Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's Eggs
Two Dinosaur Stories in One Book. Flip it over and read another story. These dinosaurs are best friends, but sometimes they disagree. A present for the Volcano
Spike (an ankylosaurus) sees a volcano erupting. He thinks it is unhappy. He wants to give the volcano a present to cheer it up. He gets his friend Conifer (a tyrannosaurus) to help him build a necklace of stones around the base of the volcano. When it does erupt, the stones block the lava flow.
Saving Conifer's Eggs
Spike and Conifer smell smoke and know they must leave the forest. But Conifer is sitting on her eggs. She has three eggs and only two hands. When she lifts her nest, she must walk carefully so they don't clack together. Spike is impatient and swings his tail back and forth. He knocks down a Ginko tree. The two friends decide to take the fallen tree to the river and use it to float away from the fire.
Learn about volcanos and egg-laying dinosaurs. Learn about friendship, too.

This was a cute and adventurous children's story! There are two books in this collection, and both are fun and colorful. I think this is aimed a little more for older children, but it was still fun to read regardless. I like dinosaurs, so I really enjoyed this one and I can't wait to read it to my daughter when she gets older!

I originally picked this book/books for my 7 year old daughter. She has a speech issue right now, so she is a little lower on the current reading level that she should be. Anyway, she did GREAT with these! And who doesn't love Dinosaurs! I would recommend this book for any 5-8 year old, maybe younger if your reading it to your dyno loving child(ren). This book is great as an eBook, but I personally would recommend the other version because kids love to hold books and this one flips over and it's another story! How fun is that, right?! On to the books.... The first book (A Present for the Volcano) is about two Dino friends and a Volcano. One dinosaur (Conifer) is afraid of the volcano and wants to run, while the other Dinosaur (Spike) thinks that the volcano is sad and needs a present. The two dynos give the volcano a necklace to make the volcano feel better. It takes all day, but their gift is complete. The volcano bursts and the dynos run. Read the book to find out the ending!! I don't want to give anything away ;) The next book ( Saving Conifer's Eggs) is the flip side book, book 2. Conifer has a nest with three eggs that she is sitting on. Spike smells smoke and comes to warn her. They must run from the fire, but she can't carry her three eggs with her two little hands. The friends face a few problems as they try to make it to safety with the three eggs. Will they make it safety? What happens with the eggs? Do they break along the way? Get burned? How do Conifer and Spike fair at the end?! Read this fun children's books to find out more!! Both books are so fun! I really think kids will love not only the pictures, but the story too!

Dinosaur Friends is two books in one. In Book One, A Present for the Volcano, Spike tries to make an erupting volcano happy when he thinks it is sad. Spike convinces his friend Conifer to help him build a necklace out of rocks at the base of the volcano. When the volcano erupts Spike and Conifer are thrilled when the necklace of rocks stops the lava flow.
In Book Two, Saving Conifer’s Eggs, Spike and Conifer smell smoke from a nearby wildfire. They know they must immediately leave the forest and get to safety. Conifer must save her eggs that she has been sitting on, but she has three eggs and only two hands so she does not know how she can save all three eggs. Spike tells her to pick up her nest and carry it which she does. Conifer walks slowly and knows that she must be very careful to not knock the eggs together or she will break them. Spike, on the other hand, is impatient and starts swinging his tail back and forth. In doing so, he knocks down a tree which he uses to push shrubs out of the way and make their way to the river. Once at the river Spike and Conifer use the log to ride down the river and get away from the fire.
These two books were such a cute read about friendship and working together. Along the way we also learn about dinosaurs who lay eggs, what happens when a volcano erupts, and the importance of teamwork. A great read for any child that loves dinosaurs. In fact, I think I will be purchasing another copy for my friend’s son who has a birthday coming up soon. I highly recommend!

This 2 in 1 book was such a cute read. Lois Wickstrom never disappoints in the lesson being built into a story that is so easily understandable for little children. In the Volcano story, we see our buddies Spike and Conifer are worried about the volcano erupting. Conifer will never leave Spike so she asks him if the volcano might want a present. We see the buddies thinking that the volcano is going to erupt because it is mad (such cute personification). Together they built a necklace for the volcano around its base made of stone that took them all day. Once the last stone was in place the volcano erupted but lo and behold, the stone necklace they made at the base of the volcano held the lava back. Spike says: “See, we dint need to run. The necklace made the volcano happy.” I just love these two dinos!
The second book we see Spike and Conifer team up to save Conifer’s eggs from a forest fire. When Spike smelled smoke, he went to Conifer’s nest to let her know that they needed to get away. Conifer refused to leave her eggs and so she picked up her entire nest and carried it with them. The eggs were too loose in the nest, so she had to slow down and walk carefully. The friends knew that fire could not burn water, so they decided to take the nest with the eggs to the river. Spike felled a giant tree and pushed it to the river where the two friends used it as a raft and floated away from the fire.

