Tiana Dìlleachdan was raised in a mage school. Her pointed ears and the lock of faelin hair she was found with make half of her parentage known, but the other half was kept secret—until she is chosen by high sorcerer, Rayven Niltsiar to be his apprentice. Tiana knows that the grumpy mage only wants her for her lineage, but something about the rare smiles she teases out of him makes her long for him to want more.
Rayven Niltsiar, former friend and now rival of the King, has been feared for centuries. He’d always refused to take an apprentice—until a beautiful mage with a secret lineage enters his nightmare forest for cooking herbs. With Tiana at his side, he will achieve his constant goals: accumulate more power.
But as the world of Aisthanesthai prepares for war and Tiana’s training progresses, Rayven comes to learn that there’s more to life than power—just as impending danger and revealed secrets place him at risk of losing Tiana forever.

I've read this twice now. I read it, forgot it, then decided I should re-read it so I could review it, and then I forgot it again. Thank you ADHD. Here I am skimming this shit for the third time to refresh my damn ass memory.
It's a fairly standard paranormal romance that reads a lot younger than it should with a FMC who is 24? At least 24. Anyways, Tiana is in mage school being bullied by mage Mean Girls and decides to be bad and go where she isn't supposed to and then bumps into the Grouchy Old Mage who she will eventually bang. Yada yada yada, happy ending. Nothing remarkable. Not remarkably good. Not remarkably bad.
I'll start by saying that I read the entire 393 pages in one sitting. I had a house full of chores but the story was that engaging. Tiana, the MC, of the book is incredibly likeable and you want her to succeed. I appreciate that though they mention she'd been bullied, I wasn't subjected to descriptions of that and her meeting with Rayven is a great slow burn. The writing style has a polish that comes from great editing and I'm really grateful that though this leaves plenty of room for sequels, that it reads as a stand alone. I didn't give it five stars as I was personally uncomfortable with the scenes with the wheel (no spoilers). It took me away from the story, and estranged me a little from the couple. I know some people will like it so judge for yourselves. In all, it is a great read and well created characters.
OH MY GOD! This book had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning! It was beautifully written though there was some spelling errors and mistakes. Otherwise I loved the book and wish it kept going on. The twists and emotion really complemented the story really well! I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is absurd. It's the first book I've read by this author, on a recommendation from a social media site (I can't remember which). I think maybe it's not meant to be ready as a standalone, because so much of the book refers to other people and stories.
That said: this book says with a straight face "the lead singer of a heavy metal band from earth is actually an immortal angel who saved the world with her beautiful voice and became the queen of this world... But still tours on earth". I do not understand how you can write "the lead guitarist for the band" in the middle of a book about fae magicians and not die of cringe. This is not to mention the age gap, the "misunderstood misanthrope" hero, the secret royalty orphan who btw has wings and can fly and also loves to cook and is so beautiful she had to make herself less attractive so as not to distract everybody, the demons being called hydras (but why??), the band returning magic to earth at their concerts, and the casual mention of sex mages.
However, I did keep reading it. I liked the two main characters together and there is a really nice love story at the heart of the book. This book needed a really good editor and to be set in a different world without all the irrelevant backstory, and I'm sad that wasn't what this was.

