Omega House #1

Unknown Entity

Rate this book
an alternate cover edition can be found here

After spending most of his childhood alone, Max becomes captive in a breeding farm for omegas. So, when he and the other omegas are finally rescued and taken to Omega House, he's a bit skeptical and definitely prepared to survive on his own if necessary. But when a sexy alpha winds up taking care of the new omegas the day they are rescued, Max has mixed feelings about his new situation, unsure if Curtis can be trusted.

Curtis only volunteers at Omega House to help those in need. He definitely isn't looking for someone to have fun with, but when young Max shows up at Omega House, Curtis's body begins pulling him toward the young man like a magnet. It's like nothing he's experienced before, and he can't deny the feelings he has.

The realization that Curtis could be Max's mate comes too late when the alpha's over-possessive actions scare Max off and cause him to follow his instinct to run. Max takes off in search of the only alpha at the breeding farm who was kind to him.

Unfortunately, Tad's intentions are less than honorable for Max now that they are away from the farm.

Max's only hope is that Curtis will follow his instincts too and find the young omega he is drawn to.

Unknown Entity is the introduction book to the Omega House series. The story tells of a young omega trying to find a home of his own and an alpha trying to find and protect his mate.

Disclaimer: This book contains sexually explicit adult content that includes knotty scenes between an alpha and his omega. The book is intended for adults who enjoy male-male sexy times. The book is approximately 16,500 words in length and does not end in a cliffhanger.

This is everything I hate in an alpha/omega verse story. There’s no plot whatsoever for this shortie. I know it’s an under 100 pages one but nonetheless, I have read amazing short stories which not only have a coherent background but also have amazing characters and stellar world building. This book failed my expectations in every possible way. 😕 Usually, I’m very lenient when it comes to alpha/omega verse books because come on, men being pregnant and self-lubricating holes, you can’t logically think everything and reason everything for these books. They are meant to be fun, light and low-angst. But this one is just just terrible. 😑

Max hated Curtis at first because he grew up in an omega breeding farm and was generally distrustful to the big and powerful alphas. And he ran away when Curtis showed him some interest and when Curtis chased him and rescued him from being abducted by an another beta, he immediately accepted Curtis as his fated mate and they fucked? 🙄🙄🙄 And the next morning, they knew immediately that he was pregnant? My mouth was literally hanging and I was left speechless for a while. That was painful to finish this one. And that my friend, is everything that happened in this book in two sentences. Lol 😂 And because I am an idiot, I think I’m still going to read the second book in the series since I’m curious about what’d happen to the side character, Freddie. 😁

2 definitely not the best omegaverse story I’ve read stars

This was an okay read. It was a simple instant love/lust short read, nothing too complicated. Based on the title of the book and the picture on the cover I was expecting more from the book and author.

Nice little short Non shifter story. Alpha and Omega coming together by unknown forces that they can't deny.

Every Non shifter or Shifter Mpreg that I read they approach it from a different angle , some similarities but I'm always intrigued by how they do it.

It's a short story so no information will be coming but a nice little read. And if you read my reviews "I hate coming late to the party." Characters from a Harper B. Cole Non shifter series appears in this first book, sooooo you know I have to read their story too. Damn!

The story has no plot, the writing's mediocre.
Unknown Entity tried to be cute, with omega and protective alpha, but failed.
One day, they avoided each other, the other day they can't live without each other, the other day, the omega got pregnant.

I generally enjoyed this short story, but it really needed a prologue.

I like that despite being omegaverse/ mates it wasn’t completely insta-love.

Trust Your Instincts

I really enjoyed this First Book of the Omega House series which is in part an erotic novella that simmers with sensual passion between mates. Unfortunately for the Omega characters of this Omegaverse tale - they live in one of the oppressive more brutal societies where Omegas are viewed as too weak, worthless with no value beyond what a Beta or an Alpha assigns them. On the plus side, the author choses to begin on a positive note - with an outlawed breeding stable/farm of emaciated & weakened Omegas being rescued & taken to a Safe Haven. The horrors of the lives they've lead make this possibility of a new start with a caring staff, a relief to the Abused Omegas.

Here we meet 19 year old Max, with his own unique life filled with wretchedness and fear. He has spent his life learning how to survive, running, hiding, and avoiding sketchy situations. He trusts his fine tuned instincts. When pinged he reacts. He's learned not to trust others even when treated kindly. But there comes a time when with no one to turn to he seeks out one of those who showed him nothing but compassion. Despite others offering friendship and sanctuary an unknown entity is pinging his alarm bells. Feelings he's never experienced make him do what he does best: avoidance and flight.

Curtis a big & strong Alpha, is thrown off kilter by the emergence of instincts he's never been driven by. They all seem to center around one of the newly rescued Omegas at the Safe Haven he volunteers at. Duties and responsibilities keep him from interacting with the Omega who has such an unusual scent. But when he finally figures out what's happening (with a little help from his friends) to his dismay his Omega Bolts!

