4.5 Stars
What a great second chance story! Kate and Jude knew each other in college. Although they were separated, they never forgot each other. Kate re-enters Jude's life just when he most needs her and they are so good for each other. I loved that this story had it's own pace and didn't follow a lot of the classic romance story arc.
Only One Kiss.. in a word, cringy. Use of weird phrases, like roll my lips and kissing the baby's neck. Felt too insta eveything. And the angst reason felt overly dramatic. But it felt flat overall. Demoted to reading a chapter at a time.
Baden.. previously read.
Playing To Win.. 2 at best. Though it was a tiny bit better than Only One Kiss. There were a few sentences throughout the book that were structured weirdly. It disrupted the flow because I had to reread them several times. And despite being a "second chance" it seemed a little too insta. The issues with her boss were random and not explained. It felt a little out of left field and left me wondering, what was the point?
Dirty Player.. marked as read, I have no clue why. It wasn't familiar when I read it. Aside from Baden, which I read previously, this seems to be the best offering so far. And again, not including Sawyer Bennett, the only one that has me possibly interested in reading more from the author. I'd probably give it 3.5, not quite worth rounding up to 4.
Wildcat.. It was OK. Nothing too special. Kinda on young side. Undecided if I'd read more by this author.
My Lucky #13.. apparently I read it first, so now I don't recall much. It was alright. Clearly not memorable to stick out in my memory. 🤷♀️
Overall, I'm glad this was free. I don't think Baden and Dirty Player were enough to give this a better rating. I also didn't realize these were full length books. I probably saw the one familiar name and the $0 cost and one clicked it. I'd only reread the two mentioned above.
Got this free and it's a good collection. Truthfully, I'm a subscriber to Sawyer Bennett's mailer and enjoyed her stories, and when she advertised this collection was free I jumped at the chance to read her contribution, Baden. Not all the stories here are 5-star reads -- in fact, none are -- but it's been a nice have on my e-reader that introduced me to new authors I haven't been exposed to before.
What’s not to love about some hockey men?!?! So far I’ve only read the stories by Natasha Madison, Stacey Lynn and Sawyer Bennett. All three ladies have several series worth of great hockey stories. Ilas of now I have not read the other authors but I plan to read them soon.
Some good samples here - although most of them are the first book of a paid series. Since I read so much I rely on Kindle Unlimited to keep my reading affordable - therefore I won’t be reading the rest of the paid series offered in this anthology.
All of the stories in this NHL anthology were riveting, touching, twisted, and all have a happy ending. I loved them all, but I have to say that Baden and Sophie captured my heart. I bawled throughout the unraveling of their story, and when it ended, I had a sense of calm and smile. Love me some NHL romance!!
If you love hockey romances, this book is for you.
For me, this was a mix of great new stories and some stories I’ve already read. While I did struggle to move past the stories I had seen previously, I’m pleased I did persist. All round this book was great and would be perfect for those new to hockey romances to get a well-rounded intro to the genre.
Had read a few of these books previously but my favourite is Natasha Maddison and sawyer Bennett. None were bad, it was a good selection and good introduction the authors and their series.
I would have easily given 4 stars because I love hockey romances. But the fact that everything was written in 1st POV/simple present kind of riuned the fun for me. I know it's a matter of personal preference - it simply isn't for everyone
What a great compilation of amazing hockey books! Some of these were fist time authors for me, and I’m a fan. These stories all have great female leads and hot, swoon worthy hockey heroes. I do love it when the hockey good guys are all in from the start! Each book packed drama and serious heat!
Hot, hot, hot collection of hockey romances, a little something for every reader! Can't say there was even a single book in this anthology that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Well worth the read!
