A Love Like That

Rate this book
After my wife died, I never expected to fall in love again, let alone with her much younger sister.

Elle's too young for me, though.

Too vibrant and cheerful to be saddled with a grumpy widower and two little kids.

Besides, she's only here for a few months before she moves on to follow her dreams.

And there's no way we could be together even if she were staying.

It doesn't seem to matter how often I remind myself of all the reasons why we can't, or shouldn't be together, my body won't listen.

Ever since Elle moved in, all I can think about is her. All I want is her.

She restored order to my home. She got my kids to smile and laugh again. Even I'm smiling more.

For the first time since my wife's death, I feel alive, hopeful.

I already said goodbye to my childhood sweetheart, my wife, and the mother of my children.

And I know I have to let Elle go; I'm just not sure if I can.

Jenna Hartley is USA Today bestselling author who writes forbidden romance that feels good, much like her own real life love story. Her stories feature strong women and swoon-worthy men, as well as sexy, sweet, and laughable moments that reflect real love.

When she's not reading or writing romance, Jenna can be found tending to her growing indoor plant collection (pun intended), decluttering (just ask her husband about "The Great Purge of 2015" as he calls it), and hiking. She lives in Texas with her family and loves nothing more than a good book and good chocolate, except maybe a dance party with her husband and daughter.

Jenna Hartley sure knows how to bring the forbidden!! I was rooting for this romance from the very first page even though I knew it was going to be messy and complicated and you know what? It was worth it.

Widowed single dad Tristan has had one heck of a year and he's just trying to get it together for the sake of his two kids. Everything feels different now that his wife is gone and he's trying to navigate this new world where she's not in it and take care of his kids. Knowing that he needs help, Tristan decides to have his sister in law move in while she finishes her degree. With things getting back on track and feeling like he can breathe for the first time, life is perfect. What could possibly go wrong? Temptation that's what.

I knew that I was going to love the forbidden aspect of this story but what I didn't factor in was how much I was going to fall in love with the kids and their family dynamic. I loved everything about it. I was there for the heartbreak, the snuggle times, the breakdowns, the heart pulsing attraction, the warmth and the unbreakable bonds that turned into love. My only issue was that it felt rushed towards the end and certain things were wrapped up a little too neat and quickly for me but overall this was a solid read.

If you're looking for forbidden romance with all the feels, then this one's for you.

4 Star Review A Love Like That (Alondra Valley #3) by Jenna Hartley

A Love Like That was an emotional read that ticked a number of boxes for me. After the death of his wife, Tristan has been struggling to keep it together for his children Savannah and Maddox. Now he is finally coming back to life and it’s about to become extremely complicated.

His sister in law Elle, moved in to help out and now feelings for one another are becoming involved which should be taboo based on their connection; however the heart wants who the heart wants.

This book pulled a variety of emotions from me whilst I was reading. There was so much heartache, pain, guilt, uncertainty and grief. It was also a story of hope and finding love again when you least expect it. The sensitive nature of the subject matterwas handle with dignity and respect.

The chemistry that ignites between them was steamy and the twists and turns kept me invested in A Love Like That.

Right from the start I was drawn back into the Alondra Valley world and I quickly fell in love with Tristan and Ellie. I found myself so invested in their story that I was stealing every available moment to sneak in some reading with this one.

This little family would have to be one of my favourites I’ve read. Savannah, Maddox and who could forget Rex and Hedgie - this bunch is full of mischief and I loved every minute of it.

Coming into this one, I wasn’t sure how I was going to find it. I’m not always a fan of stories with a grieving widow, especially when you’ve come to love the lost spouse in previous boons of the series, but Jenna Hartley did a fabulous job with this and I highly recommend adding this book to your must read list.

