Edwina Darke is one of a trio of ghost-hunting sisters who rid clients of their unwanted supernatural visitors. A badass by nature, Edwina doesn’t run from haunted houses—she runs into them. Yet no matter how many “ghosts” she debunks, she remains troubled by a demon from her own past.
Simon Teal is the co-owner of a historic B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, a town famous for its connection to the 1812 War. Simon doesn’t believe in the spirit world, but something is chasing his customers away, so he reluctantly allows the Darke sisters to investigate.
As the team uncovers the star-crossed love behind the B&B haunting, Edwina and Simon’s attraction flares. It’s the last thing either of them needs. The dedicated Edwina refuses to lose herself in another relationship, and Simon is still reeling from a terrible betrayal.
When a darker presence reveals itself, triggering their protective instincts, Edwina and Simon succumb to temptation. But the evil entity has taken an interest in them, and if they don’t solve the mystery, someone new could end up going “into the light.”
And it could be one of them.

I don’t know how to explain it but the writing and story were great for the first 30% and then it just dropped off. Like there were some WILD sentences. I don’t know if it’s because I took a break or what but it didn’t feel like the same book. Also it was a lot darker than I was expecting which I guess is my bad because darke is in the title? The plot definitely kept me reading and I was invested, but stylistically it just wasn’t for me!

A few things:

“Ohmigod, I’m going to come again.” Simon smiled. Yes!

Her body quaked and tightened around him. So fucking beautiful. Yes!

Abolish the Yes! please god??? 😭 it’s so deeply unsexy.

Also the sweet thing nickname was what Zack called Maddie in Suite Life of Zack and Cody so that was unfortunate for me 😂

What more can a girl ask for out of one of her fave authors? (Without asking for all of the sequels to be dropped yesterday... You know, REASONABLE requests).

Rosanna Leo's Darke Passion is an excellent mix of all of the above. Edwina, a paranormal investigator, joins her sisters up in the good ole north - Niagara-on-the-Lake. It's one of the most beautiful areas, but it also has a dark past with the war of 1812 taking place on it's grounds. A local B&B is being haunted by ghosts, and these women are up for the challenge. Edwina meets Simon, the owner, and they hit it off... All the while, they are trying to solve the mystery of the terrifying ghosts and paranormal activity going on.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and binged it. It's a fantastic read for those who want a contemporary romance read packed with the paranormal ooky spookies that will have you guessing what happened back in 1812 to cause such a commotion.

Pick this book up! It's out March 21, 2023 and I was so fortunate to get an advanced reader's copy. Now Rosanna... GIMME MORE!

Five out of five stars.

I received this book for free from the author, Rosanna Leo, in exchange for an honest review.

This is book is EVERYTHING!! I so did not want it to end...I dragged it out!

I adored Simon and Edwina. They were both intriguing characters in their own right but they were also perfect for one another...they just clicked! I LOVED learning about them and what made them tick. So much to squee about!!

I LOVED that Edwina and her sisters investigate ghosts - even if I'm a scaredy cat - I'm also a Buffy and paranormal fan. This book being set in Niagara-on-the-Lake was wonderful - while I knew some of the history of the place this book gave me so much more - which made me love it ALL. THE. MORE. Also, vindicated the creepy feelings I got when I visited there!

This book is perfect for those who love history, romance and awesome characters - especially awesome women. I'm so so glad there are more books in this series coming, now I just have to patiently wait for the next! READ THIS.

I was SO lucky to get to read an earlier version of this story! Rosanna Leo's writing is impeccable, and this may be my favorite story of hers yet. The chemistry between Edwina and Simon is electric, the history is fascinating, and the paranormal elements complement the other aspects beautifully. With secrets, a powerful sisterhood, and sumptuous prose, Darke Passion is not to be missed!

