Another absolutely brilliant and sexy addition to this series by the lovely Harlow Blaze! I didn't think anything could top the previous two stories of Baz and Jay finding their fated mates, but Axel and Nadine proved me wrong in the best way. Axel was such a broken soul, living with the guilt of his son's death for so long that he had stopped living and was merely existing. Then one night, Nadine bursts into his life painting his monochromatic life in bright colors and sarcastic jokes which left him reeling and craving more...despite his vow to never let anyone close again.
I absolutely LOVED the dynamic between Nadine and Axel! In many ways Axel was the steadfast and dependable presence that Nadine has always craved in her life, while Nadine was the shot of adrenaline that Axel didn't know he needed. They both balanced each other so beautifully and brought out the best in each other, and I loved watching them both flourish in the face of their mutual love.
Also, thank you, Harlow, for letting us see a fully devoted yet still conflicted Jay! I loved seeing another side of my favorite brooding dragon as he struggled to bask in his angst in the face of Hazel's eternal optimism (one of my favorite scenes!), and I thoroughly enjoyed every scene he effortlessly stole. I'm so freaking stoked for Mars's book next as we finally get to see more of the stoic witch, Starla!

I've been waiting Axel's story since the end of The Dragon Berserker's Mate, and definitely Harlow Blaze's third book in the Bad Dragon's Bride Series doesn't disappoint.
I only have one objection..... 45 IS NOT OLD!!!!
The Dragon Soldier's Mate is steamy hot, with funny, goofy characters, a good plot that will keep you hooked to the page, and a lot of action.
We get to know at last Axel, the Seattle Eyrie Doctor, discover his past, and the reasons behind his loneliness and guilt. And we get to see more of Jay's family life..
I hope the next book will be quick to come, because I'm dying to read about the goofy Mars and his (spelled...) love for Starla, our resident witch.

This is book 3 in the Bad Dragon's Bride series by Harlow Blaze. The highly descriptive writing draws you into the lives of Nadine and Axel and the Seattle eyrie and doesn't let you go. This steamy paranormal romance can be read as a standalone and contains an HEA.

October 28, 2022This is another entertaining read for the series. Well written with great details, and fun characters, I found the story fully engaging and full of all the feels. Blackmail, chemistry, humour, sadness...just so many emotions to make this an all round great romance :D

Nadine is a newly qualified nurse, just hired to assist a doctor at the eyrie. Then she finds out who she will be working with…. Secrets and an unplanned pregnancy create trouble.
This was a good book that is well written. Excellent world building, fascinating characters. There was real chemistry between the H and h and they had a lot in common, despite their being two different species. The action and romance make this book a page turner for a fast and satisfying read. I recommend this book to anybody who enjoys shifter romance. Also, try the previous books in the series. This can be read as a standalone, but it’s a better experience after reading the first two books.

