I thought entering the Elven Games would be the best way to free my father from his Fae prison… Turns out, someone else already signed me up, and I can’t refuse to play, even if I wanted to. Whoever it is, wants me dead, and they're not fighting fair. With a lost prince, a cocky Elf, a dominant Phoenix that I love making burst into flames, and a crazy murder snake that's definitely stalking me, I might survive… Maybe. Probably. Well, hopefully. The last thing I expect on top of all the other drama, is to have men fighting over who my true mate is. Apparently I’m Heart Bonded to all of them. Just when I think I’m figuring things out, the man I've called father for 25 years might not be who I thought he was… and I might be something more than just a Witch…. Why choose Romance, 8 plus love interests, light hearted read.
Kira Roman is a Mom of two monsters, she loves reading, and naps. She loves food, and The Office. She loves gloomy, rainy days. Naps, did I mention naps? She loves naps. And food. All the food.
This book is just all over the place. The pacing was so jarring.
It feels rushed, as if the author thinks I should already be invested in the characters despite no groundwork having been done to make me care about any of them 😅
No rating as I didn’t make it through the majority of it 🤷🏻♀️
A book that’s got gaming, paranormal creatures, Hunger Games vibes but also RH? Let me say, I was ridiculously excited to read this book. It sounded so cool!
I know, it sounds like I’m going to go, “yeah, well that didn’t work out…” But I did like the book. The plot concept is unique, but it was a bit too fast paced for my taste. If it was expanded upon a bit more, scenes drawn out and detailed, making this book closer to full length… then it’d be spectacular. One thing that bugged me was Moon’s mom telling her something pretty heavy and we don’t even get a scene with her trying to process that information. Just moves right on to the next event.
I was also confused sometimes with the hopping around between characters, and even after finishing the book, I still don’t have an absolute clear idea on who is in the harem.
I did enjoy Moon’s unfiltered snark. And the mystery and intrigue about heart mates, and what she is exactly is definitely a plus.
3.5⭐️ My brain is dizzy from the book, and I’m even more confused with that cliffhanger, but I’m gonna read the next one to see if I can make sense of things lol.
3.4 stars. Well. That was a little bit more of a jumbled stream of conscious rather than a fully coherent book, but, it was still kind of fun. There’s a Lot going on. Plus, Moon is not as good at the trials as she led on, it’s kind disappointing. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s not as good as I was hoping, but I’m along for the ride for now, so hopefully it gets better.
So I’m to believe this chick spent 20 years training for this elite game and is basically useless and has done zero research, into herself or the other races?!?
She’s snarky, funny, and sex positive - but a badass? No. She’s more interested in smutty smut than what’s actually going on around her.
The game serves as a blip in the background with no real details or understanding of what’s going on. Which is a shame.
This looks to be a 4 book series, which would be fine except it just cuts off randomly in book one and likely will in the following books. So it’s really 2 books cut in half twice, and that had such a negative effect on my reading experience.
I’m still going to read the next book. It’s trash, but if you lower your expectations down real real low, it’s kinda fun trash.
*SPOILERS AHEAD* But spoilers I wish I knew before picking this series up. I did finish the series. It was hard to finish. Took a while too. This became a book series you read when there is absolutely nothing for you to do. Like sitting in the DMV waiting on your ticket to be called. Book one started out very interesting. It catches your attention. The world building was interesting and getting to know the protagonist was fun. I liked the pacing. Gets right into the action and plot line. There is plenty of humor and I liked how Moon, our protagonist, is spunky and her inner monologue is amusing. Once she enters "The Games" this series goes down hill fast. It's beyond frustrating. How an author portrays a female as being bad ass and she is not. She gets rescued and passes out so much it became amusing just to see how long it would take for her to be rescued or pass out again. Then she starts collecting mates like a starving kid in a candy store with an unlimited credit card. 11 mates. Really? If I had read in reviews that she had 11 mates I wouldn't have even picked this series up. With how short each book is and with only 4 books in the series, it would have been obvious to me that there absolutely couldn't be any relationship building. So it's insta love with 11 mates. It got so confusing trying to remember who each mate was with no distinguishing characteristics to help out. Except the crazy one who would try and kill her because he forgets who she is. THAT whole relationship was funny. Oh and these mates are supposed to be super strong. The strongest of the species. Yeah....except when they need to be. It was a complete hot mess. Every minion of the "evil" queen, that the author blows up in our heads to be so scary, ends up being a joke. Seriously. They don't even fight back. They just roll over and die. No big battles. Just nothing. When they finally meet up to take down the evil queen, it's so anticlimactic I was shocked. Just like WOW. This author could be a best seller one day with her imagination and humor. She just has to learn to reel in all the ideas and take the time to flesh out the ideas she does have. I could go on and on about the total immaturity of this author as an author. Maybe this is her first attempt at writing a book? I don't know. All I do know is she needs some real friends to read her books, friends who read a lot, and who will be honest with her about the quality of her books. She has amazing potential.
