And will the five of them survive the outcome? Saved by my Stepbrothers is book three in the Family Confessions a dark, whychoose, romance by Angel Lawson & AK Rose.
We've got the conclusion to the hot and depraved family confessions series! It didn't lack in the hotness department that's a given. After Katie's injury.. the guys are allowing her to heal at her own speed. She wants to get things done and they want her to take it easy so we've got a sweet, but oh so dirty compromise happening. Still on the hunt for Jack and Oliver's moms attacker. Determined to give them the answers they desperately search for. Even if it puts her in danger.
They helped form this new her. They allowed her to find her inner darkness that was just waiting to be let free. Now that it's out, it can't be harnessed and put back. She's a phoenix and needs to show it off. That she does.
Jack.. Jack.. Jack... he stole the show for me in this last book! Still love Oliver since his soul is the most tender of the group, imo. Still not a big fan of the detective lol. This book was better with him, but not by much.
The twists were good and kept me thinking and hooked on the story!
This was a fun conclusion. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the others, I think just because it was so fast paced and I feel like some of the characters did a 180 without it being flushed out which makes sense because this was so short. The big mystery didn’t surprise me which I didn’t mind, but it happened way too fast. Overall I really enjoyed this, but it’s not my favorite of the three.
This series definitely pulled me out if a reading slump. The writing style got a little better this book. Less grammatical errors. Overall enjoyed the series, although I felt like there were some loose ends.
This series has been a ride from the beginning. From the moment we met Kate, I wasn't sure how this series was going to work out. From her being a journalist, wanting to air out the crimes of Wilmington, to her stepbrothers and their friends being some sort of dark vigilanties.
At the end of book two, there was a lot happening. I cheered, but I was also super worried about what would happen next. I love that Kate wants to help them solve something that's been haunting them forever. There's one part where it just clicked and I knew that is the direction it was going.
I am going to miss this group, but I hope these two authors write more together! Family Confessions has become a favorite of mine!
What a finale! Loved this series from the beginning and it gets better and better. I’d sell my soul for Jack Davenport! The darkness and depravity are amazing and so good. Watching the shift in the men is incredible, you see them change and grow! Katie is a bad•ss as always.
Final book of the series, and if at all possible, even darker than the others. Trigger warnings for those of a delicate nature. Violence, non con, abuse. Plus others
This is a the third and final part of a very twisted story. My first thought was, and still is, actually a warning to other readers. This story contains a lot of material that will definitely trigger some people. There were moments throughout that I had to take a break from all the craziness. If you are going to read this, be aware that this is not a HEA type story, well sorta but not completely. Not the sweet loving all is sunshine and rainbows type HEA anyway. This is a raw, gritty, danger-filled, traumatic, scary story filled with so much sin that you will probably never be the same after reading it. There are parts that angered me, confused and maybe even traumatized me a bit.
Having said all that, I admit there were some parts that were very interesting. I like that, even with everything Kate had to endure throughout, she managed to find a way through it all. Her tomentors are now her lovers, her protectors, hewr teachers in more than pain and pleasure. Now they are her teachers in survival and they hunt. They still get their kicks out of pushing her limits, and there are still a few moments when that goes too far, but each of them have grown to like/love her in some way. Davis, I think, is the last to acnowledge or accept his feelings for her. Jack recognizes them, but he struggles with to the very end. Davis doesn't truly realize the depth of his feeling until he goes too far with his punishments.
It was interesting, and sometimes unsettling, to watch what Katie had to endure and give up, but it was interesting to see how each character changed throughout the story, how they evolved.
In the third part of the story Katie learns that being a Davenport is much more important to her than she thought. After surviving the attack of Watkins, she decides she must solves the murder of her stepbrothers' mother to set them free. Each member of the group deals with their own trials throughout the story and this books shows the culmination of those trials and the end result of what each person what willing to do, how far they were willing to go to make it safely through the minfields of their lives.
Again, I caution anyone who is going to read this to be aware that this story contains a lot of material that will be triggering for some. It raw, gritty, brutal and sometimes I had to take a break to recoup from the feelings it caused in me.
