Saved by Her Bear is book three in the Black Ridge Bears series by Felicity Heaton. It’s a second chance romance featuring a hot tempered bear and the women who captured his heart.

Black Ridge Bears is a spin-off of the Cougar Creek Mates series which is also a spin-off of the Eternal Mates series. All are set in the same world and each series can be read as stand-alone’s.

This one features bear shifter Knox Grayson and bar owner Skye Callaghan. This novel can be read as a stand-alone. Any information from previous storylines are revealed as needed throughout the story.

The story is told in dual third person perspective. Sky and Knox meet two years ago, but after one hawt night Knox ghosted Sky. These two meet back up and what ensures is a rebuilding of trust and love.

There are a few nail bitting moments, a little action, and some very sexy scenes as the romance progress. Sky is smart and wily while Knox is the burley mountain man. The secondary characters are well developed and come out to help this couple and protect their family.

Saved by Her Bear is a fated mates second chance romance. If you enjoy a sexy bear shifter and a clever heroine then this is for you. I enjoyed the little-bit of action and all the feels we get. It was a nice read.

The heroine: Skye - when her and her brother were kids, they hung out in the parking lot of an old closed down bar and she always said she wanted to buy it and refurbish it and open it up again. After her brother died in a horrible accident for which she blames herself. She was dead set on owning that bar rather than going to college like her parents wanted for her. Now that her bar is facing financial difficulties, she decides to take the money when a customer offers to give her a bunch to be her guide through some dangerous forests in the cold.

The Hero: Knox - he is a grizzly bear shifter and is determined to keep his family safe. When he finds out that a drug lord is out in the wilderness trying to find his brother’s mate whom he thinks has his stolen money, Knox plans on stopping him. Especially after he sees that the woman guiding them, now a captive, is the woman he knows is his fated mate.

The Story: Knox used to go to Skye’s bar quite a bit and they had spent some time together. Though after a steamy, intimate night, when he discovered she was his fated mate, he ghosted her. He told himself that he didn’t want a mate, he wanted to be free, though it was really his feelings of inadequacy that drove him to stay away from Skye for the past few years. Now that he has to save her from the men that have her, they are thrown together and end up getting close.

I liked this story quite a bit. Both main characters have some issues, but they are both good people. Skye is a human and doesn’t know about shifters, so Knox has to be careful in his rescue of her. The guys that have her, have guns and though he can change to a dangerous animal, guns can still kill him. I liked how he started picking the guys off one at a time.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Elizabeth Hart and Troy Duran. Troy is one of my favorite male narrators, he has a fantastic voice and is great at using different voices for different characters. Elizabeth Hart isn’t bad, though she is not one of my favorites, there is some quality about her voice that kind of annoys me, but not too bad. It is just personal preference.

Fast forward to present day wherein, Skye’s bar is struggling, and an offer of money to act as a guide, found Skye in a mess of trouble, when she realized that the men she was helping were probably going to get her killed. As Skye begin to lead the man away from their intended target, Knox knew that to save his fated mate, he was going to have to reveal the truth about the who, how and why. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Skye and Knox, and the potential fall-out Knox fears the truth will push Skye out of his life.

The relationship between Skye and Knox is one of second chances but two years earlier Knox ghosted our heroine, believing a shifter and a human were never intended as fated mates. For two years, Skye struggled with the heart break of her one-night stand, heart break that evaporated when she realized that the two belonged to one another. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Alpha Saint and his mate (cougar shifter) Holly; Knox’s twin brother Lowe and his mate Cameo; bear shifters Rune and Maverick. The requisite evil has many faces.

SAVED BY HER BEAR is a quick read; a fast paced and intriguing story of second chances. The premise is inviting; the romance is intimate; the characters are lively and spirited.

Book three in this series, and it’s my favourite so far.
A slow burn romance with lots of fast paced action.

Knox is hunting the man that almost killed his twin brother and his newly found mate. It’s proving a little difficult! And then to top it off he sees who their guide is…..

Skye owns a bar, but it’s struggling! So when she’s offered a large amount of money to guide a group of hunters she’s quickly take them up on their offer.
But something doesn’t quite add up, a f the more time she spends with them, the more she’s convinced they aren’t who they say they are!!
She needs to cut these guys loose and get back to her bar, but that’s proving hard!!

Confirmed bachelor, no one has ever held his attention long enough to make him reconsider that opinion. Well except for a human female two years ago!
Spending one incredible night with her and it confirms his worse fear….
She’s his mate!! So he does the only thing can, he runs away!!

You could read it without reading the previous book, but it does make sense to read in order.
You get more information by reading in order.

And we get a brief glimpse of the last two bears in this series, and a hint of a new series (wolves) ?

Most of the book is Knox trying to help Skye escape the men that want to kill the black ridge bear clan (you’ll find out why in the previous book)

The descriptions bring this book to life, your there willing Knox to succeed in his mission to help his mate and to end the men that want his clan dead.
You hold your breath as he fights for both his life and the life of his mate.
You also want to beat Knox as he denies his feelings for Skye!
And you hope that she can forgive him and accept that he’s not just a sexy human male.