I really enjoyed this story. I like the paranormal investigation side of the story and the steamy scenes between Simon and Edwina are hot. It is well written and will keep you entertained. I highly recommend it, if you like this genre.
Simon and his business partner Connie have a B&B where ghost are driving away their business. Simon contacts Darke Paranormal Investigators (DPI) to look into the paranormal happenings at the B&B, even though he is skeptical. Edwina, Susannah, and Adelaide Darke show up and Simon has an instant attraction to Edwina. Each sister has a specific talent they bring to DPI. Edwina is the skeptical and finds logical reasons for "hauntings", Susannah is the historian, and Adelaide is a medium. Upon investigation they find at least two spirits in the house, one good and one evil. PDI researches the area history, the B&B origins, descendents of the people who owned the house, and names they have gotten from the spirits. I don't want to give too much away but the ending is great and brings closure to the story.
I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

As a fervent believer in hauntings and ghosts, I was instantly attracted to this paranormal romance featuring ghost hunters and the owner of a haunted bed and breakfast. It's right up my alley with the historical details, the murder mystery, the pining of long lost love, and the newfound love in present day. Rosanna Leo clearly took the time to research the history behind the town, down to the specific people she included in her haunting flashbacks. It made me want to go visit the town and learn even more. It was a perfect blend of historical accuracy and creative embellishment.

The techie skeptic in the trio that makes up Darke Paranormal Investigations, Edwina Darke is the last person to admit when a reported haunted house is actually suffering from ghostly visitors. So when she and her sisters get called to investigate a historic bed and breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada, she is instantly looking for rational explanations. If she can keep her eyes off the hunky co-owner, Simon Teal, because despite her decision to swear off romance, his sexy glasses and well-formed biceps are a distraction. Simon wasn't expecting a woman like Edwina to walk into his bed and breakfast, and he certainly wasn't expecting to feel an undeniable attraction to her. Even with flying picture frames and dents in the wall, it's not enough to keep him from wanting more than just a client relationship with her. Soon passion overwhelms reason, and forced proximity makes the decision for them. But all is not well in Simon's world, and while romance is the centerpiece of this haunting, it could also be what dooms them all.

I was so charmed by this story, and I got shivers up my spine several times while reading. The level of spooky was just right, so it didn't feel like a horror but had an element of it embedded in with the romance. Some spirits were good, some spirits were bad, and some were lost with no body ever found. Edwina was a really strong character, with vulnerability and independence to make her relatable and genuine. Simon was a bit of a mystery to me, as I couldn't initially get a handle on his character. I thought he was a bit beta, and I was fully expecting the intimate scenes to be dominated by Edwina. I was pleasantly surprised, and Simon with his nerdy exterior really turned the tables in the bedroom. Excellent spice, totally unexpected since the vibe of the story made me think the scenes would be fairly lukewarm. Brava, Rosanna Leo. You know how to fool a girl. The secondary characters were also so intriguing to read about, and I'm looking forward to reading their stories. Each sister seems to be getting her own book, and it should be really interesting to see what type of guy they end up. Edwina was with a beta in the streets but an alpha in the sheets...so what's up next? I wouldn't mind a big grump at some point...but honestly, whatever hero this author decides to write, I'm here for it.

I had the extreme pleasure of reading an early version of "Darke Passion," and it left me an emotionally spent mess, in the best way possible! In this gorgeously written and unique take on both ghost stories and romance novels, Leo masterfully weaves true events from Canadian history into a love story for the ages--literally and figuratively! Lovers of romance, history, and mystery will be captivated by this tapestry of three tales: star-crossed lovers from the past, a deliciously tense new romance between a paranormal investigator and the owner of a haunted B&B, and an (extremely) cold case with a ghostly criminal who must be brought to justice, all connected to heart-wrenching wartime events. I adored the authentic sibling bond between the three Darke sisters, complete with humor, frustration, and devotion. Leo guarantees HEAs, and while I spent much of the book biting my nails, boy, does she deliver! If you love a rich, multi-layered romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat while making you swoon, do yourself a huge favor and don't miss this one!

Darke Passion, Darke Paranormal Investigations Book 1 by Rosanna Leo is a hit on so many levels. Leo’s new series has three of my favorite aspects, a bit of history, a touch of paranormal, and a kiss of romance all wrapped up together. Book 1 has the three Darke sisters, Edwina, Susannah, and Adelaide traveling from their home base in Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake to help a man named Simon with his haunted BNB. As the three begin their investigation, Edwina, the oldest and most skeptical sister falls for Simon on a personal level. Both Edwina and Simon have painful past relationships that have harmed their trust in others, but the close quarters, mysterious hauntings, and evil ghost have the two of them forming more than an alliance to uncover the truth of what really happened at this site in 1812, but also to learn to depend on and care for each other. Rosanna’s writing in Book 1 is fabulous, suspenseful and intriguing. I love how she brings the history of the haunted house and surroundings into what’s happening in the present, and how only with the help of the three sisters can the mystery of the past be solved and all ghosts put to rest. I’m really looking forward to the next books in this fantastic series!

