Belle Calhoune writes heartwarming, inspirational romance novels set in small, cozy towns. Married to her college sweetheart and living in southern Connecticut, she is the mother of two girls. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she is one of five children. Growing up across the street from a public library allowed her to become an avid reader who aspired to be a romance writer. When she isn't writing, she enjoys reading, spending time in Cape Cod, traveling and enjoying time with friends and family. Belle hopes her books will provide readers with inspiration, entertainment and an escape from day to day life.
This is a Clean Second Chance Romance, and this is the first book in the Serenity Peak series. I really loved the characters in this book, and I loved getting to know all these characters. I cannot wait to keep reading this series. The storyline was so good, and I really enjoyed getting into this story. I do wish the main characters would just tell each other what was really going on in this story, but I understand why they did not. I really love the setting in this book. The ending was everything this book needed. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
This was the first book I had read by this author and I really enjoyed it. Good characters that were believable and a nice plot. I will read more by this author. My thanks to the publisher for an electronic copy of this book.
A beautiful setting, great characters, and an intriguing plot make Her Alaskan Return another winning effort by Belle Calhoune! Autumn Hines and Judah Campbell have both loved others and they've both faced loss, but God's plans are often surprising, aren't they? They are also best if we just trust and believe!
Her Alaskan Return is a lovely story of secrets, second chances, forgiveness, and acceptance. Calhoune certainly knows how to pull our heartstrings and she's made me eager to return to Serenity Peak, Alaska! I recommend this book to all who enjoy romantic Christian fiction.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
Her Alaskan Return by Belle Calhoune! Such an amazing story with amazing characters! As Autumn Hines returns to her hometown to raise her unborn child can she finally be truthful with her ex Judith Campbell why she had to leave years ago! I gave this a 5 star because it was such a great and wonderful story! A Second Chance at love will keep you reading and turning the pages to see where this story will take you too!
Author Belle Calhoune starts a brand new series with Her Alaskan Return, and she sure welcomes us to Serenity Peak with open arms! Second chance romance is the name of the game here, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Autumn and Judah’s story. Judah Campbell is a commercial fisherman, with the life flowing through his veins from the fishermen family members who came before him. Tragically he lost his wife and only child several years earlier. He’s still hurt and angry. He’s also bitter that some members of the town spread vicious rumors about his wife and what led to the accident. He’s decided the Lord left him completely on his own. Autumn Hines, pregnant and recently divorced, is back home for good. She left Serenity Peak years earlier for a journalism career…or was it more than that? She and Judah thought they’d be together forever, but she left, and let him go. He’s never really understood why, and that’s because she’s been holding onto a secret for years. Autumn is working on a story that intertwines with Judah’s livelihood. Can they work together? Can the Lord impart on her to be truthful to Judah? Can Judah open up his heart to the Lord’s healing, and to trusting Autumn again? Maybe, just maybe, Autumn is not only returning to a town. Maybe she’ll be able to return to Judah’s heart. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I’m already impatient for it, and I’m sure you will be, too! I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
This sweet, clean, contemporary romance hits some of the best second-chance beats. Autumn has come back to her Alaskan home town after leaving a bad marriage. She's five months pregnant, and she had never expected to have a child.
The first person she runs into his her ex, Judah, who's now widowed and childless after a tragic car accident. He's bitter and stays away from almost everyone.
Except that he's still drawn to Autumn.
As we watch them growing and learning things about themselves, it's impossible not to root for them. Because this is an inspirational romance, one party's "come to Jesus" moment is inevitable ... but it felt real and not contrived.
I enjoyed this little book, and would recommend it to those who like their romance squeaky-clean.
I’ve been reading Belle Calhoune for a couple of years now. In fact, she’s the only Harlequin Love Inspired author that I read. I’m not a fan of having God and religion crammed down my throat. I love Belle’s writing because she doesn’t do that with her stories. Her characters believe in God, and call on him from time to time, but deep down know that he has a plan for them even when they don’t see it or want to acknowledge it.
