Witchcraft for the Home
3.5 Stars

I really enjoyed the first part of this book. We look more at the history and understanding of what house magic is and how to make your house a home. This book is very informative, and I learned a lot from history. However, this is the first book I've read by this author and on the topic of witchcraft. I enjoyed it from a beginner's standpoint. But I don't know how it stacks up for advanced readers that are practicing house magic. I appreciated alternative rituals that do not require burning herbs or sage. I'll likely use them going forward. At different times a year, I have allergies and cannot stand many scents. The second half of this book focuses on spells and rituals, which are pretty straightforward.

Overall, I enjoyed learning something new with this book. I also liked how the artwork was cohesive throughout the book, it felt welcoming. Thank you, NetGalley and Callisto Media, for an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

An interesting book that takes a look at witchcraft for the home. This book ended up being different from what I expected and I found it quite interesting. Perfect for beginners, the book starts out with a explaining witchcraft for the home, explaining the benefits and along with also explaining different topics that go along with witchcraft such as the seasons, planets, astrological signs, lunar phases and elements.

The book proceeds to help prepare the home for magic, explain the different tools needed, and covers how to transform your home with witchcraft. And of course, the book is filled with spells, rituals, remedies and even charms for a magical home.

I enjoyed this book, I found the explanations interesting and enjoyed that so much information was included. From the elements to the deities, all the benefits and just the basics that many books skim over quickly. The book is bright, has a airy feel to the designs and illustrations and overall a good read. I definitely feel it is geared towards beginners, although that doesn't mean those more experienced with magic wouldn't enjoy the book (they might just skip over a lot of the introduction and explanations). There are multiple spells, rituals, charms and remedies for each topic, such as cleansing the home and purifying the home, protecting the home and more.

If witchcraft for the home is something that interests you, take a moment to check out this book and see if it might be what you are looking for.

Thank you to NetGalley and Callisto Media for the DRC!

Witchcraft for the Home is a book about what magic in the home is, why it's essential, and how to prepare for it. The first couple of chapters are filled with great information and history about witchcraft within the home. This section gives a great foundation, while the latter portion of the book is a grimoire with various spells, rituals, and recipes that cover purifying, protecting, energizing, and blessing the home.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! As a witch who is a total homebody, I appreciated all of the information and spells on how to build a magical practice that fully incorporates your home. Even as a seasoned witch, I still find little bits of information in this book that I didn't know (like charming your furniture)!

One of my favorite parts of this book was that the author included a section for Key Takeaways at the end of every chapter. I liked seeing a shortened list of all the chapters covered in a way that was easy to read. I also appreciated that many spells and rituals were short and utilized ingredients most witches carry within their homes.

Overall, this is an excellent book for beginners and seasoned witches alike and would make a great addition to every witch's bookshelf!

Book is OKAY. Not the most comprehensive book on house witchery. Author gives suggestions such as "Enjoy the small moments" but doesn't take suggestions any further.

I would recommend "The House Witch" over this book because Arin Murphy-Hiscock delves into many different topics which aren't discussed in this book and in more depth. This book may be okay if you read another house witchcraft book as a primer and are looking for more spells and rituals on house witchcraft. The majority of this book is spells rather than actual information on house witchcraft.

The author also discusses his use of the words "house" and "home," and uses the terms interchangeably for the most part, but I was surprised that he doesn't discuss the actual differences between the meaning of the words.

Witchcraft for the Home is a great starter book for anyone interested in learning, like myself. You are given the chance to read and understand the history of witchcraft with the beginning of this book. Throughout the book there are cleansing rituals which I hope to use in the future. This is my first book about witchcraft for your home, I will take this as learning lesson and a chance to do some research to see how this pans out.

Thank you NetGalley and Callisto Media for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC! I enjoyed this book a lot. The first part was more of a history and an understanding of what house magic means, and the later part contained spells. I enjoyed that a lot of the spells in this book had a background on when/how it was used and the history associated with it. I will definitely be using this book a reference in the future.

This book is a thoughtful approach to keeping a home ready for witchcraft. While it isn't brand new, I love the author's variety of approaches and the way she divides up the book. My home is rarely craft ready. So, I am thrilled to have some tips for focusing on making my home cleansed and protected.

This is a good one, written to help you use your powers to make your home all it can be. I often call upon my ancestors as they are the foundation of my life and I like that the author calls them your magic allies. If you want to make your home all that it can be, this is a good read for you.

I enjoyed the explanations, history, and descriptions that were presented at the beginning of the book. Interspersed through the book were lovely drawings that really added to the home-ness. The rituals included truly do incorporate a kitchen vibe.

I like the history that’s explored at the beginning of the book. It’s great for someone either just starting out with witchcraft or has not delved into witchcraft for specifically around the home.

There are a vast array of spells in Part II which I am looking forward to giving a go!

I loved this book. It was informative and easy to read and understand. Tons of reference material for spells and I appreciate that most of them are using easy to obtain items. I initially read on KU, then ordered a physical copy for reference.

It's fine. It's bad by any means, but as other reviewers have stated there are better books on the topic. I'd recommend both The House Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock or Scott Cunningham's Magical Household before this book.