This is book three of the Bad Dragon’s Bride series and the main characters are Nadine Leone, who has just qualified as a nurse and Dr Axel Jeroe, a dragon shifter and the only doctor to the Seattle dragon eyrie. Nadine is fortunate to have gooten a job as a nurse at the eyrie, even with no experience or many qualifications, but mainly because of her attitude. The interviewer thought she would fit right in and be able to manage any surly dragons. She is glad to finally start paying back her mother, who is now in a wheelchair, for all the years she raised her as a single mother, working two or more jobs. Nadine hasn’t had many blow outs or even relaxed much whilst she was studying, but before she starts her new job, she reckons she deserves a night out and the chance to find someone that can make her scream, in a good way! Her wish is granted when she visits a local shifter club, where her friend Starla works, not knowing that Starla is in fact a witch, with a stalker problem! She goes out for a breath of fresh air and sees a handsome silver fox out in the smoking area and adds a few years to her age. She makes it obvious what she wants from him and can see the interest in his eyes, at least some of the time. They end up in a wild encounter against a wall and then Axel is called away to get rid of Max, a dragon causing problems for Starla.
When they meet again, it is at the eyrie and Axel’s immediate response to her being his new nurse, is to tell her she needs to leave! Nadine can’t afford to lose her job, her family and loved ones have been threatened by a strange dragon who somehow got into her mother’s house and knows all about Nadine and her new job at the eyrie. She must work as a spy for him and provide him whatever he wants to know, or she will lose everyone she loves, but it will also mean selling out her boss, the very man who rocked her socks off the night before! Axel had a relationship with a human female previously and has a bit of a soft spot where they are concerned, but all it brought him was heartache and loss. He certainly didn’t think he would get mixed up with another human female any time soon. Some of the other dragons have managed to find human women with a dragon symbol, able to bear their children and so he has a few very protective dragons and their pregnant mates to deal with. This is why he needed a female to join his staff, but his admin skills are nowhere near as good as his doctoring skills, nor does it get much of his attention.
Her unexpected and chilly visitor the night before made her drop her pill and now her one night stand with silver fox, dragon Axel, has resulted in something unexpected, leaving her following her own mother’s journey into single motherhood! To Axel, a human becoming pregnant because of him, is his worst nightmare and brings him back memories of his human son Cody, his life and early death, which tore his heart apart. Nadine needs to stick around and find out the eyrie’s secrets so that Diesel can steal one of their childbearing human females. But can she really go through with such a plan, even to save herself and her mother? Her feelings for Axel are ever increasing and she gets hot whenever he gets close, with a burning sensation in her chest as well. Life is going to change, whichever path she decides to follow. Grumpy older doctor who should have known better, or a dangerous but troubled younger drake with no place of his own, who is being ordered about by a ruthless dragon king from California. Axel senses how much Nadine needs her job and allows her to stay for a month, so he can give her some training, but he doesn’t even realise himself, how much he actually needs her and that she has changed him already, just with her presence in the infirmary. It is only when she doesn’t come in to work that he finally realises the truth of his feelings for her and his protectiveness ramps up a gear or to when she is in danger. A fantastic story with some steamy bits, but also lots of background to each main character and some great interactions to give the story some depth and intrigue. Soulmates come together, even before any sign of Nadine being suitable arises, and a HEA ending with an added twist thrown in. I look forward to reading the next story in the series and catching up on any I have missed so far. I would definitely recommend this book to all who love a good story, with humans, shifters and especially dragons! This is the first book I have read by Harlow Blaze, but I'm sure it won't be the last. She concocts a great story with personable characters and will keep you turning pages with no breaks. Clear, concise and snappy dialog keeps things moving.
Axel is a dragon who runs the shifter medical clinic for the Portland OR clan. He needs a nurse. In comes Nadine, a nurse-in-training with a smart mouth and brain to match. He'd already met her the night before at the local nightclub where he weakened and succumbed to her natural allure and is now regretting that weakness big time. He doesn't want to allow any close attachment to develop between them because one, he's twice her age, and two, she's human. Plus, he's still reliving the pain of losing his half human son from his first dragon-human relationship. But Nadine's persistence eventually wears down Axel's defenses, leading to a pink line on a stick.
Nadine is being blackmailed by Diesel, a dragon shifter from a rival clan to Axel's, pressing her for information that could allow the takeover and destruction of the Portland clan. She thinks she's tough enough to handle Diesel on her own, but eventually confesses to Axel, leaving a note for him when she goes to confront Diesel. She's in trouble now. Big trouble.
Will Axel arrive in time to save Nadine and his baby? Even if he does, can he survive a knock-down drag-out fight with Diesel, who seems to possess some really rad magic powers? This is where the nail biting starts. Ms. Blaze describes the ensuing action in vivid detail, allowing the reader to accurately visualize everything. You won't want to miss a word.
I look forward to reading the two earlier volumes in this series, as well as the upcoming one with Mars, the huge, gruff bodyguard who tries, without much success, to safeguard Nadine, and Starla, who owns the shifter nightclub and repeatedly complains that his attentions toward her are unreciprocated. Yeah. Right.