*The Elven Tournament of Blood, is held every ten years in the Elven Realm. When Moon was 15 years old her father was in sent to Fae prison, he told her she needs to enter the games, she needs the Elven crystals to free him. 10 years later, she goes to sign up for the Elven games but finds out her Ex Spencer and his current gf are signed up. When she goes to sign up, she finds out someone already signed her up. She meets all her mates but 2 inside the games. They all protect her, even if she doesn't realize some are her mates. She says she's been training for this since she was 5 yrs old, but gets hurt constantly.

This book was totally ridiculous, but absolutely delightful. Moon, our MFC, has been preparing her whole life to compete in the fae games to save her "father", however, the book is really centered around her finding a butt load of fated mates and them protecting her from herself.
My only big *wtf* was the fact that we are told she's been preparing for the fae games, but not once during the games does she do anything, anything at all, that indicates this is true. She seems to have no skills whatsoever and the only way she is advancing is because her guys are doing the tasks for her. (There is some indication that her magic is on the fritz, but I think this should have been made more apparent)
This character has ostensibly been training to compete in these games for 20 years, and It's a short book, and it really feels like it. It does not feel like I've read a complete novel (or even novella).
3.5 stars Interesting story but the pacing is weird. Things weren't flushed out properly and left me confused in the beginning. Once the games started, it went from 0 to 100.
I hate that she passed out constantly and for someone who had been training since they were 5 years old to join the games, you'd think she would be stronger or have done more research. She was pretty useless if I'm being honest.
All the characters feel like they are younger than they are. I don't know, they are all 25-30 year-olds but act and talk like teens.
I will continue the series because I want to know what happens but I hope the world-building and pacing get better.
I tought she was gonna be like really badass since she has been training all her life an all of that. I usually would get really disapointed that she needs "saving" all the time and is trated like a glass all the time BUT somehow she doesn't feel usuless. I had some good laughs with her despite off it all. And kind of get it that she is having to be saved all the time since her magic is fucked up since she removed the cristal, just hope in the next book we will see some more of her badass side. With her having so many mates is easy to get lost in it all and have some characters with the same personality but, to my surprise, I can tell they apart and actually like them. I'm really exited to find out her "new form" ou power or whatever she is, since all her mates are so different and so powerfull you expect her to be fucking amazing, but it will be hard to achive the expectations since she has such a diverse harem, maybe she will just fall flat, but I hope not. To summon it all, if u had told me that's how the story wold unfold I probably would not read, but it really surprised me, allot. Also LOVE that there is no MM, when the FL has more than 4 love interests the series ALWAYS has some, it's the first I have found where it doesn't (no problem with it, I just don't get all the hype).
So this would be better if it was longer and you didn't have all these names thrown at you. It would also help if their wasn't so much skipping around. Very confusing and hard to stay in the story.
The Witchy Games series is Kira Roman's latest series and it kicks off with Game Over. The story is a multiple perspective rh fantasy filled with humor, all kinds of supes, super hot guys, and one spunky mfc.
Moonlight who goes by Moon (but her real name is a mouth full) is the best. Quirky doesn't begin to describe her. Moon is a professional gamer for a living with a loud and bright personality. She has a great sense of humor, is inappropriate at times, and is most definitely a motor mouth that says the wrong things when she feels awkward. On the flip side of that, she also has confidence. I like her a lot and I can't wait to see what other situations she gets herself into.
So there are supposed to be eight-plus guys in this rh. So far we've met eight plus. All the guys seem powerful and confident and are important so that looks like trouble is coming. With everything going on I didn't get a lot from them what I did see was that their personalities vary as well as the type of supernatural they are. While attitude is abound some are broody while others share in Moon's playful personality and snarky attitude. One thing is for sure they are gonna keep her on her toes. Forewarned there are at least two psychos on the team and of course, I like them, a lot. This was a slow burn, it doesn't go past some intense making out but from the looks of things, it looks like things will be heating up fairly soon.
