If you like clean romantic suspense that deals with tough life issues, this well-written book is for you. Alexa Verde manages to tackle those issues and still write a positive, uplifting book. There are no slow spots in it. I really liked the characters. I hope to read more of this author's works. I would recommend this book to readers of clean romance, romantic suspense, and Christian fiction.
Hearts Healed ( The Potter’s House Books-Book 10 ) By; Alexa Verde Heart Healed is book ten in The Potter’s House Books Series. Even though this is in a series you can read it as a stand- a -lone with no problems. Wow, Heart Healed is a heartwarming story that will touch your heart. There were times when I had tears in my eyes. It is a good, clean, christian, romance and suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. I did not want to put it down. This is Marian and Phillip’s story. Both of these character have past or future issues. These are everyday real issues that some people have and some try to cover them up. I also love the spiritual parts in this story. Can they turn their problems over to God and trust him? Trust and forgive. I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Miriam and Philip’s story is truly amazing. Miriam is hiding something and Philip is forced into taking a vacation. When these two meet everything changes for them. Watching Philip try to protect Miriam is totally wonderful. Liv and the men from the ranch are all very special people. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
Heart Healed by Alexa Verde is a delightful contemporary Christian romance that will warm your heart and leave you smiling. It is the tenth book in The Potter’s House series but can be read as a stand-alone. The book’s focus is hurts and healing. Life deals us blows that shape and form us. Sometimes the hurts go so deep that we withdraw from everyone, even God. “Once upon a time he’d been close to God.” God is the ultimate healer. He longs for us to return to Him, trusting Him to heal our hurts. “Events proved God still cared about him.” Life leaves scars that are not always visible. “You’re so much more than this scar.” Our scars do not define us. They reveal where we’ve been but not where we are going. The novel has the traumatic subject of self-harm. A character believes that cutting takes away the emotional pain. It is a hard read but Alexa Verde is not afraid to write about gritty issues that affect some lives today. We, the reader, need to be sensitive to these issues and if we suspect someone needs help, to give it. If the victim is one of us, we need to find someone we trust and get help. Victims need our love and support to help them heal. Prayer is our lifeline to God. “She needed to pray, but prayer didn’t come easily.” Prayer is not always easy but it should be as intuitive as breathing. “The prayer came unexpectedly.” We all need people in our lives who will direct us to God. “She taught me to pray.” There are themes of alcoholism and anger. These are sensitively covered, showing that people need help to face their demons and recover. Some huge hearts feature in the novel. An eclectic mix of characters band together to protect and help each other heal. This reminds the reader of the early church functioning as God intended – a place of safety, help and healing. I adored Heart Healed. I always love Alexa Verde’s novels with her wonderfully drawn big hearted characters. God’s presence permeates her writings. He proves Himself to be faithful, watching and waiting for us to come to Him. A wonderful, warm read that will ignite your heart and soul. I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
My review today is on the Christian Suspense, Heart Healed. This is book 10 in the Potter's House Books Series. These are stories of Hope, Redemption, and Second Chances. I know you are going to love this series. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. This is an awesome book and you'll love it.
Country Singer Miriam Lizarraga is unable to sing. She may never sing again. She has left her world and is hiding at her aunt's home. Her aunt was out of the country. She had to figure out what to do with her life now. She can still write music but is that enough? She begins to cut again. She goes down to the beach one night and is drawn to the ocean. She dives in but goes out to far and almost drowns. A man pulls her to safety. She is drawn to him and asks him to come to lunch the next day. Her manager calls and tells her her brother, who had once tried to kill her. just got out of prison. She must hide. She goes on the run literally. Phillip picks her up and helps her.
Phillip Barlow is out jogging when he sees his favorite singing star crush. (Phillip's face is horribly scarred from an accident. Hiding his scars he pours his life into his work and now his boss tells him he has to take a vacation.) He calls out to her but she dives in. Worring about the hard breaking waves he dives in and ends up saving her. She asks him back for lunch. She is a wonderful cook and he is drawn to her but she tells him goodbye. He finds her jogging to a car rental. He offers her protection.
A journey of hope, forgiveness, and love. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move into your life.
A well crafted story with intriguing characters, twist and turn plot, and a believable resolution. Alexa Verde immediately draws the reader into the conflicts and contemporary issues of this gut wrenching story. Running from physical and emotional pain, Miriam and Philip both learn how to forgive the people who injured them and their past. Contemporary issues of cutting oneself, physical abuse, addiction, and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) are woven seamlessly into this story of hope, love, redemption, and second chances. Fiction at its best - mystery and romance all in one.
A great clean fast moving suspense romance that I didn't want to put down. The main character is the one who has the most love for others & the forgiveness to go with it but because of her family background loves hereself the least. Many issues resolving from our pasts are played out in this book. The main theme is that I was glad to see was that GOD is the one that loves us the most & is the most forgiving. I also was glad for some of the therapies that were set up to deal with some of the issues to help people.
This is a very good book. It does have quite a lot of beating in it and the girl running to try to get away from it. Everything works out in the end. I recommend this book to those who like to read about hardship and overcoming it.
Just gotta love an un-put-downable book. There simply aren't enough of them out there! I was fairly enchanted with the down-to-earth but lovable characters. For those who like some suspense and action mixed with your romance (like me), you won't want to miss reading this!
This is a heart wrenching story of life with and following addiction. It’s a story of second chances through a desire to change and a strong faith in God’s love.
