Jiffy Kate is winding down the Erickson series with Ozzi and Willow. If you love Big burly men that love their women and family with all they have then this is the series for you. Ozzi Erickson is the roaming brother; he is now in town for Cage's wedding. He has nowhere to be, so he decides to stay and help out at Viking MMA. Willow Bernard has been taking care of herself for years since leaving the foster system at 18. Now she is working at the local grocer, living in her little travel trailer and making the best of her situation. When a public dispute puts her natural talent/instinct on display it catches the attention of Viking MMA. This couple is thrown together by chance and soon they are peeling back the layers of each other. Willow is strong, independent, sassy and so vulnerable under that hard shell. Ozzi is not one for feelings, but he may have just stepped in some when Willow literally knocks him off kilter. When Willows already fragile world takes a hit, this strong loving family takes her into their fold. Get ready to fall in love with the Ericksons all over again! What a wonder end to the series and I am so sad to see them go. ~~Michele McMullen~~
Ozzi, the free-spirited (well, of a sort), laid back Erickson brother has rolled into Green Valley and he's about to get his socks knocked off. Not literally, although Willow does pack a solid punch. Nope, this is more of a metaphorical sock-knocking. Which sounds dirty, but isn't. Mostly.
Anywho. Ozzi's in town for Cage's wedding and he decides to stick around for a while. Why? Because he has nowhere else to be and he absolutely adores his new baby niece. When Cage puts Willow into his hands for training, he has a reasons to stick around. And the more time he spends with her, the less he wants to leave. (wellll, that might be an over-simplification. He still might think he wants to leave, but Willow sort of worms her way into his head and heart and he has to work his way around to realizing it.)
As for Willow, she suddenly has some life-changing things dumped in her lap. While some of those things are a shock, she steps up and makes the choice to do the thing she feels is right for someone who needs her. She also finds her groove (and her people) at Viking MMA and with Ozzi.
A lot of muscle-y family, a very cute baby, a guarded woman who finds her happy place when Ozzi is pushing her to excel, and an easy-going guy who finds his happy place with Willow. I have to say, I'm sad to say goodbye to the wild, sweet Erickson brothers, but BOY did I like seeing where they ended up.
'Knock Out' is a full-length contemporary romance and can be read as a standalone. Book #4 in the Fighting for Love series, Green Valley Chronicles, Penny Reid Book Universe.
The last Erickson brother in Green Valley? I wasn’t ready for this series to be over, but I really enjoyed this one like all of the others before it!
Ozzi Erickson is a wanderer, an explorer and a bit of a commitment-phobe. After the Ericksons sell their gym in Dallas, he makes his way to Green Valley to spend some time with his family and ends up helping out at Viking MMA, training new fighters. Ozzi isn’t a fighter himself, but growing up around it allows him to hold his own and his ability to read people makes him a great trainer. He’s sweet, funny, thoughtful and caring on the inside and tattooed and muscled on the outside - a great combination if you ask me.
Willow Bernard has been doing everything she can to make ends meet since aging out of the foster care system at 18. She made her way to Green Valley for a fresh start, living in a trailer outside of town and working as many hours at the Piggly Wiggly as they’ll give her. But she’s never done anything for herself, something just for fun. Finding out her mother passed away and she has a 9-year-old sister, Hazel, in foster care sets her on a course to find love, fun, enjoyment and support in places she never knew possible.
When they meet at Viking MMA, Ozzi is strictly Willow’s coach, no matter what they both feel for each other. Over the weeks of working together, Willow starts to open up to him, trust him and confide in him during one of the toughest times of her life. They form a bond based on friendship and trust that I loved before they considered being anything more for each other. He trains her to be stronger physically and mentally and she helps him realize that it’s okay to set down roots and explore with someone else, even after he blew it big time.