Love Axel!
Wow – I have been waiting to read Axel’s story, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Axel has had more tragedy in his life than most, and it doesn’t help that he is quite a bit older than the other drakes. Axel had a child with a human and his son tragically died from leukemia 14 years ago, which prompted him to actually use his healing power to get his medical license. Except he’s a bit overrun and needs a nurse. Enter Nadine, fresh out of nursing school and excited that she has the opportunity to work with the dragons. She is visited by another dragon at her home who threatens her and her mother if she won't get the information he asks for about the dragons. The night before her first day, she decides to let off some steam and goes to the shifter club where she meets Axel. Immediately she is attracted to him and her chest burns.
Axel also feels drawn to her, but he is not about to have another relationship with a human after the last time – but a one-night stand he can do.
It's not until the next day that they realize completely their situation – having to work together after a passion-filled encounter. She needs this job – if for nothing else but to keep her mother safe.
They keep growing closer to each other and end up falling in love – then her dragon mark shows up. I wasn’t entirely sure why it waited to show up when the others received theirs immediately…..? But she has to get the other dragon off her back. She goes to face him off and gets herself into trouble when he realizes that SHE is pregnant with a dragon baby. But Axel is there for the rescue! After a couple of harrowing chapters, they finally get their happily ever after. I really, really enjoyed this book…and I actually really liked Diesel, so I hope they find him and take him in – I actually felt really bad for his situation. I also really loved the little sneak preview into Mars and Starla’s book!

4.5 stars. Nadine, the female lead, is preparing for a one night stand before she starts a new job working for dragon shifters. She’s scared by an intruder blackmailing her into providing information on her new employer and fails to take her pill. She then picks up Axel, the male dragon shifter lead, not realising he’s her direct supervisor until he gives her his number on the way out. Now she has to work with him, work out how to provide her blackmailer what he wants, and keep emotions out of the equation. Axel has his own reasons for not wanting a relationship but he can’t seem to stop wanting Nadine…
This story is dual POV, well written, and an emotionally engaging, fast paced romance. I know this is book 3 in the series but this is actually the first story I’ve read by this author and I’m so glad I did! The story stands alone, though I think it would be enhanced if I’d read the first two. I enjoyed the lead characters and empathised with both their histories and their reasons for not wanting/expecting a relationship. I also really engaged with secondary characters and even the antagonist (and am quietly hoping that he gets a story of his own later in the series). I enjoyed the banter and interplay in the story, as well as the serious character development of both lead characters that allowed a relationship to develop and deepen. Another sexy dragon bites the dust. I really need to find myself one of them before they are all gone. I am keeping an eye out for the tattoo...
Nadine has snagged herself a primo job as a nurse at the Seattle eyrie. Since she just got her degree and hasn't even finished her practicals, she can only hope that ask goes well. But the dragon man who shows up in her bedroom to threaten her mother's life is a joy killer. If she doesn't share information about the eyrie and its security with him, she will lose her only family. Her plan to get snag some loving to celebrate her new job goes well, though. The silver fox she hooks up with at the club checks all her boxes. At least until she walks into the clinic the next morning and finds out he is her new boss. Oops.
Axel has some sad history with a human female that has darkened his life ever since. The last thing he needs is to find out his one-night stand is his new nurse. He wants to tell her to take a hike, but there is something about the way she brightens up the place with her off-color comments and big smile that convinces him to help her get her certifications before he axes her. Nadine lands a new job at a doctor's office. Things seem to be looking up for her until an unruly dragon decides to blackmail her into telling him about her new dragon boss's clan. If she doesn't cooperate he's threatened to hurt her disabled mother. Nadine visits a shifter club and finds herself flirting with a handsome dragon shifter. They end up getting together and they both think that's the end of it, no big deal they had a one night stand. But when she walks into work the next morning, her boss is the guy she met in the club the night before and he doesn't want her there.
Axel doesn't want to get into a relationship with a human because he doesn't want to lose another family. So when he recognizes the woman from the night before, he just wants to get rid of her. The Dragon Soldier’s Mate, third book of the series is yet another excellent trip through the intrigue and suspense that surrounds the Seattle Eyrie dragon shifters.
This time the story follows Private Nurse Nadine who has been hired to assist the Eyrie’s only male doctor, dragon shifter Axel.
Fate does have a way of throwing a few wrenches into the mix though and low and behold on the night before starting her new job Nadine is confronted in her home by dragon shifter Diesel, most definitely a bad guy. Making threats against her invalid mother he wants Intel on the Seattle Eyrie which she will provide when he contacts her or else! Well, this does put a crimp in her celebratory night out. Does it stop her from going clubbing though? NO!
Little does our intrepid sassy heroine know but the hot encounter she has at the club with dragon shifter Axel is with her new BOSS!
Well written, fast paced and totally engaging this was a fantastic story that keeps a reader glued to the pages and immersed as these two fated mates navigate the obstacles and emotional battles, they will have to endure to finally reach their much-deserved HEA.