I knew I wanted to read A Love Like That by Jenna Hartley as soon as I read the blurb and I am so glad I did. I have read several books by this author and loved them. Just like this one. Though this is book three in the Alondra Valley series, it can be read as a standalone. I did and enjoyed it and did not feel lost. This was a second chance at love, age-gap, single-dad romance with a twist. Tristan had his happily ever after. The wife, the kids, the house. He was happy. Then he lost his wife and he was having a hard time finding his new normal. When his sister-in-law, Elle, is back in town, he is happy to have her help him. What he never saw coming was how good she was not only for his kids but himself as well.

I absolutely loved Tristan. He was strong, determined, caring and protective, but after the death of his wife, he was a bit lost and broken. His children, Savannah and Maddox, were what kept him going. Elle left home and never wanted to look back. She loved her sister and her family, but her own relationship with her parents left a lot to be desired. She always felt she lived behind her sister’s shadow. She never saw how strong, beautiful, and amazing she was. But for Tristan and the kids, she would put everything else aside and be there for them. I loved her relationship with the kids. As Tristan and Elle spent time together, lines begin to blur and they found comfort and a strong connection in each other. But what would others think?

This was a forbidden romance and emotional and angst-filled, but it was also about grief, loss and second chances. It was about learning to let go and finding hope. I loved watching them fall and grow together and how they always put the kids first. But Elle had her life planned out and it did not include staying in town, right? Tristan was older, had the kids, was too rooted, right? Could they ever truly be together? I absolutely loved the characters, their journey, and this story so much.

Happy reading!

Tristan is a single dad and widower. He is struggling with grief after losing his wife. Ellie is his wife's younger sister. After losing her visa she returns home to the small town of Alondra Valley. She doesn't have the best relationship with her mom, when Tristan offers to let her stay with him and help care for his two kids she takes him up on the offer.

This story was a roller coaster of emotions. You have two people not only connected through grief but also pulled together by chemistry. I appreciated the approach the book took in this forbidden romance. Both characters recognized their feelings and what a public relationship would mean.

This is a heartwarming read that will touch your emotions. There is humor and banter and plenty of spice. The kids and dog were absolutely lovable. There are a variety of characters that bring a lot to the story. I love how Alondra Valley takes place in the same world as other books by this author. The interconnected characters are always fun to see.

This is the 3rd book in the Alondra Valley series. It can be read as a standalone. Tristian and his wife's death are mentioned in the previous book.

Pick this up if you enjoy single dad, taboo (sister's husband and age gap) forbidden romance books.

Title: A Love Like That
Author: @authorjennahartley
Book Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice:🌶🌶🌶

What to expect:
·         Forbidden romance
·         Forced Proximity
·         Age Gap
·         Widower/Single Dad
·         Late Wife’s Younger Sister

Loved it! It felt so good to be back in the AV (Alondria Valley). I absolutely adore this series. Book three is Tristan and Ellie’s story. Tristan has lost his wife (Tessa), and is grieving the loss, along with his two children.

Ellie (Tristan’s young sister-in-law), loses her visa and is forced to return back to AV from Australia. With nowhere to go for a while, Tristan convinces Ellie to move in with him and the kids. After doing so, Tristan realizes Ellie’s brought purpose in his life, and finds it hard to quell his curiosity and lust.

Things get hot and heavy over time, and soon, their strong feelings toward one another are undeniable. Challenges ensue, and Tristan is forced to decide what he wants: listen to his heart, or other people’s opinions.

I love Jenna’s storytelling, and I feel this is her best novel in the series. The others are good, but ALLT blew it out of the water for me. I can’t recommend this book enough. Please do yourself a favor and get it.

Readers should be warned that this cannot be considered a standalone. I have read the first three and a half chapters and I came across several characters from previous books I suppose ( I’m saying I suppose since there is no explanation about any of them). The MMC is attending a wedding we know nothing about…I mean who are those people? I get that this is a third book in a series but if it is meant as a standalone we should at least be given few information.
Also, the MMC is a widower and he still constantly thinks about his dead wife ( I get it…it’s just been nine months since the death, that’s understandable) but what does he do the first time he sees the FMC ? One who has not seen for years and who is also his sister in law? He has an erection…in the first three and a half chapters…no build up, nothing…
Fortunately this was just the Amazon excerpt and I didn’t buy the full book.
This was not for me.

