Oh this one was very hot, very intense and steamy. Both Elon and Mykel very such a sweet couple, I liked their dynamic and how they found to each other as mates.
This whole mating part was really beautifully written. But i have to say that the build up dragged on a little bit and the end of this book was for my taste too rushed. Nevertheless I enjoyed this book!

I must go read the rest of the books in this series now - this was the first I read and it was just spot on for me!

Elon and Mykel meet at Omega Island, a therapy treatment resort for those omegas with sexual heat disorders of any kind, a place where omegas go when all else has failed to help them. Elon is struggling because he has not had a heat since his husband died 3 years earlier. Mykel is his assigned surrogate and therapist.

Elon tries hard to be perfect, because his deceased husband Coah demanded it. He wants to look perfect, act perfect, and perform perfect because he believes that's what's expected of him as an omega. Through wonderful communication and emotional connections, Mykel starts to pull details from Elon that reveal how unfortunately dysfunctional his previous marriage was. The author's depiction of the grief that Elon is working through is heartbreakingly realistic - you can feel Elon's struggle to find himself after submitting for so long to Coah while also feeling guilty for wanting to move on and have a new family of his own.

Mykel is what I would hope any good therapist would be like - his attention to detail is always on, and his caring for Elon is evident in how he listens to him and provides support when needed. The scene when Elon first just wants to look at Mykel was one of the best in the book - powerful and emotionally charged. You could feel Elon working to break out of shell that he had placed around himself. He confronts the feelings of neglect he felt with Coah, while still recognizing that he did love Coah and allowed him to take charge always.

I highly recommend this book - it's my favorite combination of a protective caregiver helping to deal with past hurts through a strong emotional bond and steamy chemistry. I will be going back and reading the previous books in the serious as soon as I'm done writing this review! Amazing 5/5 star read that will go on my favorites list!

Elon heads to Omega Island for its unconventional treatment when his heats disappeared after his husband’s death three years ago. He’s trying to move on with his life, figuring out what things make him happy. Mykel is Elon’s surrogate and therapist while he’s on Omega Island but he’s also working to overcome some heartbreak from his past that’s affecting his abilities to do his job.

Elon and Mykel’s relationship development was really sweet - Elon had a lot of emotional trauma from his past to overcome and Mykel is right there to help him figure out what he deserves. Their bond starts to form before they even realize it and it heals them both in ways they didn’t anticipate. It was sweet and easy to read but also tackles some difficult topics like grief and guilt.

Broken Heat is the second book in the ‘Omega Island’ series. It stars Elon, an omega, and Mykel, an Alpha sex surrogate. This is told in first person from both Elon and Mykel’s povs.

I received an ARC copy from the author. I am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Omega Island: Broken Heat by Wendy Rathbone is the second book in their new alpha/omega series.

This book is centered around Mykel who's having problems performing with other clients, and who also wants to start a family and find his mate. Mentally he thought he would have more time, he was still young. But his body seemed to have other ideas.

Elon is at Omega Island to hopefully try to bring back his heats. After his "mate" passed away his heats went right along with him. After three years with no heats and with nothing else helping his therapist prescribed Omega Island. He's hoping this will work because he really wants a mate and kids. How can he possibly have kids of his own if he can't have a heat?

This book then goes through and shows how these two met each other and the relationship they formed while getting to know each other. Elon somehow triggered Mykel's rut which then led to them breaking the rules to be together. I have to say that Wendy knows how to write really good books, their books are always so detailed. I mean the description of the island in these books makes me feel like I'm right there with them. I can envision the dolphins out in the ocean and hearing the waves crashing against the rocks, it's truly beautiful. Wendy's characters and plots are always really well written as well. And as much as I loved the first book I didn't love this one as much.

I just couldn't get behind these characters for some reason, I couldn't stand what Coah did to Elon, I understand that Elon didn't really get how borderline abusive Coah was to him but I just couldn't stand his character. Even the ghost of one.
I also felt like some of this was rushed while other parts felt slow.

Overall a good read, this one just wasn't my cup of tea. That's how it goes with some series, you can love and adore some characters and then you can just not like others. I still recommend this book to anyone who wants to be taken to an island Oasis where there is Omega's needing help and Alpha's ready to service them.

