As a reader, I usually enjoy the thrill of a good mystery book; however, I did not enjoy this book very much. while there were some admirable qualities about it, I felt it was predictable and a very dry read. I know that this is a short chapter book meant for beginning readers, so I attribute the simple sentences ans overall structure of the book to this. I believe that children would love this book because they can relate to the main characters because they are probably around the same age. they would love the idea of the adventures Jigsaw Jones and his friends go on during his cases. The one part i enjoyed was the fact that it brings a sense of the past to the readers attention; the older jokes Jigsaw tells, the sense of a old style of detection, etc. I found this book would be appropriate for beginning readers because I could see the author falling into a pattern when writing all of these books and the simplistic structure of the book overall.
Jigsaw's partner Mila had the chicken pox in this one, so he had to rely on his loyal but dippy friend Joey to help him. A lot of misunderstanding hijinx ensued!