I discovered Belle halfway through her other Love Inspired series, Home to Owl Creek. I was excited to read Her Alaskan Return, which happens to be a seasoned romance, because it kicks off Belle’s new series, Serenity Peak. Like her Home to Owl Creek series, Serenity Peak takes place in a small Alaskan town. There might even be the possibility of the two series having cross-over characters. In Her Alaskan Return, Judah Campbell and Autumn Hines are given a second chance at love after a twelve-year breakup where they’ve experienced love, divorce, a surprise pregnancy, and the deaths of a spouse and child.
I found Autumn and Judah to be likable characters. Of course, Autumn rubbed me the wrong way, with her telling Judah how he should feel or what he should do, after losing his family so suddenly. But I get that her heart was in the right place. Honestly, I think my saying I liked Judah is the understatement of the year. Belle really put Judah through the wringer with this story. For what seemed like more than half the book, he was in turmoil, never really knowing which way was up or down. I found him to be relatable and genuine. You can definitely see the love they have for each other. Belle has written some wonderful heartfelt scenes, one of them being the confession of love.
I know this series just got started, but I am really looking forward to returning to Serenity Peak, Alaska. There are a couple of characters I can’t wait to have stories written about.

Her Alaskan Return is a well written romance. Good plot and character dynamics and I loved the Alaskan setting. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook.. This is my unbiased review.
Her Alaskan Return is such a good second chance at love story! It is also the beginning of a new series and the author did a great job of creating a community full of interesting characters whom I want to get to know better in future stories.
Autumn and Judah had a lot to work through, both together and on their own. Judah had lost a lot in the last few years. He had put distance between not only himself and the community, but also between himself and God. He was not handling his grief well. He began to return to life when Autumn came back to Alaska, however, he still had many emotional struggles to overcome.
I really liked these two characters together! They persevered and did the work they needed to do on themselves and on their relationship. It was fun to see them get their happily ever after. I look forward to returning to this series in the future.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Thank you in advance to the author, Belle Calhoune, for providing a complimentary review copy. A positive review was not required nor requested, and all words are my own.
Belle Calhoune has a wonderful way of delivering beautiful stories of second chances, dramatic backgrounds, heart-breaking loss, and uplifting romance.
This is seemingly the second book in her Serenity Peak series, and about the third of her Love Inspired books I’ve read, though I have quite a few on my TBR list. I’ve also read her Forever published book, No Ordinary Christmas. I have the other two books from her Mistletoe, Maine series on the TBR as well.
What’s interesting; is that the book prior to this is labeled as book #1, though it is connected to her HOME TO OWL CREEK series as well. One of the characters from that series, Ace Reynolds is only mentioned in this book.
However, this truly acts as a standalone book.
Calhoune introduces us to:
🎣 Judah 📰 Autumn ✳️ Cecily (Autumn’s sister) 🦪 Sean (Autumn’s brother, friends with Judah, owner of restaurant) ✳️ Leif (Judah’s brother) 🚓 Ryan (Leif’ son, police officer)
Along with other members of the community.
Even though this is an uplifting and clean read; there are references to infidelity (prior to the story), infertility (endometriosis), addiction to pain killers (prior to the story), child death (prior to the story). These might be a bit problematic for some readers.
Slight spoiler: at one point, to celebrate what would’ve been his son’s birthday, Judah releases some balloons. This is a TOUCHY and VERY SENSITIVE topic with some people given the impact to wildlife as well as environmental dangers from such. There are people who want to ban balloons (release, sales, and possession to combat this issue. I am definitely not taking a stance on this. I do believe it is a sensitive topic. As of note, I still have my balloon from Disneyland’s 60th anniversary. It was brought home with me, deflated naturally and packed in a box with my memorabilia. They can be preserved responsibly.
That said ...