Sisters and spirits and sexytimes, oh my!

The first installment in Rosanna Leo’s new Darke Paranormal series introduces us to the Darke sisters, a trio of ghost hunters. When the sisters are tasked with investigating a historic B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, they get more than they bargained for…in more ways than one.

I’m embarrassed to admit I know very little about the war of 1812 and Canada’s involvement in it, so I found that aspect of the book fascinating (and heartbreaking). Throw in a heavy dose of the paranormal with an active haunting, a centuries-old mystery, and a bittersweet romance balanced with a modern-day romance that was both sweet and steamy, and I was hooked. I’m also a sucker for books featuring siblings, and I really enjoyed the dynamics between the three sisters and how they worked together. I’m excited to read more about the sisters and explore more Canadian hauntings in Darke Music.

If you’re looking for thrills and chills and a steamy romance, be sure to pick up a copy of Darke Passion when it releases on March 21st.

A spooky, fun paranormal romance set in a world that I'm not sure I've ever been in before — at least where the genre is concerned! The Darke sisters are a formidable trio with their own ghost-hunting business, and this time around they've been tasked with clearing out the hauntings of an old B&B that's losing customers thanks to a sinister presence. Naturally, each of the sisters is likely set to get their own romance over the course of this series, but tech expert Edwina finds herself falling head-over-heels for the B&B's owner, Simon, which leads to some very intense moments between them while they're in the midst of more terrifying circumstances. I'd gladly read more from this series, especially given how grounded it is in the sister relationships and how the mysteries of the characters unspool right alongside the more supernatural elements.

Thanks to the author for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.

I’m often trying new authors because I feel like you never know when you’ll find a new one whose books make you fall in love.

Rosanna Leo was gracious enough to send me an ARC of her upcoming PNR Darke Passion, out 03/21.

Dual timelines + ghosts + kissing is definitely my jam & this book delivers on those fronts. The historical setting is Canada during the War of 1812 & it becomes pertinent to the present- day story when inn owner Simon Teal contacts our heroine Edwina Darke saying that people think his inn is haunted.

Edwina Darke & her sisters—all of whom have unique jobs at their paranormal investigation agency—are on the case.

While the story is atmospheric & creepy in a way I wanted, the ending is satisfying, & the moments of sweetness are engaging, I’m not a huge fan of insta feelings—which this felt like to me—& I didn’t always feel fully connected to the writing style. (Both of those things are “YMMV” kinds of things to me).

But this is a fun story with some great thrills & a sweet & naughty romance too.

3 ⭐️. Out 03/21.

CWs: murder, haunting, reference to rape.

If you like your books sexy with a side of spooky, then Darke Passions is sure to hit all the right notes. With a trio of paranormal investigator sisters, a hunky bespectacled love interest and a mysterious, haunted inn, what’s not to love? Plus now I definitely need to check out Niagara-on-the-Lake as Rosanna’s descriptions of the tourist town sounded so charming.

Thank you to Rosanna for providing me with an ARC of Darke Passions! Excited to see what’s next for the Darke sisters.

This book serves sisterly love and a low angst romantic relationship that quickly settles into the cute, comfortable stage. Simon and Edwina both have painful pasts in the relationship department, but they both want to move on and find love and acceptance in each other. And they do—after a couple small conversational hiccups they’re open and honest about where they’re at and what they want. Any and all external forces attempting to wreck that are swiftly and succinctly shut down.

The story stakes completely lay with the plot and its malignant ghost villain.