The star of this story was Hazel for sure - she was funny, adorable and not too over the top like so many children I’ve read lately. Her bond with both Willow and Ozzi was perfect and she really helped to bring the two of them together. And, as always, the entire Erickson crew including all of their significant others were so much fun to read. I’m sad that this Smartypants Romance series is wrapped up but looking forward to Viggo’s story and the new series by Jiffy Kate!
I will read Jiffy Kate’s books until the end of time (luckily there are still some back catalogue ones for me to go through)! I love these ladies and I love their writing! I’m destroyed that this is the last of the Erickson Brothers in the Smartypants Romance world!! I finished the last chapter and couldn’t come to terms with the fact that there’s still one more brother and no Green Valley book for him… though he isn’t in Tennessee so I guess there’s hope he could pop up elsewhere?!
Knock Out was so far from what I expected and from the rest of the series - but in a great way. I wasn’t sure during the first half because it was the slowest of slow burn romances and I wasn’t feeling the couple getting invested… It picked up and so quickly once we got over that hump, and the couple as well as all of the side (read: old) characters had excellent chemistry, until the good ol’ misunderstanding rears its ugly head.
Something extra great in this book is that the couple acts a lot more mature than so many other romance novels out there - Ozzi because of the family he’s from and the fighting discipline background, and Willow because of the terrible upbringing and how quickly she had to grow up, and what incredible role she’s taking on at age 22. The mature way they both tackle the conflict in this one is so well written and I was very impressed! I’m about ready for a re-read already. I highly recommend this one for everyone (though triggers need to be noted for parental loss, drug abuse, jail time and foster system).
I really loved that Willow got to train up as a female MMA fighter! Great addition to the plot and - girl power!
I received an advance review copy from Jiffy Kate and Smartypants Romance, and this is my honest feedback.
I love the Erickson brothers! Knock Out is the perfect love story with brotherly love, found family, and fighting for love!
Ozzi is a fun loving, go with the flow man with wanderlust. He secretly wants to find purpose and where he belongs. Willow is one of the strongest heroines that I've read! She's always been on her own with no one to rely on. I love how badass she is in the ring! Her and Ozzi start out as trainer and trainee, but they quickly become friends and then lovers. Willow doesn't trust easily but she knows from the beginning that Ozzi is a good person. After finding out that she has a young sister, Willow does everything she can to get custody of her. I love how Ozzi's family welcomes Willow and Hazel into their family!
Willow grows so much! She becomes more open to relationships and finds her passion. Ozzi grows too. He goes from wandering around looking for his next adventure, to finding that the best adventure is with Willow. I love his relationship with her sister too! Ozzi makes Willow feel loved and alive. She helps Ozzi find his greatest adventure. Their love is so sweet and steamy and worth the journey.
One restless soul, always looking for the next adventure, the other just looking for a place to call home, and someone to love them. Willow is starting to get her life on track after a rough childhood. She may not have much, but what she does have, she got all on her own. Ozzie has everything she wants. A large loving family, a job he loves and most importantly, a sense of fulfillment. When she gets the shock of a lifetime, she finds herself struggling once again. Enter Ozzie. He's literally thrown into the mix, acting as a trainer for Willow. There's an immediate attraction, but she has some pretty high walls guarding herself. Slowly he tears them down. Ozzie is a pretty great book boyfriend. He's caring and honest. He listens. He doesn't try to control everything. He's patient. Willow is a bit introverted, but tough as nails. She strong and independent, but not afraid to ask for help from those she trusts. (Though she does have some trust issues.) The two work well together and bring out the best in one another. Unfortunately, his wanderlust sets in and threatens to drive him away. There are a few humorous moments, but I wouldn't consider this a romcom. It has a more melancholy vibe, mostly due to her backstory and what she's currently going through. This book can be read as a stand alone, but there may be spoilers in regards to the other characters whom are featured in the previous books in the series. There is some sexual content, though only a few scenes. It alternates between POVs.
