In this text you can set sail on a journey of discovery and explore 7000 kilometres and over 4500 years of rich and varied life along the Nile. See Nubian warriors searching for raiders, a Greek riot, boats unloading slaves and the funeral of a powerful king. The book features 14 panoramic illustrations, each depicting a different time period.
I would have given this book 5 stars if it had been in chronological order. I have no idea why it was written in this way. From AD to BC and back. If the magical pelican had only flown through time in a way that made sense to my young children, this book would have been awesome. They loved looking for the different imagines, searching for the pelican. The illustrations were wonderful and gave so much more detail to what we were reading about.
who writes a pictoral history book for kids out of chronological order?! How incredibly frustrating. There was NO sense to the order, skipping from AD to BC and back again with the flip of the page. Decent pictures.
We really liked it, but the book travels geographically along the Nile, not chronologically. The LO was confused so we jumped around in chronological order instead. An older child with a better grasp on BC/AD will get more out of it in order.