Talk about a story that has you unable to put your book/device down. A Love Like That is a single-dad, age-gap, grumpy/sunshine, forbidden romance that is beautifully written and a joy to read. Ms. Harlley has a way with her writing style of grappling your attention right from the start with her storylines and characters. This book is one of those books and as you read Tristan and Elle's story you start to get all sorts of feelings running through you. You also feel the heartache, anger, joy and love that they feel with the words and descriptions that Ms. Hartley uses. When you have lost the love of your life and the mother of your children, you never think that maybe someday you could ever love again, let alone your late wife's younger sister. Tristan needed help and when Elle was able to help with Savannah and Maddox, it was a match made in heaven, in more ways than one. Living together and having feelings for one another thrown into the mix, just added to the attraction. The chemistry that they shared was hot and the dirty talk had the pages catching on fire. The twist and turns that happened with the turn of every page kept your interest right to the very end.

Ms. Hartley never disappoints with her books, storylines and characters. This is one book that I will be reading again. A Love Like That is one book that you definitely want to add to your TBR list. I also suggest adding Ms. Hartley to your author TBR list.

I absolutely adored Tristan and Ellie’s story from the start. Theirs is one that I struggled to put down and I was completely sucked back into the AV.

Tristan is a single dad to two young children and has recently lost his wife. Ellie lost her sister and is back in the last place she wants to be. However, it allows her to spend time with her niece and nephew and Tristan. Tristan and Ellie have known each other for years. But now they are really noticing each other. There is no denying that they have a connection and that they have chemistry. But there are also some doubts and fears between them.

Tristan and Ellie eventually do give into the chemistry that is between them and it is magical, spicy, and emotional. They are a rollercoaster of emotions and I was completely hooked on it. This is what they both needed, even if it may not seem right to others. It is so easy to fall in love with these two and want them to both find the happily ever after that they deserve.

If you’re looking for a small town, single dad, age gap, forbidden romance this is one to check out.

A Love Like That is my first book by Jenna Hartley and certainly won’t be my last. A Love Like That is an emotional, yet unconventional love story that is sure to pull on the heartstrings of its readers.

Ever since Tristan’s wife died, he found himself floundering. No matter how hard he tries, he feels like he’s disappointing everyone, including his children. When his sister-in-law, Elle, steps in, she’s the answer to his prayers in more ways than one. And so begins a journey of hope, second chances, and learning to live again.

A Love Like That checked off so many of my top trope boxes! I’m a sucker for forced proximity and age-gap romances and this one certainly knocked it out of the park. I also quite enjoyed the forbidden factor of this story. I know it’s not for everyone, but it really worked with this story. From the moment you meet Elle & Tristan, you can’t help but connect and root for them. The chemistry between them is intense and just flows off the pages. The road to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one, there were so many obstacles standing in their way, and I for one couldn’t wait to see how everything came together in the end.

In the end, A Love Like That is a wonderful second-chance romance that will leave you with all the feels. I’m so glad that I’ve discovered this author and look forward to checking out the previous books in this series, asap!

After the tragic death of his first love and wife Tristan is trying to be the best father he can be to his two children. When his sister-in-law Elle moves in to help, she is off limits for so many reasons and is conflicted as how can something that should be wrong feel so right?

Elle has always felt like she didn’t measure up to her sister and she doesn’t want Tristan and his children to look at her the same way. The more time they spend together the deeper the feelings grow as they all try to heal from the devastating loss together.

This story takes us on an emotional rollercoaster as Elle is there for Tristan and his children when they need someone the most, but Tristan is just as supportive of Ellie as he shows her she is the perfect just the way she is.