I STAYED UP ALLLLLLL NIGHT! I couldn’t put it down. It’s so perfectly written and fluid that you’re instantly sucked into this amazing family. It’s such a great way to end a series and I am really excited for the next “chapter,” pun intended. This is a sweet read that’s real and emotional but mature and healthy. Side note* I think Ozzie just stole the whole series. Okay, where to start… willow is a bad ass and I love her growth and strength. She’s not a typical heroine that needs saving but a woman forged from crappy circumstances and learned to survive. I think I love her more than Tempest which I honestly thought was impossible. Hazel, she’s going to need a whole series just so we can love her more and see where she goes. She’s going to be an even bigger bad ass as she gets older. She’s everything we didn’t know we needed. And Ozzie…. There are not enough words for how much I love him. He fits the roll of “book boyfriend” to a T and it’s going to be hard to let this one go. He doesn’t try to fix willows problems and lets her work through whatever it is while being her biggest supporter. He knows exactly when to make you laugh when things get overwhelming but also knows how to read a room. But most of all he shows how much he cares in all the small things he does for those he loves.
I’m going to miss the adventures of Green Valley but the anticipation for Fischer Falls is exciting. I’m ready for Viggo

Listen, I am a fan of Jiffy Kate’s, they write emotionally steamy stories with real people who make mistakes like we all do. Because of this, their stories are the ones that stay with you. And Knock Out will do that for sure.
What can I say about Ozzi, I mean he’s an Erickson, so the genetics are definitely in his favor. He’s strong, dedicated and he has a heart just waiting for the right person. When Willow walks into Viking MMA, his world gets flipped. There is so much more to this story, and you just need to read it and fall in love with these two.
All of our favorites are back and we not only get to see Ozzi fall, we get to see Willow get enveloped into the Erickson family and actually feel what it’s like to actually belong. The Erickson’s love hard and once they bring you into the fold you are a part of the family and their loyalty is something to see.
I’m telling you, if you haven’t read this series by Jiffy Kate, you need to, they are all standalones, but there’s nothing better than a series that at the core is about family and that’s what this series is. Just read them, I promise you will be glad you did.
I cannot believe this is the last book in the Viking MMA series!!! I'll start my review by saying that the authors are women after my own heart because they not only gave me an epilogue but they also gave me some amazing updates on the entire Viking MMA family and fingers crossed, they created some excellent starting points for future books.
About this book specifically - Willow is my girl crush. She is an independent woman trying to keep her head above water who finds this inner strength inside herself that sets her apart. Ozzi gave every other Erickson a run for their money with his mega swoon factor though. He is a beautifully flawed character but seeing how he navigates that and comes out of the other side was a great read.
The author's did not shy away from difficult topics and the idea of a broken home but they gave the reader hope.
The story was one of those that I did not want to put down but it was a real page turner. You can read this as a stand alone but if you read the earlier books, you will get lots more context. Either way, I highly recommend this story!
This book, fourth in the Fighting For Love series by Jiffy Kate, was the perfect ending to this wonderful series of books. The awesomeness of this book was really no surprise to me because I will truly read ANYTHING this writing duo produces, their books are THAT good.
From the first page, I was fighting for Willow. So strong, so determined, I knew she was going to be a heroine that I admired through the entire book. She had soooo much to overcome and still managed to make all the right decisions every single time, from wanting a sister she didn’t even know to letting the man of her dreams go, she did everything right. All the while finding her strength by honing in on her natural talent of MMA fighting! It was refreshing. Ozzi, with his sweet heart (albeit wandering), was a perfect match to help her overcome all of her struggles. From first friends to finally lovers, he helped her blossom into someone she deserved to be.
There was also a nice level of spiciness to this book. I could feel the tension as Ozzi and Willow found their way to each other and their feelings for each other left me with such a warm, satisfied feeling…all the way to the epilogue. It really was the perfect book.
Added note…I especially loved the Erickson Family Update after the epilogue and I can’t wait to see where Viggo’s book is going to take us!