*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*

Elon’s husband died three years ago. Since his death, Elon has not had a heat. He yearns to get his heats back, have a normal life and have children. When other treatments fail to bring back his heats, his doctor sends him to Omega Island, a treatment facility that specializes in both emotional and physical therapies to help all manner of Omega issues.

Mykel is a therapist on Omega Island, an alpha, who is assigned as Elon’s therapist. Although he is dealing with some issues of his own, he is dedicated to helping Elon. As they spend time together, talking about Elon’s experiences with his late husband, a bond begins to form between the two. When Mykel goes into rut unexpectedly, Elon is frantic to help him.

This book deals with grief and loss in a manner that is sensitive and compassionate. The author navigates the death of a partner as well as the loss of a friendship with honesty and grace. As Elon and Mykel navigate their way toward each other and their HEA, they each help the other through the difficult emotions that surround grief and loss.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are easy to love, they are a bit
broken and determined to be better versions of themselves. This book is sweet, steamy, sexy and very satisfying.

Overall Opinion
This was my first introduction to omegaverse and I fell in LOVE with the genre! I will admit, being new to omegaverse I did have to look up what certain things meant, but that was all part of the fun! In this book, we follow omega Elon who is grieving the loss of his mate and has experienced the loss of his heats and seeks therapy on Omega Island, a therapy resort for omegas who are experiencing heat issues. Here he meets his alpha therapist Mykel, who is instantly intrigued by his new patient and is willing to try anything to help him get his heats back. We slowly see Mykel break through Elon's barriers and make him see that he deserves so much than he recieved in the past when it comes to love. Seeing these two fall for each other and finding out they are infact, each others fated mate, was so sweet and sexy and fun, and left me feeling so happy they got their happy ever after! Overall this was such an amazing read and opening to the world of Omegaverse and I am definitely going to read the rest of the Omega Island series!

Broken Heat is book 2 from the Omega Island series from Wendy Rathbone.

Whyyyy are there only 2 books from this series? I need more!

This short book (about 180 pages) was absolutely delightful. Both Elon and Mykel are grieving. Elon, from the lost of his mate, and Mykel, from losing a dear friend who found his own mate. Elon is the one getting therapy but clearly, both men need each other to heal.

Even though it was Elon who lost his heat after his mate died, I LOVED how the author shifted the focus on the Alpha side of it all (hello rut!!!) and how Mykel clearly needed Elon like his next breath. Their connection was so strong, it was like they were one.

I got attached to these two very quickly and felt deeply for each, as I learned, page after page, how they came to be who they were. My heart was particularly hurting for Elon, as he was struggling with his grief and guilt over his deceased mate (we don't really like Coah anyways :P).

As it was with Empty Heat, the last chapters of Broken Heat were.. well, HEATED. Wendy's details during the intimate relations between the two MCs are just plain explosive. I couldn't get enough.

I recommend this series and cannot wait to read what's next.

Omega Island: Broken Heat is a wonderfully written story about Elon, an omega who has lost his mate and in need of help, and Mykel, an alpha working on Omega Island who has been in need of help of his own. Mykel and Elon are perfectly matched. Both have been grieving a loss and their bodies have been affected. I found Elon so relatable. All he wanted was to be the perfect omega for his mate and when his mate passed, he lost a part of his identity. His trip to Omega Island was to help him reclaim a part of himself that I don't think he thought belonged to him while he was mated. Mykel was experiencing his own loss and through his working with Elon they both discovered new things about themselves. Elon and Mykel are beautiful together and they both deserve happiness and someone who will be there, care for, and love them. I loved it when Elon took charge and followed his instincts. I really enjoyed this book and it's definitely on my favorites list. I recommend this book and series and can't wait for more.

Broken at first but by tale's end in this 2nd book of the Omega Island series each man connects their lives in a "full circle". Here we find 2 men each with burdens to bear but find fulfillment in each other. The burden of grief is totally relatable as far as Omega Eloe's situation of distress at the death of his Alpha mate Coah is concerned and Ms. Rathbone addresses this emotion with a total honesty that anyone who has lost a loved one can understand. All the while Alpha Mikel's sexual surrogacy role on Omega Island is, in his opinion, in jeopardy, because of his inability to connect with those omegas he's been assigned to, to overcome their problems and not able to help restore their needed sexual healing. A very interesting side character, but an important one, is Senta, the mysterious owner and operator of Omega Island. This is an emotional trek in reaching a loving and lasting connection into their shared future. This is my voluntary review for the complimentary book I received.