Calhoune starts off with Judah and his work – fishing. [Note: don’t read when hungry].
After he dismisses his crew, he sees someone in the bad weather needing help. It’s his ex-sweetheart Autumn. Naturally, in the 12 years since they’ve been a couple – their lives have been altered. Judah, four years earlier, lost his wife Mary and son Zane in a car accident. And, given Mary’s past, some rumors circulated regarding her. This has put him at odds with some of his family and some members of the community.
And, he’s also at odds with how Autumn left him. Though he can’t leave the poor pregnant lady out in the bad weather.
But, he takes her to his place to get dry before taking her to her sister’s place.
Judah learns that Autumn is divorced and returned to raise her baby there. She’s grown to love small towns after living in New York. [I can relate. I thought I’d love a big city, as I get older – not so much.]
Of course, their reunion is brief and he takes her home. Cecily is waiting for her sister and remarks about eating crab every day. I had to set the book down, I was getting hungry. I, like Cecily, could eat crab every day. I miss the days of $3.99/lb snow crab and $7.99/lb king crab. I mean, it’s just SO good!
Moving on …
In addition to her assignment on the fishing industry, Autumn is worried about her pregnancy given her past medical issues – the reason she left Judah in the first place. Her doctor gives her a clean bill.
Judah also has his own worries, in a way – the federal investigation in the allegations about the industry. He’s lost so much, and is only holding on because of his business.
Judah finds out about Autumn’s assignment by accident, but he eventually helps her. But, being around her reminds him of what he lost; yet being around her helps him heal as well.
It’s clear he wants to move on, but is stuck in the past. Part of it has to do with his brother Leif.
Like always – there is going to be the “break up to make up” part of the book. (I LOVE that song by The Stylistics).
Calhoune fills the story with themes of resiliency, faith, finding oneself, forgiveness, and grace typical of the line and genre.
She keeps the reader’s attention from beginning to end. And, I say that because I was really drawn right in and kept reading this off and on within a day. The pacing was absolute perfection – not too slow that I felt I needed to read ahead, but it didn’t feel like it was being rushed either.
My “reading” pace was on par with house I used to read about 21 years ago with the Intrigue line. And, speaking of intrigue, I do have to admit that I was SLIGHTLY disappointed with the fraud arc of the story. I was expecting a bit more than a “blurb” to it as I wanted to know who was behind it, why – those things. I felt there was a deeper story there and wanted a bit more to add to the dynamic. Perhaps Calhoune will revisit this in future stories.
Other than that, I absolutely ADORED the book.
This has the “Hallmark movie” vibe to it. Which isn’t surprising. One of the author’s Love Inspired books was made into a Hallmark movie.
There is a term some might find offensive, but is 100% accurate – GERIATRIC PREGNANCY. This refers to a pregnancy where the woman is over 35, as Calhoune explains in the book. I actually learned about it about 10-12 years ago when a mutual friend was pregnant and she was over 35. Her pregnancy was fine, but we all had a laugh over the terminology.
Calhoune expertly balanced the tragedy and second-chance romance. Fans of the author and genre are sure to enjoy this, and I know I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Even though this is from the faith-themed line of Harlequin, the references are slight and not overwhelming. It doesn’t feel like the author is preaching to the reader.
HER ALASKAN RETURN by Belle Calhoun is the exceptional telling of the second chance romance of Autumn Hines and Judah Campbell that takes place in the beautiful setting of Serenity Peak, Alaska.
Once longtime best friends that turned to romance, Autumn ended the relationship sudden, with no explanation to Judah, when she found out that due to a medical issue that she would be unable to have children and left town. Both heartbroken, they each went on to have a life separate from each other with Autumn following her desire to become a writer and eventually marrying a musician.
