This is an easy reader nonfiction book. For my storytime of birth-four, I didn't read the book as a whole. I also didn't read every sentence on the page. (Each page had 1-3 sentences.) I just wanted my little listeners to get a little taste of this holiday when we talked about our theme for the day - shadows.
This was a very good learning book for children. Teaching about Groundhogs and the holiday Groundhogs day. What groundhogs are and what they do what they are called. And what groundhog day is when it was started why it was started and what it is 'for'. Words are kind of simple so a merging reader could read it with some help.
I normally don't do much for Groundhog Day, but I thought I should try it this year. I got all the books I could from my library and was able to find a few my kids liked. This one was a good one for my lowest readers.
Great at explaining the concept of Groundhog Day to kindergarten and 1st grade. Plus, the vocabulary is simple enough for students to read on their own.