The Darke sisters are very good at what they do—investigating hauntings and helping both the living and the dead move forward. I appreciated the care and respect in which they approach their work, and the focus on research and historical background that was weaved into the story. The sisters are motivated by helping people, creating awareness, and demonstrating the credibility of their work, not garnishing YouTube video views and followers for clout. Edwina especially exudes confidence and competence—sporting tactic-cool gear and an expert use of gadgetry—I loved it. And Simon loved it, too ;)

***spoilers***

I loved that the plot of this book revolved around helping the ghosts of two lovers finally get their happily-hereafter and revenge against the man who took their HEA away from them in life. I wish we got more of the lovers’ reunion, and I’m secretly hoping the author writes a novella or short story about them in the afterlife.

Really looking forward to Susannah and Addy’s books.

Content notes: sex, conversation about emotionally abusive and/or cheating exes and toxic family members, possession, a rapey misogynistic ghost.

I don’t read a lot of paranormal books, but Darke Passion was so good! I loved Rosanna Leo’s Handymen series, and I loved the premise of three ghost-hunting sisters working together, so I knew I needed to read this book.

Darke Passion was such a fun read, with romance and mystery, and just enough spookiness. Even though it is a contemporary romance, I loved the glimpse of history that we get. The author did an amazing job bringing this world to life. Edwina and Simon were so perfect together and had so much chemistry! I also love when books have wonderful side characters that you want to learn more about.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Darke Music.

Thank you to the author for a digital ARC!

Darke Passion started out really strong for me with engaging characters, an intriguing ghost story, strong historical background, and an adorable attraction between Edwina (h) and Simon (H). However, as the story progressed, the pacing of the romance and then the plot faltered for me. I still had a good time reading and I clearly finished the story, but as the book approached the ending, I was puzzled by some of what was happening on page. The setting is Canada at Niagara-on-the-Lake and there's a prologue that takes place in 1812 from the perspective of a young woman who's in love with a Canadian soldier but being pursued by an evil man.

In the present, Simon is a part-owner of a haunted bed and breakfast who contacts Darke Paranormal Investigations to come check out the B&B because his business is struggling as guests are too frightened to stay. Ed and her two sisters investigate the paranormal on the side from their regular jobs. Ed is the skeptic looking for proof, her middle sister is the historical researcher, and their baby sister is a psychic medium. Ed and Simon have some insta-attraction and are so cute with their interest. While their romance is lower angst, what's happening around them is creepy, sometimes threatening, and emotional. Written in third person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither are virgins (no info on how long it's been for either, but both had been treated awfully by their most recent exes).

I loved that in this story, it's the h who's the paranormal investigator. Ed's often assured, confident, and competent while being tech-savvy as well. Best of all, Simon is even more attracted seeing Ed shine in her work. At the start, both are circling each other but Simon's slow to open up (rightfully because his past includes a rotten ex and family members) and Ed is cautious because of the red flags she ignored with her own ex. Simon's sometimes awkward, but also a sweetheart. Even though there was a slowness to their initial interest, these two fairly quickly fell into bed and then feelings. I honestly would have preferred that the progression was more protracted since it felt like this was going to be a slow build-up to a relationship as they got comfortable and instead it was a walk that burst into a sprint. There are a few steamy scenes and I liked the communication and consent they shared in those moments. Something about the spicier times didn't fully pull me in, but I think this was just personal taste on the writing style.

Ghost-wise, the B&B has a couple of different ghosts and the investigation was very interesting. I liked the descriptions of what was happening, including with Ed's medium sister a lot. There weren't any shocking moments, but definitely some creepy ones. One of the ghosts' stories was also heartstring tugging. Where the haunting plot lost me briefly was when the characters resolved one aspect of their mission and then left the area for a few weeks, as if the whole haunting was addressed. But it wasn't and I was left confused until the remainder was then handled. How psychic powers manifested and were used in different people also had me questioning a couple times. There was also a sort of plot twist that made sense, but also felt forced. But with the paranormal, it's the author's world and how they build it is up to them.

The main side characters were Ed's sisters, Simon's B&B partner (who was bright and fun), and then characters in the town that they interacted with because of the investigation, although one becomes more important and was very likable. Ed's sisters are very different from her and I liked the love they clearly had for each other, but also the times they clashed since that added realism to their working relationship. Simon's family is never on page in person, but their actions and choices are brought up. The ghosts are also side characters, but I don't want to spoil anything by getting into them.

