The past has come back to haunt us... way too literally.
Our investigation into my dad's murder has taken an even stranger turn than I could have imagined. One that's shattered everything my stepbrother and long-time love believed about himself and his family. One that's thrown all of our plans for a loop.
But the four guys standing by my side won't back down, and neither will I. If there's a way to see justice served, we'll find it.
And if there isn't... then at least we'll go down together.

This book was absolutely a decent ending to a four book series. It definitely maintains that spice level that I was enjoying from the previous three books. It however, did not solve the character development questions I had between the female main character in the male main character. I also feel like the relationship between the female and a male's still was not quite developed as I mentioned, in my review of the third book.
I also had some issues with the development of the situation between the mom/best friend and the female main character. She spent a good portion of this book worrying that her best friend and mother would never understand what was happening, but when she finally came clean, They accepted it so easily, that it almost didn't even make sense as to why the female main character was so concerned. I also realized a giant plot hole that I just do not understand how it happened. Logan's mother was partially behind the murder of maddie's father. And Maddie's mother somehow ended up marrying Logan's father. That's a giant coincidence that is never explained. These people who have no other opportunity to meet, happened to meet each other when they are so involved in a murder/organ transplant scheme with their significant others without their knowledge? I just find that super far-fetched unless I missed somewhere that explained that.
Overall, I'm keeping the rating of a 3/5 for the series of books. Very solid spiciness with a very decent plot and murder mystery plot point. I definitely found a couple book boyfriends to add to the list from this book.
Wow…the Vigilante Kings series and Twisted Empire was filled with sooo much drama, angst, secrets, revelations, all the feels, and so so much heat!! Madelyn, Beckett, Logan, Dexter, and Slade all have grown from the beginning of the series to the end of Twisted Empire. I highly recommend Twisted Empire (just remember this is not a stand alone and has to be read in order), Vigilante Kings series, and Eva Chance and Harlow King as authors. Eva and Harlow teamed up and wrote a kick a$$ book that I enjoyed immensely. I plan on diving into Chaos Crew next. I read Crooked Paradise with Mercy, Kaige, Wylder, Gideon, and Rowan (had a brief cameo appearance and have been mentioned in passing during the series). Loved catching up with them. Eva Chance had been noted to saying all of her books are connected in some way and I love that. Which is why I know that The Chaos Crew is about Decima who is one of the Devil’s Dozen and as such will be a strong, resilient woman. Anyway, whichever book that you read from either Eva or Harlow I am sure you will enjoy it and will get lost in an exciting world of bad a$$ women and alpha heroes and in some cases anti heroes! Happy Reading!!
I wanted to give this 5 stars but 1 thing stopped that. 1st this story or plot was really good I thought. I loved the guys alot. I even liked Maddie. But... they are all in college and been dealing with what they were since junior in HS. So why why the guys were in college they still acted as if the were in HS all squirmy and stuff. They had killed before even if it was self defense and they had been doing illegal things. Even if it wasn't like they were currently dealing with they should been stronger imo. Even Beckett. For a leader he seemed pretty tame for a syndicate boss atleast from others I've read. But still he was the strongest of them. I really liked how Logan got badass too. I just felt the touchiness was a bit much. Being a bit more badass would of been better I've read the Skorned Princess series with Wyler and the guys now they were badass. If these guys were like that it would of been better but please understand this was a good series. And please take time to read it. I think you'll enjoy it. The author is really good too. So read the other books as well.
The series finale starts where the last book ended, with Madelyn's abduction by Logan's mother. Seems she really is still alive and connected with Doom's Seed. Fortunately, she is not very skilled in kidnapping techniques and Maddie will manage to escape. Things go downhill from there as the attacks against Beckett's businesses escalate and Madelyn and Logan have to move their parents to safety (which means they have to spill at least part of the story to them). Maddie and her four guys end up staying together at Beckett's family home where they have increased security. Now they have to figure out how to bring down Doom's Seed once and for all before he burns everything down around them. Can they do it or will Beckett's father, who is still considered to be the the Storm, bring their efforts to a halt? Some old friends make an appearance. Drama, determination, and of course sexy times! I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Okay so this first book? I feel like it was so lacking that I almost didn't even bother reading book two and I would have actually been really missing out on everything this book really is?
I understand a first book in a series is an introduction but it just wasn't even that. Once this went on and opened up into like an actual crime syndicate vibe - I was like wow okay so this is actually what I signed up for.
I will admit it was a bit - much for me to just happily believe that Yvonne (that was her name right?) was involved in the death of Mad's father; fakes her death leaving her Holland single and he just HAPPENS to end up with the woman who is now a widow partially because of his own wife?! Like did we get any context as to how that happened or did I just miss it?!
Anyway - my point is over all the later books brought this series up from a no / 1 star rating; up to a two star. If the first book was condensed, and the pacing of the rest of the books was altered to accommodate that- plus we got a little more context to some of the far fetched aspects of the plot it could easily be a 3/4 star.