So will Knox get revenge on the man that almost killed his brother (see that’s why you need to read the previous book)? Can he save Skye?
And will she accept his bear when the truth comes out?

And now it’s a wait for book four….

"Saved By Her Bear" by Felicity Heaton is the third book in the Black Ridge Bears series in her Eternal Mates world. It picks up right after Rescued By Her Bear, and I highly recommend the other books in this series be read first for maximum enjoyment.

Bear shifter Knox is hunting some evil humans that are looking for his twin's mate Cameo. He is trying to find them to protect his family and his pride. When he catches up with them, he finds Skye with them - a human with whom he had a one-night stand in the past. That night scared him so much by making him feel so much, that he ghosted her, and now it looks like he needs to help save her.

Though Skye is still angry about waking up and finding Knox had left, and then never tried to contact her again, she is very happy to find help when she realizes the men who hired her lied about why they were up there and appear dangerous. As she follows Knox's lead, she starts to hope that she will make it out of her predicament alive.

I like that Skye is feisty, smart and independent and that she is willing to give Knox a second chance. I like that Knox realizes what he almost lost and fights for that second chance, literally. This story contains lots of action and suspense, two very large growly bears, and a hero who learns the hard way that maybe he should have let his woman handle that gun. Rune and Maverick help Knox save the day and we learn more about their personalities. I very much look forward to the next book in this series.

The bears 3!! The Black Ridge Bears has been such a fun series. Don't we just love our bears all warm and cuddly? *grins*

Desperation can make you do things you normally wouldn't do and our little sweetie needs an influx of serious cash fast. What could go wrong with a guided tour of the mountains?

The Bear is all about getting his hunt on, to find and end the threat against his twin and his mate, Our bear is a tad bit grumpy and all focused on the baddies he's hunting all up until he sees her.

I've had to say I've never been about that second chance thing, I rarely read them, but because it's felicity and bears I had to read it and am glad that I did. Some heat a bit of danger and a few aw moments. Will our sexy grump figure out how to make things right? Will our little sweetie give the bear some play or will she stop in his tracks. Bears, gangsters, and loves oh my.

Felicity did well with creating the character profiles and make them fit the story. The good boys and the bad boys were well done. and as always in a series, we love the fact we see some of the first characters we met. Get the first two, and stand by for the next in the series. Enjoy

Favourite book in the series so far ..


This book continues on from book 2 with snippets from previous in series . You don’t need to have read the others , but it does give you information along the way of events that have occurred .

Both Lead characters are strong willed . The author has penned them well giving us depth and definition along the way . Skye is strong , no damsel in distress and Knox ‘s bear wants to be her knight in shining armour . Lol

Lots of action and on the edge of your seat suspense . We follow the story of the crew who are chasing their lost treasure so to speak “” I don’t want to give any spoilers away “” moments where you feel like socking Karl a good one !!

Felicity has created characters you’d like to see eaten by these bears , and takes us on an adventure through the rugged snow and cold .

The vivid imagery is always well delivered . The suspense thrilling and a slow burn love that burns slowly .

An enjoyable story with well fleshed out characters And storyline.

I look forward to meeting the other bears in the series .

Skye is desperate to save her bar so she takes a job as a guide for some men who come to her bar looking for a guide to help them locate their friends. As the trek through the wilderness starts Skye soon discovers this trip is more than the men implied when they hired her and someone is going to get hurt or killed in the end. Knox is helping his brother protect his mate by tracking the stranger in the woods who are after his brothers mate. As Knox gets closer he discover one of the people is not a stranger to him, they had one amazing night together and then he left before morning without a note or contacting Skye in any way afterwards. Knox knows he has to save her because she is his fated mate but she is human and does not know he is a bear shifter. Will he be able to explain to Skye what he is without terrifying her and making her run? I love this book. The story is original and the characters are great together. If you love shifters this is a must read.

What a great book to immerse myself in while dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Of course, we lost power but, lucky me, I had plenty of books already downloaded on my ipad. I've waited to read Knox's book since I first met him in book one of this series and I'm so glad his story is finally ready. Knox and Skye are a great duo and their story kept me engaged from beginning to end. Which was really great, because it got my mind off the heat of southern Louisiana. I love the characters, Knox is my new favorite, and I can't wait to see what the author has planned for the next book in the series. Well done to the author an a phenomenal story.

We are back for book 3 and there’s even more growling surliness, suspenseful twists, shape shifting adventure, touches of romance, alluring heat and a strong, willfull lady to bring it all together. Knox in all his angry glory finally gets his own story and a second chance with the woman he loved and left. I love how each book stands on its own but still ties in beautifully with the prior books. You aren’t left feeling like you missed something. There is so much excitement and humor as Knox try’s to protect those he loves the most. The details, vibrancy and riveting content makes this installment more than a must read.

Skye needs money to keep her bar afloat so when four strangers flops down a bunch of cash for her to guide them into the mountains she accepts. But soon finds out their story is a lie and now she’s in danger so to come up with a plan and try to escape she takes them the wrong way. Not knowing Knox is trailing them and is going to try to keep her safe and get her away from them. But Skye doesn’t know he can change into a bear. But now she does know he’s out there. So thing change fast for these two. So enjoy another good read a see what trouble and how they get out of it!!