The Binder is finally dead — and by Kate’s hand. And now that she has a taste for vengeance she wants more. She wants to help the guys solve their mom’s murder once and for all.
But as they re-open their mom’s murder case, things are closing in. The FBI seems to be on their tail, someone is spying on Paul’s therapy sessions with Kate, and there’s just some fishy things going on all around.
This final mission is one that can either bring them irrevocably closer or tear them apart for good.
I liked this one for the most part. It was definitely entertaining and the pacing was perfect.
The murderer was predictable (in my opinion). I called it in the last book who it was and felt that Kate was a little bit oblivious about it. She’s still not the smartest cookie, but she’s not the most annoying heroine either so it’s okay I guess.
I will say I felt the harem wasn’t even though. We hardly ever learn about Davis’ history and her interactions with him and Paul were a lot less than with Jack and Oliver.
Still, I enjoyed the story and flew through these books. They are very gripping and fast paced, which I loved.
I was hoping to see some better wrapping up as far as the FBI and their investigation into them goes. This was really just left hanging and I wanted to know how it panned out.
Also I was disappointed with the epilogue. I got the point — to show us that they are continuing their vigilante ways. But at the same time I really would’ve rather had a happy sexy epilogue with all the guys since we didn’t get a single steamy scene with all of them together (usually only one on one, or two on one).
And I was hoping for m/m! The first book mentioned Davis and Paul having “helped each other out” during a group jerk off session and it made it seem like more like that was to come. So that was disappointing.
Still, overall the series was dark, entertaining, and sexy. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for those who like truly dark RH’s and who don’t have any triggers.

Thrilling Conclusion to a Dark and Twisted Series! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
OMG, what a thrill! Saved by My Stepbrothers by A.K. Rose & Angel Lawson is the gripping finale to a dark and twisted trilogy that will leave you on the edge of your seat. This book took me on a wild ride that I won't soon forget.
First things first, let me warn you: before diving into this intense read, take a moment to acknowledge the trigger warnings. This book delves into dark, depraved, and thrilling horror that is not suitable for everyone.
The storyline is a rollercoaster of emotions, with a bunch of vigilantes hunting down very bad men. It's messed up in all the right ways for fans of crime stories. Without giving too much away, let's just say that the ending was perfect, albeit bittersweet because I didn't want it to end at all.
In Saved by My Stepbrothers, Katie, our protagonist, navigates a world of danger and darkness to save her stepbrothers and their friends from a life of hunting. As she digs into the past to solve a murder, she uncovers secrets about the Davenport family that could shatter everything. The suspense and tension build up brilliantly, keeping you glued to the pages.
What I loved most about this book is how Katie evolves, learning to harness her inner darkness with the help of her guys, and finally accepting her place among them. The character development is top-notch, making you root for them even in the darkest of times.
Overall, if you're into dark and thrilling reads with a touch of romance, then Saved by My Stepbrothers is a must-read. Just be prepared for a wild ride filled with twists, turns, and a satisfying conclusion that will leave you breathless. I give it 4 stars and a heat level of 5 for its intense and captivating storytelling.
WHAT AN ENDING! 👏🏻 Holy fuck this series was nuts. I’m a true crime connoisseur so I knew I’d devour this. The plot twists, murder, revenge, kinkiness, forbidden love, group activities—bloody & spicy, hunting, and so much more! Those men are 100% my kinda crazy. Goddamn. Davis is my least favourite, I wanted to punch him in the dick multiple times. The other three were alphaholes while Davis was just straight up ASSHOLE. I’m super proud of Katie for putting him in his place. She stood toe to toe with him and told her exactly what she wanted him to do to make up for his asshole actions. Paul was definitely Jekyll & Hyde. He would cause pain (sexually) and then go overboard on aftercare. The perfect mix of naughty and nice, bad and good. He’d give into his and Kate’s darkest desires and then love and dote on her. He never failed to take care of her and make sure she was safe and okay. #swooooon Katie grew on me. In the beginning she drove me nuts, I believed that she was weak and naive. But man did she blossom—her character growth was nothing short of phenomenal. Oliver and Jack own my heart. They went through hell and came out the other side swinging their weapons like there was no tomorrow. My sweet, broken boys. Their pain is unimaginable; the grief, anger, loss, abandonment and fear. After all of that pain, it was beautiful to see Kate avenge their mother’s death. Kate did everything she could to prove to not only Oliver and Jake but Paul and Davis too, that she would fight, come hell or high water for them. She would avenge their pain, she would right the wrongs, she would heal the broken parts of them. Their love was so powerful, it flew off of the pages; it shook me to the core.
