Rating based on my memory of how nine/ten year old me felt about this book. Probably the first time I encountered free verse, and initiated my love for poetry (I had my Rosetti phase soon after). I can still recite Storms in its entirety, and I still remember the imagery of Cloudy Fall Days, and I think it was Elegy for Grandma with the last line, "I wear her love around my neck".

I’m not currently writing poetry - but this book is great at showing you examples of different types - written by students. I wonder if my 5th grade teacher would be surprised to know I still have this book almost 30 years later lol :)

Contains a great list of student poems for examples. This is a good book to have in a poetry writing classroom for the kids to read.

This book was interesting because you were able to read poems from high school students.