A Love Like That is a single dad, small-town romance about learning to love again after loss. And the angst that comes with falling for your late wife's younger sister.

After his wife's death, Tristan is lost and struggling to keep it together for his kids. When his late wife's sister, Ellie, returns to Alondra Valley to help with the kids, he's finally able to see that there can be joy after all of the grief that he's experienced. The chemistry between Tristan and Ellie is red hot, but neither wants to act on it until they just can't fight their attraction anymore. The way they made each other feel seen and heard as well as special and cared for just warmed my heart. After everything Tristan and Ellie have been through individually, they deserve to enjoy life with the person who makes them happy.

The Alondra Valley series is one of my favorites, and A Love Like That is hands down my favorite of them all so far. I couldn't help but root for Tristan and Ellie's unconventional love story, especially with all the challenges they face. This book perfectly combines love, healing, spice, and family.

I received an early copy of this book.

"You are the moon, guiding me out of darkness. Giving me light and hope. You brought me back to life, Elle."

What You'll Find:
✔️Smalltown Romance
✔️Single Parent Widow
✔️Age Gap
✔️Close Proximity
✔️Sizzling Scenes
✔️Dual POV

Tristan has been struggling to keep up with everything after the death of his wife. It isn't until his sister in law Elle moves in that order is restored in his home and children's lives. Though it's not just order his much younger sister in law restores. No, she brings him back to life too. But it doesn't matter, because in a few months, he'll have to let her go too, so she can follow her own dreams.

A Love Like That is a tender, heartwarming read, with emotion that will tug at your heart. But not without steam that will heat up your kindle. It's a pretty insta connection, I felt, with quick chemistry that I'll admit I struggled with a little bit in the beginning. Their relationship, a bit taboo, in way I wasn't sure about. But in the end these two just fit so perfectly. The way they worked as a team. Supported one another. While bringing out new sides in each other that only heightened their connection. And that connection, well it sure sizzles too! Wowzers. I found the timeline wasn't always clear, and it got a little slow in places for me. But overall, an enjoyable addition to this heartfelt series!

Ahhh @authorjennahartley this was SO good! I absolutely loved Tristan and his gruffness and Elle and her sweet, feisty side. I love a girl with purple hair, tattoos and piercings all day everyday. 😝 I felt all of the tension and forbidden love between these two and devoured it and loved watching them blossom and accept their love for each other as more than their grief. This was also 🔥🥵😮‍💨. A1 dirty talk. All the hawt scenes. Also a husky and some sweet kiddos. This had all of the best tropes!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #jennahartley #kindleunlimited #singledad #agegap #grumpysunshine #forbidden

I was very excited for this one because I love a taboo/forbidden romance. My problem with this book is that it doesn't feel like a romance between Ellie and Tristan, it feels like a story about Tessa and Tristan. The book is insta-lust/insta-love like the other two books in the series so we don't really get to see their relationship grow. The book takes place almost a year after Tessa's death (Which happened in Feels Like Love) and Tristan is understandably a mess and hasn't grieved the loss of his high-school sweetheart and mother of his kids. Ellie was adopted and her mother always compared her to Tessa, so she was always in Tessa's shadow. Tessa was the only person in their family that showed love to Ellie so they were close. We hear all these nice things about how sweet and kind Tessa is and how much everyone loved her that I wasn't rooting for the MCs to get together because it felt like Tessa was around the corner waiting to pop out.

In the second book, Love Like No Other, Tristan alludes to their marriage having problems:
"You have to give her time. You can't force her forgiveness, or she'll only come to resent you for it."

When I read the second book I was excited to see how this towns golden couple that married young wasn't actually perfect. What I read was really just two people not grieving because if Tessa hadn't died then her and Tristan would've grown old together. I felt lust between Tristan and Ellie but not really love. There was no big drama about their relationship, everyone was supportive except Tessa's mother. Tessa's mother insinuates that Ellie and Tristan are in an inappropriate relationship and that she will take the kids away from him. This is very glossed over and the next time we see the mom she just apologizes. We are supposed to believe that after treating Ellie like trash for 20 years that the mom is now going to be nice and excepting of the relationship and the dad is going to love her?