A three star rating on Goodreads means "I liked it". And I did. But it wasn't amazing and I certainly didn't love it. Think about small candy bar in a dish on a counter at your mother's house. You know it is going to be hours before you have a real meal but you feel a might bit peckish. So you grab the bite sized candy. Two bites later it's gone. Was it good? sure, it tasted fine. Are you going to even remember you had a candy bar after dinner? How about two days later? This book is that candy bar.
Orphan girl with special powers, raised by a magic school, is apprenticed to a powerful grumpy mage. Despite his grumpiness and vow to never be close to anyone, he's drawn to this young woman. She doesn't feel worthy at first and then comes into her power. You can fill in the blanks.
The only thing that bothered me about the whole thing was that if felt like book eight in a ten book series. Nothing was resolved with the big bad. So much was referenced with other characters that you were supposed to have met already that it felt like you walked into the middle of the conversation.
So ultimately not fulfilling as a meal, but can certainly hold you over
3.5/5 stars but since goodreads doesn’t allow for half stars, it gets bumped up.
After I saw the author confessing that this book was heavily inspired by our mutual favorite character, Raistlin from Dragonlance, I was super interested to check it out.
There are aspects of it I highly enjoyed while there were others I didn’t. I especially enjoyed the two main characters (the author did a good job capturing the inspirational essence behind the MMC while making this version entirely her own) and I (mostly) enjoyed the MFC, though at times she felt a bit like a teenager instead of in her 20s. What I didn’t like much was all the modern day Earth related stuff sprinkled in. I felt like those elements just detracted from the story and made it feel unnecessarily bloated and overly complicated. But whatever, I just rolled with it.
I’m glad I didn’t let it stop me from finishing the book as it was generally overall pretty good. I also want to add that it took me way longer than I care to admit that the MMC’s last name is just Raistlin spelled backwards. Kudos on the author for slipping that in!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Victoria editing co-op for giving me this ARC, and this does not influence my review. My review will be published on Goodreads, Instagram, and Amazon on September 15. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶 3.5 Dual 1st-person POV 👎🏾 This book was a paranormal genre set in a mage school, kind of reminding me of hogwarts. As students ascend in their alchemy, they get robes of a higher color (and black is the highest). This author provided great worldbuilding, and I’m glad I got to read a book like this containing magic. The infodump in the begging, however, was slightly overwhelming. The tropes in this book include: apprentice/mentor relationship, slow-burn romance, guy falls first, jealous guy Moving on to the romance😏. Rayven was a tall, dark, and handsome mentor who never took an apprentice, and chose Tiana as one (ofc). I loved their sarcasm and witty banter, and how Their chemistry was sizzling
I’m conflicted about this bad boy. It has much more urban elements than I usually like and I’m trying to judge it on what it is rather than what I wanted it to be.
The plot was serviceable, the characters were fine, and the various twists were pretty predictable. This has a fairly decent chunk of fantasy elements and the plot and fantasy managed to not disappear as soon as clothes came off. The magic system was serviceable but the worldbuilding was very confusing; based on looking things up this appears to be a sidequel to another series and I’m hesitant to judge the world based on that but it certainly was a bit rough to read as a stand-alone despite being marked as such.
On the romance front it was an odd mix of a quick-slow burn with some kinda silly miscommunication, which was a bit disappointing.
All told I read it quickly (1 day), so it was readable and enjoyable enough to earn that.
If you haven't read Brides of Prophecy series you might get confused with this one so I definitely suggest that. I really enjoyed reading about Rayven and Tiana. Tiana is strong willed and unafraid of pretty much anything but that's because of what she is. Rayven High Sorcerer has kept to himself for years and that's how he likes it. Until he comes upon a trespasser in his forest. He knows immediately what she is or at least suspects. He's presented with an opportunity to have her as his apprentice. He covets more power so why not? He's abrasive and cranky and Tiana is determined to make him proud. His plan backfires though because one touch and perhaps he's not going to be able to resist her afterall. There's a lot more to the story but you gotta read it for yourself.
Once I started reading To tempt a Sorcerer it was very hard to stop. The world building was excellent and the character development had you falling in love with how relatable they were. This story definitely left you wanting more. It was so well detailed, it felt like I was watching it while reading. If you are looking for an interesting love story that will make you feel, so many feels. Then I definitely would recommend To tempt a Sorcerer. I give it 4 out of 5 stars simply because I could not put it down.

I loved Rayven and Tiana's story. Tiana was fearless and Rayven was a suffering sorcerer. When Tiana becomes his apprentice she opens something in him that he fights a long time. He knows once everyone finds out her origins he will lose her. Their story flows nicely and it is so magical. Their world is magical and there is an evil force trying to take over. Rayven and Tiana's magic is very strong together. I enjoyed this romantic fantasy.
Tiana & Rayven This was a good story and I recommend if you are looking for a good fantasy romance. The world building and the story was great. I loved the characters, and think that they work well for this story. I do not do Spoilers, or repeat blurbs, give it a try. I Loved It!!! I received an ARC from BookSirens and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review because I Choose to and Love the Book!!!
I did not know what to expect going into this book but Raven and Tiana were amazing! Getting into Raven's head and seeing his perspective on everything definitely gave new insight to the entire series. The author has done an amazing job with the worldbuilding in this series and continues to build on it each time. She also does an amazing job with continuity and building INTO the stories she's already released. I'm so glad I found this series, it has fast become one of my favorite fantasy worlds.
Disclaimer: this is the first book of this author’s I have read. However, after reading it, I am now going to go buy more.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. I typically steer clear of anything dealing with academies or schools. I like to avoid things where the characters might come off as too young or immature, but this book didn’t have that vibe. Rather than giving the impression of being too young, the way the world is set up it felt like the students were more like grad students, becoming an apprentice to a senior sorcerer was like doing a residency or practicum in another field. So for that, I’m grateful to the author.
If you’re looking for spice, it’s there and any waiting and build up to it is absolutely worth it. I also enjoyed that there was a lot of compelling story going on and it didn’t feel like the writing sacrificed story for spice or vice versa. I enjoyed all the characters and the pacing of the story, it was a fun read and a fascinating setting.
Standalone romantasy novel that should've gone through at least one more round of editing. Decent, if predictable, build-up between the main characters, fairly good spice. Oh and of course all plot points hurriedly get resolved in the last 10% of the book. But hey, i got the ebook for free, so no complaints here.
