What a precious series!! These two are so so so cute! I absolutely loved the unfolding of everything in this volume and just felt very happy when I finished. It's been quite a fun adventure with these two characters and loved how our main girl Kodakamine grew throughout the series.
While I have loved our main couple, that bonus story made me super happy too! I could read a spin-off about Kazune (Kodakamine's best friend) because I loved the dynamics of her family life and just her as a character.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series! It has been a very fun adventure and while I wanted a little bit more from the final chapter, this would be a fun comfort series to read again!

This was a short cute little charming series. I think it could afford being a couple volumes longer as I felt there were more that could have been explored like the live triangle, the friendship between characters and just more development overall. But it was super cute for what it was. Looking forward to reading more from this mangaka in the future.

4 stars. Cute end to a short series. Silly, wholesome, and adorable in how it took familiar tropes and worked with them differently. This was a little weak in comparison to the previous volumes, but I am upping it to 4 stars because it's so low angst and surprised me in how it handled developments. I also love the secondary romance and side characters.

This is her first series‽
Although there were a few rough panels here and there, the art in this series was quite charming. I enjoyed how the mangaka rendered hair and the folds of clothes. The clothes felt as if wrapped over real bodies. That's a skill that is unusual to find in a beginning artist. Keeping in mind the audience this story was intended for, I could overlook some of the obvious tropes, especially the bad cooking, the awkward conversations, etc. However, there were enough original moments in this series (hand drawing an aquarium on a foggy window, for example) that I have high hopes for Fuyu Amakura in the future.

As things left off, Serizawa and Kodakamine were separated at the school festival, with the latter being pulled away by her childhood friend. We all know where this is going, but there’s still a little left to the story in this last volume of Heroine For Hire.
For a series that began with such a superb declaration of intent, it’s honestly felt like Heroine For Hire kind of lost sight of that for the middle two books and instead fallen into the same beats as many other shojo stories. Regrettably, this does not change for the last time we get to spend time with these characters.
On the plus side, my wish was ACTUALLY granted with regards to Kodakamine’s friend and he gracefully does the right thing, for which he should be given the Outstanding Rival in a Genre Trope Award.
Also, Kozuki and Kazune are still in the mix and they get a lot of story time together. They are a super fun couple (Kozuki’s ability to apparently manifest out of nowhere when he needs to deliver a line is really amusing), to the point where I was a lot more invested in their relationship working out.
It’s not that our leads are bad, it’s just that... well... once Kodakamine gets her courage up (I’m still not sure how much of that balloon moment was intentionally cheesy...) it turns into the usual birthday mishaps (I think that nonsense with the windows might be the nadir of this volume - it’s too cutesy-poo by half [or I’m a curmudgeon {or both}]) and worrying about being good enough.
The killer for me is that right at the end of the last chapter, this book truly remembers how kick-ass, literally, Kodakamine actually is. She pulls off a couple of great moments that harken back to where we started. It’s like it suddenly remembered what it was just as it said goodbye.
3 stars, maybe 3.5 if I was generous. Et voilà la fin d’Héroïne malgré elle. Je ne savais pas trop à quoi m’attendre avec ce dernier tome. Je me doutais tout de même que Fuyu Amakura allait faire en sorte que son couple de héros finisse ensemble, c’était la moindre des choses, mais le comment restait un mystère.
Nous avions quitté Shûko alors qu’elle s’enfuyait trop paniquée pour se déclarer à Masaki. Cela ne partait pas forcément très bien… Mais en tombant sur Sakaki, son ami d’enfance, et en discutant avec elle parvient à reprendre ses esprits. La scène est très mignonne, car c’est un moment clé pour deux choses. Déjà, Shûko reprend courage, mais Sakaki s’excuse pour les mots blessants qu’il avait eus lorsqu’ils étaient enfants. C’était les deux choses que l’on attendait depuis le début.
La déclaration est sans surprise très mignonne. La mangaka en rajoute même un petit peu, mais franchement, j’ai trouvé que c’était adorable et parfait avec le moment. La suite est plus maladroite. Enfin, en ce qui concerne nos héros, pas le récit. C’est bien de se déclarer, mais après qu’est-ce qu’on fait ? Alors, oui, on reste dans la mignonnerie en voyant nos deux héros agir de façon très gauche l’un envers l’autre, et en même temps, c’est tellement eux, que c’était parfait. La période d’apprivoisement donne lieu aussi à moments entre Shûko et Masaki qui nous permettent de bien profiter de leur romance naissante. Pour un dernier tome, c’est plutôt sympa parce que je craignais un peu une déclaration dans les toutes dernières pages.
J’ai aussi été contentée avec un autre petit couple !! Non vraiment ce dernier tome d’Héroïne malgré elle était au top. Surtout que l’on voit aussi que Kazune a elle aussi des complexes, alors qu’elle n’en pas l’air comme ça. Comme quoi, il ne faut pas se fier aux apparences. Concernant Shûko et ses complexes d’ailleurs, ils sont aussi mis à rude épreuve dans ce tome. Les adolescents ne sont pas tendres entre eux, mais là encore, il y a une bonne conclusion, donc c’est chouette.
La fin est un chouia bizarre, mais elle rappelle aussi les premières pages du manga, dont c’est un clin d’œil qui donne le sourire. Cela reflète le titre également et met bien en avant la relation un peu décalée de nos deux héros.
Un petit manga fort sympathique que j’ai vraiment apprécié découvrir. Je pense que je vais d’ailleurs rester dans le shojo pendant un petit moment… J’aime bien ces doses de soleil qui me donnent le sourire.

