Julian is trapped in a nightmare of his own making. Can a protective biker bear give him a new lease on life?
Hope. Julian lost that last winter after the merciless decimation of his flock. No longer able to shift, Julian lives a bitter half-existence. Keeping his head above the water isn’t easy, especially when a scary but sweet biker bear disrupts his life. Trusting the wrong alpha once ruined Julian’s life. Julian can’t afford to make the same mistake, but he can’t stop thinking about Axel.
Persistence is key. Axel learned that the hard way when he’s assigned to bring Julian home. The tragedy that struck Julian’s flock left the omega with scars both inside and out. Axel’s good at breaking stuff and winning fights. Axel has no clue how to help his raven heal his wings but he’ll learn. When a dangerous killer from Julian’s past resurfaces, Axel steps in and takes charge. He’ll need to earn Julian’s trust fast…or lose his mate forever.
Axel is an m/m shifter romance and the second book in the Moon Burrow Bears series. It contains mpreg, a patient and lovable biker bear and his shy raven.
This is another five out of five read I really enjoyed this story it was interesting to see how the main characters interacted with each other. How they grew and change for the better honestly I really enjoyed the story. I like how there relationship it didn’t go too slow, but it didn’t go too fast either. I like the car accident scene. I also liked how Red was taken care of in a fast timidly matter they didn’t like delay the fight scene nor the killing scene. I also love the side characters so much fun.
Loved it. Axe was an alpha and so protective of his omega. He did all he could for Julian without expecting anything back, he was willing as much time as it was necessary. Julian had been through a betrayal that cost the lives of half of his flock. He was trying to move on as best as he could but meeting Axel and falling for him changed things for him (for the better). Beautiful couple
This was an healing story. One with love and finding out who you are after a tragedy. A tragedy that you placed on your shoulders to carry. Finding that person who helps you carry and over come it. This was sweet. I felt so bad for J in this book. How he was treated and the struggles he had. But Axel had him. Helped him heal. Can I just say how much I love this mismatch bear shifter group? They make me happy.. The writing was good, the smexy was goodish. I wish there was more, and the side characters the good ones were fun.
I think the storyline was a bit more interesting than Venom, though it suffers from the same faults in that it wasn't as fleshed out as it could be and everything was resolved quickly. I think a bit more page time could have been spent on Julien trusting an alpha again given his *very* traumatic past. But nope, that's pretty much resolved the moment he meets Axel and says he just *knows* he's different. How does he trust his own instincts so immediately knowing he was fooled once??? What made Axel different, he hardly knew a thing about him and had a full on relationship with an Alpha who betryed him so cruelly. Quite frustrating that point. I was also really wanting to see Julien and his pack's dynamic and relations unfold given how Julien was the unfortunate cause of their predicament, but there was just...nothing... If anything I don't really see how he learnt from his past at all with being so open to a new relationship with Axel or at the very least weary as it's unfair to say what happened to his flock was entirely on him. It could have been so so good if the author didn't rush things as I felt they had a better chemistry than Venom and Casper with a more gripping sub-plot.
Low on steam and sexual tension too, but better than book one I supposed.
And omg, the amount 'Julien' was used in this book was so irritating, the author could have done a better job with the editing of this book and definitely substituted his name with pronouns because damn I think I just ended up blocking his name from my thoughts at the end there it was so repetitive I almost dnf.
Overall, an easy, mindless read, what can I say. Still kept me hooked enough to continue the series still.
2.5 stars. The plot may not be the most original but it was interesting. I really enjoyed the array of characters and the addition of new characters.
However, this book is in need of a big edit! Even an online program like Grammarly would help it a lot. The repeated use of the characters names alone is distracting. So much so that I dnf a few times. I think in the first chapter alone I counted over 25 uses of Julian’s name. Sometimes multiple times in the same sentence.
I also think the dialogue needs a little work. Some of it is stilted and just doesn’t sound like something someone would actually say.
There were also things that seemed completely glossed over. The raven shifter still with the wolves for example.
The second book in the series is much like the first. In fact, there seems to be the same structure.
