I loved this book about two different people who had little in common besides being at middle age.
Winona has been a big country music star who feels her star is waning as she nears 40. It seems she gives out awards to younger artists every year. She really wants to have a baby before it’s too late. He hears there is an abundance of single men in Stone Ridge so she leaves Nashville behind and starts interviews with men in hopes of finding a decent baby daddy. While she is doing interviews, Riggs shows up to work on the addition to the home Winona is renting. He thinks it’s for a personal assistant. When he finds out differently, he’s more than a little shocked. Still there is something special about Winona besides her celebrity and looks.
When things get hot and heavy between them, he doesn’t necessarily want to be a father, but surprise, Winona gets pregnant. Will they be able to keep things simple or not?
The people of Stone Ridge are all about hospitality and good food. It’s hard for Winona not to form a bond with them.
Both Winona and Riggs have had difficult younger years. That has colored their lives and choices they made. Winona has been used to getting her way in her career, but she’s still got a tender heart. Riggs has always been caring and has protected his heart in recent years. Riggs is a builder, cowboy and lawyer.
Besides romance, there is a good bit of suspense. This adds a lot to the plot.
I have been reading Heatherly Bell’s novels a while and this now my favorite.

I have read all of the books in the Men of Stone Ridge series and I have to say that Built like a Cowboy is my favorite so far! Winona is a country singer that even though the world sees her as an entitled wealthy superstar, she really wants what most people do, a home, family and someone to love her unconditionally. She comes up with the idea to find someone in the small town of Stone Ridge to be the father of her child and then raise the child on her own. Well in Stone Ridge they are a lot more conventional than Nashville and Riggs is one of the most conventional of all! The push and pull between the two of them really makes this story. I loved Winona because she really has a heart of gold under all that country star glamour and Riggs is a big gruff teddy bear. So I highly recommend this contemporary western accidental pregnancy story. It was told from dual POV and was sweet with a bit of heat! Looking forward to reading more stories set in Stone Ridge.

Just when you think the last book you read in Men of Stone Ridge was so good along s comes book three!!
Heatherly is fast becoming a favorite author to me and I can honestly say that her writing draws me in every time, I feel that I'm there too it's brilliantly written in the way, the characters are very well-formed and work very well together. The plot has romance, characters from the previous books are here also with their own continuing story.
Built Like a Cowboy is Riggs and Winona's story, I believe that if I carry on with spoilers it will not do the story justice, please, purchase the book and come and join the Men of Stone Ridge. You will not be disappointed, I'm not:)

A delight:
This was another great small town, western romance. It could be read as a standalone but I enjoyed catching up with friends from past books.
Riggs and Winona initially clashed continually but when circumstances resulted in them entering into a fake marriage, it wasn't long before they found it harder and harder to resist
one another. They had to both put their preconceived assumptions aside to see the real person behind the front they'd put up
I did find myself getting rather frustrated with them as they seemed to be their own worst enemies at times! I was so pleased when they finally worked things out.
I continue to be impressed by the high quality and originality that this author brings to all of her stories. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next!

Little does he know why Winona is their and interviewing guys for to him is a person assistant. Rigg hit it off by driving Winona nuts hammering while doing her interviews. This leans to them getting very close and her pregnancy's and her wanting to have him sign the contract, which she doesn't know he is also a lawyer, Read to see what happen to this to an the baby.

Winona did not make the best showing in the previous book in this series. She was still dealing with some poor life choices, and she had lost sight of her true self. She was trying to be more authentic at the end of that book, but she wasn't all the way there yet. It turns out that she needs Riggs in order to reach her best life, and he needs her for the same thing.
These two have fantastic chemistry right off the bat. I was laughing so hard when they met! They send sparks all over the place, and it scares them both. They try to focus other things, but they eventually have to face their feelings for one another. Together, they make an excellent couple. I really enjoyed visiting Stone Ridge again!

This is the third book in the series, Men of Stone Ridge, although you could read these out of sequence it would be better to read in order although you would not miss anything if you picked only this book.
This is my favourite so far, have loved the town of Stone Ridge but this has a bit of everything. Celebrity, music, un-expected pregnancy (sort-of), and cowboys.
Would recommend especially if you like your characters to have lived a little.