~REVIEW🖋~
The Quick and Dirty:  A journey through guilt, grief and love after loss between a grieving father of two and his late wife’s younger sister.

Tristan and his late wife Tessa had known each other since they were children. They were the golden couple of the town so when Tessa dies of a brain tumor in Feels Like Love, leaving Tristan with two young children to raise, readers all wondered how he’d be able to heal and find love again. Enter Ellie, Tessa’s younger sister who is back in the AV after a snafu overseas. She starts off as the kids’ nanny but the chemistry between her and Tristan keeps building and eventually comes to a head. They can’t seem to fight their attraction to one another but there is also their grief and the seemingly taboo nature of their relationship to navigate. Not without spice and plot twists, the place where this story truly shines is in the journey Tristan and Elle take in piecing themselves (and each other) back together after their loss, risking it all for love and letting go of what others think.

Things I think you’ll love:
- Taboo light — big age gap + younger sister of a deceased spouse seems pretty taboo but it’s dealt with in a way that is tasteful and pays respect to Tristan’s late wife
- Journey of healing — both characters have their own separate journeys to healing their guilt and grief but I loved how they also built each other back up
- The AV, the kids, the friends — everything about the setting and side characters is charming; One thing that Jenna does really well is peeling back layers of characters you previously met in other books so her long-time readers get a little bonus on their favorites in addition to the new story.
- Spice — While their relationship itself is thoughtful, caring and sweet, Tristan and Elle’s bedroom relationship is all SPICE. 🌶🔥🥵 Loved seeing Tristan’s dominant side come out to play.
- HEA — no loose ends but not the gratuitous HEA either; everything wraps up organically with room to grow as Jenna leads readers into the next book.

Next up:  We got a sneak peek at Asher and his issues in this book and I expect his book to be the grittiest yet… I AM SO EXCITED!

This is for sure an age gap and they both fought it because they had the bonus of her being the sister of his wife who passed away. When you have felt invisible your whole life. Made to feel unworthy, a rival, and only contempt. From the one person, Ellie Curren(20) should have been cherished by, Gloria Considering, Gloria had, as far as, the AV knew she had tried IVF for so long. Instead, her whole life she had been compared to her older sister, Tessa the AV cherished hometown girl. She grew to resent her sister and yet at the same time couldn't because she only gave her love and compassion. She was always her biggest cheerleader and encouraged her to reach for the stars.

So, when she was in college, in Australia, and working as a nanny which means a work permit. Until it's revoked, for extending a helping hand. She tried appealing it, but it did matter. And it couldn’t have happened at a better time, Ellie didn't know it yet, but Tristan needed a nanny and more. Imagine their surprised reaction when the opportunity for both of them magically appears. The setting was uncomfortable for both of them.

For Tristan, it is two-fold being at a wedding for their friends alone is painful. The second reason, it leaves him an open target to his ex-in-laws Gloria and Dan. Never a pleasant encounter now or before Tessa’s passing. She starts right in on him needing a haircut, and he agrees. Her smile falls slightly with disappointment, then she starts to go on about the children saying, that missing family dinner is unacceptable. She kept rambling on, about his molars and couldn't take it. What her basic complaints are? She tells him the kids look like street urchins. She said she would take them for haircuts, clothes, and shoes. He agreed.

Then, she and the area around her goes icy. Gloria starts bad-mouthing, Ellie just out of earshot. As she sarcastically tells, Ellie’s business about losing her, Visa and her nanny job. They were deporting her, and she was going to be a college dropout. That now, Ellie would want, Gloria to bail her out of the mess. Tristan asks, Gloria to repeat what is going on. Tristan gets angrier as she continues, as Tessa used to do when her mother would treat, Ellie unfairly.