Again, this is a weird mix of super sweet fluff and dark. The content does not line up with the title, cover, or blurb. Same weird holes and it is almost like the author forgets who is who and what she has said about them before. Editing errors are very present and everything is really underdeveloped. There has been no improvement between books 1 and 2. Not being mean or picky here - just an honest review, unlike the huge number of people who do not seem to realize that an author needs honest, solid feedback to improve. Reach out Fel Fern - you may be surprised at the wealth of skills waiting to help.
Another good book in the Moon Burrow Bears series. I am enjoying these slightly darker books. This one does deal with some heavier issues, including survivors guilt, suicidal ideations, suicide and murder.
Axel was a great alpha to Julian. From the first time he met Julian he was super protective. Even when Julian doubted everything he knew about himself, he followed his instincts and trusted Axel. Julian had trusted the wrong alpha before and that lead to the slaughter of his flock. So he really had no self-value and the remaining ravens of his flock weren’t very nice to him. It was heartbreaking to read Julian’s POV. I enjoyed reading Julian regain his confidence and start building a life with Axel. Though Axel had his own past to contend with at times, he really was a strong and steady presence for Julian. Also, can I just say I am LOVING a different type of shifter here? Ravens? More of that please.
I am enjoying getting to know other members of the Grizzly Reapers MC. Crash, Arrow, Bash, Bane and even Arrow all deserve their HEA. I am also insanely curious about alpha raven Zack and the mysterious vampire Thad.
There was a contradiction or two that threw me out of the story. We are told in the beginning that shifters, particularly alphas, aren’t really affected by alcohol. Then we are told later in the book that one of the alpha bears has a drinking problem. He’d have to be drinking truckloads of booze to be affected. Additionally, Zack is touted as brave and strong because he lost his mate and is still trudging forward. Then we are told that mates are tied together after they bond and one cannot survive without the other. So, I didn’t love these inconsistencies.
Still, I really enjoyed the story of Axel and Julian and I keep coming back for more from this author. Despite my nitpicky things, these stories get me every time. Broken omegas and the alphas he love them? I am all in.
Julien is a raven shifter and an omega. Several months ago he ran into an alpha wolf who seemed to be very interested in him. When the alpha asked Julien to take him back to the flock's land, Julien did. To his shock and horror, the visit ended in a massacre of the flock with few survivors. Julien and many of the survivors blame Julien for giving the wolves access to the flock. His flock alpha found Julien a hotel to live in away from the other flock members while he was searching for a new home. Julien has been suffering from guilt, depression, and panic attacks. Then his alpha makes a deal with the Grizzly Reapers MC. They would allow the flock to share their land in return for their help spying out the surrounding land for problems. Julien's alpha tells him that an alpha Grizzly bear shifter will come by and transport him to the flock's new place. Axel is terrified by the news and afraid of being close to a predator alpha. When he meets Axel, he learns that not all alphas are dangerous. Some can be kind and protective.
The Grizzly Reaper Mc is made up of bears who were kicked out of their clans for being too threatening or out of control. Together they have formed a new pack and they help others bears like themselves. Axel is very trusted in the MC and is third in command. His alpha has given him the job of picking up Julien, a raven shifter. Axel is warned that Julien is fragile since he was betrayed by the wolf alpha he thought might become his mate and was used to destroy a good part of the pack. Axel knows he might have to patient and understanding. Then he scents Julien and is very attracted to him. Axel quickly realizes that Julien is his mate but how is he ever going to get Julien to trust him?.

Preview Thoughts (Chapters 1-3): Axel picks up seamlessly from where Venom left off, diving deeper into the alliance between the Moon Burrow Bears and the raven shifters. The tragedy that struck the raven shifters casts a shadow over the story, particularly for Julian, a young omega grappling with the guilt of loss and heartbreak. His dynamic with Axel—a grizzly alpha—is an unlikely but intriguing pairing. The question isn’t just if they’ll find love, but how Julian will heal and grow through their connection.
Final Review: Axel strikes a compelling balance between mystery, and romance, offering readers a satisfying continuation of the Moon Burrow Bears series. The story keeps you engaged with its twists and turns, deepening the intrigue surrounding the bears’ world and their alliance with the raven shifters.
Julian’s character development is a standout element, as he evolves from a guilt-ridden omega to someone rediscovering hope and love. Axel’s gruff but protective nature complements Julian’s journey, and their slow-burn romance is both heartwarming and believable. Alongside the romance, the book provides more insight into the grizzly alphas and their tight-knit brotherhood, adding layers to the overarching narrative.
