this book. Especiallllyyyy Hermes because I freaking love him. Ugh 🖤
Oh also get your tissues.. I cried a couple of times but I’m telling you I sobbed the last like 10%

*No Spoilers here!*

This was the first book I ever wanted an ARC for so badly and I got one! It did not disappoint!

This series has the most interesting plot I’ve enjoyed in some time in any book involving Greek mythology. As a continuation of Ichor, in Horkos we get right into the story from the beginning. No long winded recap of what we just read in book 1. It’s as if the author knows her readers will binge read them back to back!

It’s got multiple POV and it’s written in a way I kinda feel like I know who’s pov it is without looking because the tone of the narration shifts. Loooove that. At no point did i guess what would happen next. Unfortunately for me since now I have to wait for her next book.

This book series is a must-read. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC copy of this book, and trust me, you won't be able to put it down. You will be turning pages to figure out what happens to the main female character and what battles she needs to overcome next. If you enjoy greek mythology even a little, this is your book. It made me want to learn more about every God, goddess, and titan that's mentioned. You will feel so many emotions alongside the characters it's as if you're in their shoes. I can't wait to see what the next book holds for us.

I hated having to put this down so I could pack. Each time I took a break I couldn’t pick it up fast enough. I cried, I got angry, I was surprised, and most of all I laughed. I loved Ichor and didn’t think Horkos could get better, but Trish proved me wrong. It surpassed my expectations.
I really enjoyed how this book was in multiple POV rather than us just seeing it through Saffrons eyes. Seeing everyone’s struggles, their happy times, and their heartaches, I felt like I was right there with them. Along with watching their character development, which was amazing by the way.
Hattie is by far one of my favorite characters, and she’s the type of friend I would love to have, with Poseidon being a close second. Their banter always had me laughing, and Amphitrites reaction to her husbands childlike behavior was just as equally funny lol.
This book had me at the end of my seat wanting to find out what would happen next and if I would have my heart broken. Although let me just say that ending should be illegal because now I have so many thought and worries and I need book 3 to be out already lol

I’ve read and reread this one! Gloriously, I received an ARC and I have delved so far into this book already that I’m telling everyone to get in on this series.

If you loved the first one, Ichor, you’ll definitely love the direction this one takes. It was unexpected and paced at a rate that keeps you turning pages! I loved the perspectives, for sure. Was *not* expecting this ending and had to read it all again after finishing it the first time. Love this author and am already looking forward to what comes next!

I was given an ARC for my opinion on this book.

Man I did not see any of that coming. Which was amazing. I love this story of Saffron and how she travels through the Gods worlds. I do not know much about Greek mythology and that doesn’t matter. The way this is Ichor is written you will completely understand everything going on.

I will say I truly hate heartbreak and that is the only spoiler I got.

Go read this and Icor !

I want to start this off by saying a huge thank you to Trish for allowing me the opportunity to read this arc. You have no idea how grateful I was to get to read Horkos asap. As soon as I finished Ichor I HAD to have Horkos. Thank you for sharing your stories with the world and thank you for writing them. Bringing these characters to life with your incredible story telling skills. You’re our story teller 🥰

What an incredible second book this was.
It started off with me already tearing up and ended with me tearing up.

Throughout the whole book the writing style is beautiful and captivating. The use of words was just woven perfectly.
‘At the mercy of the merciless’ & ‘he stands around the dead as if he’s never seen death before’ were 2 of my favourite lines amongst a sea of engaging sentences.

Every scene has a point and meaning. I was reading a scene with a shark (I won’t go into details so it doesn’t spoil) and the next scene made me tear up because I understood the previous scenes meaning. They just all tie together in a beautifully presented bow.

I loved the huntresses personalities. Sika, Akita, Willow, Dynami and Lamb. They are hilarious. Their relationships with each other was fun to read.

Poseidon cracks me up. The fish scene and the sewer rat scene had me laughing out loud. The scene where he talks of his boredom destroyed me with laughter. The scene with him & Athena cracked me up. So many more too. Trust me, you’ll know all these scenes when you get to them. His personality was chef’s kiss.

In fact, all the character dialogues were presented perfectly. None of the conversations ever felt bland or stale. They were all realistic and believable.

I also want to give a shout out to the incredible foreshadowing from scenes in the first book and in this book. They were subtle enough that you won’t think anything of them until you get to the ending.

I could go on about this incredible read all day and night. In fact, I’ve stayed up past midnight just to finish it because I could not put it down.