Dinosaur friends is actually 2 books in 1, A Present for the Volcano, and Saving Conifers Eggs. They were both adorably cute, and adventurous. This duo Conifer and Spike show wonderful problem solving skills that are great for young readers to learn. In A Present for the Volcano Conifer wants to run away and hide from the volcano, but Spike says the volcano is just sad and needs a gift. This shows how we all have a bad days and may be feeling just like that volcano but with a little understanding and thoughtfulness we will always feel better in the end which is what I took away from this book. In Conifers situation she was trusting in her friend Spike and was able to overcome her fears. In Saving Conifers Eggs Spike was the one who had to overcome his fears and help Conifer get her eggs to safety, away from the fire, even though he cannot swim. By staying calm the duo are able to solve their problems step-by-step. Having 3 eggs but only two hands could be solved by carrying the whole nest. When the threat of the eggs breaking came up Spike was able to take down a tree and clear them a path in the end using the tree as a raft to carry them down the river. I really enjoyed sharing these books with my kids. We homeschool so these books broached many topics in one making that much easier for lesson planning. We were able to talk about the history of dinosaurs, how they lay eggs, and how they became extinct. Volcanos. Teamwork. I can absolutely recommend these books!

Dinosaur Friends: A Present for the Volcano
This story was short and sweet. It's a story of Spike and Conifer who are best friends. Spike sees an unhappy (erupting) volcano and wants to give it a present. The two friends build the volcano, a necklace of stones, which is made to look like a ring of stones around the base of the volcano. Eventually, the volcano fully erupts and the friends go running. When they stop to look back, they realize their necklace of stones is blocking any flowing lava.
Dinosaur Friends: Saving Conifer’s Eggs
This is another short and sweet story about Spike and Conifer. When the forest where they live catches fire, Spike comes to warn his friend, Conifer. Conifer isn’t sure what to do since she can’t carry all 3 eggs with only 2 hands, and she has to be very careful that they don’t break. When Conifer is worried about her next, Spike waits impatiently and ends up knocking down a tree with his long tail. The two friends use the tree to safely escape the forest fire by using it to float down the river.

I got these two books because my 10 year old is a dino nerd. He reads all kinds of dinosaur books . These books have two simple stories, both revolving around an Ankylosaurus and a T-Rex. In the first story, the Ankylo, Spike wants to give a present to a Volcano which is dormant and would’nt erupt. He builds a necklace out of rocks around the Volcano, and when the volcano indeed erupts , it is the necklace which stops the lava from overflowing to the ground.
In the second story, the two dinosaurs have to escape the wild fire. When the T-Rex , Conifer is finding it hard to take three eggs in her two hands, Spike accidentally knocks down a tree by impatiently swinging his tail. The two dinosaurs escape the forest into the river on the tree.
What is not to like about these books, nothing. This book is meant for kids, and me and my son had a blast reading these books. Looking forward to more on dinosaur series from this author.

I read these two Dinosaur Friends books, A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's Eggs, to my 6 year old son. He loved the pictures and guessing what would come next. He liked Saving Conifer's Eggs more. He insisted on googling "ginko trees" after reading, to see if they were real. Thank you for adding in unknown trees, to help my little guy learn! The pictures are really cute and colorful.
We also had a discussion on the names of the dinosaurs. He knew Spike was the anklyo due to having spikes but wanted to know where Conifer came from. Then was mad because a carnivore shouldn't be named after a plant- so there's some 6 year old feedback lol
A Present for the Volcano was really cute. My son was sure the Lava would overflow, but was happy the friends were safe and were able to work together.

Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's Eggs by Lois Wickstrom
This is a cute 2 in 1 children’s story about two dinosaurs Spike and Conifer . These stories are about friendship and how sometimes friends may not agree on everything and how they work through their disagreements. My four year old son loves books and especially dinosaurs. We’ve read several times already and guaranteed to be read several more times in the future. My son was very eager to try and help the dinosaurs that he went and put on dinosaur saving clothes and was ready to go help. Can Spike and Conifer agree on what’s best? I highly recommend reading this cute children’s book that I truly enjoyed reading with my son. We look forward to reading more from this Author.

These were really cute books! They are not the first I’ve read by this author and I always get excited seeing new content from her! Overall I really enjoyed these books. The illustrations are beautiful and the story in both can be very relatable for children of a young age.
In both the books the main characters Spike and Conifer work together to overcome each other’s fears and problem-solve to help one another. I read both of these books to my daughter and she loved them. She loved looking at the pictures and pointing to the dinosaurs while I read the stories. They caught her attention as well as my own right away and as an early childhood educator, I am looking forward to introducing these well-written and illustrated stories into my classroom!
I would highly recommend these books to anyone with children or as a gift for a child who loves dinosaurs and reading!