He got angrier as she talked, he didn't understand how she could be so callous, and nasty to her child. Ellie could never match up to, Gloria’s exacting standards, to the point where she wears, the disappointment to show her all her wrongs. The more she talks, the more he bursts out with, Ellie can stay with us. It was worth it to see, Gloria back peddle with her saga. He says, No! It's perfect you said, I needed help and she’s been a nanny, needs a place to live, and she’s family. Now, Gloria says, you don't need, the Eleanor circus.

Ladies and gentlemen let the games begin. His first hit comes from one of his BFFs, Asher ( a shite in this book). Mind you, Tristan still sees her as her high school graduation, eighteen years old. Not now, Asher shows him her social media page. Her twenty-year-old, content-creator self. This is such a rollercoaster of emotions. You have poor Ellie coming home to a firing squad called her mother.

But, she was like a breath of fresh air for this family. Pain turns to excitement, guilt, fear, hope, shame, mourning, and love. They all find comfort, laughter, and faith in each other. Oh. Her. Father. Coward. He was worthless. You’ll know why when you read it. Who wrote, The Vine, and does, Asher get his book? In the end, the kids came first, their self-growth second, and, their love third. Wonderful book.

This book was just beautifully written with tons of emotions from beginning to end!! I'm obsessed with story, these characters and all the feels of this wonderful book.

I was dying for Tristan's book from the very beginning of this series and even though this book can be read as a standalone I recommend you start the series because all the characters and their stories are unique and wonderful.

Tristan is trying to find balance in his life after the sudden and unexpected death of his wife. He is now a single father to Savannah and Maddox and also trying to manage his business, we can say he desperately needs help and when the opportunity arises in the form of his late wife's younger sister Elle, he takes this opportunity without even thinking his life was about to change completely.

Elle is what brings sunshine into Tristan and his kids lives. She is there to support, care and love this family. Regarding of her own personal issues with her parents she never lets this affect her relationship with Maddox and Savannah.

Tristan and Elle's relationship starts as friendship but becomes so much more. Their attraction is irrevocably and all consuming.

I'm so in love with this story, Jenna Hartley always writes the best stories and this Small town, age gap, forbidden romance about second chances and healing was absolutely perfect.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

We got a glimpse of Tristan and his story in Love Like No Other and how hard it was for him losing his wife. This story takes place around the same time as the previous book.

Tristan is trying to get over the loss of his wife and fact that he now has to do everything alone. His poor kids Maddox and Savannah are heartbroken from losing their mom and this completely broke my heart. He's drowning a bit and needs help. It was so hard watching Tristan try to navigate after losing his wife.

And trying to be what his kids needs and what his job needed. He wasn’t doing well and felt like he was failing. This book really made me feel all of their pain, and made me cry.

We see Tristan struggling to connect with Maddox and comfort him. I felt so bad for them. And sweet Savannah trying to be all grown up.

Ellie is Tristan's late wife's younger sister and needs a place to stay for the Summer. She has experience as a nanny so she's the perfect fit for what they need.

She has a tumultuous relationship with her mother and father. They have not been the best to her. And she tried time and time again to get their approval to no avail.

Ellie's smart, kind caring and creative. She has a knack with kids and Tristan. She came in and help to turn things around. Ellie was able to pull them out of the funk that they were in and helped them to smile again.

But the way the kids missed their mom broke my heart completely, and how sad they were. And Tristan too, oh I could feel the pain on the pages and it broke my heart. And Ellie came in like a ray of sunshine and help them to heal a little. To understand that life is short and we should enjoy every moment.

She experiences her own sadness when it comes to her sister but she's found a way to help Tristan and the kids that helped her too.

I absolutely loved this book and the chemistry between Ellie and Tristan, I also loved the ease between them and how sweet Tristan was. Even though he had been through something so tragic he was kind and appreciated Ellie and everything she did for him and the kids.

I can't wait for Asher's book. I just know it's going to feel good watching the player fall.