There aren't many books I can say that touch my heart the way this one has. I had a very difficult time putting this down to go to sleep or work!! So many authors are afraid to show the darker side of people and the struggles we have to go through. Like if it's a Christian Fiction, that it needs to be all sunshine and roses....lol, don't get me wrong, I like those too! But once in a while it's good to get a story that you can sink your teeth into....in a good way!
It's not often you can find a book that deals with such intense issues as physical scars, anger management, abuse....and I can understand why. But Alexa Verde has all of these in Heart Healed, and she writes it so beautifully that you cannot help but rejoice in the progress of these characters!
A wonderful and exciting story of how God brings people together. Bolivia's heart was broken when she had a visit from her husband Bruce's girlfriend. She heads to see her parents seeking refuge. She vears off the dark, lonely road into a field. The car flips and stops abruptly when it hits something. She is left hanging upside down, badly injured and all alone. Will God intervene and give her a second chance to live? A very touching and exciting story.
I have enjoyed the few books from this author I’ve read thus far, and this one is another good one. Miriam is a star who is running from an attacker. Phillip comes across her at the beach and they forge a friendship. The story weaves between her past and present trouble, and his past fluidly, keeping the plot line moving and pages turning. I appreciate the subject matter Alexa Verde touches upon, in this book and her previous Potter’s House book, as well as relatable characters and the healing the stories bring.
I found this book to be very well written. I enjoyed it greatly. The whole series is about love and restoration, so sometimes there are uncomfortable topics, but this was done tastefully and well.
A clean Christian suspense....so hard to find but so well done by Alexa Verde. I love the characters that she creates with such vivid personalities. The storyline is well thought out and keeps you turning the pages. You're rooting for the good guys to win! The story also touches on real life issues like abuse, cutting, PTSD and anger. The characters each deal with life in many different ways but ultimately realize overcoming their issues requires God. This is Christian suspense asst it's romantic best! I received this ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.
What an absolutely beautiful romantic suspense about a second chance at love. Suspense, twists and turns gives us an action packed adventure filled with God's love and protection. I loved this well crafted story with vivid intriguing characters that gives us another glimpse at South Texas I highly recommend this book to those who love Christian romantic suspense with a strong inspirational message.
This is one of those books where you have to keep reading to see what's going to happen next, but you don't want it to end. I loved every minute of this book. It is very well written and tackles some very difficult subjects. I can't wait to read more by Alex Verde.
She is Miriam Lizarraga, a famous singer, he is Philip, a co-manager of Marco, Pizza owner in Rio Azules. they meet at the see, Philip saves Milian life and the adventure starts, is it a dream or real life?
This book had suspense and took me through many emotional roller coasters. I enjoyed the story line and did not want to stop reading until I found out what happened. Some of the scenarios were easy to figure out what would happen, but overall, I really enjoyed the story and cried, held my breath, and rejoiced while reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a story that will point the reader to some of God's truths. I received a copy of this book, but have voluntarily chosen to give an honest heartfelt review.
This book was very interesting. To see the problems Miriam had to deal with and live with was astonishing. People in this world suffer from all kinds of problems. Reading these books could give them insight on how to approach their problems. Good job!
Miriam and Philip both had a hard past. Miriam finds out someone from her past just got out of prison. Will she be able to stay safe. Philip is a big fan of Miriam and singing. He never dreamed he would actually meet her. A very suspenseful book, I enjoyed getting to know both of the characters. A very interesting and exciting book. I received an complementary copy of the book from the author.
A woman trying to hide from someone who wants to kill her. A man badly scarred by burns who believes no one will ever love him. These two cross paths and begin a journey to save her life and to learn to live life again. A wonderful story of hope and redemption. I highly recommend this book and others by this author! (I received an advance review copy of this book for free. This review is my honest opinion.)
Every one carries their own personal demons but in God we find His grace, which does not come with a price tag In this book His grace and mercy is clearly illustrated in the story line and characters This romantic suspense story is well worth reading
This sweet romance story deals with some hard issues. While I liked it, I didn't love it, and I am struggling with how to word this. The story delivered what it promised - a clean, sweet romance, but I feel the plot could have gone so much further - the issues of infidelity, sibling rivalry, anger, bad parenting, deception, trust issues, medical concerns, murder and so much more - are uncovered in the story but, with the exception of anger, are not really dealt with fully. Miriam is a famous singer and she loses her ability to sing - the reader knows nothing more than that. Miriam loves and trusts 'her aunt' but, even in adulthood, the truth is not revealed until way to late. Overall, I felt that the story was rushed to meet a deadline, the ending was unrealistic and the characters were all somewhat unbelievable and especially Dave.
Alexa Verde can write and I think she could have done so much more with this story if it had been written as an individual clean novel with characters developed more and the plot 'dug out' to completion.
Loved Philip and Miriam's story!! Philip has had a crush on Miriam ever since he first saw her on TV and heard her sing. He knows all of her songs, too. He never thought he'd ever meet her, but he does when he gets too close to her private beach, and then saves her after she goes out too far in the ocean. When Philip finds out that Miriam's life is in danger, he wants to protect her. The more time he spends with her, the more he falls for the real her, and not her public image. When Miriam realizes that Philip takes her as she is, with or without makeup, in ratty jeans and a t-shirt and not just dressed up, and that he truly cares for her, she knows she can't let the person after her hurt him. Miriam helps Philip see that she doesn't care about the scars he carries, that his scar doesn't define him to her, and that he can also trust God to stand by him. Love how they make each other's faith stronger, and how their love shows that they can be stronger together.