How is he supposed to find one small skittish Omega in a city populated with Omega ghettos and many other places to hid? But his Omega is in imminent danger! Without suppressors Max is going through his first Heat. A scent beacon to every Alpha and Beta, who'd have no qualms about taking Max as for their own sordid pleasure. An image that brings Curtis's blood to a boil. But will he be in time to advert disaster? Great start to a new series.

I do have a soft spot for the Om Cafe/Omega House universe in which this plot resides, but gracious I wish there was actually a plot residing here. This is, by way of fated mates, and instalove, but then it's also a novella so it feels less like the mates thing creates the relationship and more like Grace needed to make the HEA happen in a compact space.

Like in the Om Cafe books, this draws on the nature of A/B/O as a sociopolitical system and highlights the use and abuse of omegas, from which we get our omega protagonist. The groundwork isn't bad and I was drawn into how a rescue would work in a psychosocial way--but nope, we needs to have teh Sexes and the teh Loves, the end. Max was never really a character to me; he was as stand-in for other people's expectations that were trying to force mine in the story. I was so aware that I was supposed to feel hoodwinked by this guy or in support of this guy, even though none of the characters were fleshed out enough for me to really see them as anything other than plot devices. I was told over and over that these men were mates, that this guy was bad news, that this was the love bit, but I was never really shown any of that.

Some of this is the issue of the fated mates trope itself and it's a rare author, honestly, who can make that work in a way that sells the pairing as something both characters are clearly into. Unfortunately, Grace doesn't get there. I have a note on page 43 of "when did he become sexy to you" because other than "and I knew we were fated mates," there's no buildup. Suddenly Max, battered and afraid omega, wants to climb Curtis like a tree. Why? What happened to his backstory? What happened to any sort of story of who Curtis is beyond "sexy and strong"?

There is a sort of authorial apology on page 47 that I found interesting: "Instead of taking time to get to know each other before deciding that we want to be together, our biology has made that decision for us. Now we have to jump straight into getting to know each other to catch up." Good on you, Grace, for weaving that into the narrative. Unfortunately, recognizing the issue isn't enough to counteract how cardboard both Max and Curtis are as they each moon over how the other is obviously too good for him, and I never bought the "it's more than just physical" sale, nor any of the conflict around their relationship. (I have a note on page 67 of "what even is the point of this character" for the antagonist because he's so clearly just there to force the main ship.)

Not enough room to fight the demons of the trope itself, and not enough plot to carry the weight of the central romance. Good luck to Max and Curtis, but I was bored halfway through and this wasn't even 100 pages long.

PLEASE READ FIRST MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings (thanks to amazon I had to change it again and 'upgrade' it a little bit.
My old 3* is now a 3,5* and clicked with a 4*):

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like 'Liberty' from Seth King,
'Save the kids' series from EM Leya or
'Jesse's Smile' from Angelique Jurd), it's like
an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey books) it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times (most romances where you can enjoy
for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, but
not really an often reread book

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok) It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

Unfortunately too short. But a good intro in the new series. That’s why only 3,5 stars.

This book is set in the Omegaverse, but this is a brutal Universe for the Omegas. They are view simply as a possession of their alphas, or just a breeding machine.

The story begins with the rescue of a group of enslaves omegas from an illegal breeding farm. The omegas are brought to Safe Heaven, a place of recovery. There, we met Max, a young omega who has known nothing but fear in his 19 years old, and who, when something unknown set his alarms off, does what his life has taught him to do: he flies.

But his alarms weren't set by a what but a who: Curtis. An alpha who is volunteering at Safe Heaven, and who, when he finally understand what's happening, finds that Max has run off. Now, he must find his omega before he comes to harm's way.

A well-written story, lovely and romantic, ideal for those who enjoy Omegaverse stories. I'm going to read the second book, now :D

This is an interesting story, it is set in a mean world where omegas are treated harshly and can even become prisoners in breeding camps. This story brings readers to place where omegas are kept safe and those that need help can come for it. When a recently rescued omega named Max realizes that he has attracted the attention of an alpha named Curtis he runs but he may just be running into danger not from it. Can Curtis find and save Max before it is too late?

Curtis and Max's story is a good read. I found the concept of the storyline engaging and I am eager to see more from this world. Their story moves along quickly and grabbed my attention right from the start. I enjoyed seeing Max and Curtis find their way to happiness. The author does a nice job of bringing the characters and their world to life. It is a quick read that introduces readers to this world nicely.

This is the first book in The Omega House Series. A good book the writing was okay. I can’t say that there was anything major wrong with this story. But It was too predictable for me. If you like insta?, you will like this book, but for me it was just too much insta love and lust. I normally don’t mind insta whatever, but I need some other story with it. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. Max is an Omega and Curtis is an Alpha and they are the MC’s of this book and mates. There was children, Omegas, Alphas, Betas, a rescue house, mates, running, bonding and this book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

A rescued omega who doesn't trust alphas is your fated one. How do you win his trust?