Troupes- Grumpy/ sunshine, Small town, MMA, Protective alpha hero
CW- death of a parent, off page drug and alcohol abuse
This the last in the fighting for love series did not disappoint! This story had so much to love, we’re back in Greenvalley with the whole Erickson clan and they are so supportive and loving! Ozzi proves himself to be a sexy protective hero while Willow tries to rebuff his affections and help. Willow is the bad ass lady fighter we’ve all been waiting for.
I loved Willow from the off and knew she was going to make me cry. Every time she cried I cried with her. She’s had a tough time of it, and she’s determined to break the pattern. I loved the way Ozzi loved her at first sight and then preceded to lie to himself about it. I loved Ozzi and his just purely good guy perception on things he may have some wanderlust and player tendencies but he would never intentionally hurt anyone.
As always Jiffy Kate deliver their patented slow burn with plenty of steamy and spicy times to fog up those reading glasses.
This was a wonderful ending to the Fighting for love series here in Green Valley but fear not! Viggo will get his HEA! I can not wait for the new Series Jiffy Kate have planned!
Knock Out by Jiffy Kate is another Erickson brother Ozzie, who’s the oldest. This was a slow burn for Ozzi and Willow. There’s an instant attraction but, there are many obstacles to overcome. This story was addictive and heartwarming! I’m really sad this is the end of the Erickson brothers in the Smartypants Romance. All 5 of them have been a real joy to read.
I was so excited to be able to read this book early and it did not disappoint. I have adored every book in this Smartypants series, and Knock Out was no different. Willow is such a fighter, in all aspects of her hard life, so it was just perfectly fitting that she met Ozzi. I really enjoyed their story. I also loved all the times I got to check in with the rest of the Erickson brood. Yay Jiffy Kate!!
Endings are bittersweet. I have loved this series from the beginning. This series is how I found Jiffy Kate. I will never forget stumbling onto The Donner Bakery series from Smartypants Romance. I devoured all the novels in order. Green Valley is my favorite fictional town. As an East Tennessee girl, it just feels like home. The characters are familiar. If I could visit a fictional town, I would go to Green Valley.
This installation to the Fighting for Love series. I enjoyed getting to know Ozzi and Willow. I love how the story focused on a female fighter this time. It was a very "Girl Power" story. It was a touching story how Willow took on the custody of her sister, and how she finally got the family she always desired.
I definitely look forward to the spinoff series that was hinted in the 5 year epilogue.
I received an ARC from @SmartyPantsRomance today. This was another wonderful love story in this series. I have enjoyed reading about all these brothers and I hope we get a story for Viggo in the future as well. The epilogue was great and very appreciated. I definitely recommend this series.
If you love found family sports romance, I would definitely recommend this book!
Hands down, I love that Willow (the heroine), becomes an MMA fighter. In a lot of sport romances we only have the hero in the sport. It’s so refreshing to see the heroine having that opportunity! And Willow is absolutely amazing. The confidence and growth she has in this book is top notch.
Willow’s back story definitely tugged at my heart, her new relationship with Hazel was like a hug. Ozzie did a great job of being supportive as they navigated their new life together. Ozzie definitely redeemed himself at the end of the book when he went to the person that needed him most first.
Seeing all the Viking MMA brothers again was a perfect way to end this series. But do not fret, Viggo’s story is still coming, but will be part of a separate series. I cannot wait!
Willow came to this small town for a redo. She kind of keeps to herself, thanks to having grown up knowing she can't really trust others, and has walls of steel built up. When she finds her way to a local gym that, among other things, trains fighters, she just might have found a group of people to call family.
Ozzi's the laid back wanderer in his family. He's a free spirit who doesn't do commitment, but when he's tasked with training a tough new potential fighter at his family's gym, commitment is starting to look more enticing than it ever has. If he wants a real shot at being with Willow (and a very special someone else) though, he'll have to choose to stick around, not run like he's used to.