The action sequences and moments of suspense keep the story moving, making it more than just a romance. While the romance and character dynamics are engaging, the book remains consistent with the series’ tone: enjoyable, but not overly complex.
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️ 2/5 Axel delivers a solid mix of romance and action, with engaging character development and a storyline that holds your attention. The romantic tension is sweet, with some steamy moments, but it doesn’t overshadow the action and mystery. It’s a satisfying sequel that leaves readers curious for the next installment in the series.
- a MM shifter romance! bear x raven, omegaverse, fated mates, motorcycle club, MPreg, found family, hurt/comfort! - my heart hurts so much for Julian 🥺 - hardcore love their instant connection and how soft Axel is with Julian 🥹 - if these crows make Julian feel bad, i am going to lose me mind!! theyre being so horrible to him - Axel going to say goodnight was so frickin cute - i just want Julian safe and happy 😭 - it’s fucking me off that they’re like ‘you’ve been betrayed before and it cost us’ like HELLO?? you live on THEIR land - i really hated all the red chapters, he’s so freaky - also can i just say, the blurb is like ‘Axel has to convince Julian to be his’ they get together on day 2 lmao - he took him on a first date!! and it was so sweet - and the sex scenes are EXCELLENT, the bite mark freaks me out a bit tho like normally they describe it as pleasure but this one is all pain lol - we’ll i’m not gonna say Hanson deserved it but HE DEFFO DESERVED IT - but i didn’t like her but it was really sad about Gina :( - okay Zack and your vampire friend, i see you 👀 - the way he found out he was pregnant was very funny but very sweet - i’m gonna be honest the third act conflict was lil bit anti climatic? but only because the one in the first book was SO insane and SO violent, i expected it to be like that again - but it was very fun to watch Axel get fighty hehehe - and the birthing scene was so lovely!! and Crash was so funny bless him 😂😂 - and the epilogue was great!! i am so ready for the next one!!
As usual, this new book has the same problems as all the others with typos, missed words, transposed names, which drives me batty every time, especially as the stories are good and I want to read the next one each time because the characters worm their way in through the different series set in Moon Burrow until you're desperate to see them find their fated mate. Axel is the latest member of the Grizzly Reapers MC to find his fated mate and he is so sweet with him, it warmed my heart. Julian is broken, hurting and lost, expecting his life to be lonely and believing he deserved that after the tragic event that decimated his flock. When they meet, Julian is rightly wary but soon comes to realise that Axel is nothing like he expected an alpha to be. Axel was kind, understanding and patient, allowing Julian to come to him on his own terms, which was just what Julian needed. Watching Julian come out of his shell was great, his confidence and belief in Axel very satisfying after all he'd been through. Seeing Venom with his daughter, that cheeky little cub running rings around him, was so funny. The other members of the Grizzlies had their fun teasing Axel, whilst longing to find their own happiness as he and Venom and Mayhem have. Arrow, Bane, Bash and Chase are all candidates for their own stories but the next book is Zack and Thad, a raven and a vampire, and I can't wait to read it.
This is book 2 of the Moon Burrow Bears. You can read it as a standalone but you will get more enjoyment out of it if you read the earlier books first. This is the story of Julian Waller and Axel Howell. Julian is an omega raven shifter. Axel is an alpha bear shifter and member of Grizzly Reapers MC. Julian's flock had been attacked by wolves and were decimated. Scattered about until they found their new home. A home on the lands of the Grizzly Reapers. Zack, lead alpha of Julian's flock, arranges for a ride to their new home for Julian. A bear shifter will be bringing him home. Julian is slowly dying under the weight of guilt, fear and loneliness. Axel is the bear that his selected to ride down and pick up Julian. Inspite of his innate large size and gruffness, Axel takes great pains to ensure that the doesn't frighten or overwhelm Julian. And Julian challenges him to ensure that the alpha is telling him the truth. This is their story. The book is very well written and easy to read. I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. The chemistry between Julian and Axel is palatable. The slow burn build to their romance is refreshing. You will laugh out loud at some part. I really enjoyed this story. I loved this book and look forward to the next by this author.

