I met the man I would marry when I was twelve years old. We went on our first date to my junior prom when we were sixteen. My hair was teased in true 90's style, stuffed with baby's breath, and my blue dress had the puffiest of sleeves. I felt like Cinderella on her way to the ball.

Our romance was a classic slow burn. Seriously, it took him two years to finally kiss me! But it was worth the wait. We were married at the age of twenty-two and have been chasing our happily ever after since then.

It wasn't all hearts and roses. We supported each other through college, four kids, multiple jobs and moves, and various emotional and health struggles. We've remained best friends through it all, which is why I believe in true love and happily ever afters.

The challenges and successes of finding and fighting to keep love are what I strive to bring to my stories. When I was growing up, everyone acted like finding your love was the end. After that, everything would be wonderful, but life isn't like that. Every day is a choice, and I strive to bring that reality to my romance stories.

MY TAKE
What charming and touching story! Jackie is on a forced vacation. It didn't start that was. It was supposed to be a fun Christmas break with her widowed mother. Bur, see, there was this car accident. Her mom wasn't killed immediately, enough time to make a request of Jackie but not enough time for the young woman to see her mom.

So, she accepts her mother's dying wish and takes a bittersweet trip. None of it is what she expected, especially Austin, the house man assigned to help Jackie fulfill her mother's final request.

A wonderful book, perfect for the holiday season.

I received this as an audiobook advanced reader copy. Enjoyed the female narrator. It’s dual POV, third person, single narrator.

I loved this and it was closer to 5 stars until the male main character got martyrish and wouldn’t stand up for himself to his parents and pushed the heroine away. I was disappointed that he needed to be pushed by his sisters before he reached out to the heroine and got over himself.

This was a heartwarming and tear-wrenching story that starts with the heroine losing her mom around Thanksgiving. Her mom and she were super close and had planned a month-long vacation together. The mom’s last wishes are for her to go on vacation by herself… and her mom has miraculously left her a series of letters to accompany that vacation. It doesn’t make sense for someone to write these kinds of letters when she’s going to be side-by-side… but it makes the story work.

It's fairly insta-love since they are committed and in love within a few weeks and engaged within months. But for the most part, I believed in them… and there was enough seriousness that I believed they could bond quickly over him comforting her through her grief and her encouraging him to be brave.

Lots of great side characters and I can see how we’re being set up for a series featuring this family/town. I’ll definitely look for future stories.

Safety deets
- No other women or other men. We don’t hear about their history with other people at all, other than a very general way.
- The two kiss… otherwise, no spicy times.
- They get their HEA at the end.

A Home for Christmas is a beautiful and emotional story about one woman's journey to finding, well, a home for Christmas. It was such a sweet story, one that I felt deeply. Her mom's death in the beginning of the book hit me harder than I would have imagine considering I was still getting to know the characters. I was instantly drawn into the story and had to read the rest of the book.

I cried at times throughout the story. The way the more emotional moments were woven into all the lighthearted, fun events made sure the book didn't sit too heavy. But, the more emotional aspects were definitely given enough space. The way grief was portrayed felt so real.

The characters were amazing. I loved everyone I met and can't wait to read about them in other books. I really can't wait after reading that epilogue setting up the next book.

The Christmas elements were done so well. I wish there might have been just a little more of the setting and events going on just because I enjoyed them so much. I wasn't ready to leave the world of this story and plan to check out more of the books set here.

The story was sweet and clean. A really cute story with even better characters. I think it was a great read for the Christmas holiday.

I would like to thank Author River Ford and Story Origin for this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Jackie is headed home to spend the holidays with her mom Evelyn(yay that's my name!). A sad turn of events leads her to have a Christmas adventure alone. Austin works at his family's cabin rental shop but yearns to do more. His commitment to family has kept him from persuing his true dreams. When Jackie shows up in the town of Sugar Creek to stay at one of their cabins, she is instantly smitten with Austin. Can he help make the holidays a bit easier to get through? Will Jackie's presence be just what Austin needs to make a decision that will change his life for the better? I enjoyed this book so much! Sugar Creek and the people who live there are so charming! I love the illustrated map of Sugar Creek in the beginning as it helped me picture the town in my mind. I found myself tearing up throughout the book. Jackie had a close bond with her mother and I can completely relate. Austin is a sweetheart of a man who deserves the love of a good woman. This book will leave you smiling.

