Hollywood Love #1

Seeking Stars

Rate this book
She is a plus-size latina filmmaker, trying to make her way in Hollywood. Falling for an A-Lister could ruin her career.

Ana Lira has one goal: to make it as a film director. With too much working against her— too many curves and too much melanin— she has no time for love or the glitter of Hollywood.

Until she meets Liam McMillan. He has the eyes, curls, and charisma to outshine the sun. The man is a superstar. And thanks to her skills, she’s contracted to make a documentary of him. In close quarters. For a month.

Liam has it all, except for peace, privacy and people he trusts. The last thing he wants is a documentary filmmaker following him around. That is, until her luscious thighs captivate his eyes, and her conversation reaches his soul. Before he knows it, she's all he can think about.

The more Liam flirts with Ana, the more she has to push her feelings away— or risk her heart and her burgeoning career. Even if Liam convinces Ana to give their relationship a chance, despite her fears and her agent's advice, they’d have to do so with a million eyes judging their every step, hoping they'd break up. They'd only have each other to survive the onslaught.

Seeking Stars is a slow burn, multicultural romance, full of steam and plenty of spice. It features a dual POV with an A-list celebrity hero and a latina, curvy filmmaker heroine, in a Forced Proximity and Hollywood Celebrity Romance.

This was cute but I also wanted more in the romance aspect of it. I’m kinda in a reading/review slump so that may be the reason why. I liked the celebrity/actor plots and how the main characters came together and got close. I also really appreciated the serious issues that were discussed based on what the main characters went through. The romance while good felt like it was missing something at times and I just needed a little more. There’s a couple steamy scenes and overall I liked this and will be reading more by this author.

Tropes/themes:
- Workplace romance
- Acting/directing scene
- Plus size fmc
- Latina fmc
- Forced proximity
- Slow burn
- Celebrity romance

So cute! Ana and Liam fall for each other with ease ❤️. I wouldn’t call this a slow burn because it’s obvious that they like each other from the start. There’s no real obstacle with their personalities (or etc.) to over come. It’s a low stakes Hollywood romance where the adults behave like adults and there’s absolutely not a single drop of miscommunication (I fully appreciated the healthy communication this couple had).

I’m obsessed with Liam’s love for cooking and I’m glad mental health was a priority for him. Ely was a joy of a side character and I can’t wait to read her book!

I liked this for what it was, I only wish we got to see Ana’s culture a bit more.

DNF at 85%.

There's nothing hugely wrong about this book, but I'm finding that I'm struggling to make myself read to the end... and there are more books out there so I'm going to let this go.

I'm not a huge fan of "famous people" romances and that may have something to do with it.

It’s hard to describe my experience with this book but I will try.
Ana films documentaries and has just been signed to a talent agency. Which just so happens to represent Liam. He’s a well known, reaching the peak of his fame actor that is reaching burn out. His agent “agrees” to a break if he films a documentary, that’s where Ana comes in.

As these two agree and begin filming they set out to a month long trip where they settle at exclusive and cozy destinations. Ana filming an in depth, close look at Liam, asking all the questions.
As these two are confined in these destinations and questions dig deeper they both cannot deny the chemistry and attraction that grows.

As a reader I fell for these Uber intimate moments Ana and Liam shared. In romance movies they will brush these moments under music in a quick montage, but Leonor gave us an in-depth and almost voyeuristic view of the most intimate of conversations between two people. I couldn’t look away from the book pages.

It’s a slow burn but with all those little moments of pinky fingers finding their way to each other, small reasons to touch and hold on, it was beautiful. When we did get to the steam it was SCRUMPTIOUS!

This is a debut book for Leonor and her writing is beautiful, it’s deep and intentional she captivated me over and over again.

I highly recommend this book to all!

It was a great pleasure and privilege to receive an advanced reader copy of Seeking Stars! Soliz is very talented. She crafted the perfect slow burn that leaves the reader heavily invested in the outcome, but still not making it seem forced.
The story flowed very well. The author addresses important cultural topics such as life with immigrant parents and navigating those stereotypes as a child, body shaming, and terrible double standards regarding dating and sex. She also addresses mental health concerns for celebrities, which is insightful and refreshing. She humanizes the male main character through his complex emotions, desire for a more fulfilling personal life, and good relationship with a therapist.
Ana, the female main character, is inspiring. She’s an artist determined to make good choices and earn respect in her field. However, when asked to decide between her career and what is most important, she does not hesitate.
I’m looking forward to reading more from Leonor Soliz in the future!