Ended kind of abruptly, but it ENDED. Many of these series go on for too darn long, and the hint of a love triangle, but the one guy backed down, which was mature of him. Kind of sad, but I’m sure he will find love too. Kind of wish we got to see the MC h’s BFF fulfill her love interest too, but we got a taste of it. 4, quick, refreshing and fun, stars.

3.5 Une courte série de quatre tomes. C'est le dessin qui m'a d'abord attirée: les traits sont remarquablement bien faits, la mangaka fait même des nuances, le travail des détails est très réussi, surtout quand on découvre que c'est une première série! Beaucoup de talent donc dans les traits et les mouvements.
L'histoire aussi avait attiré mon attention: on renverse ici l'idée que le "gars est le protecteur". Au début, j'étais toutefois un peu déçue de l'attitude de l'héroïne qui veut "être comme les autres filles". Toutefois, au fur et à mesure, on comprend que c'est davantage un manga qui parle de l'importance de s'accepter comme on est (et de trouver un partenaire qui aimera ce qu'on est vraiment). C'est visible à travers l'histoire de cette héroïne, mais aussi avec celle de sa meilleure amie qui ne correspond pas non plus au "modèle attendu de la jeune fille". Mais les garçons qui les accompagnent ne sont pas non plus conformes aux attentes. Ce sont des mangas qui sont de plus en plus courants, je pense à ホリミヤ 1 qui part de la même prémisse, et je pense que ce sont de bons messages à transmettre aux ados.
"Héroïne malgré moi" a quelques défauts (l'attachement est un peu rapide, on voit venir la finale sans peine, les "obstacles" sont clichés), mais les qualités (un dessin supérieur à la norme du shojo, un message plus large que de trouver l'amour, des modèles de filles différentes) viennent équilibrer les lacunes. Je le conseille.

Highschool Heldin ist eine der wenigen Shojo Romance Reihen, die ich in den letzten Monaten wirklich abgeholt haben. Irgendwie bin ich seit beginn total begeistert von der starken Kodakamine, die mehr als Mädchen wahrgenommen werden will und dem trotteligen und dennoch liebenswerten Serizawa.
Zusätzlich ist der Zeichenstil einfach wunderschön, leicht Skizzenhaft und dennoch sehr detailreich sind die Charaktere gestaltet. Ein Augenschschmaus, sag ich euch.
Der Abschlussband war genauso bezaubernd und niedlich wie die drei Bände davor. Beide sind so unfassbar schüchtern und nehmen ihren Mut zusammen, um irgendwie voran zu kommen.
Auch das angedeutete Dreieck wurde meiner Meinung nach gut gelöst und hat glücklicherweise nicht zu einem Dramadebakel geführt.
Was mich zudem gefreut hat, ist dass Kazune, Kodakamines Freundin auch ein bisschen Story bekommen hat, irgendwie mochte ich sie von Anfang an sehr.
Insgesamt ist diese Reihe für mich etwas zu Wohlfühlen, mit zauberhaften Charakteren, die sich mit Themen rundum die erste Liebe konfrontiert sehen. Es ist nicht zu kitschig, aber dennoch richtig niedlich.
Zudem finde ich, sind 4 Bände eine perfekte Länge.

J'ai terminé cette saga plus vite que ce que je ne pensais, elle m'attirait depuis tellement longtemps que je suis déçue de l'avoir finie aussi vite...
Je pense que je la relirai, c'est très rare chez moi de relire un livre alors j'en suis moi-même étonnée...
Pour être honnête cette saga est adorable, mais elle n'est pas incroyable ni même très originale, il y a beaucoup de clichés notamment l'épisode festival, l'épisode au festival du lycée, l'épisode à la plage et plusieurs autres clichés... Mais moi ça m'a beaucoup plu et je crois bien que c'est exactement ce dont j'avais besoin en ce moment!

Mouai pourquoi pas mais reprend beaucoup de stéréotypes et ne sort pas des sentiers battus. On y retrouve un aspect patriarcal (c’est le garçon qui embrasse, c’est lui qui décide, c’est à lui de faire la « vraie » déclaration), et ça ne rebondit pas assez sur des aspects qui auraient pu être exploité (pas besoin de se maquiller pour être jolie, etc). C’est court comme série et tant mieux !

A sweet love story
The first volume was a little too convenient for my taste, but it's developed into a really adorable romance. They both care so deeply about how the other feels. It's heart warming to watch them.

Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Je ne veux pas croire que c'est fini, mais ce l'est pour de vrai!!!!!! Cette série était simplement génial et j'aurai été d'accord pour 100 tomes de plus!