I love Lois Wickstrom books!! This is a special 2 books in 1.
In A Present for the Volcano, Conifer, a T-Rex and Spike, an ankylosaurus, are viewing the beautiful sight of nature but see a volcano that looks very unhappy. They decided to work together to make it a gift, which in turn, makes the volcano happy.
In Saving Conifer's Eggs, Spike finds Conifer guarding her nest of eggs to let her know that there is a forest fire happening around them. They need to find a safe place to keep Conifer's eggs so they work together in order to find that spot.
The illustrations in these books done by Nicolas Milano are very beautifully done! I love the stories too, how they use science to solve a problem.

This is a combination of two cute children’s stories in one book. The first story, A Present for the Volcano, has the two dinosaur friends work together to make a necklace for the volcano who is about to erupt. In the second story, Saving Conifer’s Eggs, the friends are united to work together to keep a forest fire from damaging Conifer’s eggs. I think both of these stories would be a good addition to a classroom library. There are social, emotional messages of cooperation and teamwork, creative thinking to problem solve, emotional regulation, and friendship in the book. Kids who enjoy dinosaur stories would also engage well with these books. The illustrations also add a vivid picture to the words.

This book is a 2 for one book, just flip it over for the next story. Spike ( an ankylosaurus) and Conifer (a tyrannosaurus) are friends and work well together. Sometimes they disagree but most of the time not. When a volcano in the distance is erupting what do you think happens next? In Book 2 there is a fire and Conifer has got to save her eggs. Spike comes to help her and they make a plan to get to safety. Where do you think they go? I will not give out spoilers! I have been following this author and her children's books. They all have something new for the children to learn. The illustrations are just as interesting as the story itself. I recommend this book to teachers and children alike.

Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's Eggs by Lois Wickstrom .This is an awesome storybook for children. My 4 and 9 year old nephews loved it. The first book is A Present for the Volcano and its about Spike and Conifer who are best friends. When they see a volcano Spike thinks its frowning because its sad so they decide to make it a necklace. The second book is Saving Conifer's Eggs and its about the forest being on fire and Conifer having 3 eggs. Conifer is scared she can't get out with all three eggs. Will they be able to devise a plan to save them all? The 2 stories are so sweet and full of lessons on friendship and working together. They will make any 4-9 year old happy!

Another book that I picked up for a teacher friend’s classroom and this is a perfect addition because it is two stories in one book. I loved the illustrations and that both books shared the same characters. I loved how they were able to teach one another to solve a problem. I also loved that the friends were able to comfort one another when things were happening, and they wanted to run away. This is a splendid example of not being afraid to confront a challenge head on. This is a terrific book for early elementary readers although there are a couple of words that may be a bit difficult for them. But if you use that as a teaching tool then they will be perfectly fine. Highly recommended for kids and classrooms alike.

Conifer and Spike are dinosaurs and they are best friends, in this book we hear two tales of their friendship and how even though sometimes they disagree, they work together in the end.
In the first book, the nearby volcano is erupting, all Conifer wants to do is run away, but Spike insists on giving the volcano a present and decides on a necklace, so together they move a ring of stones around the base, but will this keep the volcano happy?
In book 2, Spike and Conifer return, but this time there is a forest fire, they both agree that they have to leave, but Conifer only has two hands and three eggs! Will they all be able to escape the fire?
This is a book for young and old alike in this tale charming tale talking about science, dinosaurs and of course friendship.

Dinosaur Friends: 2 books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's Eggs by Lois Wickstrom
These aren't the first books I've read by the author. The author has created several kids books and each is better than the last. My daughter absolutely loved these books.
Saving Conifer's Eggs
A fire breaks out and Spike tries to get Conifer away. Conifer is worried about her nest. She has two arms and three eggs. The quote I chose for Conifer is: "Push the tree."
A Present for the Volcano
A volcano is about to erupt. Conifer and Spike are too close to it. Spike decides to make it a necklace. After they're done the necklace keeps the lava away from them. The quote I chose for Conifer is: "Now we're safe."
Highly recommended for Kids & Family lovers.

Both books, A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer’s Eggs were so cute. They are very short which I think its perfect for children as they usually don’t want to sit still too long, especially to read. The art is beautiful, it captured my attention right away. In both of the books, Conifer and her friend Spike argue about little things but, in the end, they work together to solve whatever trouble they are in. They are both great friends to each other, and it shows kids how friends can be different and have different ideas, or feelings but as long as they listen to each other and work together, things will work out.