This plot was good, and while the deadly tournament aspect was good but it was the attempt of murder and discovery of mates that build the story. Speaking of mates, I love that these series have cool mate marks that I picture as tattoos. Getting the backstory of some of the mates and knowing that there are multiple realms (this story doesn't even take place in the human realm) helps build the world by showing the political atmosphere, how people are connected, culture, and more. There's a story but I don't know where it's going. Kira is an unknown, a curse is involved, shady parents are about, evil royals are up to no good, multiple assassination attempts, and so many connections. The bigger picture has yet to be pulled together and I'm trying to piece things together and now I'm hooked.
Kira has a new fan in me. Game Over was the best, I've never had a better time. It was a fun read that had me chuckling throughout the story and it kept me guessing. I have no idea where the plot is going but I'm here for it, ready and waiting for the next book.
Please note that the following review is for the SERIES, not each individual book. I do my best to not include spoilers in my reviews. Where appropriate, I do include content warnings.
Wasn't really sure what to expect from Kira Roman's series, Witchy Games. I saw a recommendation for it on Facebook while hunting down romance novels with a leading female hacker. What I found was an incredibly entertaining girl gamer geek. It was exactly what I didn't know was missing in my library.
Witchy Games is the story of Aphrodite Moonlight Blossom Hart (Moon)'s story, along with her 11 fated mates. It is a captivating blend of humor, action, romance, and smut - all tangled up like the yarn my kitten dug out of my knitting bag. A knot that you cannot help but unravel, one word at a time.
Fated mates, unknown identities, life or death situations, evil rulers who do evil deeds, prison breaks, and a heroine who is a hit mess. She's more clumsy than I am and has absolutely no filter. At all. Zip. Zilch. Nada. The things she comes up with ... it's a recipe for chaotic comedy. You won't find enemies being turned into a bag of "Richards" just hanging around.
But don't forget about the smut. Its a slow build, slow burn series, but once it kicks off ... 11 mates to see to her every whim .... Some girls have all the luck. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
I was engrossed in the story from chapter one, and I'm sure you will be too.
Game Over by Kira Roman is a really good book that has a large harem, is light hearted and has a uniqueness that I haven’t seen before. Seriously though, there is a female who is a major video gamer and whose father was taken away from her at a young age. As he was being hauled away, he told her to set him free, she would need to complete and win the Eleven Games. This female’s name is Moon and do not dare say her whole name. Lol. She is a sassy, fun, determined and strong willed female. Pretty much she is an unfiltered person and what’s not to love about that? We get to follow her on her journey as she trains and completes in the Eleven Games with one goal in mind, to set her father free. Within the first book we get to meet a couple of her Hearted Bonded. Let me tell you… They do not disappoint. Of course, our girl has given them some interesting nicknames. For example: Murder Noodle, Lying Baboon, Danger Lizard, and a Mysterious Pebble Fairy. They do everything they can to protect her. Unfortunately, not everything seems to be what it is supposed to be. So many questions left unanswered. Who is she? Is her father who he says he is? So many questions that need to be answered and identities that need to be unmasked. I can not wait for the next book, I need answers now!
I didn't know what sort of book I was getting myself into, until I started reading this. And I have to say-HOLYSHIT!!
Game Over is filled with a spunky fmc and hot, hot guys. Moonlight-the fmc- is a video gamer and her father was captured and put into the fae prison when she was young. Her mother abandoned her too. Before his capture, he gives her a necklace and tells her to free him by entering into the Elven Games when she grows older. So naturally she does that; but finds out that all that glitters is not gold. Her mother really didn't abandon her, but was protecting her instead. When she enters the trials, she finds out that someone is trying to kill her.
The cherry on the top is the fact that she's bonded to more than one man. I honestly couldn't keep up with all the guys- Arlo, Lust, Crow, Fenrick, Cato, Odas, Silas, Tristan, Daire- don't know if I missed any. I'm not sure if Kilin is a bonded, but we'll find that out later I guess.
Though the storyline is good, some of the problems I faced was that the world building was not explained clearly, atleast to me. It took some time to adjust with junping from one pov to another.
But all in all, Game Over by Kira Roman is a fantastic read and I'll be sure to check out the second installment in the series.