This is book three in this series, but it is my first book by this author. Though there are many characters that overlap with the author's other books, this can completely be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.

Tristan (34) is buried in grief after the sudden loss of his wife. He is doing everything he can to keep his head above water and take care of his kids. His daughter (8) and son (4) are also grieving. The whole family is struggling. When his wife's much younger sister (20) comes back to town he asks her to move in with him and be a nanny for the kids.

Tristan's grief for his wife was deep and heart breaking. It was authentic to how my friends who have been in that situation have felt. I love that he tries so hard and yet feels like he is failing. Ellie is also grieving. In addition, being back in her town puts her in close contact with her parents and the dysfunctional relationship she has with them. Tristan works hard to defend Ellie to her mother and to teach her how beautiful she is. His belief in her is one of my most favorite things.

Deeply emotional and complex: this book moved me. There are plenty of steamy moments and there are a few funny ones too. The emotions the characters experience are raw and real. They are faced with guilt, fear, frustration, love, and anger. They each have moments when they feel unworthy or happiness and each other. Navigating their complicated relationship and their journey through grief takes time. Some of that time has to be spent apart, growing on their own to get where they need to be. Ultimately they get to a place where they can take a stand and be in a relationship where they love each other and make each other happy. Their journey takes them to a place where they recognize that life is short, but taking a chance on the future is worth it. And living in the present while honoring the past is the best.

With complex characters and a complicated plot line, this book was deep. I believe I will be thinking about it for a long time. I am also very excited to read more books by this author.

My first trip to Alondra Valley has been quite the ride. Never once did I feel lost in a story line but could tell there were other stories to be read. Author Jenna Hartley did an amazing job of ensuring first-time readers, like me, were well-versed in all the AV gossip. I certainly may have preferred to read these books in order now knowing Tristan’s story, but I still have the desire to go back and read from the beginning. I love interconnected standalone books and these characters stand out enough that I’d love to get up close and personal with them all. A Love Like That was an emotional ride, one that I could relate to personally, which made it that much more poignant. A definite 5-star read for me!

Tristan and Ellie have been placed in a tough spot. The moral implications and public scrutiny of a relationship between the two of them are just the tip of the iceberg for them. While it may be true that we can’t always choose who we love, justifying it to ourselves and others probably gets in the way sometimes.

I love that Tristan has a band of men standing beside him wanting to see him happy with not a judgmental bone in their bodies. I love how they gave him time to grieve and come to terms with his new reality. They compassionately helped him see that moving on was the right thing to do, and if Ellie was the one who made his eyes shine with love again and brought happiness back to the lives of his kids, then nothing should stand in their way. I especially loved how Tessa’s memory was honored throughout the book. Losing a spouse, a mother, a sibling, is one of the toughest things a human may have to endure, and I loved how A Love Like That addressed it all.

I couldn’t help but believe Tristan and Ellie were meant to be. It is so hard to know you are in a specific place in your life because you lost a love one. How can you choose between the two? Well, you can’t! You live each day as it comes, you live your life going forward the way you want and without regrets. Humans were meant to have a life partner beside them and to find love. If it finds you twice, you are very lucky!

5 Finding Love When You Don’t Think You Deserve It Stars!

I'm not sure where to begin with how much I loved this book. Ellie and Tristan aren't meant to be together given that she's the little sister of Tristan's wife that has recently passed away. There are so many emotions at play in this book that we experience from the very first page.

Tristan is trying to figure out how to parent his two small children, there's stress at work that could upend everyone's lives and then there's Tessa's little sister that has moved in to help with the kids as they transition to a new normal. The thing about Ellie is she's somewhat carefree with how she lives her life which her parents don't always agree with causing some tense moments when they're all together. I truly felt bad for her because her parents don't "see her" they see what they want her to be and not who she truly is... a beautiful, loving, kind young woman.