I won’t stop recommending these books to anyone I can talk to. Ichor & Horkos have easily become 2 of my absolute favourite reads and I can’t wait for the third!

TLDR: this book was phenomenal and you need to read it immediately! If I could rate it more than five stars I would.

"Why do the fates give us soulmates if we are not destined for a happy ending ?"

Horkos is the second book of the ichor series by Trish D.W.
Where the hell do I begin. This book is told from 3 different standpoints Hermes, Saffron, and Lamb. All three characters you are familiar with as they were the main characters of the last book with the exception of Lamb. Lamb is one Artemis huntress. What I absolutely loved about this book was getting to know other gods and goddesses through a different lens. You get to see the FMC struggle but become this badass flower that represents both beauty and her newfound power. You get to see the MMC go from this having this strong godly presence to this crumbling shell of a person who's struggling to keep his flame lit.

I don't want to spoil any of it for anyone but just know that Trish breaks down these Gods and Goddesses and makes them almost human-like even though they are far from. From Athena to Poseidon to Aphrodite to Ares to Apollo and Epiales. Their stories of pain and heartache and reasoning make them seem ordinary and a lot like you and me. My fav inclusion was Posiden. He has this whiney frat boy/ favorite uncle behavior that was so damn hilarious and refreshing.

But! Readers beware. make sure you have a box of tissues and your therapist on standby because as the story develops there is some major ass heartache. You end up at this point where you're getting that euphoric feeling of omg this is happening. Then wham you're knocked flat, you attempt to get up, and boom! Again you're knocked down. The only way I can describe the feelings you feel
Is being at the beach and being tossed around like a ragdoll by the waves. I have fallen head over heels with the Author's way of writing, the ebbs and flows of emotional damage that she creates on paper are pure magic. Please please I beg of you to grab a copy otherwise you will most definitely have major FOMO.

I feel INCREDIBLY lucky to have received an ARC copy of this book.

(Going to try to leave this review as "spoiler free" as possible because everyone deserves to have those "whaaat" moments for themselves. If I could read this again for the first time myself, I would.)

When the first book ended, I sat in stunned silence for an embarrassing amount of time. I cannot remember the last time a book left me with such a gut-punch, "I have to wait HOW long for the next one?" feeling. Thankfully, Trish D.W opened her ARC application and I felt like I could take a full breath again.

I knew that the "dark level" was going to progress with this book but the emotional whiplash of getting to know, learning to love and proudly/loudly rooting for characters that...may or may not make it to the next book in the series...I am still trying to process.

I loved "Ichor" but I really feel like the author found her voice in the first book and used it to SCREAM in "Horkos."

To be honest, I usually do not read a lot of YA books but there was something about the premise of this series that told me to give it a go. And I am SO glad that I did. There is a perfect blend of mythology, fantasy, relatability, and character-driven plots to appeal to anyone (of any age) who currently or previously spent way too much time reading about the antics of the residents of Mount Olympus.

Favorite character: Hermes. (Ride or die but given some topics the author set up, I am fully prepared to have my heart broken.)

SPOILER-FREE SECTION:
This was a fantastic book and I was lucky enough to receive this as an advance reader copy (ARC). I am actually recommending this to my boyfriend and brother because there was so much action and not too much romance, so I think that they would both enjoy it. I loved that we got to know so many of the characters that I loved in the first book at a greater depth. The war scenes were really good. I can completely see this becoming a movie some day.

SPOILER SECTION:
Constructive criticism:
1. When everything started happening, I immediately thought about her parents and I found it odd that it took several chapters for her to finally wonder if they were ok.
2. In the first book, things were leading towards a romance but I feel like there wasn't really any in this book. I liked her heartbreak with her storyteller but I didn't like her reasoning for choosing Hermes. "He's the safer option" just isn't romantic and it makes me sad for her. Like she's settling.
I actually loved the tension between her and Ares.
3. I don't like that her parents always call her "My sweet daughter", I wish they had another cute nickname for her.
4. Are she and Hermes siblings? Is Zeus both their father? Please tell me I misunderstood that part.