This is a low angst slow burn. I read Love in Contempt first, so it prepped me for this book. I was interested in reading how they got together, but the first half of this book was slow but ultimately necessary. I really really appreciate how Liam used his words and really tried to be clear on his intentions. The argument, though, had screaming like yall want the same thing, which in hindsight as the reader I know that, but in the heat of the argument, you miss each other.

Overall, I thought what really shined through is that the author did not romanticize Hollywood or being famous. Oh, I was stressed when their relationship got out. But it was good tension builder. Diana and Coulton can go kick rocks. And we all need a friend like Ely. I can't wait to read this book.

OoooOooooo ok lots to say!
First off, I loved Ana and Liam. Both characters had strong personalities that didn’t outshine the other and I loved the idea of a documentary being their meet cute. Their relationship felt really natural and organic the way it grew and I ultimately enjoyed the story.

I will say that after they got together, I was really happy about that, the story was kind of different. Not the actual story but maybe the structure ? It seemed a little disjointed because of the distance between them and the calls back and forth. And the really short chapters? I’m not sure but it was different. Not necessarily bad different though!

Overall, I enjoyed their romance and their fight to be together and I really loved the epilogue it was toooooo sweet.

I am quite excited for Alex and Ely’s story 🤭

SO GOOD! ARC Review! I love being able to read a multicultural love story and be able to relate to the main characters! Ana is such a strong and inspiring female main character and it was obvious how much Liam tried to understand their cultural differences. They are so sweet and their chemistry is UNDENIABLE! This book has it all: spice, slight angst, and all of the HEAs! This is hands down the best debut novel I’ve read this year and I absolutely love Soliz’s novellas as well! Masterful writing and beautiful love stories are very much her brand!

I got to read an ARC of Seeking Stars and it was wonderful! The sexual tension between Ana and Liam 🤌🤌 HOT. I love how patient they are with one another, and just how supportive they are of each other's careers. I'm really excited for Ely and Alex's story! Grumpy/sunshine is a hell YES for me always 😉

Tropes: slow burn, forced proximity, Hollywood romance

The build to the relationship was just amazing. I loved how Leonor showcased therapy for Liam and how being an actor is not always glamor, it can be lonely and isolating. It’s such a beautiful connection and seeing them fall was just great.

I wanted to smuck their agents!

The FMC is mid size and confident in her body. There is a person that comments on her body and shames her but it was not something that the FMC even entertained.

Overall this was a cute, cozy read with a very slow burn. The story was paced well I just feel that it was a bit stagnant, everything was too perfect with not really any conflicts to resolve up until the minor bump 80% into the story. It was great that the plot focused on them getting to know each other through the documentary and I like that they’re a very healthy couple with perfect communication skills but when I read fiction I want to get lost in the world and invested in the struggles and see how they’re going to pull through and I didn’t really feel much of that here. Ana and Liam would work perfectly in real life but I would’ve loved to see more tension with the slow burn.

I do have to say that an aspect I enjoyed was that while Ana was plus size, it wasn’t a sole focus of her story, just another factor to her.

Getting to read an arc of Seeking Stars was so exciting for me. I've been following Leonor Soliz on social media and I have been looking forward to this book for awhile now.

I loved it, simple as that. It made me smile ear-to-ear and gave me butterflies.

Liam and Ana are both very likeable and logical. I appreciated there was no miscommunication between them. There is plenty of tension and wonderful banter though. The slow burn was perfect; culminating in a moment completely worth the wait.

I enjoyed that Liam is the one in therapy working on himself. Too frequently, men aren't encouraged to express/address their emotions and I think it's important for discussing feelings to become normalized.

And the ending, especially the epilogue, was exactly what I was hoping for. So often, contemporary romance ends with the promise of happily ever after, but Seeking Stars ends with HEA as something tangible.

I'm thrilled there will be a follow-up novella and then that the series will continue with my favorite side character!