When Ellie moves in to help with Savannah and Maddox she experiences the pure innocence of love from her niece and nephew, but surprisingly, there’s a connection and attraction to Tristan…something that shouldn’t be happening…. Or should it? I loved how this part of the story built up slowly over several chapters. There’s the guilt Tristan feels for having something more than brotherly feelings to Ellie but also Ellie realizing that when someone really listens to what she says and what she loves, her life takes on an entirely new meaning.

And holy moly these two are SIZZLING HOT!!! I had to step away from my kindle a few times to cool myself off. Talk about an awakening… Elle has moments with Tristan that she’s only read about!

Overall, this book is beautifully written and truly lets the reader feel the grief of a widower trying to find a normalcy to his and his children’s lives and finding love again when it’s least expected, especially with who it is, and that life indeed can be lived even when you don’t think you deserve it.

You are the moon, guiding me out of the darkness. Giving me light and hope. You brought me back to life, Elle 💕

I’ve always enjoyed taboo romances and a widower who falls in love with his late wife’s little sister definitely fits the bill. But as taboo as this is Tristian and Ellie deserve their happily ever after together and I’m glad they found it.

Tristian just lost his wife unexpectedly and now finds himself the single parent to a 4 & 8 yr old. To say life isn’t going as planned is an understatement and having to pick up the pieces of his broken heart and still be a present parent is really difficult. A year later things are starting to feel like the new normal but that doesn’t mean its perfect. And when Tristan’s sister-in-law needs a place to stay from the summer from being aboard he offers his home on the condition she help nanny the kids. Ellie is Tessa’s younger adopted sister and is not looking forward to coming back to the small town she was so ready to leave and a mother who despises her. So when Tristan offers a nanny job she jumps at the offer. Now these two haven’t seen each other in a lot of years and when they do feelings start to get jumbled. Tristian knows he shouldn’t feel attracted to Ellie but he can’t help it and the longer they spend together and get to know each other the more they come to like each other. Between the age gap and the obvious this is my wife sister issue, these two shouldn’t fit but actually do.

This story was so much about healing from your past and finding love again, even in the most unconventional places. Tristian isn’t the same person he was when he was with Tessa and has had to grow in a different way after her passing and Ellie helps him find his new self and a new found family. The kids Maddox and Savannah were so cute and even their relationship with Ellie was very special. Overall great story and invest in some tissues for some emotional scenes.

A Love Like That follows Tristan and Ellie, Tessa's younger sister. For a while I have been super curious about Tristan, throughout the Alondra Valley Series. And when I found out his book was next I couldn't wait, and ended up binging the entire book in one day. Prepare to go on a journey filled with loss, confusion, heartbreak, and love.

Tristan is a man who lost his wife Tessa a year ago, leaving him as a single dad to his adorable children, Savannah and Maddox. Finding himself struggling and not knowing what to do or how to emotionally help his children, Tristan offers Ellie a place to stay in exchange for her help with his kids, when he finds out that she will be getting deported back to the US from studying abroad in Australia. The moment Ellie arrives, the connection is instant, not just with her niece and nephew, but with Tristan too.

Ellie is a woman who has suffered rejection at the hands of her parents, living under her sister's constant shadow her entire life, she leaves to Australia in order to get away and finally learn who she is. Finding herself being deported after loosing her student visa, she takes the job as a nanny to her sister's children for a few month. What she doesnt expect is to fall for Tessa's husband. Will both take the risk of getting their hearts broken in the end?

I can say with full certainty, Ellie and Tristan love and story broke my heart. With both being strong yet vulnerable, and still managing to put the children first truly showed how well they fit together. I loved seeing Ellie learning to defend herself as the story progressed and with Tristan's help, especially how protective she was of Maddox and Sav. And as for Tristan, I loved seeing him learn to love again, and slowly overcoming his fear of loosing yet another person he loved. And like both said, their is never a correct amount of time to love again after grief. Ican't wait to find out who will be next in the AV series.
