Tom Fletcher is one of the UK's most popular children's authors. Tom's books have been translated into 41 languages and to date he has sold over 6 million copies of his books in the UK alone, and 10 million globally.
The Christmasaurus was the biggest debut children's novel of 2016 and was shortlisted for a British Book Award. Since then, Tom has published several more chart-topping children's novels, including The Christmasaurus and the Naughty List, The Creakers and the instant number-one bestseller The Danger Gang.
For younger readers, Tom writes the incredibly successful Who's in Your Book? picture-book series and is one half of the author duo behind the Dinosaur that Pooped picture-book series with bandmate Dougie Poynter.
For older readers, Tom co-authors the Eve of Man series with his wife, Giovanna Fletcher.
As well as his career as an author, Tom is also a founding member of the Brit Award-winning band McFly, which has sold over 10 million records worldwide.
The same format as the others in the series, and yet still the same. I love the illustrations, the text is just enough. I love that the book is interactive and that it lists actually names of dinosaurs. Feels like it could be adapted to be a perfect storytime book.
Good grief! Fans of the previous eight books in this series will definitely want this picture book, which features a dinosaur and digital artwork that's easy on the eyes. As with the previous ones, readers are encouraged to be interactive as they read the book, trying to use inside voices, tap parts of the pages, hum, count, wave, blow, and even make a silly face, as they try to avoid waking up the big dinosaur who is sleeping somewhere in the book. Although there are several places where quietness is needed, the book also encourages young readers to "STOMP AND ROAR!" (unpaged) at appropriate points. It's a good thing, too, since it's hard to hold onto all that energy forever. This book might help youngsters understand how and when to regulate their volume, something that I sometimes struggle(d) with as well.
Keep in mind I’m a speech therapist so this is a bias. This is one of the books in the There’s a _________ in your book, but this one focuses on using an “inside voice “ and quiet interactions with others. I’ve struggled teaching this concept so I will be using this book to help. Besides it’s cute book that encourages engagement by asking for participation such as saying hello quietly to the characters or waving.
This book fits right in with the rest of the series, only this one focuses on using inside voices and staying quiet so we don't wake the "Big Dinosaur" in the book. Don't worry, there's still plenty of opportunities for moving and shaking and being interactive, including a few chances to dance and ROAR! This one is sure to be a hit at story time.
This is obviously a storytime winner. The only real question is why other publishers haven't been actively copying this type of book structure when this is the 9th book in a very successful series. There can never be enough interactive books that have the right level of engagement for toddlers.
A good book. I love the illustrations and the actions you could do whilst reading this book with a child or children. I like Tom Fletcher and I’m looking forward to reading more of his books.
