Combines archival photographs and researched text to present a history of Native Americans that covers their conflicts and struggles through their spiritual life and adaptations to contemporary America.
A wonderful book but a heartbreaking read. It's a bit of a pity to me that it focuses mostly on the militar conflicts and treaties with whites rather than on Native American culture, mentality, spirituality...
DNF halfway through. Found the layout of the book with the photos too hard to read. Was a bit all over the place like a child’s school project. Content was confronting to read but perhaps a better layout of the book, with less messy placement of words and pictures would make it easier to read
A good book to understand Native American history and pictures speak a lot. The speeches by Native American chiefs are thought provoking and take you to the times these natives lived.
This is a beautiful book, ideal for dipping in and out of. It contains some wonderful pictures and accompanying history and would make an ideal starting point for anyone considering making a study of these interesting people.