Such an emotional and sweet story! It brought tears to my eyes as well as some good laughs, all the while pulling at my heartstrings. Jackie has a job that she loves. She gets to travel the world attending various comic conventions and play games. But because of how her job takes her away so much, she was not able to be with her mother when she passes. Now that Christmas is here, she is dreading having to spend it alone. She's not looking forward to going to Vermont, but that is the only way for her to get the letters her mother left for her. Austin has always lived in Vermont and now he takes care of his family's cabin rental business. Before she died, Jackie's mom had a final request, and Austin is the one who will be helping with that request.
This was a clean and wonderfully sweet story filled with such emotion, I couldn't help feel for the characters and it didn't take long to completely fall in love with them. The story was well-written and pulled me in from the very start and I became invested till the end. A beautiful holiday story you don't want to miss out on!

A Home for Christmas is one of those stories that gently wraps around you like a warm blanket on a snowy night. Sugar Creek, Vermont may be the last place Jackie wants to be, but it quickly becomes the place she needs most.

Jackie’s grief feels raw and real. Her regret over not making it to her mother in time is heartbreaking, and her loneliness during the holidays is something that’s easy to connect with. What I loved most was how her journey wasn’t rushed, her healing unfolds naturally through memories, letters, and unexpected moments of kindness.

Austin is the perfect small-town counterpart: grounded, dependable, and quietly thoughtful. Their connection builds slowly and sweetly, with no forced drama. The scavenger hunt adds a charming touch and gives the story a fun, cozy structure while allowing their relationship to grow in a meaningful way.

This book balances holiday warmth with emotional depth. It’s not just about romance, it’s about grief, forgiveness, and finding home in places (and people) you never expected. If you enjoy Christmas stories with heart, healing, and just the right amount of romance, this one is well worth the read.

Really enjoyed listening to Austin and Jackie's romance.Jenn Lee was very good bringing the romance alive. There were lots of tears, but there were so many sweet moments too.
Jackie has lost her mum and is heartbroken. She does not want to go on the holiday her mum booked for them in Suger Creek without her.She has to go if she wants the letters her mum wrote.
She meets Austin who helps her with the christmas tasks she needs to complete and he is the one to give her the letters.
They form a romantic connection, but Jackie is only in Suger Creek for the holidays and Austin has lived there all his life.
With a little help from his family, friends and the Suger Mama's the towns matchmakers they get to their heartwarming happily ever after.
It was a sweet romance with heartbreak, tears, laughter, love,
family, friendships, small town love and meddling and a happily ever after.

I absolutely loved A Home for Christmas. From the very beginning, this story pulled me in and kept me emotionally invested all the way through. River Ford does a wonderful job crafting a story that feels both heartfelt and authentic, making it easy to connect with the characters and care about their journeys.

The pacing was spot on—never rushed, yet never dragging—and allowed the story to unfold naturally. The characters were incredibly likeable and relatable, adding depth and warmth to the overall listening experience. It’s the kind of story that makes you want to keep listening just a little longer because you’re so hooked on what happens next.

Jenn Lee’s narration was a perfect match for the story. Her delivery brought the emotions, personalities, and tone to life beautifully, enhancing an already strong story. This was a thoroughly enjoyable listen and an easy five stars for me.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

This was the second book by River Ford that I have read since I read Catch Me If I Fall first and then backtracked to this one. I really enjoyed getting to read Jackie and Austin's story after reading about them in the Darcy's story earlier. This series is really good and I enjoyed getting to know more about the Fletcher family in this book. The end of the story was really sweet. I look forward to reading more from this series including the upcoming book about Brandon Fletcher and Summer that is supposed to come out in June 2024 Memories of Summer.

I loved Austin and Jackie’s love story in the little town of Sugar Creek. It was a sweet contemporary romance with all of the feels. Warning: Do not read out listen to the first chapter where you don’t want anyone to see you cry. It is very emotional. Jackie has to go in a trip without her mom. She meets Austin who supports her and makes her feel things that she didn’t expect. I couldn’t put this book down. I’m so glad that I discovered River Ford. Her books are very well written and not to angsty. I really enjoyed listening to the narration. She did an excellent job with it. I can’t wait to read the next book!