I really love the concept of this series. I mean, I'm a sucker for a big, bad dragon shifter who turns to mush for his woman. And the author is a really good writer with a gift for snappy, snarky dialog. (That's a compliment.) I just keep finishing these books feeling disappointed by each heroine's characterization. After the far-too-young Hazel from the previous book, I had high hopes for Nadine. As a nurse, she'd have to be a full-fledged adult, right? Wrong.
Twenty-two, gah. I know I'm old, but that's really young, and the whole "Daddy" and "my best girl" stuff was a little (a lot) yucky for me. Personal preference though, I get that. But I was also disappointed that she had no practical nursing skills and really didn't have an occasion to even try to nurse while at the eyrie. I just needed her to be more of her own person.
It looks like Starla's book is next. Dare I shift my hopes for a well-characterized heroine to her?

A well written fun read that flows well and is the perfect escape from reality for a while
Nadine needs a good job to help her sick mother so when she gets a job as a nurse at the clinic of the Seattle dragons she thinks her worries are over That is until she is accosted in her own home and her family is threatened if she doesn't spy on the clan of her new boss. Hoping to forget for just a few hours she heads to a local shifter club and has one night of passion with a silver fox dragon shifter that should be the end of it except the next morning she discovers her one night stand is non other than her new boss. Axel is drawn to his new employee and he knows just how hot she is after all he spent a night with her but he also knows how fragile humans are and he cannot go through that again But she has a target on her back and he needs to protect her especially when the fact she forgot to take her pill comes into play. I really enjoy Harlows vision on her Dragons and their surroundings world. Where a few years ago the shifter world had been revealed to us.
From starting this series, I thought I'd just got the gist on the characters. But how naive of me.
This time we get to know Axel the eyries doctor. He has a clinic in the towering buildings and of course all the dragons in this eyrie live within the four towers.
Axel ,a great Dr but lost in his own inprisonment. He realises he is living in a rut,but but he feels, it's no more than he deserves. Feeling old and weary.
One night doing a favour for Jay, who is currently an over protective ,grumpy dragon. Axel meets a firecracker, Nadine.
A young woman with her own insecurities. Looking out for a good strong shifter,for a good night. Nadines got a great sense of humour ,with a dirty mouth. But can they bring down each others security walls,whilst keep the female human Dragon mates safe?
Great read couldn't help laughing out loud. On to next book now.

Heat, steam, pathos, and mating magic
The tropes in this steamy shifter romance are many and varied: older man/younger woman, dragon shifter/human mating, dearth of dragon females, loss of a child, growing up fatherless, "good" bad guys, stalking, kidnapping, betrayal of trust... on it goes. Making sense of this dizzying array is the job of author Harlow Blaze - and it's a job well done. I would have liked a wee bit more detail in the world building, because some issues and character motivation don't seem very well integrated into the main story. There is, however, plenty of story to sink your reader's teeth into - and the angsty romance is the glue that binds all. there are some really well-drawn characters, and some minor ones that are more vague than I like (see "world building") but this is a crazy fascinating and surprisingly touching dragon shifter romance, and I'm fer shur gonna read the next in series. This has been a voluntary ARC review.

I had read The Dragon King’s Mate and The Dragon Berserker's Mate, so when I saw the chance to read The Dragon Soldier's Mate, I JUMPED at the chance to read it. And going in having enjoyed the first two, I had high expectations.. did they get met… OH yes, they did.
This story involves some of my favorite tropes of feisty MC, once-night stands with surprise your boss, surprise pregnancy and my true fav… age gaps. Maybe like Nadine, I have dad issues, Lol. And dad issue Axel has a hard past, and it truly broke my heart to read and learn about his strength. He also ends up being my new fav McSteamy.
Nadine and Axel have amazing chemistry that is steaming and playful, and you will truly enjoy their banter. Get this book… IF YOU LIKE SHIFTERS AND AGE GAPS AND are at least okay with a surprise pregnancy, then get this book.