An eye – opening documentary with that something more
Ana Lira can almost feel her dream coming true, as her documentary – making skills are finally being noticed and she has juts signed her contract.
But what she didn’t expect was that her first official job would be to follow and make a documentary about Liam McMillan. Eve if Ana is not into celebrities, she knows that Liam is an absolute superstar.
But Liam is also in desperate need of a break… he has gone from one event to another, from one movie to another, and he needs to catch his breath. And if the only way to have that, means to have Ana Lira following his every step, so be it…
However, being  together all the time, going on trips together, makes Liam realize tat Ana is everything he needs. But getting together would be Ana taking more risks than Liam,  as she is not only a newcomer in the film industry, but she is also a Latina, with her own agent persuading her to not get involved. And let’s not forget about the whole world ready to judge them, especially Ana, whatever they do…
There are so many stories written about a famous actor/actress falling for someone ‘normal’. While Ana can be described as ‘normal’, even with her having just signed a contract, this story is not a case of a dime a dozen…
In a story, it’s often where one character has to take that leap of faith, to overcome their demons before finally finding the courage to allow love in their hearts.
But here the author managed to make her readers understand that sometimes, there are two main characters that have demons to slay.
Ana has fought a long way to get where she is now, and she won’t give that up so easily. That made me like her immediately. She could have easily been playing the ‘victim’ part, as her background would allow her to do that. But no, she fought for having her dreams realized and I was happy for her when she finally signed on those dotted lines.
However, what I liked about Ana the most; is her being so down – to – earth. Yes, she was a bit starstruck with Liam, but let’s be honest, who wouldn’t be? Yet she wants to see Liam the person and not Liam the actor.
She wants to grasp the hardship it can be of being Liam McMillan and want to show it to the world that being famous isn’t all that glitter and glamour.
And while we all think we know a few of those hardships, seeing Liam struggling with them, made my heart really go out for him.
It’s more than just being followed by paparazzi, or having to live up to extreme standards. It’s also a case of not knowing when someone is interested in *you* or in your fame and fortune.
Liam has been burnt in the past and doesn’t want to make the same mistake again. But how can he resist Ana?
I loved it how this was a slow – burn romance, it wasn’t a case of feeling a physical attraction, but how Ana and Liam also aligned on an emotional level.
And the reasons for not ‘giving in’ that easily were all legit, I could understand why at moments Ana was in doubts, why at moments she didn’t feel she couldn’t be handling all the attention and online trolls.
But the moments Ana and Liam had together, getting to know each other for who they really are, was so wonderful to read about. And while I understood Ana, it was also sometimes frustrating because these two people deserve to find happiness and love with each other.
Ana’s best friend Ely for sure deserve that title with right… I laughed how she at moments just objectified Liam, yet kept her calm and protected Ana however she could. She is the kind of friend who would never turn her back on you…
I truly enjoyed reading this book, as it shows us the hardships of love. Even if this story is about a famous person, the author shows us that even they have the same doubts and insecurities that we, normal people, have.
But also that no matter what your situation is, choosing love is always the right decision, no matter what other people may say…

So I'm going to gush a bit about this book because it just hit all the right spots.

Things that I loved:
Ana Lira is a first generation Ecuadorian-American and so am I, so maybe I'm a bit biased but I was so happy to read that tidbit 😁🇪🇨 Ana is an up-and-coming documentary film director (which we need more of in real life) and she's humble about her work but very sure of her skills. She has one of those personalities that makes it easy to talk to them... respectful, empathetic, honest, and funny...which is why it was easy to fall in love with her 🥰

Liam McMillan is a dream boat actor who's clearly burnt out and desperately seeking peace and a break. So his project with Ana, even though isn't what he wanted, ends up being the perfect way for him to open up and be himself away from the constant pressures of Hollywood. He's open about his therapy, his impacted schedule, and how lost he's been since making it big. I love how these two can communicate and respect each other's boundaries. It's this foundation of trust that is key to dealing with the vicious side of fame like gossip, zealous fans, and social media trolls.

Lastly...Ely, Ana's bestie is a true ride or die, hurt her and die kind of bestie. I loved her & I'm excited for her own story to come.

Things that I didn't love:
🤷🏽‍♀️ Practically nothing...but I guess if I HAD to be picky it would be to say that it was borderline insta-love. But it works with Ana and Liam because they had to get super close and personal for the documentary. So, not really a negative it's just something I kinda stay clear of in contemporary romances.

Overall LOVED this book!

I loved this book so much!

I haven't read much celebrity romance before, but I think I've found a new addiction for the new year, because now I just want MORE! I loved both our main characters. I felt that their blossoming romance was both believable and extremely healthy. Liam, a hot shot actor in Hollywood is not all he appears to be and is intellectually and emotionally deep, even seeking therapy to deal with his own insecurities and issues while living "the dream" in Hollywood.

Ana Lira is a fabulous curvy (plus size by Hollywood standards) documentary filmmaker who not only has a sparkling personality but also has integrity, morals and does her best to maintain a professional reputation despite falling for the hottest man alive.

The slowburn was filled with flirting and sexual tension and I love a good dual POV story so hearing what both of them are feeling as it unfolds was *chef's kiss*. The true villain of this story is Hollywood itself. The issues surrounding fame are explored so profoundly with their budding relationship even in the beginning when they are just becoming friends and colleagues. The online harassment, tabloids, paparazzi, agents, bureaucracy of the film industry is so toxic. But you know what isn't toxic? Liam and Ana's relationship.

