Jennifer Cohen, a superstar motivational coach, illuminates how to get the life you want by being bold, resilient, and creating specific goals and habits.
I know what it takes to get what you want in life. It’s a habit anyone can learn, a skill you can develop, a gift you don’t need to be born with. The more experience you get, the more confident you’ll be. Even when you fail, you’ll feel stronger with each try you make. At work, at home, wherever your life unfolds— be bold . Take action. Ask for the right things. Chase what you want instead of taking what you can get. What do you want most in life, and why don’t you have it?
Think about the things that give your life depth, focus, and deeply satisfying relationships with plenty of give and take, physical health and emotional wellbeing, passion projects, self-esteem, and self-respect. Bold people have these things. Bold people recognize what’s holding them back—and it's almost always a fear of failure. They train to overcome their fears, they embrace the 10% Target, and they create everyday, life-long habits to get what they want.
Bigger, Better, Bolder brings readers one step closer to boldness, one chapter at a time. With practical takeaways and action steps—bite-sized Bold Moves—and real-life case studies of boldness in action, Jennifer Cohen teaches you how to get what you want.
This is going to be a DNF at 31% for me and there's a very specific reason why.
Firstly, I love the topic of this book, so I was very excited to get an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley. I really appreciated the author breaking down the concept of boldness and it not necessarily meaning extravagant living or action. There are a lot of points in the parts that I read that I really agree with.
However, the author started a section on "antifragility" by making wide sweeping statements about generations younger than Gen X'ers like herself. I'm not sure if I can quote directly, but at the 31% mark, the author talks about how kids and young adults can't be antifragile because of overly cautious parents and the "culture of safteyism". The author goes on to talk about how everyone "gets a trophy so they never feel disappointed" and how younger generations use Trigger Warnings to never feel offended. (Which is not what TWs are for, but I digress!)
There's a much better way to make the point of building a thicker skin than to say that people younger than you didn't experience individualism or independence while growing up.
I know a point being made is weak when sweeping generalizations are used to explain it and, frankly, this is exactly what this is.
Wow, wow, wow! This book was amazing! I cannot wait to put it to practice. Going to work through the workbook so I can practice being bolder. 10/10 recommend reading this! It’ll be such a game changer!!
Jennifer did a wonderful narration of the material she wrote. It was pleasant to read a current day view on the shackles we put upon ourselves, and how to break free of them in a time period with a lot of change.
She lays out a solid set of ground rules on how to move towards your goals and dreams. That said, if you were to gleam over all the chapter titles, and then fast forward to the last 15 minutes of the book, it’s summarizes it best on the importance of always going for it.
Those are the book provides value for any age or stage in your life, I feel it is a critical read for anybody 40 years and older. It’s very typical for us to settle into habits and routines as we get concerned about our perceived image in the public eye .
This book was written as if she was speaking with a small child or one really dumb and insecure adult. I cannot imagine this book "speaks" to many people and if it does...good Yoda, we got issues in this country.
If you decided to take a shot of alcohol every time she says/writes "very bold", you'd be dead from poisoning. The gist is, if you use toilet paper to wipe your bum, that's a bold move! If you use oat milk instead of cow milk in your coffee, that's a bold move!

Need motivation to get in shape? This book is what you need!
This is a great motivator to getting yourself in great health. I can sometimes struggle with getting motivated and staying motived but this book has what I needed to give me a kick in the A and get going. Some great tips and advice!
I really enjoyed this book. It was the the best motivational book I have read in the past few months. The voice was conversational and it was a good mix of anecdotes that were personal and those of people she knows, plus mixed with inspiration on how you can apply that to your life. I liked there is a “workbook” or journal type area in the back that will allow you to reflect and make your own plan.
Thank you to Hachette books for sending me a gifted copy!