**3.5 stars, rounded down for excessive use of the word 'creampie'**

So I'll preface this by saying that this book is the first I've read in the series, and the world building is done well enough that I didn't feel like I was missing any vital details starting at book 3. I'm a big fan of dragon shifters in general, and reading a book where they were part of human society without being villainized was refreshing.
That being said, there were definitely some pacing issues in the story for me. We went from insta-lust (and I mean who doesn't have insta lust for an older Daddy typpe, so fair), to borderline ambivalence, to love without enough character/relationship development in between for me.
Choppiness of the pacing aside, the characters were charming, to the point that even the bad guys are ridiculously likeable, and the story was sweet.

I throughly enjoyed this book. I think Axel and Nadine may now be my new favourite Seattle Eyrie couple. There was humour, action, drama, age-gap and sexy times and it kept me entertained throughout. Would recommend.

I really enjoyed this book! The first book I’ve read by this author and as soon as I finished I went on to read the other two books in the series. I’ve read a lot of shifter books involving wolves, bears, big cats, but hardly any with dragons and I loved the way Blaze created these glorious shifter characters and their dragons: big, bad and mean on the outside and soft as kittens as soon as they find their mate!
The story was fun, sexy and had more than a hint of danger, a great combination and allowed Axel’s dragon to have some exciting scenes as well.
Nadine was a lovely character and match for Axel, with her nursing qualifications matching his work, as well as being a strong, sassy female, who wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted.
I’m now eagerly awaiting further stories in this series!

Axel is a great guy with a tragic backstory. He isn't a sad and depressed character though, he is happy and sweet. Because of his back story he is cautious, a doctor, and protective. It dictates his actions until he realizes he has to keep living. I really liked his character.
Nadine is new to the dragon world. She is excited to learn about it and to learn more about being a nurse. It was funny when she realized she was going to be working for Axel after having a one night stand with him. His reaction to the same realization was even more funny because he tried to deny it at first. Nadine makes Axel and the readers laugh. She has humor and is just excited about everything. How she tries to handle her blackmail situation is humorous too. She does her best to get out of it but Axel does have to help her in the end.
The side character Diesel is fun. He isn't scary even when he tries to be. I really liked his power and wanted to learn more about it.
I liked the plot. It read well and was a fast read.

I loved The Dragon Soldier's Mate: Book 3 of Bad Dragon's Bride. Such a great story, so many different emotions while reading it. Axel is a dragon shifter who meets Nadine one night in a bar, it was a quick and hit meeting but they both knew it was a one time thing until Nadine shows up for her new job and Axel is her boss. Their chemistry is off the charts but she’s human and he can’t go down that road again even if his dragon wants him to. Eventually the pull is to much and they need to be together. When Nadine puts herself in danger to protect her family Axel must save her and their future. Such a great storyline and lovable characters. Loved how serious Axel was and how funny Nadine was. Can’t wait for the next story. I would definitely recommend this and now I need to read the first 2 books.

Nadine was hired as a private nurse to dragon shifters so Diesel threatened to kill her mother if she didn’t get information about the dragons she was going to work for. Nadine went to a shifter bar because her friend worked there but she got a coke went out to the smoking area as Starla told her to. Saw Axel and liked what she saw and had a thing right there, she went to report to the doctor she was working for and it was Axel. They had a difference of opinions but they worked it out and still fell for each other even when he was a lot older than her. Almost got kidnapped when she told Diesel that she wasn’t going to help him anymore because she had the dragon stamp on her chest above her breast showing that she was able to be mated to a dragon. But was rescued! Good book!.

The Dragon Soldier's Mate by Harlow blaze is my first book from the author and it wont be the last..3rd book in the series and the story will hoked you from start to finish..There is intrigue,action,steam, suspense and fun..;loved it! This is Axel and Nadine 's story..Axel is a dragon shifter and a doctor and Nadine is a human and fresh nursing graduate and hired as a private nurse of a dragon clan and to assist the only dragon doctor of the clan but before she start on her job another dragon shifter blackmailed her to be spy so her mother is not unharmed and after shen went out to a bar shifter and met Axel the man who is older and gorgeous and make her skin tingle and her heart beat faster and gave her the night she never forget..

But what happens when Axel finds out her true reason for working there and what happens when Nadine finds out she is pregnant from her night with Axel.

This was just soooooo soooo good to read. I am absolutely loving this series, and its always intriguing to see what the next book brings.

This is the 3rd in the series so far, and I am suprised at how different this book appears off the start from the previous two.