Miserable, but healthy. Oh, he’d make sure of it, toeing that line like an expert acrobat. Maybe he’d make her eat kale. For the baby, of course.
“Good Lord,” Delores said. “What is this mess?”
“Don’t ask me. She’s like all of these entitled celebrities who think they can have whatever they want, lickety split.” Lillian snapped her fingers.
“She’s not so bad,” Riggs said between his clenched teeth.
How else was he going to explain marrying her in a few days?
Lillian regarded him as though he’d grown a second head. “Really?”
“Maybe she’s changed, Lillian,” Delores said. “A place like Stone Ridge could do that to a woman.”
And this was why he loved Delores. She’d see the good in a field mouse.
“Yeah, she…she…” Riggs wracked his brain for something selfless she’d done. Something kind. Other than the sweet iced tea she served him and occasionally threatened to spit in, he had nothing. “She performed at the Shady Grind for Jackson. They raised money for the new clinic. I’m sure she didn’t charge him, and he had a full house.”

“Oh, good. I hear Judson hired a midwife, and Linc will be taking Sadie there from now on,” Lillian said.
“See? She has her good side.” Delores clapped her hands once.
He’d seen her only good side, and it got him into this mess. “Well, if you’ll excuse me, ladies. I’ve got work to do.”

“You don’t understand.” Winona sniffed into the phone. “He’s actually an attorney.”
She’d gone through half a box of tissues since Riggs had left her house a couple of hours ago. The tears wouldn’t stop coming. How she’d managed to hook up with probably the only cowboy attorney in town, she’d never know.
“I explained that your contract wasn’t terribly binding. I did the best I could with it but there are too many gray areas, ethical, and moral problems surrounding this kind of a thing. Especially considering your financial status. You should have gone with a bank.”
All she’d wanted was a baby. Her own precious child to love and raise. This is what she got for being honest and above board. And for wanting to see the face of her child’s father. For wanting to know him. She now knew far more than she ever wanted to about her baby’s father. He was a jerk!
“That contract would have been fine for most of these men.”
“That’s what you get for not checking the condom’s expiration date, I guess.””
Winona covered her face. “Please don’t pour salt in the wound.”
“Well, honey, let’s take a look at his contract suggestions and see what he’s thinking before we fly off the rails. Maybe he’ll be reasonable. And for God’s sake, do not get married again without a prenup! There is only one Jackson Carver, I assure you.”
Despite the fact that Winona wanted to believe there was another man somewhere with as much character and integrity as Jackson, she had to admit it was a longshot. He’d had the chance to take her for half of everything she had when they’d divorced, but he’d simply walked away from the marriage with only what he’d brought into it.
“I don’t want to marry him. You have to get me out of this.”

Winona is a famous country western singer who is on the downside of her career. Yet she wants nothing more than to have a baby. She is 39 years old, and realizes that her time is running out. Therefore, Winona visits Stone Ridge to discuss her possibilities with her third ex-husband, who is also a country western singer. Since the two of them parted as friends, she thought she could ask him to help her. However, he refuses. Therefore, Winona begins to interview some of the men from Stone Ridge, Texas for the position of “father.” This part is hilarious!

She rents a house to live in during the interview “process.” But she wants an enclosed patio, and the owner agrees. Riggs is hired to do the job. He is a cowboy who owns and runs a huge ranch with his younger brothers. However, he works as a carpenter part-time to supplement his income.

The sparks between Riggs and Winona are very strong when they meet. In fact, they can barely be civil with each other when they are in the same room. It doesn’t take them long before they give into their strong attraction. Unfortunately, immediately afterwards, they discover that their birth control was defective, and Winona is pregnant.

This is not good news for either of them. When Riggs learns the reason Winona was interviewing men, he automatically believes Winona set him up. He is also insulted when Winona presents him with a “Baby Contract” to sign. It explains that, while she will let him visit the child, she plans to raise the baby on her own in Nashville without any help from Riggs.

Riggs is so livid about Winona’s plans that he commandeers the “Baby Contract. He forces her to marry him and gives her very little say in any of the conditions. She must live on his ranch until the baby is born. Then, they will divorce and share custody of the child.

Obviously, Winona hates this man who refuses to give her any say in the solution to their situation. She finds him to be opinionated, overbearing and uncaring.

In the beginning of the book, I actually agree with Winona’s negative feelings towards Riggs. I could not feel happiness for Winona who is married to an unsympathetic, spiteful and rigid man who refuses to look at her point of view. Therefore, I was shocked when I realized that my feelings were slowly unbending towards Riggs.

It is only because of Heatherly Bell’s skillful storytelling that I was able to change my mind. She gradually reels out Winona’s and Riggs’ respective lives and backgrounds, which allows the reader to understand why they each act the way they do. Then, the author slowly allows Riggs’ characteristics to evolve in such a way that, by the end of the book, I was excitedly awaiting their happy ending!

