Half-faerie Skylar Corazzi doesn't have to go hunting for trouble—it finds her on its own.
After earning a spot in the university sentinel program, Sky thinks she has it made... until the first days of boot camp. The vampire and shapeshifter coaches mean serious business and have no qualms about whipping her into shape.
Shortly after Sky witnesses a grisly automobile accident, sentinels rule it wasn't a case of poor human judgment. A string of negligent mortals making reckless choices indicates an evil faerie is interfering with fate. One by one, her friends land in the crossfire.
It isn't Sky's case, but if she doesn't stay on her A-game, supernaturals will die. And one may be the man closest to her.
After reading The Hidden Court, the first in this series, I was so excited to see what next crazy adventures came to Sky and Gabe.
Unfortunately, this book did not live up to the first one. I'm not sure if it was because we got to see how this magical world worked and learned more about the magic and classes at PRNU, but I felt myself getting bored.
Then, there was a random semi-smutty scene thrown in that did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for the plot. Like why do authors think they HAVE to put sex in a book? It changed nothing for the characters and in fact made the big reveal feel cheapened by it.
Even the villain was mediocre and there was not fast-paced, edge-of--your-seat thrills in this book. There was only one section that even made me worry for the MCs and that was over in mere pages.
I will not be reading the rest of the series because the Skylar of book 1 turned into a whiney Skylar who I just didn't like anymore.
Definitely loved this book, even more than book one if that's even possible. I love how bad a$$ Skylar is, how much we've seen her character grow and how she's grown not just as a fairy but as a sentinel as well. And you can't help but swoon after Gabriel, I'm definitely claiming him in my book boyfriend vault. I'm really enjoying this series by Vivienne Savage, it's completely different than what's out there in the Urban Fantasy genres, the world building is just epic. I'm excited to see where this series goes next and can't wait for book three. I also think some of these side characters need their own novellas, I love hearing their stories and reactions to things as well. Definitely my fave urban fantasy book of 2018!
Oh wow, did I enjoy this book or what? Such an adventure, with new challenges that brought about and out Skylar's abilities, new and improving. Part of me wanted to scoff at how easily her magic came to her, but then I remember the prophecy (which we get to hear a little more about) and remembered just how special she is.
The pacing and reveals are wonderful, and just the right amount of time is spent on lessons, both magical and scholarly, so I never got bored. Very action-packed.
The slow-burn romance between Skylar and Gabriel continues, although it does ratchet up a notch or two.
All in all, I think I liked book 2 better than book 1. I'm very much looking forward to the next book, from Gabriel's point of view.
My content rating would have to be PG17, for language and one sizzling makeout session.
Thrilling! I devoured this book in one sitting it was impossible to put down! I absolutely love the characters! It’s so fun to see them grow throughout the book not only themselves but with each other as well. I enjoyed the mystery and the action packed twists that left me guessing till the end. I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here and what happens next. And of course I’m always excited to read more about a certain sexy raven shifter!
Adventure, trials, drama, and romance continue in this teen fantasy sequel set st a college campus in. Chicago. It’s pretty fast-paced. I’m looking forward to the next book. Typos: as with the last book, diffuse is mixed up with defuse (twice), and the verb ‘lay’ is used four times for ‘lie.’ Mine is used for my, spec for speck, ‘no sooner...then’ should be than, and alluded is used without a preposition.
Another great chapter in this awesome series. Skylar gains more skills and power, makes some mistakes, and makes a name for herself. This book continues the exciting story of her destiny. Excellent reading. Highly recommended.
I couldn't put it down it was captivating. I loved this story. You get more insight in this book, it does leave some unanswered questions. This series is fantastic and entertaining, I'll definitely be continuing it.
This book is quite long which gives us a good understanding of every thing that is happening. I loved the slow burn romance between Gabriel and Sky. I am waiting to read the next book.
The development of these characters is done so well. Seriously loving that sky doesn't just go from zero to 100 when it comes to developing her powers. She works at it and it takes her time and effort to get better.
The Scary Godmother (The Paranormal University Files: Skylar Book 2)
Skylar second year and all is going great until something is heating some of the grandmother's charges. Sky and her friends are learning that everything is not as it same. Great story
Gabe and Skylar’s partnership/friendship/romance continues. Changes to the lore of their world lead to deadly consequences. Unexpected abilities are revealed drawing the attention of the highest nobility.
Skylark has to step up and grow her skills and powers. There’s a huge surprise twist, and the scene is set for a future collision between the good guys and evil. A great read.