Everything was doing just fine until Katie got assaulted by Davis (again) and he went overboard this time. With a freaking baton, really? And then Katie had to go all stockholm syndrome where she justified that assault as her fault. She even went as far as convincing herself that he cared and that he was under a lot of pressure. Like, really? Seriously? This Katie whom fought against her stepbrothers and their mean friends in earlier books. What has happened to her? I was so appalled and disgusted reading that scene and it took me THAT much effort to keep reading until the end. Davis had the nerve to say “I broke Katherine down because we needed her strong.” Oh sure, by sexually assaulting her with f*cking baton. What kind of a deranged reason is that?!
“For some sick f*cking reason, Katie puts you above her own f*cking pain. She f*cking worried about and not the f*cking beating you have her. Let that sink in.”
Jack is so real for this. He was Katie’s most fearsome bully and tormentor but I love his character’s growth so much.
Also the little clues given throughout the story as to hints to the stepbrothers’ killer was so obvious, it made the reveal at the end was so… meh. The only reason why this is still getting 4 stars instead one 1 was because of everything else. From Jack to Oliver and Paul. And also the sex scenes were very spicyyyy. Some of them should make feel morbid and weirded out but they don’t because they were very well written.

An Ingenious Mystery: Twists, Turns, and Secrets Revealed
Some books hook you, but this one completely immerses you. While the twists kept me on my toes, the antagonist's subtle slip-ups gave away their identity earlier than I’d hoped. Ingeniously, they were hiding in plain sight, and even though I guessed it, the reveal was still satisfying.
Kate, Jack, Oliver, Paul, and Davis’s evolving dynamic is a standout. Their complex relationships deepen as they continue hunting for the person behind Jack and Oliver’s mother’s death. The tension skyrockets after Kate’s injury during a confrontation with a killer she framed Jack over. Watching the guys help Kate confront her darkness and find freedom was raw and deeply emotional.
This third book is noticeably longer than the previous two, but the extra pages allow for more intricate character development and a richer plot. I appreciated the author taking time to unravel each thread of the story. However, some parts could have been tighter to maintain the pacing.
4.5 stars! A thrilling, emotional rollercoaster with clever twists and deep character arcs. If you love complex mysteries with emotional stakes, this is for you.
Unfortunately, I had a strong suspicion of who the murderer was in book 2. I really don't understand what all the fuss is about getting together with a step sibling. I don't believe sleeping/marrying a stepsibling is 'Scandalous!' unless they grew up together (from an early age) & have thought of each other as brother/sister. Otherwise, it's just a bit strange, & who cares if people think that. Nothing wrong with strange. But I understand that in some overly repressive circles, it is considered a 'taboo' - But in those circles, nearly everything is & often the upper echelon is doing it & a lot worse ie break laws. The only issue, as I see it, is the awkwardness of having to keep seeing each other at family occasions/events, etc, if it doesn't work out, but that can be sorted with time. Nevertheless, I don't think calling each other brother/sister or stepbrother/stepsister is sexy at all. Defining the relationship in those terms makes it seem incestuous, which it isn't & is very off-putting. I also don't like women calling their male partners 'daddy' (or 'zaddy') it really weirds me out.