Knock Out is a truly slow burn reverse grumpy/sunshine story with depth, heart, and a whole amazing cast of lovable characters. I love how hard Ozzi worked at gaining Willow's trust, allowing her to feel comfortable being vulnerable with him. She had not had it easy, but Ozzi was finally able to prove to her that there are good people out there, and that the love she'd been denied her entire life was just waiting for her. I'm sad knowing this amazing series has come to an end, but at least they saved the best brother and the best couple for last.
I know I’ve said that before about a book, recently in fact and one from the Pennyverse, but this one kinda went above and beyond for me. MC’s I adored from the start. That family dynamic that makes my heart all kinds warm and wonky and so many ovary popping moments…it was all here. Knock Out gave me everything and then some.
Willow and Ozzie were freakin’ awesome! Willow is a survivor and because of her past, has walls a country mile high and wide surrounding her, but she has a huge heart and watching as she starts to let the walls down and let the goodness surrounding her in was nothing short of amazing. Ozzie is a sweetheart and there is an honesty to him that made it easy to not just like the man, but fall for the guy.
Their journey to their HEA was slow burn goodness. I love watching them become friends and the grapple with catching feelings for each other ~ something neither was prepared for ~ and how they worked through the various bumps in the road that they faced. Now, the “big” bump wasn’t a surprise, though the aftermath had me growling a bit, but even then they both did things that showed just how much they did get each other and I just really loved how it all turned out for them in the end.
So, yeah, I freakin’ loved hanging out with the Erickson’s ~ well, most ~ and just seeing how they are all doing in their various relationships. There are some issues that could be triggers for some, but they are important to the story and the growth of the characters. And though this is the last book for this particular series, there is still one Erickson left standing and from the moments we do get with Viggo, I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye out for his book and find out who will bring the man to his knees!

Knock Out certainly doesn't hold back any emotional punches. Everything Willow has overcome, her fight for her sister Hazel, and her unexpected journey becoming an MMA competitor, plus the slow-burn for Willow and Ozzi make it a faced-paced emotional, sweet and steamy read with great humor and tons of heart.
I especially loved having all of the Fighting for Love series characters included. The bonus epilogue for the whole Erikson clan is great and not enough! I'll be eagerly anticipating the new series Fischer Falls (coming soon) for Viggo's (the oldest Erikson brother) story.
What a good ending to one of my favorite Smartypants series! Jiffy Kate’s Fighting for Love series follows four of the oversized Erickson brothers and their MMA Gym in small town Green Valley, Tennessee.
Ozzi Erickson is somewhat new to town, having followed his brothers who are all living out their HEAs. He’s tasked with training new fighter Willow, my new favorite Jiffy Kate heroine. Willow is so strong and independent, with a heartbreaking past the authors did a great job exploring.
It was a sweet romance with some spice thrown in, and I really enjoyed them together! It was also great seeing all the couples from the previous books. I loved how the girls welcomed Willow to their fold, giving her the found family and close friendships she’s always desired but wasn’t sure how to procure.
My favorite part though was Willow’s relationship with her sister and watching it grow through the book. I also really enjoyed Ozzi’s relationship with her so maybe I’m just a Hazel fan!
This was an enjoyable addition to the Smartypants world and I’m sad the series is over! I am looking forward to the spin off series though!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Y’all…Knock Out was just perfection! With each book I’ve fallen more and more in love with the Erickson brothers. Ozzi & Willow might be my favorite couple. Each of their journeys to find a place to belong and be happy was enchanting. I just wanted to hug Willow from page 1. She’s so tough, but watching her learn to open up and let others in had me crying with happiness. (And certain scenes with Hazel had me bawling 😭) Seeing Ozzi realize he could be the man he always wanted to be was so moving. Ozzi & Willow will have you swooning and falling in love with them!
This was a really great story of 2 people who like to run, but one has finally found a home and the other is spooked by how they feel. Throw in some girl power strength and you have a really great read. It was hard to put this book down. Great bunch of friends and amazing family.