Judah has endured one heartache after another with each one sending him deeper down into depression. He never really got over the breakup with Autumn. Mainly because he didn’t understand what had happened. Picking up the pieces, he had married and they had a son – the light of his world. In the matter of seconds, he’s world crashed when they were taken from him in a winter car accident. Rumors about his wife after the accident was like someone plunging a knife in him. This was followed closely by the death of his dad. It all seems to be too much for him. He just found it better to isolate himself either at home or out at sea. He was holding on to the hurt and it seemed to see the faces of other or their actions just made it worse.
Years later Autumn had to have surgery for her medical condition, but no one ever told her that she would now be able to conceive a child. When she finds out she is pregnant, she was ecstatic, but her husband was fair from being thrilled. The marriage crumbled and she filed for divorce. Knowing she was going to be a single parent to this bundle of joy, there was no place she would raise her child but back in her hometown. Can she pull it off? Can she work remotely submitting her stories in from Serenity Peak? Will she be accepted back into the closeknit community after such a long absence? How will her being pregnant and divorced be accepted? How will she feel about facing Judah? Will she ever be able to come clean about why she left?
To say Judah was shocked when Autumn appears before him was an understatement. Seems one thing hasn’t changed. They still butt heads disagreeing about things. How can he get so upset with her and still feel the need to look at her seeing the women he once loved? Autumn is hoping he will help her with the very thing rumors are pointing a finger at him over. Is she trying to help the fishermen or have her own agenda? Will Autumn’s persistence make her the one that helps to pull him out of his agonizing hurt, his feeling of guilt and the loss of his faith? Is there really a possibility of a second chance or will Judah be completely destroyed by Autumn again?
HER ALASKAN RETURN is such a compelling, well-written love story that it will definitely have you reading it in one sitting as you fall in love with Autumn, Judah and the residents of Serenity Peak. Belle Calhoun seamlessly managed to tell the love story of two young people. Their love seemed to be at a dead end, but it had only taken a detour for 12 years. Like a magnet, they are once again drawn back to each other, but it will take love, honesty and sticking it out to make it work. Loved the thread of faith throughout the story. The passage at the front of the book not only applies to the story, but as a remind to our lives as we endure discouraging events, pain and suffering. We just need to remember “I am with thee” from Isaiah 41:10.
Can’t wait to visit Serenity Peak again. There are so many supporting characters that need their story told. I most definitely highly recommend HER ALASKAN RETURN to anyone that loves a fabulous, well-written inspirational love story. A FIVE STAR book for sure!
I receive an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own.
In Belle Calhoune’s Her Alaskan Return, the first installment in this inspirational contemporary romance series, this debut is light-hearted and uplifting by second chances, following your heart, and trusting your faith in God. For Autumn Hines, she returned to her hometown of Serenity Peak, Alaska, after a bitter divorce and a move from New York City. She hasn’t returned to Alaska in over a decade. But during a storm on her way home, she ran into her ex-boyfriend Judah Campbell, her former true love, and kept a secret from the truth on why they’ve broken up in the first place. Besides being divorced, she was also pregnant with her first child from her previous marriage. Their bittersweet reunion wasn’t off to a good start. For Judah, a widower, who continued to mourn the loss of his wife and son Zane, he blamed everyone for their untimely deaths. But he didn’t expect to see Autumn pregnant, and back home to Serenity Peak after all these years. As they started to help each other in the right direction, her journalism career and his passion for fishing, in spite of false allegations against him, they slowly rebuilt truth and faith in each other. As friends, things started to heat up between them with an ice-melting kiss and befuddled feelings. They slowly began to ignite that spark for a second chance for a future. But one thing stood in their way: Autumn’s reason why she broke up with him in the future. Would they believe in each other and let God lead the way to a road for newfound happiness?
This emotionally heartfelt inspirational contemporary romance will make you believe in second chances to find love. I instantly cared about Autumn and the baby she carried as a single mother. I also had compassion for Judah, who had lost so much in a blink of an eye, and wanted to regain his footing on the ground. I love the serendipitous location of Serenity Peak, Alaska, and its enchanted scenic settings for a small town. The theme of the story is to trust your feelings and give love a chance.