This last part of A.K. Rose and Angel Lawson's Amazon/ Kindle Vella Trilogy is a great finish. I really enjoyed Katie's story with her two step-brothers and their two friends. The episode-nature style of the books made them very fast to read and kept me engaged in the story. A.K. Rose and Angel Lawson also told this Why-Choose-Series with a nice Whodunit-substory that gets resolved in this last book. Katie's relationship and confrontations with each of her guys is well-developed and exciting and I couldn't pick a favorite among them. The dynamics between the guys is also well-thought through. Although I have to say that I feel that four guys is maybe one too many to give each of them justice in each book. While Davis fell short for me in the second book, in this third book it is Oliver who falls a little behind the others. But I also can't suggest how to reduce the story to just three guys. Anyway, I could, could see a new book in the series about some mystery about that Marcus-guy and his manor from book 2, but we'll see.
Try as I might, I couldn’t weed this quote down. Because the realization Davis has - when it finally hits him - is my favorite.
“If she never wants you to touch her again, then that’s what will happen. If she wants you on your fucking knees every goddamn day for her, then that’s what will happen. For some sick fucking reason, Katie puts you above her own fucking pain. She’s fucking worried about you and not the fucking beating you gave her. Let that sink in.” “Jesus,” Davis whispers as his brow furrows. Jack shoves him back. “Yeah. Jesus.”
I mean, it’s the last book, so the guys have to make some changes but how Jack says it and how Davis responds, I love it so much. This book pulls everything together and if you were paying attention, you knew who the big bad was. The way it played out though, I enjoyed it. Solid series with some solidly jacked up characters.
I feel like this could have been a million time better somehow? This will have some spoilers so if you havent read it yet, turn away.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
It was fairly obvious that AK Rose had set it up for the audience that Pauls dad was the psycho killer and with katherine digging i really thought she would uncover the truth all on her own, but she kept ignoring the signs with the climax having pauls dad take matters into his own hands before katie could figure it out, it just felt like such a waste of opportunity. Wouldve have been far more interesting if she had uncovered the truth and then been taking hostage by the dad, but to go out from eating fucking cookies from a creepy doctor was ...dare i say laaaaaame.
The whole ending just felt rushed, epilogue was just okay....theyre now basically the Winchesters.
I cant help feel slightly disapointed. The smut however was pretty excellant which is why im giving it a decent score.
I… don’t even know what to say? This was unhinged on so many levels, so wrong, so dark and depraved and GOOD. It bordered the line between dark and reaaaaaallly freakin’ wrong, walking that line so perfectly it had me in a chokehold. There was just so much happening, and Katie by the end was freakin’ badass. The guys having their own relationship evolve with her, rather than just as a unit was amazing, and we got to see them flourish together and apart.
Jack is my favourite, his love so unshackled and uncontrolled. He is the embodiment of what I look for when I read dark romance , barely controlled but caring for his woman. Ollie, Paul and Davis also stole pieces of me, and their unbridled love and loyalty to each other was almost suffocating, but at the same time enthralling.
Though short, this trilogy was absolutely worth staying up for. Though, anything by these authors will probably keep me up all night.

📚 Just finished Saved by My Stepbrothers by A.K. Rose & Angel Lawson — and wow. This dark, spicy, taboo-filled reverse harem absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible. From Davis’s heartbreaking choices to Katie’s rise as a full-on queen, this book had me hooked from start to finish. Five skulls, five chili peppers, and five black hearts for the pure devotion, pain, and power this story delivers. If you’re into feral love, morally gray heroes, and found-family dynamics that defy norms—run, don’t walk.
A very good final instalment to Katie and her boys’ story. I had the killer sussed about half way through, so I wasn’t hugely surprised by the reveal in the end. I enjoyed this one a lot and liked seeing Katie get stronger and fight for herself and the lads. Jackson Davenport holds my whole heart and I won’t be take any questions at this time.
Spice was ✨exquisite✨ although I’ve come to enjoy group scenes in RH/why choose, and this was missing that. I also wanted a little more from the epilogue. I kinda wanted just a funny/sweeter ending BUT it wouldn’t have fit right for the Davenports and their friends, so I get the epilogue being what it was.
Overall, really good finale, and really enjoyed this trilogy.