"Apparently, my body's response to being threatened is to be horny as fuck."
I really didn't know what to expect from this book, clicking on it was a "spur of the moment" kind of thing, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. Game Over is one of those books where you should just relax and not overthink things. It has a bit of a crazy storyline with an fmc who is unapologetically herself and a big a lack of brain-to-mouth filter. I believe I just kept on smiling while reading this book, because I really enjoyed all the things that came out of her mouth.
There are a lot of characters that are introduced, all with their own species, characteristics and connections between them. At first I tried really hard to remember all those details, but then I started to lose touch with the story and I started to have an even harder time to get things straight. The moment I decided to let it all go and just enjoy the storyline, I enjoyed it a lot more and I'm pretty sure I still remember most of the characters at the end. So a friendly word of advice: just enjoy the book and try not to think about things too hard. I'm pretty sure you'll love it when you do.
Not gonna lie this book almost lost me in the beginning. It was almost a DNF. But i pushed forward & im glad i did. Once we got to the actual game it got entertaining.
The beginning of the book i was very confused. I had no dea what kinda “game” she was signing up for. I really thought it was a video game from the fact that she is a professional gamer (i think) But turns out it’s an in person series of different games/survival. The beginning of the book also felt like we were being given so much yet so little information. Like lots of characters but little descriptions or info about much else.
now don’t get me wrong the book did pick up (in the game) and i was absolutely enjoying it. I lovee large why choose groups so i’m very excited. & so far all the guys are easy to tell apart with very different personalities. Which i think is amazing considering how many there are, i know that’s not something easily done. Also the FMC seems very sex positive and fun which is always a plus in my book. i’m definitely very excited to see what happens in the next book!☺️🫶🏼
I gave this book 3 stars because it was a middle ground for me. I did think it was good but it felt super crammed and fast paced, like slow down and give me details of the scene not fly through it and oh she is having an orgasm. I was alittle disappointed on that. I also found I was disappointed with not getting to know the characters like seeing them develop and learning each of the personalities. However this is the first book and I truly believe the author was trying to set up the series so the world was just taking shape. I know the story line is good and I absolutely love the charcter Moon. She is a badass, quirky mouthy chicken that makes me laugh....out loud...Definitely a plus. Scratch that the character deserves five stars. I know I am into the book because I already downloaded two. The plot itself is not revealing and that makes it a mystery to what's going to happen with moon in her...three...no I mean fourr.. wait maybe more...men. All in all it was a good book.
Frankly, that story felt like it was straight out of Wattpad. The formula seemed to be:
Disregarded worldbuilding entirely, threw in every imaginable character and sprinkled in some random fantasy and steamy scenes. Then multiplied it all by eight, tossed in a clueless and purposeless main character, and added some arbitrary trial/game/race element. Made sure the main character lacked any coherent protagonism. I mean, come on, she waited for 15 plus years for this and never questioned or made any effort to even study for the thing, not to mention the POVs were all about the guys. Then, had everyone inexplicably accept whatever happened without question. Oh, and a dash of family drama was necessary, only to be promptly forgotten by the main character until it was convenient to remember later. Sometimes the story got a bit burnt, especially when it wasn't prepared for the heat it received, despite the recipe calling for a different oven altogether.
Overall, it felt like a messy concoction lacking in substance.
I wouldn’t quite give this a full 3 stars but I’m rounding up solely because I did have fun reading it.
So I really wanted to love this book. I am a big fan of game/tournament related plots so I was really intrigued by the concept. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t executed all that well. It was far too short to cover all that needed to be covered. The pace was lightning fast and moved from plot point to plot point with no meat in between. There are also 8 men in this RH and there just isn’t enough room within this ~160 page book for all of them. Because of how much is crammed into so few pages and with very little details to flesh out the characters and the world, I just don’t care about any of them and got the men mixed up frequently.
On a positive note, it was quite entertaining and with a little more time/development Moon could be a super great FMC.
I will definitely read the next book as a light “junk food” snack when it comes out soon.
Needless to say, this was a waste of my evening. About halfway through, I was getting whiplash from every chapter. I decide to go to Goodreads to see if it was worth my time, glanced and saw a bunch of 5 and 4 star reviews, so I persisted thinking it would get better and be more cohesive. It did not.
