Blood Day. The deadly graduation ceremony that dictates who I will become in this world run by vampires and lycans.
There is no escape. Nowhere to run. Obey or die.
My name isn’t relevant. My identity fails to mean a thing. It’s my scores that count. And Master Cedric is hell-bent on failing me.
I bow. I beg. I crawl. But nothing is good enough for the ancient vampire with cruel dark eyes. He wants me to bleed exclusively for him. Yet that’s not how this society works.
I can’t fail. My life depends on it. I will fight until my last breath. Even if that means dying on my knees before the vampire god who rules my classroom.
Welcome to the future where the superior bloodlines make the rules. You’re about to enter the Blood University world, where humans have no rights. No choices. And there are no second chances. Proceed at your own risk.
USA Today Bestselling Author Lexi C. Foss loves to travel and write in supernatural worlds. Paranormal romance is her favorite genre, but she dabbles in contemporary romance when she needs a break from the darker side of her mind.
Coffee is her addiction, swimming is her passion, and she has a not-so-secret adoration for eclipse chasing.
Lexi can be found on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
This is a dystopian dark romance set in the blood alliance world. Here lycans and vampires are top of the food chain and the humans under their control are relegated to cattle. Their purpose to serve as amusement or food to their supernatural masters. Lily is a human attending the blood university where humans are trained to serve; failure means death and the only way to achieve immortality is the annual blood cup where two humans are selected each year to join the immortal ranks.
This is not lily’s fate especially if Master Cedric a vampire teaching at the school has his way. From the instant he spy’s the little human he wants and craves her. He foresees her path forward at best a harem or breeding camp at worst a painful traumatic demise by setting her up to fail at least her death will be kinder but Cedric didn’t contend with his own feelings or his inability to cause lily any true and lasting harm.
Cedric can be cold and cruel like all Immortals that much is obvious lily is initially akin to a new toy that he has a fascination with he sees his methods and cruelties as a kindness against a much worse fate. He constantly fights a battle over whether he wants to save or condemn her and though he has decided her death is inevitable and probably a kindness he can’t help but wish for something more.
Lily knows she needs to comply to survive but the more time she spends around master Cedric the more confusing things become for her. Taught all her life to be subservient he wants the complete opposite from her but with the final reckoning fast approaching lily and Cedric’s days are numbered.
This is a fascinating world it’s cold and cruel and full of so much darkness the humans here are literally disposable and at the whims of their immortal overlords it will be interesting to see how these two are going to achieve a future together with the odds so firmly stacked against them
This is part one of a duet with the second part already released so no waiting. Though set in the same world as the ongoing series it can be read as a stand-alone with no issues. Though obviously, a prior understanding will definitely enhance the experience and the series as a whole is seriously amazing with some fabulous world-building so I do wholeheartedly recommend reading it.
As expected this was well written and very absorbing be aware the world is a dark one, one where humans are firmly on the bottom rung and where survival is the game to win. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Blood Day Part One.
“You’re like a pretty wilting flower, trying so hard to bloom beneath the midnight sun.”
I love the Blood Alliance series by Lexi. And while patiently waiting for the last book to be released, Blood Day was a great way to get back into the world!
The world Lexi created is so interesting, and kinda a great commentary on some social issues (but I read it for the smut, tbh hahaha)
Blood day takes place around the time the first two/three books do, and I loved to get a more detailed view into the horrible academy humans are being forced to attend, only to await an even more hopeless fate at the end.
This book is about Lily and Cedric, and I loved their slowly developing relationship. Lexi always gives us a lot of spice, but without it taking over the entire plot. Don't get me wrong, this is hella spicy, but the story is also captivating af.
🗂Genre: Paranormal Romance 📕Type: Duet, Part 1
🏷Tropes: - Dystopian world where vampires, Lycans rule and mortals are slaves - Teacher x student/ University - Vampire x Human - Dislike to Lust - Spicy spice with biting
⚠️Safety: mistreatment of humans, dub-con, non-con (not between MCs), blood-drinking, psychological conditioning of humans
Blood Day gives us a glimpse into the life of humans that attend the Blood University to prepare them for Blood Day and their futures, wherever they may be assigned. This book focuses on a particularly mercurial vampire named Cedric and a human he’s helping to train at the University that he’s nicknamed, Lily😁
A great start to this book and a further glimpse into the Blood Alliance world and how things work in this new world order and I can’t wait to see what happens next😉 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
Blood Day Part One is Book 1 of 2 in the Blood Day series by Lexi C. Foss and was an amazing introduction into this captivating world of fabulous characters and was absolutely riveting!!! In Blood Days be prepared for a world where superior bloodlines make the rules and fate decides your place in society, it all comes down to one day: Blood Day. A day of reckoning that occurs on your graduation ceremony at Blood University. A day that dictates who you will become in this new paranormal world of vampires and lycans and where humans, like our heroine, are treated like cattle and essentially have no rights…
This is the story of Cedric, a vampire at the university that secretly covets something he shouldn’t—a human. A human, Prospect Four Hundred and Seven, Year One Hundred Seventeen, whom he’s secretly christened as Lily that in a perverse way of trying to save her ultimately works to destroy her by failing her at every turn in order her to keep her off others taxes and offer her a quick, painless death. Even if it hurts him in the process.