I liked the series but unfortunately, I wasn't crazy about the ending. The same theme was in all three books, a serial killer, hunting and baiting to catch him. Dispose of the body and clean up the blood and gore. Throw in a few locals who are assaulting women or children. Take them out as well. Then have sex to celebrate. There's not too many confessions. Katie, Jack, Oliver, Paul and Davis have been cleaning up the city of Wilmington for years. The story rolls along in the same predictable pattern in all the books but the ending, the last chapter might have been over the top. Angel and AK write very good stories. I just didn't agree with the ending.
Wow this was a wild and rough ride. We have psychotic murderers. Non con, dub con...I mean u get the picture. Definitely read the triggers cause this one was darrkkkk. This book was amazing. I loved the evolution of the rest of the relationship even tho I wish there was a little more with davis. In the end the the villain was who I thought it would be. I was a little perturbed that jack lost faith a bit but in the end it was a good story. Super hot and kinky steamy. If you like pitch stories with kinky steam with violence, murder and mystery then this is for you!
This is the end of a very dark taboo series. In this book the brothers showed their true feelings toward Kate, they took care of her after the incident, and she in return found out about the killer. Their relationship was pretty tamed here, mostly focused on giving her pleasure the only way they knew. There were moments when the guys had vulnerable moments and Kate seemed to be more in charge. Even though I had figured out who the killer was the reason behind it was definitely a surprise for me.
I am glad I got to read this series and I'm gonna miss Jack and Kate. I will rate it with 4 stars.
Steamy, fun, the perfect conclusion, tho slightly predictable but whatever I had a fun time. I feel like these three books could’ve just been one big one and it would’ve worked better, but I understand the cliffhangers needed to happen the way that they did.
Overall, this was pretty good! I enjoyed learning to like most of the characters and the way the story blossomed into what it became. Every spice scene is hot as hell so that was wonderful.
A fun, quick, psychotic trilogy. A little surface level for my tastes but alas, I enjoyed it besides my personal preferences.
I have been waiting rather impatiently for this book and it did not disappoint! I admit, there were a few minutes there that I thought the end was near but as always, that hard right turn left me with my head spinning from that twist! I can only hope that Angel and Atlas may decide at some point to take pity on those of us obsessed with all things Wilmington and Davenport and give us more from our favorite serial killers. Until then, I will reread these three until I can recite them word for word.
Kate killed the binder after he attacked her at the manner. The guys take care of it but she suffered greatly. Derek, the family physician, comes to take care of her with the help of her step brothers. After a couple of days, she convinces the guys to let her help them look into the murder of her step brothers mother. She finds out new things while also improving her relationship with the guys. This book does give them a HEA and I was happy to have read this series.
I endured all 3 books in this series in hopes of it getting better. The storyline had so much potential. The idea was great. Execution not so much. If I had a do over, I honestly would have skipped the whole series. The spicy scenes weren't even spicy. It seemed as if they were all 2 pump chumps, and I accidentally skimmed at least 2 scenes and barely noticed. The plot holes and overall lack of depth just kinda brought it down for me. It wasn't the worst but definitely not the best.
The final book in the series and this was relatively softer than the earlier two only because Katie was recovering from being injured and also the relationship has changed somewhat. That doesn’t mean there aren’t spicy scenes or darkness because those definitely still occur.
One of the main themes for book 3 is betrayal and I thought it was portrayed really well. Questioning each others motives as well as the big finale that showed the true depths of darkness that had happened at Davenport Manor.
WOW... I loved this series from the beginning and it gets better and better. I love Jack Davenport! The darkness and depravity in this book are amazing and so good. At the end of book two, a lot was happening, I love that Kate helps them solve something that's been haunting them forever. I already know who the killer was about halfway through the second book, so I wasn’t hugely surprised by the reveal in the end. I enjoyed this one a lot and liked seeing Katie get stronger and fight for herself and the lads.
This was ok. I’m glad I finished the series but the first book was by far the best. I feel like some parts just drug out to much or just didn’t fit. I wanted more of the spice between the 5 of them and there just wasn’t enough. If you read the first book I’d definitely say finish the series but this took way longer to read than normal for me. I’ve read several other by this author and absolutely loved them, this one had potential with maybe a bit more editing.