This compassionate, inspirational contemporary romance is a tear-jerker and heart-warming. I rated this book, four out of five stars for no reason. If you love an inspirational contemporary romance that makes you a believer in second chances with non-stop action, plenty of romantic drama, and lots of fiery sparks, check out Her Alaskan Return. This book is recommended for Hallmark Channel fans, and for fans of Colleen Coble and Kim Vogel Sawyer.
I read several Belle Calhoune books a few years ago and enjoyed them immensely. But somehow, I lost track of her releases in the last five years, so when I saw this one was a Harlequin Love Inspired title and the first in an all-new series, I really wanted to read it as I truly enjoy several of the Love Inspired authors.
I’m a character girl, and whether or not I can connect with the main characters tends to really influence how much I like a title. Unfortunately, I had a hard time connecting with Autumn. My heart broke for Judah, and I could more than understand why he shut himself away from his community the way he did. But I honestly couldn’t grasp why Autumn would have dumped Judah without an explanation if she truly had been so in love with him years before. I know they were young, but if you’re considering marriage as they were, you’d at least talk things through, not simply ghost someone. So, I think I started the book not caring for her past, which continued to rub me the wrong way throughout most of the story. However, the author’s writing and ability to weave a good tale full of family, friends, and small-town feels kept me engaged, and I eventually resolved most of my issues with Autumn by the time the satisfying HEA rolled around.
Overall, Her Alaskan Return was a very entertaining story, but it wasn’t quite the unputdownable book I hoped for. I’m still a fan of Ms. Calhoune’s writing, though. There are many authors whose books I really enjoy, and not every one of those is a 5-star read for me, yet I don’t give up on their books. So, I’ll happily look forward to the next one she brings us in this series!
Her Alaskan Return by Belle Calhoune is book #1 in her new Serenity Peak series. Autumn Hines moves back to her hometown when she realizes she's a soon to be single mom. Serenity Peak is the perfect place to raise her baby. Fisherman Judah Campbell lost his wife and son in an accident. One day driving home, he sees a lady on the side of the road standing in front of her hood. When he goes to help her, he realizes it's Autumn his old flame. Of course, memories and feelings come to the surface of their failed relationship. Autumn though has a secret. Can she speak the truth to finally get what they both want? I loved reading about Judah and Autumn's story. I loved Serenity Peak (really all stories told in Alaska) and I'm so excited to see all the stories that are to welcome us to this town. Second Chance romances are a favorite trope of mine. I love seeing how they start off awkward with each other and worm their way back into each other's hearts. Judah is probably one of my favorite characters. He's really been put through the ringer. He lost his wife and son then he lost his dad. He feels alone and abandoned from the Lord. I think we all could relate to that from time to time. I cheered as Judah finally opened up to receive the possibilities that were there waiting for him with Autumn. It also had an epilogue and we all know how I love epilogues. I'm happy this is the start of a new series and we have many more books happening in Serenity Peak. I was given a copy of this book, but all opinions are my very own.
This was such a lovely romance filled with deep emotions and wonderful characters. It was a romance that will give you a warm feeling and leave you with a smile on your face.
Autumn Hines has come back home to Alaska to raise her unborn baby. She knows this is where she needs to be. She ends up seeing her old boyfriend, Judah Campbell. Judah is a very successful local fisherman. Judah has suffered a terrible loss in his life and has shut himself away from his family and community. Autumn’s appearance stirs up feelings that he thought he had put to rest a long time ago. She broke his heart many years ago when she broke up with him and moved away. She had her reasons, but she failed to share her secret with Judah, so he just feels betrayed.
The emotional trauma that Judah suffered made him a little hard nosed, but you can see Autumn breaking down those barriers. Second chance romances are my favorite kind of romance, and Belle Calhoune knows how to make her characters real and evoke emotions from me as the reader. This was an uplifting story of love, hope and inspiration.