I have started to pack my bags for Stone Ridge!!!!! OMStars what a wonderful small town romance. I have loved Riggs Henderson when he made appearances in prior stories but whew his and Winona's story just blew me away.

I didn't think I would like Winona for Riggs. Riggs is the perfect cowboy. Everyone looks to Riggs for guidance and support. From what I read in the second book of this series about Winona, well lets just say the author had her work cut out for her to get me to change my mind. I mean really she is a divorcee (three times! Yes, three times!!!!) She comes to Stone Ridge to ask her latest ex (Jackson - Nashville Cowboy) to be a "sperm donor". Yep, you heard me right. Of course Eve put a stop to that. Stone Ridge has more men than women so she decides to stay. She doesn't want to go to a sperm bank so she sets up interviews. Riggs comes to her rental to build her "Florida room" in Texas. She thinks he is there for the interview for the sperm donation and the scene is hilarious.

Yes, the author completely won me over in the pairing of these two wonderful characters. Having the story in a dual POV format really helped me to understand and connect with both protagonists. The author also did a wonderful job of crafting the perfect plot for this two. It flowed smoothly and never got boring. There were some great scenes with poignant moments; some funny; some tender and then some hopefully laying the ground work for more Men of Stone Ridge stories. PLEASE don't stop!!!!

There was a few tiny sexy scenes that were not overly graphic in nature and over really quickly in detail. That being said though, I would only recommend this to someone over 18 or parental guidance.

Also while this is a part of a series, you really don't have to read the prior stories to fully enjoy this one but why wouldn't you?!. I would HIGHLY suggest reading the prior ones though as they are fantastic as well.

I loved Winona and Riggs! The snarky banter, the growly rancher, and the bickering were entertaining, but the slow realization that they actually loved each other was captivating. Of course her crazy scheme to find a baby daddy to get her pregnant, after he signed a contract of course, would go wrong. It doesn’t matter that Stone Ridge is basically raining men, only the young, wild and immature guys, or guys much older than Winona, were willing to be interviewed as potential daddy material. Fate brought Riggs to her attention, though she dismissed him from her list of potentials because of his surly attitude and believing he was already attached to someone else. Riggs found her too high maintenance, too rude, and too spoiled when they first met, even though he couldn’t deny his attraction to her. When he got a glimpse of the woman behind the celebrity mask, he found he couldn’t resist her. That one very passionate encounter led to an unexpected pregnancy. Riggs out manoeuvred Winona and her lawyer, resulting in a quickie wedding and her staying on the ranch until the baby is born. Both Riggs and Winona made discoveries about each other that gave them insight to each other’s motives, desires and emotions. They learned that they both have endured painful pasts, have had disastrous marriages and have dreamed of having a loving family of their own. The contract, her career in Nashville and the distrust and doubts of others all made things confusing and conflicted between them. Read this funny, and delightful enemies to lovers romance to find out just how Winona and Riggs finally realized that their marriage was more than just a temporary convenience. It was a path to a happily ever after.

Winona James is an award winning country singer who has been married three times and we met her in the last book in this series as she was Jackson's ex. The author did a great job making me like her in the beginning of this story because I kinda hated her from Jackson's story.

If you read the previous book you know two things.

1. Stoneridge is known for having lotsa single men but not many single women

2. Winona wants a child DESPERATELY, so much so she actually asked for Jackson's help in the last book

Why is she so desperate? Well she is thirty-nine years old and all she has ever wanted was a baby. She decides to throw romance away and instead be practical about finding a baby daddy. And she starts interviewing prospects and thats when she meets widower Riggs. I loved their first interview!!

Riggs is a forty two year old widower, and after one night together she ends up pregnant and married and I adored their marriage of convenience and I am not spoiling anything else. The author did a great job letting the reader get to know Riggs who I loved before but also making me start to see who Winona is and see why Jackson liked her so much. She is a bit of a drama queen but she is also fun and I enjoyed this story.

Knowing that at 39 she is running out of time she heads to Stone Ridge to visit her third ex husband hoping he will volunteer to be the baby daddy but he turns her down Undaunted Winona start to interview the men of Stone Ridge for the job. meanwhile wanting a porch on the home she is renting she employs ranch owner and sometimes carpenter Riggs Henderson and these strikes sparks off one another straight away that leads to a night of [passion and a pregnancy Now Riggs suspects he was set up for her to get her child and is even less impressed when she presents him with a baby contract so he promptly hauls her to the ranch and marries her where she will stay until the baby is born then they can divorce and share custody But ;like all the best laid plans this won't work either as these two fall for one another Can they admit what they want and actually build a future as a family