Gripping conclusion Another awesome read in this final installment. Maddie is a heroine made of strong stuff and she was not going to give up. It helps that she has an awesome support system with her guys who are loyal to a fault. I love that they all worked together to solve the mystery, which had plenty unexpected twists. Betrayal was at the heart of this story as Logan had the shock of his life to come to terms with. I also loved that we got a visit from some other characters from other series as well. This series has lots of violence, plenty of steam and a great action packed plot. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
I really enjoyed this book even though I think the scene between the four of them was kind of underwhelming. I didn’t really read this book for specifically those reasons but I did enjoy the overall plot of the book in the series in general. I do wish I got to see them do a few more mundane tasks with each other just to enjoy them as couples. This is a great series and I would definitely read it again. I’m hoping the next time I pick up the series that may be the fourth book will have an audiobook to it. I figured it doesn’t have one yet since it’s on the newer end but still can’t wait.
If you enjoy reading dark themed romance with mafia vibes, but also want something a little lighter, I think this series is a good match.
Another gripping, fast-paced read to finish this four book series. I have loved getting to know the Vigilante Kings and Maddie has grown to match all of them as a badass Queen.
I have found the series to be quick enjoyable reads. Light spice matches the plot and length of the book. I love how determined Maddie is. She never gives up.
Why Choose Mafia vibes Medical mystery/ conspiracy Disability Representation HEA
Enjoyable conclusion to the series. It starts off where book 3 ended with Logan in shock and Maddie in a precarious position.
Beckett has been my favourite throughout this series and I would have loved bigger cameos from the others and would have loved Anthea to have a proper role in this because of her relationship with Beckett and she's my favourite.
I think as these guys were younger than the two previous series I struggled to relate to it more, but overall an enjoyable seriss
Twisted Empire is book four in the series Vigilante Kings by authors Harlow King & Eva Chance. Well this was one heck of a ride. Intense and challenging that was their path to victory. Ok sounds like I’m writing an ad for a commercial- lol. Seriously though, this story was crazy intense. It was a winding road- along the way some sweet deliciousness was had. Also on a sad note not all people made it to the end. Yet just maybe with the help of friends (in low places) they can get everything they need. Enjoy!!
Twisted Empire is the final book in the Vigilante Kings series and we finally get the ending these characters deserved. There were more answers revealed and we get to see a few familiar characters making a small cameo. There wasn't much steam in this book as some of the others, but the plot kept me engrossed. This was a great last book and I'm glad everything was resolved.
Maddie and the boys are back for the exciting ending to this wild series. Lots of surprises and danger lurk in this one as expected. But I was glued to the end to see how it would end and what final secrets would be uncovered this time. Lots of things to survive in this book. Lots of steam and action had by all and Maddie and her guys are always so cute together.
This finale book is oh so good! Even when all the chips are down, Maddie believes everything will work out in the end. I absolutely love Maddie and her relationships with her guys even when there is stuff that stands in the way, they fight to be together. Filled with danger, drama, violence, frustration, and smexy times, this has been one hell of a journey, one that I have very much enjoyed.
Maddie’s life just goes from one rush to another! A loving family broken by a mysterious death. A stepbrother with hostility beyond understanding. A syndicate criminal boss who has attachments to more things than anyone can comprehend.
This series is an emotional ride from beginning to end. It is WELL worth the read!
This was a good ending to the story. I was expecting a little bit more but all in all it was good. I do feel this book lacked in some of the spice and would have enjoyed one closing spicy scene but that's just my preference.
It's amazing how far these characters have come from book one. The story wrapped up nicely and the characters had some great growth. This was a wonderful series and I look forward to more in this world.
I thought everything was lost and doomseed had won .Beckett won’t back down and listen to his dads defeatist attitude after everything he had done to build the empire. Loved the cameo from the Crooked Paradise crew so much . Desiree and Aaron narrated perfectly as usual.
Maddie still calling Logan her stepbrother when she's been fucking him for more than a year is really eww.
I don't know, the whole mystery let me down. How can Maddie's father be the only one killed because he wanted to bring light to the organs trafficking? It seemed like a giant organisation with a lot of doctors and medical staff involved. And Logan's mother being the obsessed loving woman made no sense. The reasoning was lazy.
I have enjoyed this world from the very beginning. This one will keep you on your toes trying to figure out what is going on, and will everything turn out ok. I read and listened to this and enjoyed the dual narrators. I look forward to the next world
What a way to wrap up the series. This was another action-packed book. I love that the characters were finally able to find closure. Not everyone gets a happy ending but Madelyn and her men sure do. I loved it!
What a great read, you know you won't be disappointed when you pick up any Eva Chance books, but these two authors together will send you on an action packed read
Great ending to the series. It keeps up with the twists and suspense until the very end. Maddie really gets to show how strong she is in this book and she and her men grow even closer by the end.
Maddie and the guys are so close to the end! They have to be careful. One wrong move could be fatal. With his mum back from the dead, the plot thickens!
Great ending to this series. The kind of action I have come to expect from this author along with some steamy times and great RH camaraderie. Nice seeing some favs from other series too.
Book 4 in Twisted Empire is the final book in the Vigilante Kings series . Maddie the heroine and Logan are shocked . You’ll you will need to see why. The whole gang finds out a syndicate criminal boss that you need to find where his fingers are not in So sorry the series ended Aaron and Desiree nailed the characters and scenes for the whole story