Tropes: Greek mythology, Strong FMC, enemies-to-lovers, chosen one,
morally grey love interests

I am extremely grateful to have been given an ARC of Horkos. This is the sequel to Ichor and you do need to read this before going in to Horkos. Horkos picks up directly where Ichor left off and the action does not let up through out. I am not exaggerating when I say I could NOT put this book down- when you thought everything would work out- BAM there's a twist you didn't see coming. The prose in Trish DW's books is so beautiful.
This book includes multiple POV's from a few of the main characters, allowing me to become so much more connected to these characters. I loved all the badass female characters- human and Goddesses- in this book! The FMC Saffron really comes into her powers and realizes her importance to both the future of humanity and the Gods. There are multiple love interests- you get enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, morally gray characters- all the tropes we love. There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book and I CAN'T wait for the third book. This is a completely immersive story, heartbreaking at times but also uplifting.

HIGHLY recommend this series if you love fantasy, Greek mythology, Romantasy or just damn good fiction.

First off, if you're looking for happy life happy world well you might have to keep waiting. I really enjoyed Trish's writing style. She has no problem saying buh bye to her characters. 😈
You meet a lot of characters and there is a new POV that was not mentioned too much in Ichor. With Lambs POV I felt like you got to meet and feel connected to the other huntresses.

I love Hattie. Her banter with Poseidon had me cackling like no other.
Poseidon, I'll smack you with this flashlight if you don't turn around."
"This is my basement! You can't click me out of my own basement."
"Says who?"
"Says me."
"Eh, turn around Poseidon. My flashlight won't feel good against your kneecaps."

There is some banter and fun times but there is also some dark sides of things.

I can't wait until the next book!

Excuse me while I scream and cry and huddle in my corner while I impatiently wait for book 3.

This book had me balling by the end. I was lulled into a false sense of security and some of my favorite characters were just gone in the blink of an eye. Not to mention the pain Saffron had to endure at multiple points between her lingering trauma newfound trauma and just in general.

I love Saffron so much but I have to say I related so much to Lamb in this book. I loved getting her POV. I really want to see more of her.

This book has a good pacing for me between the drama and leading up to it. There are lighthearted moments that draw you away from the darker themes that punch you in the gut. It has a great balance. I was in a bit of a reading Ruta so it took me much longer than I expected to finish this. But I am so glad I did because once I got 50% in I couldn't put it down.

I cannot wait for her next book in the series. I have so many questions that need answering. And I am still rooting for a certain God of War!

This is a book series and author that has blown me away right off the bat. I have fallen in love with these characters, the story and the writing. I had so much fun reading the continuation of Ichor. Without going into too much detail I enjoyed this book from start to finish, it was such an easy read and you basically fly thru it. I’m glad we picked right back up from where we left off in book 1. And we basically got straight into it. And the ending of this one was just like *gasp* I truly did not expect that and now I need book 3 like yesterday. I’m so so nervous for book 3. I didn’t know I would be this big of a fan of cliffhangers but I’m here for this one.

I’m so glad I got to read the arc for this.

Don’t let my reading timeline fool you, I loved this book and every word written. I routed for the love I thought should reign supreme over all others and could not be more proud of the ‘god-killer’ that Saffron has become.

The war against Kronos and the betrayal Epiales had was intense and riveting. Epiales eventual defeat and change of heart was a huge turn-around and made his ending more sad than I thought possible.

Although I haven’t heard anything about a third book, the ending to Horkos is a huge cliff-hanger and I need to know what the prophecy is!

I didn’t honestly think I’d enjoy this series as much as I did. I love greek mythology but retelling and fiction based books can be strange and boring, this series was everything. I loved every bit of both Ichor and Horkos and will forever hold both in my mind as some of my favorite books EVER!

The character development and world building are exceptional.

This book put me through a rollercoaster of emotions.I went from being happy to mad, laughing to crying. There were a few times I yelled out WHATTTT?!?!?!?!?!

It was action-packed and full of twists and turns that keep you invested in each character! There was a lot more heartache and loss in horkus than in ichor, be warned!

My favorite thing about Horkus was that we got Lambs (a huntress) point of view, which led us through a lot of the action-packed scenes in the story!

I first want to thank the author for a copy of the book, in exchange for my honest review.

Trish does a beautiful job picking up right where the first book left off. Each chapter had more and more excitement than the last, that it was hard to stop reading. I kept finding myself going, one more chapter. One more chapter!

In this book, there a two new points of views from characters from the first book. I was not expecting to get so attached to one of them. As much as I love Saffron, I related more to the other female in the book.

I felt all the feels with this book, and a few tears came out as all. The ending also caught me off guard in an amazing way, because now I need the third book. I can't wait to see all of that Trish has planned for the third.

This series is a must read. I can not recommend enough that you pick up this book. You will not be disappointed by this amazing author.
