This is a reference book, and as such, isn't necessarily meant to be read cover to cover, but I did so anyway over the last few months. It's an interesting way to summarize 5000 or so years of world history in just 130 pages. So, by design it concedes that it can't go into depth on most topics, so the aim is brevity and clarity. The idea works well for map nerds the geographically minded, and provides an insight into how and when modern political borders developed.
