These profiles of famous literary characters are fascinating, it helps to bring a deeper understanding of characters we've spent decades coming to know as well as our own families. This group of profiles are very useful in understanding the author's thought process when creating such memorable protagonists, we follow these characters for sometimes numerous decades and still find fresh eyes in which to view them while still thrilling to their adventures. Jane is a delightful character in a multiple ways, and being treated to a peek behind the curtain is a triumph, providing answers to questions we didn't even know we had. Whoever came up with this idea should be receiving a huge bonus; I personally would like to thank the person who helped me to further understand my fictional icons. This is a short snippets which is completely invaluable, a remarkable accompaniment to the narrative for either a new reader or one like myself who's been present from the beginning. I will be checking out more of these in an attempt to determine if I should look into other writers whilst I wait for new tombs from my old faithfuls.

This short story is an introduction to the main character of the series, Seneca tribe member Jane Whitefield, and it is effective in allowing a longtime neighbor of Jane's (and old friend of her father) tell two women about her past, or what he knows about it. The action adds the requisite urgency, and the resolution shows Jane's badass nature. Given the graphic violence, I can assume the series is just as gritty. (I haven't read anything by Tomas Perry before.) I do find the character and series premise interesting: Jane helps people who are in danger disappear, a sort of private witness protection program. This seems more thriller than mystery, and sometimes that is just want I want to read.
I have not read any Jane Whitefield books. I read these profiles to get acquainted with the characters and to see if I want to read the books afterwards. This profile convinced me to pass on the opportunity.
Apparently, Whitefield is a native American who helps people in need of help. That’s it. This profile did not reveal much in the way of character, or personality of Jane. In fact she only appears in the story on the last page.
Maybe the books are okay, but don’t expect this profile to give any indication of their worth.
This isnt really a profile as it is a short story with details. Fascinating all the same and a wonderful addition to the series. Thomas Perry has a keen sense of the Seneca as well as the american psyche (in all of his books). I have read them all, as well as collecting as many as possible, so I am a bit biased. I always look forward to the next book.
The concept of this series is intriguing, though as I’m more interested in the characters than the authors, this was one of the few that seemed to focus only on the main chatacter, and with new content. But the new content was skeletally thin. And if you’ve read the first two or three Whitefield books you won’t learn anything new here.
Here is a chance to learn how Jane got started helping people disappear. So of that background is revealed in the full length novels, but there are enough new tidbits to make this worth reading.
I’ve read every book in this series and loved them all. I’ve also wondered how she got started and why. I’m deli to finally have my questions answered. These books have a unique premise and a great protagonist.
A short story describing Jane Whitefield,s background as told by runners she had helped hide who were captured by Bounty Hunters. A good starter for the series.