Dinosaur Friends are two cute action-adventure stories. A Present for the Volcano is one book and turn it over and discover Saving Conifer's Eggs. Two books in one. I had a book like that when I was little and I loved it.
These picture books are wonderfully illustrated and beautifully colourful. They are fun, charming and original. These imaginative tales delight children aged 4 to 8. I read them to my 5-year-old and 3-year-old grandsons and they fell in love with the characters and the pictures.
These dinosaurs are best friends, but sometimes they don’t always see eye to eye but they are always there for each other.
What child doesn’t love dinosaurs and fun tales?

A Present for The Volcano speaks volumes about perspective and perceptions. Conifer was worried all day and just wanted to get out of the situation, but her friend did what they could to make the situation better. They prepared and took action, and while it was questionable how it would turn out, Conifer decided to trust her friend and help. And in the end, she was able to see from a different point of view. These stories are adorable. Mama Conifer T-Rex and her ankylosaurus friend work together when a problem comes up. Even when things look dark, they find a way. The artwork is amazing too. I love the textures and the colors. I definitely recommend both!

I love when I get a new book by this author to enjoy with my children as they always connect with the stories so well. These two books were no different. My daughter loves these books as they are easy for her to understand and follow along with. She really becomes invested in the stories and requests to read them multiple times.
These two books were the first time my son has also shown an interest. He loved the pictures of the Dinosaurs and kept pointing to them trying to ‘roar’. This author has created two stories that appeal to the younger audience so well, and spans across multiple age ranges with ease. These are fantastic books and even I can’t wait to read them again.

My son and I LOVE to read these books together! The stories are adorable. In these stories Conifer and her friend Spike work together to solve problems and learn the meaning of friendship! A Present for the Volcano finds Conifer and Spike trying to figure out how to make the volcano happy so it won’t erupt. Saving Conifer’s Eggs finds them working together to save themselves from a fire. The stories encourage communication and teamwork, which are good skills for children to learn. The illustrations are vibrant and inviting, really bringing the stories to life! I am so glad we discovered these stories! They will be in our regular reading rotation from now on!

These are such cute stories for kids! They are very easy to read so young children will be able to learn how to read them quickly and they will love them. The pictures are adorable, even on the Kindle format, which is very nice. The stories are about 2 dinosaur friends working together to solve 2 very different issues. In the first story, we have a volcano about to blow and Spike wants to give the volcano a necklace, while the other Conifer wants to run away! In the second story, there is a forest fire, but Conifer, has laid 3 eggs, and she only has 2 hands. Her friend Spike comes to help her, but he walks on 4 legs. They have to work together if they want to make it out safe!

My niece and nephew always love when I bring them a new Wickstrom story book; she is one of their favorite authors. This book was even more exciting for them, two stories in one. These stories followed Dino friends Conifer and Spike on two different adventures. Along the way the two learn about kindness, working together, and understanding just to name a few skills. The story is well written and with excellent illustrations. I would recommend this as well as Wickstrom’s other books for elementary ages kids, or kids that are struggling with their reading levels. Overall an adorable story with a moral.

This is a super cute, two book download about two dinosaur friends working together even when they have different ideas. The illustrations are great, too.
In the first book, Conifer (a female T-Rex) notices that a volcano is erupting and wants them to run to safety but Spike (a male ankylosaurus) wants to give the volcano a present. The friends work together to figure out what to do.
In the second book, Conifer is sitting on her next of three eggs when Spike runs to warn her that there is a fire. This time Spike is ready to run but Conifer can’t leave her eggs or carry them all to safety. Again, the friends work together on a solution.

Dinosaur Friends 2 Books in 1: A Present for the Volcano and Saving Conifer's Eggs
By Lois Wickstrom
5 Stars out of 5 Stars
I picked up this book to read to my 2 year old niece at night since I was babysitting for a couple of days and she really loved it. The adorable friendship between Conifer and Spike brings warmth to anyone's heart. The pictures are extremely cute and dinosaurs are always a hit with my nieces. If you are looking for a short book to read to your kids or to teach them how to read, I think this book would be great for you. My favorite was Saving Conifer's Eggs. I definitely think this book was a win.

These were the cutest books! I always love Lois Wickstrom’s work, and these are no different. I read them to my kids and then we were able to spark a discussion about what happened. We talked about what they thought helped the situation as well as what could be done to make it better and worse. I think it is short enough to keep everyone’s attention especially with the beautiful artwork. For some kids it helps start conversations about teamwork and what to do when you’re with someone who doesn’t agree with you. We really loved these and will recommend them to everyone with kiddos!