Whether you call this story fake relationship, marriage of convenience, accidental baby, (semi) secret baby, or any of the other themes that are part of its makeup, there are lots of different places you could slot this book into but none of them do justice to the whole thing. Riggs is a character that stood out to me even from the background of the previous books. I knew instantly that his was a story I needed to read. I’ll admit that in the beginning Winona was not who I pictured for him. However, as the story progressed and we got to know the hearts and histories of our leading couple, I began to understand why these two ‘clicked’, and I loved them together. Oodles of chemistry, tons of snarky banter, even moments of deep introspection and sharing vulnerabilities. Now that I’ve seen it, I can’t picture either Riggs or Winona with anyone else. I’m not sure what the author has up her sleeve next, but I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I love this book. Stone Ridge has many men and Riggs is one of the best. This small town has some big romances that are addicting. Winona comes to Stone Ridge for the soul purpose of getting pregnant by one of the many available men bound by a contract to just do the deed and leave the baby to her sole care. However, her objective takes a serious turn as she encounters the irresisitible Riggs Henderson. Winona gets her wish for a pregnancy but, the her end game is challenged by Riggs and his determination to honor his paternal obligations.
I love their fire, their disagreements, their passion and as they begin to reveal themselves to each other, their vulnerabilities. Riggs and Winona's childhoods and life experiences really draw you into their relationship and how they navigate impending parenthood. There are parts that will make you laugh and parts to make you cry so, you will not be disappointed in this book.

What she didn’t expect was Riggs outrage. He too is invested in this future child as he has no kids of his own and truly wants one.
Not trusting Winona, he proposes marriage for a year and later a divorce so long as she stays in Stone Ridge for the entire year.
Though going against her better judgement, Winona agrees. But what happens when feelings develop? Will they end the marriage after a year, or will they realize that together is the best choice?
The characters are well develops and the plot engaging.
The narration by Johanna Parker brings the audiobook to life.

This is the third book in the Men of Stone Ridge series. Winona and Rigg's story were definitely bumpy and emotionally charged. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series. You get your first intro into Winona in book two. At the end of book two we get a not so great first impression of Winona but I figured there was more than meets the eye. All Winona's ever wanted was a child and a man who loved her for herself not her money or fame. She's made herself a promise that her next marriage will be forever. What she gets with Rigg's is someone who is mad and can't stand her, a temporary marriage, and a baby. One out of three isn't bad right, but can loathing and temporary become love and forever?

I will be honest I wasn't happy Winona was staying in town and interviewing the men to be a donor (facepalm) but then comes along Rigg who not only doesn't have a clue why she is staying in town but also doesn't fall for her fluttering false lashes! After some verbal sparring they cave to the attraction they feel for each other aaaaaannnd it all goes sideways from there and good lord did I want to shake Winona for how she tried to handle it and want to high five Rigg for his counter move because as much as he seems demanding and closed off Winona needs to learn she can't always get her way or treat people like they owe her. This has plenty of sparks, laughs, reality checks along with attraction that can't be ignored and a chance at redemption and real love.

When they get together and she gets pregnant, the sparks really fly and they are not all the good kind. Riggs reworks the baby contract so she has to stay at the ranch until the baby is born.
The characters are terrific, with great backstories and intense feelings and emotions. The storyline takes you from the sparring to the heated romance as they spend time together for 9 months. Loved how they become closer the more they know about each other. The ending was terrific. Can not wait to read more of this series.

The ladies of SORROW were awesome!
This tale has an older couple who should know better who after one - night stand become future parents. Winona is finally pregnant at thirty-nine that is not the bad part she is a country music star and has more than enough money to raise a child but there is a problem because the child’s father is involved. Riggs Henderson is tricky if they enter into a marriage of convenience and she stay in Stone Ridge during her pregnancy Riggs promised to give her full custody and an uncontested divorce. These two characters were fun to watch and oh the chemistry was great. There are bumps in the road and some danger too. For the love of Twinkies (I adore this phase) I loved this book. I highly recommend the '‘singing Annie Oakley from Stone Ridge.” I did receive a free copy of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily chose to review it.

I didn't like Winona much in the last book. She came to Stone Ridge for ex-husband Jackson even though he falling for Eve again and sticks around looking for a sperm donor so she can have a baby. I laughed over the applications for her “personal assistant” position and the way she and Riggs rubbed each other the wrong way from the beginning. Until their anger turns to passion one night and she might get what she wanted, but Riggs isn't just going to roll over and let her walk out of his life without his own contract. Winona is still high maintenance at times, but after hearing how her past shaped her I got to see another compassionate enjoying small town ranching life side to her in this book.