Love heals. Julian is a raven shifter whose flock was decimated by rogue wolves attacking. He was injured and can't shift since. He is staying in a motel separate from the remainder of his flock and drowning in feelings of guilt that he brought the wolves to his flock's territory and terror that the wolf who attacked him will come for him again.
Julian's lead alpha makes a pack with bear shifters to live on their land in exchange for help patrolling. Axel, an alpha bear shifter, is sent by his lead alpha to pick up Julian and bring him to his new home.
Although Julian has serious trust issues with alphas since the attack, he warms up to Axel very fast. It was so nice to see how Axel was tremendously patient, understanding and sweet with Julian. He immediately becomes protective of Julian and puts him at ease. It doesn't take long for them to realize they are mates.
Lots of familiar characters from previous books and some new ones too support Julian and Axel as their love develops and together they tackle the lingering threat from the wolves and get their hea. A very sweet story.

This is the 2nd book in the Moon Burrow Bears series and I had been looking forward to reading it. I loved the story because it was very endearing to me how Axel, a rough looking Alpha could have a tender side for an omega like Julian when they first met. Love these type of stories especially when it comes to one MC helping another MC through his traumas. Looking forward to reading more in this series! I think it would be awesome if it was made into a TV movie series/movie series!
The story focuses on Julian, a raven-shifter who wasn’t able to shift due to a trauma that left his raven community in tatters and in hiding. The Alpha in the raven community was able to secure a safe location with the bear-shifting community in Moon Burrow. Axel, who we were introduced to in the first book was tasked to bring Julian to Moon Burrow. When Axel met Julian for the first time, Julian was fearful because of the trauma but willingly went with Axel on his motorcycle. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book to read to find out what the trauma was and what happened between Julian and Axel! 5 stars for me!
Omega Raven Julian, has endured so much pain - physical and emotional. Not having any experience with alphas, he was used as a pawn to take land from his flock and resulted in devastating losses of fellow shifters and property. As a result of his injury, he isn't able to shift - falling further into an emotional tailspin.
Now that his remaining flock has found a new home, alpha grizzly bear Axel, is sent to pick him up. Not knowing what he'll be getting himself into, he makes every effort to make Julian feel as comfortable as possible. In a surprising twist of events, Julian knows that he can somehow trust Axel. See in him a certain kindness. Axel is quite surprised with this development. Their close proximity only proves they are mates, but one day at a time.
While Julian and Axel build their relationship as mates and parents to be, their is a dangerous, looming threat that places both shifter families at risk.
So much to unpack in one powerful new series addition.

New beginnings are never smooth. Julian, omega raven was betrayed once before, by wolf, Howard so he is alert and wary of all Alphas now. He is scarred inside and on his arm and can't shift. Venom, asked Axel to retrieve Julian and bring him to where he will be safe. Zack the lead Raven Alpha didn't blame Julian for the decimation of half their flock, but many did. Zack and his brother, Spencer were looking for a new home for the flock, while temporarily seperating Julian from the angry flock members. The Grizzly Reapers are leasing Zack's flock land so they can start again. Julian, has a degree in Marketing, so he can make a good living without interacting with people. Julian, may have been a little bit broken, but he was no pushover. He gave Axel as good as he got. Axel has a steep hill to climb to help Julian feel comfortable with him. Does Axel have patience? Can Julian find his balance? Will he reconnect with his Raven flock? Do Alex and Julian team up to meet their challenges? Good story. Good support structures. Nicely done. Tragic The group of shifters that were introduced in the previous book that I'd only encountered once were Ravens. This book focused on the new shifters that were allowed sanctuary in the Moon Burrow lands of the Grizzly Reapers. In this book the viciousness of various types of shifters was demonstrated by the different shifters: they wiped out entire groups and took over their territories. Red Wolves attacked and killed most of the Raven flock. Axel a Grizzly Reaper member suffered a similar experience when his smaller Bear group was wiped out by a larger Bear clan. One of the Ravens was blamed for the decimating of their flock. He'd been savagely attacked Wolves, injured, rendered no longer able to shift, and fly. He was persecuted by the remaining Ravens. Axel a surprisingly patient Grizzly became the depressed Raven's protector. But the Red Wolves weren't done with the Ravens yet. I was very surprised to learn that the next in this series was actually from a different set of books by Fel Fern. Luckily I had already purchased it Raven Redeemed Moon Burrow Ravens Book 1. The Second of the Moon Burrow Ravens: Raven Bound is scheduled to be released May 18 2023

Julian was deceived by an alpha wolf shifter who brought destruction to his raven flock, who killed half of the ravens, destroyed their village and took their land. Being blamed for the loss of so many and being wounded left Julian utterly devastated. Zach, the raven alpha arranges for his people to stay in Moon Burrow with the grizzlies. Axel is given the task of bring Julian to his new home. From the first meeting both men feel comfortable and a connection. An old enemy comes to call who wants Julian for his own. No one is expecting this new threat, but when it happens, Axel is there to take care of it!