Lily meanwhile is unaware of his motives and only knows that he has it out for her—which only makes her more determined to land a spot as a Vigil, a protector in combat regardless of her size or her scores.
So what’s a human girl to do at a university where the only thing that matters are your rankings and where the master vampire seems he’ll bent in destroying you and always finds you lacking? You fight at all odds and hope you come out the otherwise alive…or you die trying.
This first part really sucks you in and is really setting up the story. It did take me a while to get into the story if truth be told but by the 5th or 6th chapter I was invested.
So we have these two characters Cedric, the vampire and Lily, a human project that upon Blood Day can be earmarked for various servitudes, projects or even death. It all depends on her abilities, advantages, her performances and aptitude.
Cedric sees Lily, wants her but is unable to keep her through a variety of obstacles, the main one being that it’s forbidden for a vampire to “keep” a human.
What ensues is a tentative lust story. One that seems to build and build.
It really is an original take on vampires and humans which I found highly entertaining and brilliant to read.
4.5 Stars! Overall, I really loved this! For some reason, this one took a little bit to grab me, but I really couldn’t even tell you why. In this vampire/shifter universe, humans are little more than cattle. Very clearly the less powerful, and wholly under control of the supernaturals that use them, not even given names, but prospect numbers. Except Cedric is intrigued by one of his students at Blood University, and he finds himself calling her Lily, and inexplicably wanting to protect her from what is inevitably a bleak future. But Lily has her own goals, she wants to be a vigil, and is determined to work as hard as she can to achieve that goal. She unfortunately doesn’t realize that most humans already have their paths generally selected for them early on, and there is very little they can do to deviate from that. What she also doesn’t realize, is that her goals are pushing her towards a much more brutal path, one that Cedric doesn’t want to see her go down. When she stands up for herself, just a little, Cedric takes it upon himself to steer her down the path he thinks will be the least difficult. But the more he works with her, the more he realizes that maybe he just wants her all to himself, even if that seems to be impossible.
Lily has been indoctrinated her whole life into this very submissive role to the superior supernaturals. When Cedric starts showing her kindness, she doesn’t understand, and is constantly second guessing his motives. It doesn’t help that he’s probably just as confused by his feelings as she is by his actions. It’s an interesting push and pull, fueled by crazy chemistry, lust, desire, and hope. The first part of this story is such a great set up for one helluva romantic and sexy story arc.
"Try not to dream. fantasies don't exist in your world anymore"
Be prepared to experience the full spectrum with Lily and Cedric I was swinging from anger, outrage, and exasperation to hopeful and overheated 😶🌫️ I can't count the times I wanted to peak ahead, just to reassure myself, or wish I could reach in and knock some sense into or out of ;() someone
"I don't want to play anymore" Lily is a prospect something thousand - she is actually nameless beyond her number. Just another prospect being trained and judged for where/whom they will best serve That was until Cedric... Now she's facing a reality that she is far from prepared for But if he's telling the truth She's got nothing to lose
"ask me for anything else and it's yours. But please don't ask me for death" Cedric may just be one of my favorites from this series He's bored of living the easy way No real challenges anymore - Sure they have the occasional hunt but their prey is weak and lacks any real desire to live - The fight is all but wiped from them Until his Lily
This does deal with some darker themes - human cattle, brainwashing, noncon, blood - lots of blood, etc... So if that is not your cuppa you may want to pass For the rest of you Holy cattle!!