The ending is a HFN with Ed and Simon together and a sweet moment to also wrap-up the ghost story. I'm sure that this couple will pop into the other books in the series. Even though parts of the romance happened faster than I prefer, there wasn't a third act breakup and Ed and Simon were very cute together. Ed was also supportive of Simon telling off his awful family and he embraced her non-normal family.

This was actually quite interesting and I loved the premise - because I'm always on the lookout for books with ghost hunting and romance(yep I want both in the same book). So, I was quite excited to read this one and it started off well with our protagonist - Edwina Darke and her sisters going off to work on a case that involves the potential haunting of an inn. And they meet the co owner Simon who's kind of a skeptic about these things. But with the unusual activity driving away the customers he has no choice but to turn to them for a solution. As soon as they meet there is an instant attraction between them but they're both cautious due to their past experiences. The mystery also ramps up as they encounter paranormal activity and decide to dig deep into the history of the town.

The plot and the whole set up was very intriguing with a lot of historical information that was interesting(Honestly I didn't know much about Canada's history during war time). I could see that the author has done a lot of research to craft this story. I think where this fell a little short for me was perhaps the romance between the characters which was a bit of an insta-love scenario. Instant attraction is not a problem for me as long as the subsequent emotional+relationship development is done well. But, I felt like that was missing here, but it might just be me who feels this way as others might enjoy this.(I was actually struggling to settle on a rating for this one because it wasn't like I didn't enjoy reading this story which is what 3 stars would suggest, but I feel like it fell a bit short of 4 stars for me)

On the other hand, I loved the characters, the spooky atmosphere and the suspenseful mystery. I kept turning the pages wanting to know more about how things would turn out. And the ending was pretty satisfactory too! Overall I think this was a good paranormal romance that many would enjoy and I'm very curious about the stories of the other Darke sisters too!

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
I’ve never read Rosanna Leo before, but we are mutuals on Twitter, and I took the chance on an ARC offer she posted there for Darke Passion. While I don’t read much paranormal romance, the concept of the book, around ghost-hunting sisters and investigating a historic B&B.
While all the sisters play roles in their business and the story, Edwina is at the forefront of this one. I love how Edwina is a bit of a skeptic, which does seem to be a must for any paranormal investigative team (think Velma and Scooby-Doo, which the text references), and I like how that translates to her enthusiasm to take on these cases. She’s independent and tough, with a soft vulnerable side underneath. Her dynamic with her sisters was also welcome, and I hope that remains a constant in future books, as each takes on a leading role.
Simon is a pretty sweet guy, and I love that he’s on the softer side to allow Edwina’s toughness to shine, without being too much of a pushover. He’s very technical and business-minded, and I like that he’s a hero who is more cerebral, standing out against many who tend to be more brawny.
While the story is set largely in the present day, I love that the paranormal element provides a connection to the past, namely the War of 1812. Even as an American, this is a conflict I’ve learned little about, much less the Canadian side of things, so I appreciated getting some context for that, as well as getting little breadcrumbs to the story of the ill-fated lovers from the past.
This is a solid start to what looks to be a fun series, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories with ghosts/ghost hunting and history/old houses.

A Spooky and Unique Romance Read

I purposefully left this new paranormal romance from Rosanna Leo until I could read it during spooky season, and I was not disappointed. Darke Passion seamlessly incorporates ghost hunting, romance, and a mystery set around the War of 1812 from a Canadian perspective. The novel follows a trio of ghost-hunting sisters who investigate an historic B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake that is experiencing some unexplained ghostly activity and scaring the guests away.

Led by the eldest sister, Edwina Darke finds herself falling for the co-owner of the B&B, Simon Teal, initially a sceptic, whose gentler, softer character provided a nice complement to Edwina’s strong and determined, rough around the edges (she has reasons!) personality. And can I just say that one of my favourite romance tropes happens to be characters who bonk while solving mysteries, so I appreciated that aspect!

The further I got into the story, the more I wanted to know about this trio of quirky sisters with unusual hidden talents and the author unleashes multiple reveals and teasers in the final quarter of the story to hook you in to the rest of the Darke Paranormal Investigations series.

Darke Passion was a spooky and unique romance read with an HEA and I can’t wait to read the next two instalments!

Just when you think a book will be more lighthearted, the author throws a zinger with a darker edge. I love paranormal stories especially ones on the romance drama. This book is a tad different since the characters deal in this realm vs being a certain creature.