It feels like all the Green Valley series are coming to a close, Its Vitter sweet but what a great way to go. Willow and Oozi were perfection, was excited for a female fighter and this one really tugged on the heart strings. I loved seeing Willow open up and them growing as a couple. Can't wait for this one to come out in audio, I k ow it will make me cry, in a good way
I’ve liked other books by this author duo and their writing style in general works for me, but this one was so painfully sweet (and dull), I thought I would get a toothache. Both protagonists were boring af. I had read the first 3 books in this series and they were not bad at all, but I’d been putting this one off for a while. I liked the idea of the FMC being an MMA fighter but did I mention the story was dull? There was a lot more telling than showing and that made it even more boring.
I was provided an ARC via the author and Smartypants romance, all opinions are my own.
This appears to be the final book in the Fighting for Love series, but you can read it as a standalone. The same is true with the previous books. If you want to get to know the rest of the Erickson brothers and their significant others, I highly recommend reading the rest of the series. I'm sad that this series has come to a close, but I look forward to reading more from Jiffy Kate, I love this writing duo and have quickly become a fan of their work through their Green Valley Chronicles.
This follows Willow, a twenty two year old who has been put through her paces. She's bounced around the foster care system and has been on her own alot longer than any young person should. She makes ends meet in Green Valley working at the local grocery, but when she get some surprise news she needs to make some additional income. She attempts an audition at the local strip club, but when that doesn't quite pan out she finds herself at Viking MMA taking classes and training to be an MMA fighter. While that doesn't solve her income problems, it taps into her natural talent. It also introduces her to one of the younger Erickson brothers, Ozzi who has been assigned to be her trainer. Ozzi is in town visiting his family after they all relocated from Dallas to Green Valley when his older brother opened the MMA studio. Ozzi is a good trainer, but he can't deny that Willow is attractive and he wants to get to know her. He quickly realizes as he gets to know her that he can't begin a relationship if he isn't staying put for good. The more they train together and spend time together their relationship turns into something more.
This was an emotional story. It brought me to tears several times. Keep some tissues handy, you are going to need them. Willow's story is a tough one, especially as she tries to reconcile her feelings regarding her past. I don't want to spoil too much about the story because it is so powerful. She is a warrior and I love her! From her dedication to training to always trying to do the right thing while still protecting herself. I thought she and Ozzi were great together, it just took him a bit longer to figure out what path he wanted to walk. The diner scene when he goes to visit his big brother to get his head figured out was precious. I thought the character development between Ozzi and Willow was awesome. Willow had alot going on in this book and she handled it with so much grace.
Did I mention this was a very emotional read. There are mentions of foster care, addiction, abandonment, a death of a parent. If you are looking for a good emotional read that also has some good banter and some fun moments with a hoard of Viking MMA fighters check this one out.
The fourth book in the Fighting For Love series by Jiffy Kate is here with Knock Out, so be ready for an emotional read that might just knock you over with Ozzi and Willow's story. Willow is a young woman that has experienced too much hurt and pain for her young age and still knows how to stand tall and strong, while Ozzi is most definitely an Erickson with his viking looks but a wanderlust heart. But when these two get together, it seems like their souls speak to each other in way that calms and soothes the other. I have loved this entire series but this story was one that hit my emotional core and made me love these characters that much more. This writing duo always manages to deliver a read better than the last with characters that I want as my BFFs, a story line that always his home in one way or another, and a small town that I want to move to today. Well done and I cannot wait for what is next from Jiffy Kate.
I loved being back in Green Valley. Getting that small town comfort. Being back with the Erickson’s. The Viking like creatures. I love how much the small town helps each other. I love how welcoming the whole Viking MMA clan is. How easily they welcomed and made Hazel and Willow family.
This book has some heavy emotions in it as well. Willow was so strong as she navigated her dealt cards. She did it with Grace! I loved the relationship she built with Hazel.
Now to Willow and Ozzi. Whew! The had sparks and flames from the beginning. I loved them together. Loved that although the sparks they took it slow. Ozzi was so considerate of Willow and what she was going through. The ending of the book was perfect!