I just loved Knox's story. Knox took on the responsibility of finding and removing the drug lord and his cohorts before they get to his twin's mate. Those evil men want to kill her. Then, in disbelief, Knox finds Skye is the guide for those evil men. Knox feels Skye is fated mate and he's been avoiding her for two years. Skye finds herself in a predicament of epic proportions. She needs the money to keep her bar afloat but realizes these are evil men. She has a feeling someone, Knox, is following them. Lots of action and steamy romance before they save themselves and all the members of his pride and they get their happily ever after.

Bear shifter, Knox is hunting humans.  With his twin recovering in the capeable hands of his new mate,  Knox is going to find those responsible for all the trouble. 

Skye runs a struggling bar, so when someone offers her a huge amount of money to guide them up the mountain, she agrees. That has to be her worst decision ever.  

This is an action packed paranormal romance filled with danger and excitement. 

This book is part of a series that should be read in order, but you could read each book on it's own.

Really enjoying this bear shifter series! Enjoyed the suspense aspect to this one, and of course, the sweet and passionate romance! Knox and Skye are too cute! Awesome chemistry! I enjoy the second chance aspect to the romance as well, and that the situation with the bad guys bringing Skye into a bad situation brings out the protective nature of Knox. Of course, I love the shifter aspect to the story! Both Knox and Skye are likable characters too; loved that Skye holds her own in a dangerous, intense situation. Fun, entertaining read!

This is a second chance Romance story set in a Paranormal series. Knox and Skye are the leading characters. Knox has loved and left Skye before. They meet again in a suspense filled moment and it will bring out the alpha in Kox. He is on a mission, but will fall harder for the Independent Skye. Skye is adorable, adventurous and can hold her own. They had a moment in time but now they have forever. Saved by the Bear is a sweet, passionate story filled with angst dudpense. Loving this series. Love that Knox is getting his story. I accidentally skipped this one but had no problem reading out of order. This story is a second chance romance for Knox. Two years ago he met the one but was too afraid of her finding out he is a bear shifter. But fate puts him right where he needs to be. Skye runs a bar and the weather is wrecking her business. But a chance at money may be her downfall. The story has plenty of danger and bad guys that don’t know when to stop. The romance is sweet as Skye isn’t afraid of anything, especially not a grumpy bear.

I'm really not into bear shifters, but there's something about the way Felicity Heaton writes her stories that I can't help but love the brutes!
Knox is on a mission to help keep his twin, his twins mate and his pride from harm from the thugs hunting Lowe's mate Cameo. When a unexpected person happens to be with said thugs, his whole is flipped upside down.
It's a great story from start to finish. A must read!

I have a new series favorite! Knox and Skye had the best second chance story. Between the bad guys, crazy winter weather in the woods, gun fights and running for their lives the romance was fire. Im looking forward to seeing who is up next. Great series!

Every so often we come across a character of Ms Heaton’s and I worry that come the time, I’m not gonna like them in their own story. Knox was like that for me when reading Lowe’s story….. but I should’ve known better and remembered that Felicity always has the ability to redeem these broken men!

Saved by Her Bear was Knox and Skye’s tale. Full of action, suspense, secrets and heat, it’s everything we’ve come to expect from Ms Heaton and her shifters.

I fell for Knox as we discovered his thoughts and feelings about himself and the reasons why after initially finding Skye and spending time with her he stayed away and broke her heart… that’s when my heart hurt for him.

Skye was a kickass heroine and I really liked her. She was snarky and smart - though she thought otherwise once she realised the ‘job’ she’d taken on was more than she’d been told. Even though he’d hurt her and she was determined to protect her heart from him, she worked with Knox to deal with the guys who have pretty much taken her hostage. In the process, she realises how she still feels about the big bear shifter (though at this point she doesn’t know his secret!).

The story was a continuation from the second in the series and we found out just how vile the bad guys were but we were also reminded of how determined, bloody minded and dangerous a shifter can be when it comes to his fated mate and keeping her safe.

Maverick and Rune definitely snagged my attention and I can’t wait to find out more about the pair.

Grumbly, quick-tempered Knox is up for finding his special lady friend and...actually, he'd already met her. Met her, loved her, and left her. Which makes finding her as a guide for the men he's hunting a little bit awkward. Just a little, though. Tiny bit.

Mostly because by the time Skye spots him lurking in the woods, she's realized that the men who asked her to help find their friend in the wilderness might not be on the up and up. As resourceful as she is, she can't see a way out of the situation she's in.

Until, you know, Knox appears and suddenly things don't look so hopeless.

Which isn't to say things are easy for the two of them. There's the little issue of Knox ghosting her a couple of years ago and the slightly bigger issue of his shapeshifting. Seeing as Skye is human and has no idea something like that is possible...hahaha. Yeah. Knox is worried about that reveal. Plus, there's the drug lord Skye's accidentally crossed paths with.

Yeah, things are a little complicated, but Skye's smart and wily and she takes the chances she's given. Knox might be fighting the fated mate thing, but he gets his head in the right place. Eventually. *thumbs up*