So far, part one has taken me on all kinds of emotional ups and downs. Anger at the stupidity of Lily’s actions to admiration of her bravery. Complete disdain at the apathy of Cedrics character to utter shock at his ability to be vulnerable. I like how patient Cedric is with Lily especially considering all of the mental gymnastics he unknowingly puts her through. Lily is very headstrong and isn’t willing to just sit back and allow her emotions, let alone her life, to be played with. As far as the steam there is plenty. This book starts off hot and gets even hotter. Chapter 10 is one of my favorite chapters. I can’t wait to see how part two plays out.
This was a very fascinating reading, I couldn't wait until it's release on audio, and even though I have a thousand things to do I made time to read at every opportunity I got, and let me tell you I don't regret it a bit.
Though set in the same world as the ongoing series it can be read as a stand-alone, in this book we see what life is like at the Blood University the humans attend to, rather than what happens in the "outside world".
The book was well written, it's very hard to put it down, because you want to see more of the relationship between Cedric and Lily, all the push and pull . So greatful part 2 is out now or I would die waiting for it.
I can’t express how much I fucking loved this book, i finished it within a few hours and am yet to read part two but I had to express how much I loved it from the very first page! Icl I was very sceptical because it was a vampire romance -not normally my preferred trope and I have never read any book of this authors but honestly it was so worth it. So beautifully written. It kinda made me re think once I found out his name was Cedric but all is well and he is bae now 😍
Great to be back in the Blood Alliance world,, Lexi writessuchwonderful dystopian PNR books. In this story we are very much focused on the lives of the humans at the Blood University. Then there's Cedric, the vampire who has been training Lilly and the other humans. I love not only the spicy romance in these books but also the political intrigue within the vampire and lycan society. Going straight over to read part two.
I found this hard to get through as I am not a fan of novels with sexual slaves. I especially am not the biggest fan of an alternate world where all humans, those left, are mostly sexual slaves. I appreciate the author not going too in depth into the sexual favor classes. Probably would have DNF’d the book if it did.
All in all, I didn’t hate the story and I am intrigued enough to wonder how it ends. I’m not sure what I was expecting when I started this, but I didn’t get it and somehow got more.
While I don’t like the universe, I understand the MMC and love how he is genuinely trying to do the best for her. His way of going about it may be wrong, but I can connect with him. He is the main reason for my rating.
This was deliciously sinful. I hope Master Khalid joins the fun. This is a dystopian world where humans are on the bottom and vamps and Lucan’s rule the world. We see a Master vampire who is going against the order and is enamored by a human. The human is there to serve or die.
I really enjoyed Blood Day Part One. This was a bit different than previous reads I’ve done of Lexi’s and it did not disappoint. I was hoping for a bit more relationship building between the FMC and MMC, but can’t wait to continue with Part two.
I highly recommend If you’re looking for a sinfully short spicy read.
Lexi Foss never ceases to deliver. Just like all the other books I’ve read from her, this stand alone for the blood alliance is amazing. Her ability to create relationships and character development while progressing through a story and not providing too much unnecessary details so that the reader can fill in the blanks with her own imagination is superb!
I have been so eagerly awaiting this book’s release! It was first brought to us by Kindle Vella slowly releasing one chapter at a time. I forced myself to wait until the entire duet was complete, knowing how much I would be driven insane having to read it by little bits and pieces. Patience is NOT my virtue when it comes to reading. Let me tell you that this gem was worth every second I couldn’t sink my teeth in! (Pun definitely intended😁)
Cedric is no doubt, an ancient vampire that has seen the world change from old times of humans ruling the world and lychans and vampires “living” in the background to a newer world run by the superior beings while humans are nameless slaves to these beings. This way of life is stagnant with no excitement, that is until he met her. His Flower, his Lily. His reason to exist. Even if it is to kill her and give her a quick and painless death, to keep her from having to live a painful, torturous and enslaved life.
Prospect Four Hundred and Seven, Year One Hundred Seventeen, is determined to land a spot as a Vigil, a protector in combat but little does she realize that she is just too small. Unbeknownst to her,Master Cedric, her professor, will continue to fail her in hopes of leading her down a different path. She is strong and resilient which may be detrimental to her life. Will her will be her downfall? Can Master Cedrick resist this little meek, withering flower? Let me tell you this story is 🔥🔥🔥! And I CAN’T WAIT for Khalid’s story!!
So I have read Lexi's other book called Royally Bitten. It has the same over tones and even has the same sort of plot. Blood day, a vampire that wants to protect the female main character from the immortal games because she would never have been chosen to be immortal, even being called numbers instead of them having a name and the grades in certain areas.
I don't know which book was published first, but I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to read part two. I like that Lily is gaining her own voice and that Cedric wants her to come out of her shell.