A HEA full is heat, so much emotion and strong men!
Bjo.
This was sweet yet steamy intense book that had me hooked right away. Julian and Axel were perfect for each other. Julian was really sweet and tries to have better look on life after tragedy hit his flock 6 months ago. Axel is supposed to be a fierce and dangerous alpha but around Julian he is all that and so much for. I really enjoyed the connection and chemistry between Julian and Axel. There is drama, steam, betrayal, death, love, and a really sweet and much deserved HEA. I can't wait to see what happens next with these dangerous yet lovable bears.

Book 2 gives us Axel's fated mate story. I really enjoyed this...you see a wonderful side to these grizzlys and I love the fact that they are getting their mates. Axel meeting Julian and their instant connection was nice to see. Axel was patient with the fragile omega and willing to wait to make Julian his...so this was somewhat a slow burn with some hurt/comfort going on...a little conflict/drama/violence thrown in to keep it interesting and rooting for our couple to have a satisfying resolution along with a sweet HEA. You get all that and more...plus a new addition to the den/flock...NICE!.

Julian is an Omega raven shifter who made a mistake trusting an alpha wolf that turned on him and slaughtered the majority of his flock. Now he can’t shift, wears his scars externally and internally, and is suffering survivor’s guilt from his unforgivable mistake. But when Axel, an Alpha grizzly bear shifter, enters his life, he somehow knows he can trust him. Axel has been asked to bring Julian home to the rest of the flock. Axel is immediately protective and will do what he can to help Julian heal. Will Julian be able to trust again, open his heart to his mate, and give love a chance?
Could Julian and Axel be perfect for one another Julian is not in a good place. He is a raven shifter and he’s lost his flock. They were killed by wolves but things are looking up when he meets Axel. It becomes obvious that they are mates and the changes in Axel are just Pure bliss. He turns into this lovely patient understanding loving grizzly bear shifter who will do anything to protect him it’s actually a really beautiful connection. They have such great chemistry. But nothing is ever smoothly will they be together at the end??.

When compared to the first book in this series it seems like this book was written by an entirely different person. The chapters were no longer labeled according to pov and pronouns were few and far between. In the first chapter alone Julian's name was used 50 times! Sometimes one sentence ends with Julian's name while the next sentence begins with his name. It made reading this book very difficult and I almost gave up in the first few chapters.
Hopefully, whatever happened with the writing of this book is a one off as I really enjoyed Venom and Casper's book and would like to continue with this series.
Ok, we're just going to state for the record that the writing in these is not "the best" but I'm obviously in it for the plot now so I'm ignoring the obvious mistakes and blatantly repeated words/names in favor of focusing on the story. I actually really liked Axel's and Julian's story. I was very interested in the introduction to the raven shifters and what their role would be. I was a bit disappointed I didn't really like any of them that much? This was also kind of insta-lovey, even for this series. I don't think they had even decided to date before Julian was like "bite me please." Overall though there was a cute love story, some high-stakes conflict, and some set up for future books.
This is a very sweet story. The characters are engaging. The secondary characters work well. It's amazing that last book's MC, Venom, is the comedy relief. These big tough grizzly shifters are truly giant teddy bears. When they aren't ripping the throats out or heads off the fools that threaten their loved ones. Not liking the whole lack of a beta reader/editor. Some of the grammatical errors DO take you out of the story. Overall, loving the series. And Fern is already preparing for at least one possible standalone for Zack.