I can't wait to read more from this author and I'll definitely be picking up a physical copy of this to reread when I need a pick me up :)

This was a sweet, low angst, sloooowwww burn. While it was a romance, for me it could also be a women’s fiction. The first part of the book was Liam and Ana getting to know each other and themselves as well.

Hollywood is a very fickle place. One minute you are on top of the world and the next, could be the gutter. That is the theme of the story. Navigating who you are as a person in a very public way. Liam, the A List movie star, is trying to “take a break” and find some normalcy, but his agent is against it. Ana has just got her break and foot in the door. These two forced together somehow is so relatable. Wanting to be seen but fear sharing too much.

Their talks, the openness and also hesitation was realistic for any couple getting to know each other. Theirs was a little easier because they didn’t step in looking for a love interest. It evolved naturally with time and conversation. There was a little tension, the will they or won’t they “go for it”. The internal screaming, “kiss already!!”

My only drawback for this story is it is written in 3rd POV and I sometimes struggle with stories written in this POV. But this is a complete Me problem. But it was well done and once I started reading, the story drew me in and I fell into it.

If you are looking for a feel good, slow burn romance, this one is for you!

Let’s get it out of the way
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

I was hesitant on this because I saw it was 3rd person, there was a slow burn..(& I do skim reviews b4 a read) & was worried about the pacing.. THAT SAID!
This book actually ended up surprising me in how much I loved it. *For ME*, the pacing was perfect and I loved the dual pov in this person. Ana is a documentarian and I actually felt like part of the process with this read. Her and Liam developed at a healthy adult pace and the COMMUNICATION was chefs kiss! The burn was slow but it was sooo worth it. It felt earned and like we got to unwrap the biggest gift at Christmas. The angst was low and the stakes were pretty realistic. And honestly f! Their agents! My heart was yearing for their success as a couple and as individuals

Ana being a Latina also didn’t feel forced. What was advertised is what you get! Some shit cake her way because of it but that wasn’t going to be a demanding plot point. I know for some they’d want more(& I understand) but for me and for this. It felt honest.
I hope to see more of this couple in the next book because Ely was a JOY! And such a great use of a side character.
I truly enjoyed this and as the second book of my ‘Latina only reads Latinx books’ marathon, I’m so happy I took a chance!

First off, I loved that we meet Liam as he is in session with his therapist. I love to see that seeking mental health help is normalized and not judged(as it should!). We also meet Ana who is an upcoming yet successful documentary filmmaker. They don’t have the best first meeting, which you already know is a fantastic ingredient for chemistry later on😏

On a more personal note, watching Liam trust Ana more and more, enough to let his guard down enough to get this documentary made, made me realize that it would be really difficult for me to do so🫣

I highly recommend this book if you are into

I’m always skeptical of the celebrity romance trope. It can go horribly wrong and be super cheesy if not done correctly. But Leonor Soliz nailed it with Seeking Stars and Liam and Ana’s story.

This is a slow burn romance with great chemistry between the main characters. It was refreshing to see two characters who communicated with each other like actual adults. That’s not to say there wasn’t any conflict. (I can’t tell you how much I despised their managers.) But they navigated it realistically, so I wasn’t left screaming at my kindle screen for them to get their crap together.

There was a nice amount of spice and I absolutely adored Ana’s best friend, Ely. She was supportive, but not afraid to tell Ana the truth, the kind of friend we all need by our side. I’m looking forward to reading her story in the future.

I couldn’t put this down and if I hadn’t gotten the flu, I probably would have finished it in a day or two. The epilogue was a great way to close it out. It was a fitting “ending” to a sweet romance that left me smiling. It’s a book I can see myself returning to in the future.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Seeking Stars, the debut novel from Leonor Soliz. This romance features Ana, a documentary filmmaker, and Liam, an A-List Hollywood actor. Liam needs a break from the spotlight and asks his agent for a break to recharge. Ana just signed onto an agency, hoping to get more exposure.

The compromise? Liam can have his break, but Ana has to come along to film it all and produce a behind-the-scenes look into Liam. While they have a rocky start, Liam agrees to the plan and soon Ana joins him on a mini road trip to different secluded destinations.

What starts as awkwards turns into an emotional friendship where Liam and Ana open up about their deepest emotions. With this vulnerable relationship, Liam slowly realizes there is more to explore between the two, but Ana doesn’t want to risk her professionalism or step into the public eye.
What will happen? Will they risk everything for a chance at love? Or will they keep it strictly professional?