A very sweet small town romance. With the loss of her mom, Christmas is going to be hard. Her mom has left her some letters. But she has to go on the getaway vacation they had planned together, before she is allowed to read them. This is her story at a small town resort cabin in Vermont, where she meets Austin and his family.
Lots of feels. Sorrow. Despair. Loneliness. Scenic beauty. Friendship. Love.
I listened to this lengthy romance, not wanting to put it down. So sweet. So enchanting. The narration was wonderful, too.

This book wrecked me emotionally and then out me back together again. Jackie lost her mom at the worst time. And to make matters even harder on her, she couldn’t get to get mother before it happened. That was so hard to read as I’ve lost my own mother and I wasn’t there.
But having to go back home to collect the letters her mother left was so hard for her. And that’s why I was thankful for Austin. She need him after she got there. And he turned out to be her rock during the hard moments she went through. He was such an amazing guy. I loved the way they connected. Hire he helped her slowly heal.
This was such a beautiful book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Having lost my dad during the holidays, it was very easy to understand Jackie’s pain as she went through the motions of the holidays. Putting up a Christmas tree and decorating it can be quite painful if you have sad memories attached. Austin helps Jackie to make new memories which is very helpful in the healing process. The author did a wonderful job of creating this beautiful town as the backdrop. It makes me want to visit this fictional town very much! I am looking forward to hearing more stories from Sugar Creek and the Sugar mamas!

A bittersweet story.Jackie is planning to visit her mother, who dies resulting from a car accident. Her mother had time to leave a last wish, but did not have time to see each other before mom passed on. Jackie heads to Vermont as her mother requested, there she meets Austin, who is handling the family cabin rental business. These two hit it off, and a relationship develops. This is a sweet story. Narration was well done.

A sweet wholesome romance story - starting at a heartbreak, and finishing with a HEA, with a taste for the next book in the series, which I would love to read as well.
I really liked the characters, the dynamics between the siblings and the sweet small town characters.
The narrator did a great job narrating this story.

Audiobook: I enjoyed this audiobook. Jackie Hobbs' mother's last wish was that Jackie spend her vacation in Sugar Creek, Vermont and participate in a special scavenger hunt. Austin Fletcher agreed to help Jackie with the scavenger hunt. The story was sad and heartwarming. The characters were personable. Jenn Lee's narration was fine, and her performance kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Great story with romance, family, snow and holiday fun. This takes place in Vermont during December. This is the last wish of Jackie's mother. She tries to get out of it but it turns out to be the best thing for her. The story does get sentimental and only a litter teary at times. Both Jackie and Austin have things to figure out but they do get their happily ever after. The story ends with a lead in to the next. Wonderful narrator.

Jackie’s story is so emotional. She went through so much during her trip. As she grieved she enjoyed things she loved. Austin was amazing, things quickly tied from helping someone in need to realizing he liked her. All The events in Sugar Creek were amazing, I loved the scavenger hunt and how it brought Austin and Jackie together, as well as make him realize her needs to stand up for what he wants. So much to love about this Christmas romance.

This was a super sweet christmas story. Very much reminded me of christmas films. Two losts souls finding comfort in each other and finding a home in each other although the intial reason drawing them together was very different. Really heartwarming stuff and a good distraction from real life. Loved it.

Great sweet Christmasy read! There is a death of a parent at the beginning that may be hard for some to hear… but the town of Sugar Creek is darling and I’m excited to read more in this series! This book is a sweet love story with Christmas as a beautiful backdrop but not the main show which I really appreciated!

This was such a sweet, cozy, emotional story.
Jackie is grieving, but following through with last wishes, which bring her to a small town in Vermont, where she meets Austin. He is so sweet and is there for her when she needs it, and is so incredibly understanding of her grief.
You fall in love with the town, and with this sweet family.

This book felt just like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie. It had all the cheesy (in the best way) holiday moments with the mistletoe kiss and noisy but sweet family. The FMC was adorable and spunky. The MMC was sweet and thoughtful. There were times where the storyline felt a little bit surface level. However, this was still a very sweet holiday romance.

This is a wonderfully written and narrated story from the Sugar Creek series.
I love the slow but honest way the story flows. I can see the activities happening in real life to someone. I can also see the slow growing love between Jackie and Austin. Descriptions are done so I could see everything all the wonderful things happening around town.