Edwina and her sisters investigate paranormal occurrences in their native Canada. She’s more skeptical and thinks most occurrences are more manmade. Well in this case, she finds out that’s not the case and something truly evil resides within. To keep her grounded and give her soaked panties is Simon, one of the B & B owners, who is just as skeptical in the beginning.

This story was cute but I liked that danger vibe with the entities involved. Both Edwina and Simon have trust issues with the opposite sex, and wish Simon’s was resolved better or explored more. They are magnetic together and glad they learned to trust and fall in love.

If you love ghost hunting shows, I recommend this book. Mostly the reason why it sucked me from the first page.

Romance, ghosts and a great story.

This book grabbed me from the description and lived up to my hopes.

Simon and Connie have a ghost problem so ask the Darke sisters for help. The Darke sisters are Edwina our main lady in this book, Addeilade and Susannah. Susannah is not much of a feature but Addeilade is very interesting and strong, as is Edwina.

Simon just wants peace in his b&b so hopes the Darke sisters will help him achieve this. Spending so much time investigating Edwina and Simon grow close (no cheating, as Connie is a business partner!). The pair of them are cute but definitely have a spark.

The ghost story is intriguing, I enjoyed it. It seemed a bit risky at times though!

The character development was fab, Simon had a story and Edwina most certainly does, I was surprised where hers went.

The climax of the book was spot on.

Great read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Loved the premise of this book. The murder mystery with paranormal activity at the centre. Such a fast-paced read-a 24 hour read. I had chills, laughter, smiles and happiness throughout.

For me I do not believe in ghosts etc so I really connected with Edwina and Simon on that aspect. Their relationship blossomed really nicely throughout the book.

I mean who doesn’t love a nerd- but boy did he take control in the bedroom😍.

Couldn’t finish this book quick enough and could NOT put it down!! glad I picked this up. Would wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Thank you to Rosanna Leo for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Darke Passion combines a chilling ghost story with a rewarding, empowered romance. Rosanna Leo is one of my go-to authors, which meant I was eager to follow her into a paranormal series, and she met every one of my expectations and more. Simon and Edwina were wonderful characters put in a sometimes frightening situation, but their consistent faith in each other provides an optimism that keeps the romance going and keeps it at the core of the story. He is seriously the sweetest, and they make a believable pair who delights in each other. I love the "helping each other heal" trope, and the arc these two go on to find their forever melds so well with the paranormal mystery they have to solve. I can't wait for books two and three!

I gobbled this book down - and Rosanna Leo is quickly becoming one of my favourite contemporary romance authors. This scratches an itch I may not known I have...ghost hunting romances! I loved the chemistry between the Darke sisters and of course, between Edwina and Simon. The romance is tight and not melodramatic, and the ghost hunting bits actually made me huddle just a little more under my covers! (What can I say...I'm a chicken!!!). I loved how she weaved the history of the area - Niagara on the Lake - into the story, and I learned a lot about that area and the 1812 history in the area. It was there, it was the perfect amount for me - enough to learn but not too much to bog down the story. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series!

Steeped in mystery, Darke Passion is a satisfying, page-turning tale with everything you could want: a star-crossed romance, a haunted mansion, and three unforgettably charming sisters. Scary and spicy fun!

That’s my blurb, but Simon and Edwina are absolutely adorable together and as someone who totally gets Edwina’s taste in men, I was happy to see a non-conventional hero in a romance. The spooky bits are creepy fun and the spice is just right. This was a great novel to cuddle up with during this cold snap we’re having on the West Coast. I also learned a bit about the Canadian side of the War of 1812 while reading, too.

Can’t wait for Susannah and Addy’s stories!

Great start to a new series! Simon the hot nerd is exactly my sort of hero: smart, kind, and totally gone for the heroine. Edwina is a great contrast, with her tough shell and exacting ways. The team of the three Darke sisters was wonderful, with relationships both supportive and real. The book is rich with historical detail, really bringing the setting and the ghost story to life. The book manages to mix a sexy romance with a bittersweet lost love story, creepy paranormal events, and a truly rotten villain. The ending was exciting and very fitting for the book as a whole. Looking forward to reading the next installment!