To be blunt, the plot is: terrible sex jokes, kidnapping at every other chapter, and terrible one liners from the FMC. The games are a ploy to make you think there is a plot, when none really exists. The world building is abysmal, and you can’t even form a connection to any of the characters because it goes from one persons POV to another, and then she’s being kidnapped again, and then another POV and it’s just a never ending cycle. This may be literally one of the worst books I’ve ever read.
If you’re considering reading this series, heed my warning, you will want to bash your head against a wall up until the very end.
Kira Roman is a new to me author, and is now on my list of favorites. I loved this book. this was such and interesting world. I love urban fantasy and Game Over was a very unique take on that. I Really like that even though Moon is competing in a game, the games are not the main focus of the story. There is a lot of mysteries that we need to unravel like why is her father in jail, why does she have so many heart bonds, what happened to her magic, who is after her? The guys are all great too, I think they are different enough that they are distinct from each other but their main focus and goal is similar enough to keep the story cohesive. I tried to read this book in one sitting but I started it too late in the evening, so if you do not want to sacrifice sleep like I did be sure to start reading early in the day and plan nothing.
Game Over by the lovely Kira Roman, is a light hearted, large harem, why choose romance book in the Witchy Games Series.
We follow Moon (wouldn’t dare say her whole name lol) and her unfiltered sassy self, as she prepares for and takes on the Eleven Games. We get to meet a handful (or 2) of her Heart Bonded along the way, including a Murder Noodle, Lying Baboon, Danger Lizard, and a Mysterious Pebble Fairy. Let’s just say Moon has a way with nicknames.
We get to watch them do everything they can to protect her, as Moon realizes everything isn’t what it seems. Is her father who he says he is? Does she even know who SHE is? There are so many mysteries that need to be solved, and identities that need to be unmasked! I can’t wait to see what unravels in the next book!
"Welcome to the Eleven Tournament of Blood." Moon is our main character, well that is the name she goes by as she will threaten to kill anyone that uses her actual first name! When Moon was a child her father was arrested and her mother upped and left leaving Moon to be raised by her Grandmother. As he was arrested her father whispered to her that she must enter the Elven games as the crystals would free him. The games are held only every 10 years and not everyone that enters comes out alive ... This is the best book I have read this year! Ok, I know it is only January but I have already read several, it is honestly really good. I fell in love with all the characters, the storyline sucked me in instantly and I have a burning need to know what happens next. If you like snarky heroines, LOTS of hot men and fast paced storylines interwoven with humour this is a book for you!
I am so disappointed. This book is filled with elements that I love; an interesting world, trials, magical mate marks, fated mates, an animal companion, a huge harem and a mystery surrounding the main female character. Unfortunately, there aren't enough pages to develop any of it in a satisfying way. I was really looking forward to reading about a kick butt heroine who dominates the trials after training for them for 20 years but instead got an oblivious character who spends the entire time being kidnapped, saved and passing out. I am a reader that craves well fleshed out characters and rich world building so if I had realized this story was novella length, I wouldn't have read it. I do think this idea would make a phenomenal 400 to 600 page book, however. For those who want a fast read with a fun premise, I encourage you to give this one a read.
Wow, this cover is gorgeous. Nerdy me was all in, but quickly, it's realized this book is not laid out well. The FMC is going to have a lot of mates. Unfortunately, there's no thought put into how the world and characters are introduced they're just dumped one after another after another after another after another X a lot more another's. They also just all steal her, it was soooooo repetitive, and by the end, I wanted to rage quit
Having a detailed magical world and a lot of mates aren't an issue but throwing them all in without any care being put into actually developing the story and the characters is. Also, this book is shooooort for trying to introduce some grand fantasy world and 50 million mates. The book only took me an hour or so to read. So this is a 'not continuing' for me.
Down the rabbit hole I suppose. I have a lot of thoughts about this book. It really should be 2* for the issues in the writing style... But... I also found it endearing.
If you take away the "over caffeinated" characterisation, it is really about a girl trying to get her happy back, any way she can. Even her flat reads like a teen bedroom. The men are boys she likes at school, there is no depth there... It's like a little girl still wanting her childhood back.
The good bits... Obviously she's not just a witch so yes I would like to know what she is. Her life has more to it than she thinks. The trend is, the more mates the more powerful. So this is going to get good....... right????
Well as long as she stops passing out and running....
What happened to training for the game's??? Our girl has done nothing!!