If you enjoy a clean and wholesome romance, you will enjoy this this book.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Second chance stories are one of my favorite genres! After characters have a chance to experience life a little more, they give romance another go! In this story, both Autumn and Judah thought they were destined to be together forever. However, because of a secret that Autumn held at the time, she broke things off. Twelve years later, after both of them have married and are now single once again, Autumn returns to her Alaska hometown because she's pregnant and newly divorced. Judah can't believe it when he sees her again! He's still deeply grieving the loss of his wife and son from an accident 4 years ago and has shut himself off from the community. Will Autumn be able to help Judah get back into the community and heal the scars he has, both with his family and between the two of them? Can she finally share her secret of why she broke up with him 12 years ago? I enjoyed this new series by this author and the new Alaska town & its people that we will get to know!
A story of doing what you think is for the best With faith and love at its heart, but put to the test. A heartwarming story of a romance Given at last a second chance.
Autumn Hines left Alaska for years Leaving her ex boyfriend - and her - in tears. He never knew the true reason why, Instead back then she chose to lie.
Now she's back, and pregnant, too, He's widowed and grieving, what should she do? As fate throws the two together once more Can they the attraction still between them ignore?
After years away, she's returning home No more is she planning to roam. Instead she's determined to settle here With her family and old friends so near.
Coping with grief and loss is never easy to do And Judah has a lot that he's been through. Can the return of his first love help him to heal, But what will the hidden secrets reveal?
For my complementary copy, I say thank you, As I share with you this, my honest review.
Autumn is recently divorced after learning of her husband cheating on her. Autumn is pregnant and heading back to her hometown of Serenity Peaks Alaska where she feels she needs to be. Judah is a local fisherman who lost his son and wife in a tragic accident is somewhat of a loner. Autumn and Judah broke up some time ago. The two run into each and what they once felt for each other is still there and things are looking up for Judah. The thing is Autumn is keeping a secret from Judah. Years ago, she was informed that she couldn’t have children thinking that would be a deal breaker and that Judah wouldn’t want her.
How will Judah feel when he learns of the reason for the break up with Autumn, now the two have seen each other again is there a second chance for romance for Autumn and Judah?
I received and ARC via NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada), Love Inspired Romance and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
Her Alaskan Return by Belle Calhoune takes us to the fictional town of Serenity Peak, Alaska.
I love small town stories, especially ones set in Alaska, so I was thrilled for the opportunity to read this story. Plus I love this author’s books, so I knew this would be a good one. And it was!
This is a second-chance romance about grief, loss, community, and new beginnings. It touches the heart, and all the emotions, making readers root for a happily-ever-after. I also loved the fishing stories and meeting other characters who might get their own stories throughout the rest of the series!
If you love sweet romances with all the feels, then check out Her Alaskan Return. It was a wonderful story!

I enjoy reading Belle Calhoune stories. And this one was a great read. The first in the series it holds wonderful characters. Is a story of Trust, Faith, love and second chances. Has Autumn returns back home to Alaska with her unborn child and past secrets. She is met in a snowy storm by Judah the guy that hold once her heart.
Judah dealing with the loss of his wife and son feels like he has been slapped by the one girl that owned his heart and broke it in pieces years ago. But with his painful heart he has pushed everything away and with Autumn having returned will their once true love be able to conquer all the secrets, pain and disappointments that are thrown their way?
Author Belle writes stories that get you hooked trying to figure out if a happy ending will be with each page you turn.
I received an ARC from the author. All comments noted here are my own.
In book one of her new Serenity Peak series, author Belle Calhoune returns us to Alaska. I always enjoy her descriptions of a place I can’t really visit. Alaska sounds beautiful!
In Her Alaskan Return we meet Autumn who has returned home to have her baby. Autumn has been through a lot and I really had empathy for her. Judah is assuming something about their shared past and has understandably put up walls. He’s well written as a hero, even in his stubbornness. Once they stop telling each other how they should feel there might be hope for a second chance.
