Jericho wants nothing more than a normal life. Edward is as average as they come. Too bad things are never that simple.
As one of Zander’s team leaders, Jericho’s hard work is finally paying off. When he moved to the east coast to run the first cleanup crew on this side of the country, he stayed too busy to date. Plus, with a past like his, he’s not really relationship material. Now new teams are pouring in, and Jericho has all the free time to focus on his social life and the man he’s been eyeing for months from a distance, Edward. He can’t explain why, but he’s convinced Edward will accept everything about him. Maybe so, except Zander has a new plan for him that could upend all of that.
Edward didn’t know Jericho existed until two weeks ago. If he had, the gay panic would’ve been real because Edward is as plain and as boring as they come. He’s a librarian who gave up on love a long time ago. There’s no way someone who looks like Jericho is truly interested in him. Edward doesn’t mind having a new friend, though. He just wishes Jericho didn’t make his heart beat quite so fast. Oh, boy. He’s in trouble. More than he even realizes, especially when he learns what Jericho really does for a living.
Average is the fourteenth book in Charity Parkerson’s Kings of the East series where assassins, crime lords, and mafia bosses run the world. These books are best when read in order.
Charity Parkerson is an award winning and multi-published author with several companies. Born with no filter from her brain to her mouth, she decided to take this odd quirk and insert it in her characters.

A librarian just at the end of hoping to ever meet the One. This was a whirlwind romance with a small amount of drama that was beautiful to read. As the last book in the series it also gave us a closing chapter for Zander (the patriarch of the series). A comforting look at all the saved lives and loves that formed on the way.
This was book 14 in the "Kings of the East"series. This was a pretty good read and a perfect ending to this series. Jericho Wrath is one of Zander's team leaders. Edward Jones is a lonely librarian in the last book Jericho ask him to hold a book for him. When he comes back these two begin spending time together Edward can't believe that anyone wants to spend time with him. Jericho was a victim of sex trafficking he was sold as a baby and when he was sixteen he was kicked out dropped off. Zander and his team found him working the streets stung out on drugs. Edward came out and was disowned by his religion mother. Edward had a lot of insecurities and as a result he didn't ask a lot of questions. When Zander ask him to head up the East Coast operations Jericho becomes a Don. When Edwards car blows up Jericho will do anything to keep him save and when he falls ends the man who did it he gets a surprise. This was a really good read and the perfect ending to this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the new series.
Jerico is one of Zander's team leaders and after hard work and moving to the east coast to run the first cleanup crew on that side of the country, he was far too busy to date anyone. Now new teams are arriving he has more free time and so can focus on the man he has been eyeing for months - Edward - who he is convinced will accept everything about him. Until two weeks ago Edward had no idea that Jericho existed. Edward is as plain and boring as they come as the librarian gave up on love a long time ago. Surely there is no way that someone who looks like Jericho could be interested in him Edward will think of him as a new friend.
I enjoyed this story with the librarian who could not imagine why anyone like Jericho could want him and let Jericho couldn't get him out of his head and have a desperate need to love and protect him. I really liked their passion and the way that Edward accepted Jericho no matter what he did for a living. The attack on Edward was very fortunate to be on a non-working day and the devotion that they both showed each other as touching. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
Average is the fourteenth book in the Kings of the East series, following Jericho Wrath, a man trying to find normalcy while managing a dangerous job, and Edward, a quiet librarian who believes he’s too ordinary for someone like Jericho.
I liked Edward a lot — he was adorable and brought a gentle balance to Jericho’s more intense character. Their chemistry had some sweet moments that I enjoyed.
Both Jericho and Edward were dealing with their own inner demons and complicated pasts, which added depth to their characters. That said, Jericho’s horrible past was really hard to read, and I fucking hated it.
However, I felt their relationship developed a bit too quickly, which made it harder to fully connect with their emotional journey. Some parts of the story felt rushed, and if you haven’t read earlier books, references to past events might be confusing.
Never a disappointment……except when the series ends!
Love Charity Parkerson’s work. I’ve read almost all of them (some titles more than once) and, though I can’t say that this book was the best in the series, Jericho and Edward were special and adorable. And it was wonderful seeing Zander and Maverick again (their series is another favorite of mine).
I know that I won’t be disappointed with a story by Charity Parkerson.
This was a nice little wrap up to the series. Jericho and Edward seemed to fit together just right. Jericho wanted to settle into a “normal” life with Edward. He gets more than he bargained for, but it turns out to be a great thing for him. I was happy to see that Jericho’s tormentor got what was coming to him as well. Overall a sweet read.
This book was Jericho's time to find love. There love was built at a fast pace. Edward may have not known Jericho true job was until he was too deeply in love with him but he knew he would protect him from anyone who ever hurt Jericho in the past. I loved seeing Edward become a confident man and the perfect man for Jericho.
I thoroughly enjoyed this whole series! I loved reading every HEA and hopefully the spin off books will be the same! I really recommend this series for anyone who loves darker stories with great HEAs!
Edward had zero personality but that wasn’t even the worst part. He literally threw the life he had existed in completely away with barely knowing this person and in my opinion Zander didn’t have much personality either. This one just wasn’t it for me.
This review is for the entire series… I ❤️ this series. It’s heartfelt with a little steam and darkness mixed in. They’re quick reads that tie into each other. I read the whole series in a weekend because I didn’t want to put it down. Looking forward to the spin-off.