As a reader, I felt like I was dropped right into the room with Liam and Ana. I couldn’t put this book down because I had to know what would happen between them. Everything flowed so well and all details were really intentional.

Recommended if you like:
-celebrity/normal person romance
-forced proximity
-plus size rep
-slow burns
-he falls first
-documentaries
-the “dark side” of fame
-road trips
- a great bestie (who’s getting her own book)

I can’t wait to see what Soliz writes next.

I was given an ARC and took my time diving into the relationship between Liam and Ana Lira. From the very beginning, it hooked me up. I'm a sucker for relationships that build up that are not initially "love at first sight," and the book did not disappoint. Their slow-burn chemistry was beautiful, and this is it for those fans of forced proximity! From the beginning, they have to live together to film a documentary, and you get to know the characters. They feel real and plausible in a way that others might not. You want to be their friend and root for them from the get-go. I liked the direction the author took, giving information about the world behind the glamour of Hollywood. The pressures of keeping up with your persona daily and the costs it holds. The difficulties of wanting "normal" when it is possible. Of finding a new normal so that you can thrive.
I loved every second and can't wait to see more of the series. I am rooting for Ely and Alex (this was hinted, *wink, wink*.

There is something about Hollywood romances!! Seeking Stars follows Ana Lira, a Latina trying to make it big as a director, and Liam McMillan, a famous actor looking for freedom and love. Liam's management believes taking a break might be the end of his career so he convinces Liam to do a documentary while on "vacation." Leonor Soliz does a fantastic job of writing steamy romance and including important topics in Hollywood. I love the way Liam's character was written. The mental health representation surrounding celebrities was written beautifully. I also loved that the author included Ana's story and how women in media are constantly looked at differently, especially when they start dating people with big fanbases. This was a cute steamy romance and I honestly loved it!

Thank you to the author for the eARC!!

Thank you to Leonor for an arc copy of this book in exchange for a review. It was an honor being a part of your author journey and experiencing your art.

THIS IS WHAT I WANT WHEN I ASK FOR A ROMANCE. THIS is how you communicate, work on yourself, fight for what you want, how to live your best life, and have a freakin relationship! Wow, I’ve never read a book that genuinely connected the characters so well. It felt so real but in such a good way! I thoroughly enjoyed watching Liam and Ana fall in love and how they triumphed over fears, scandal, horrible agents, and the trials and tribulations of love. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book in this series and you bet I signed up for her newsletter so I could read the second epilogue!!

Really really enjoyed

Immediate thoughts:

This is the type of book that really makes me wish I could read it for the first time again. I loved the way the author wrote the story and built the characters. I did find parts of the story to be too…wordy and the pace inconsistent, however the way I wanted to completely consume the relationship these characters ere growing with each other and themselves was phenomenal.

A man I’m therapy? That representation was really great. Everyone should go to therapy (and therapy should be more affordable).

A woman knowing her worth even through her fears, chefs kiss.

He falls first and isn’t afraid to risk it all? I’m in love.

I’ll probably come back and edit this review or maybe not

This was a fun, fluffy beach read; exactly what I wanted while relaxing poolside. I loved that both main characters are tied to the film industry, which gave the story a glitzy, escapist feel. That said, some of the industry details felt unrealistic and pulled me out of the story occasionally (as someone who knows the field, those little inaccuracies stood out).

What I really appreciated, though, was the representation. Our protagonist isn’t just Latina; she’s also a curvy, full-figured heroine. I loved seeing her celebrated and desired in a genre that doesn’t always center women like her.

Overall, Seeking Stars is light, sweet, and easy to breeze through. It delivers exactly what it promises: a fun romance with a happy ending that leaves you smiling.

My first book by Mrs Soliz and I’m very happy I got to read it. Another autobuy author for sure.

Thank you so much for this book and for making me love all set of characters. Seeing latinex people finding love and happiness outside of their homeland always fills me with joy as an immigrant myself.

5 shiny stars ⭐️!

The slow burn almost did me in, but 4.5 ⭐️s!

This was such a cute read. It explored the cost of fame and the lack of privacy in the spotlight. Liam and Ana were adorable together. I was rooting for them the whole time. I'm also so happy that Ana had such a wonderful and supportive best friend.

The writing was good, and the story was told well. I felt like the language was respectful. I don't really have complaints other than we needed to see more of #mcana, the ACTUAL couple! And I'm bummed that the wedding was not in the book itself 🥲. Overall, it was a fun and easy read, and I'll be looking into other titles by this author.