Calhoune has become one of my favorite authors and if you’ve read her books you’ll know why. Clean, compelling, and sweet, I highly recommend Her Alaskan Return.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
When I picked up this book, I expected it would follow the Hallmark-ish type romance formula, and just be set in Alaska, but this one turned out a bit different. Instead of boy meets girl and sparks fly, this one had the boy and girl (Judah and Autumn) as being a former couple and were deeply in love, girl dumped the boy because she was told she couldn't have children. Fast forward to 15 years later and this is where our story takes place, Autumn has just moved back to Alaska and is preparing to start over. Judah's wife and son were killed in a car crash and he just wants to stop. The chemistry is there, but there are so many obstacles.
It is a quick, fun read, I only wish there was a bit more of Alaska in the book because of my obsession, otherwise, this was a nice escape.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me get my hands on this one a bit early.
A quick and sweet story about second chances. After a diagnosis of infertility due to severe endometriosis, a long term relationship is severed. Each marry someone else and go on with like fe, putting the past behind them.
Flash ahead 12 years and divorce and deaths have affected them. Autumn returns to her home town pregnant and alone. Judah is still reeling in grief over the loss of his wife and son. They reconnect and reminisce about the past renewing their friendship and eventually they fall back in love.
But when Autumn reveals the reason she broke up with him and moved to NY, will he be able to accept it and give her a second chance?
Although I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Judah and Autumn were each others' first true love, but Autumn kept a secret from Judah and walked away from their relationship. 12 years later she is back in her hometown to raise her baby that she never thought she would be able to have. Judah is a sullen recluse due to losing his wife and child in a car accident four years ago. He is angry and lashes out whenever someone crosses his path, making him a person most townsfolk avoid. When their paths keep intersecting, will Autumn and Judah be able to let go of the past and look toward the future, or will the selfish way Autumn ended their relationship the first time, blow up any chance at happiness they might have? I received an advance copy of this book from the author. All opinions in this review are my own.
This was a good read! I got a little aggravated with Autumn a few times, as she seemed way too holier-than-thou toward Judah. She's the one that lied to him, then comes back home thinking everything should be fine and that they could pick up as friends, while she's going through a divorce and facing life as a single mom. Meanwhile, the death of Judah's wife and son has sent him spiraling downward in his grief, where he's also put his relationship with God on a back burner, turned away from family and friends, and is just going through the motions of living. Autumn does help Judah to see that he's the one who has pushed others away, and that God didn't move away, either. When Autumn finally tells Judah the truth, these two can finally move forward.
I enjoyed it. It's got sweetness and second chances, a baby and a secret! “Judah made her think of things she hadn’t thought of in over a decade. And he made her feel guilty about the secret that had ended their relationship. Back in New York it had been easy to cast her lie of omission to the side and pretend as if it had never happened. But now that she was back in Serenity Peak and close to Judah, the lie was weighing heavily on her every time she gazed into his soulful blue eyes.” I received an ARC of this book for review. I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own.
Her Alaskan Return is a short and sweet romance. When Autumn finds herself pregnant and divorced, she heads home to Serenity Peak, Alaska, to raise the baby. She quickly runs into her ex-boyfriend, Judah, who is dealing with the death of his wife and son, as well as his father, when Autumn comes crashing back to town and into his heart. It’s a cute story even though I wasn’t a huge fan of Judah and he annoyed me a few times.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
Widowed fisherman Judah Campbell was on his way home from work in a downpour of rain. He spots a woman on the side of the road having car trouble. Judah is shocked to see Autumn Hines his first love. Autumn decided to move back home to Alaska to raise her baby near her family. Her brother Sean is Judahs best friend. Judah never understood why Autumn moved away from Alaska. Seeing her now brings back painful memories. This is an heartwarming, emotional story of love, faith and hope. Her Alaskan Return is a must read story.