Welcome back to the world of the Omega House omegaverse. I love it here! If you have read the previous series, you will recognize some old friends. But this is Max & Curtis's story. It is sweet and sexy and fast paced. Max has been sheltered, so his feelings are quite confused. The idea of fated mates never enters his head. Curtis never expects to find his fated mate; especially not in a wary rescued omega. Our two heroes will have to overcome their fears to reach HEA. One tantalizing weekend will seal their bond. And, they will learn that love can be as immediate & intense as it is inevitable. You are gonna love this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Not bad

I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.
This book was alright, it had great promise with the plot but I just wasn't feeling it. I think it needed to be longer to fully detail the story but what I didn't like was this place is supposed to be a safe haven for abused omegas and as soon as Curtis smells Max who just happens to be his fated mate it felt like he went stereotypically pumped up alpha who had to find him and that they wanted to get him back even though he flee'd and was scared so I wasn't a fan of that nor did I particularly liked curtis. Saying that I am looking forward to freddies story.

This is a quick and enjoyable read but I wish it was longer so that the relationship between Max and Curtis had time to develop at a slower pace. Everything felt too rushed and there isn't enough time for them to form a real connection other than being fated mates. I love that the omegas are rescued from breeding farms and given their freedom and there are a few twists in the story to keep things interesting. More world building would also give this story more depth. I will keep reading this series as I need to know what happens with Freddie.

3 stars. Very cool concept and the world this is set in has so much potential. I think this would've benefitted greatly if this had been a full length novel. Everything is entirely too rushed. Because this is less than 100 pages Max's character makes a startling 180 degree change in such a short amount of time that it was a bit startling. I liked him though and I liked Curtis as well. The smut is great and there is sincere chemistry between the two of them. I just wish this would've been longer but for what it is, it's a very entertaining read.

This was a sweet read with a satisfying HEA.

It had just a little bit of plot, but enough to give a decent set up.

It was a bit of instalove, but I'm actually usually okay with that when there are "destined mates". (because magic!)

Even though they were destined mates, I was still quite happy that they talked a bit before losing control to the heat. Kudos to the author for that detail.

Sadly, the smut didn't really work for me... I found it (as well as some of the dialogue) mostly cringey.

💛 Good novella-length romance with steam and sweetness😉

Nice blend of🔥 heat and 💕heart, with an omega who's wary of all stranger alpha males and especially shelter volunteer Curtis. Although their story is short and their relationship building a bit rushed, I enjoyed the plot, the characters and the upbeat ending. I don't mind some angst but this story is pretty much angst free and, it turns out, that's fine too.😊

A short but enjoyable, heartwarming alpha/omega romance. I found the story-line and plot quite entertaining & well-written with some interesting twists. The complex characters each have their individual goals & needs.
There is: omegas, alphas, betas, children, drama, twists & turns, intrigue, fated mates, a rescue house, confusion, distrust, memories, attractions, some steam, happiness & contentment.

1 1/2 stars.

For a book dealing with heavy themes it spends little to no time actually dealing with them. The story moves at such a fast pace you get no chance to learn or like the characters.

I'm also incredibly disappointed that the baddies don't seem to be punished in any way. One of them, the man that kept Max "safe" but was clearly (I think) planning on keeping him as a mate was almost written as if he was a good guy. It's pretty gross tbh.

I would have liked this to have been longer and we could have seen the pregnancy not just him getting pregnant & then the birth. I also would have liked to have seen the rescuing of the Omega's. I did enjoy the concept of the story. I look forward to seeing Freddy finding his HEA & hopefully seeing these two again.

That was quick

Have if me enjoyed the story and half of me said this was lazy writing. The chapters were short and the story moved at a fast pace, but that's not always a good thing. There was not any real character development and it seemed to be lacking a solid story line.
Overall it wasn't a terrible book but it could have been better.

Awesome start to the series. Not my normal genre or read but I wanted something new. I was pulled into this Alpha/Omega universe and couldn't put it down. Each character you wanted to know more about rather it was the main character or side character. Max was adorable and sweet, and fit with Curtis perfectly. Can't wait for the next.

Great introduction to this spin-off of the Cafe' Om universe. Max has spent his entire life trusting his instincts but he's unfamiliar with his emotions when he locks eyes with Curtis. I like that he was willing to step back and open himself up to Freddie, gaining advice and a friend. Curtis impressed me by tempering his desire with the knowledge that Max needed to go at his own pace.

Aria Grace is one of my top re readable authors to me. I know I can pick up any book authored by them and not be left disappointed for doing so. With all that being said this one was not one of my favorites for one main thing. How quickly the ending was wrap up. I can accept insta love(really insta-lust) more easily in a fated mates world. What I can't accept is how Max was hidden for most of his life in breeding house to just end up mated and pregnant as soon he is freed from the breeding house. Max did not want that for himself. The trust built the two characters to make that okay for me as a reader. Do Alphas/Betas really don't have any self control when Omega is in heat. Max's protector really disappointed me. I have to think he was characterize that way at the end to break trust and build up Curtis.

Overall, it good story just didn't end on a good note.

A Hot Quickie!

Short and sweet and deliciously steamy. Alternating POVs in alternating chapters gives you a glimpse of both the Alpha and the Omega side of the relationship. Love the gritty real world feel. I wish their physical relationship had developed gradually. Kind of hit all at once.