I need a week or two at Omega Island ❤️

This is book 3 in the Omega Island series. I was excited to read this latest addition and it did not disappoint.

Senta, mysterious director and owner of Omega Island

Mykel, alpha, sex surrogate at Omega Island

Elon, omega, patient at Omega Island

Omega Island, is a private tropical island in the Caribbean, home to a specialized facility for treating omegas with heat issues.

Elon's last hope hinges on the help he will receive on Omega Island. He hasn't had a heat cycle in 3 years, since his mate of 5 years died. Mykel, is the alpha sex surrogate assigned to help Elon. Elon is Mykel's first patient after a month off with therapy. Can these two work through their issues together?

I'm hoping for at least one more book in this series. We definitely need to see Senta get his HEA.

This book is told in first person double POV. High heat, hurt/comfort, lots of emotion, fated mates with a HEA.

This was all right.

My willing suspension of disbelief was affected by one MC being called Elon. It could be worse, I suppose, he could have been called Donald. I would have had to contact GRR and tell them that I could not review their ARC.

Look, what is the thing with tropical islands? The tropics just mean hot and humid with lots of creepy crawlies and sand. If I was a wounded male omega, I'd want my therapeutic paradise to be a nice ski lodge in winter. Glüwein!

*sigh* anyway:

Omega Island is where Omega's go to heal problems with their heat through sex things basically. Elon (!) goes there due to things not working properly since the death of his spouse. Mykel is his therapist. He's got mild issues too.

Rathbone does a nice job depicting someone recovering from a bereavement and processing that their marriage hadn't been that great really. They did a good job of showing and not telling what had happened and what was happening in the story.

Elon and Mikel 🔥❤️🔥

I'm am loving this series so far!

Elon and Mikel were so sweet together, connected in grief and bound by fate....Elon is sent to omega island as a last ditch effort to restore his missing heats after the loss of his mate.....there he meets his therapist Mikel, who is suffering from his own recent loss. The chemistry between these two is instant and neither can quite understand the pull to one another, there is a gentleness and immediate bond between Elon and Mikel that was really endearing, Mikel tries his hardest to remain professional and not let this personal draw get in the way of his job however, the pull is just to strong to resist...rut happens, sparks fly, knotty times are had and a realization that they are fated mates is the sweetest conclusion to Elons therapy leading them to the cutest HEA ever!!! I would most definitely recommend this one!!

* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *

A sensitive and compassionate approach to dealing with loss and grief is taken throughout the course of this book. The author deals with the passing of a loved one as well as the dissolution of a close friendship in an open and sympathetic manner. As Elon and Mykel make their way toward one another and their happy ending, they are each other's support system as they work through the challenging feelings that come with bereavement and loss.
This was a book that I found to be very enjoyable. The characters are relatable in that they have flaws but are determined to become stronger versions of themselves despite those flaws. This book is sugary, steamy, sexual, and provides a lot of satisfaction all at once.  I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This was a great addition to the series and I think it was one of my favourites so far; I loved how Elon and Mykel just seemed to click quite naturally. They both had issues to work through and it just moved at the right pace- the build up between them wasn't rushed but there was still plenty of steam and heat too! I liked how Mykel gradually uncovered more and more about Elon and his past mate as it really gave an insight into things too. It was clear that they were a good match and I couldn't put it down in places, I was just hooked in seeing them get their HEA. I really hope that Senta gets his story soon as he seems to be the backbone of Omega Island but is always the bridesmaid, never the bride! Overall, a great, steamy MM romance set in a world with alphas and omegas. If you like this genre then I'd definitely recommend this book.

BEAUTIFUL!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!

This is Book #3 in this OMEGA ISLAND SERIES!! These are AMAZING Books that can all be read as stand alones. Elon is a troubled Omega who has gone to the Island for answers. Mykel is his surrogate Alpha who has been chosen to help him through his unusual problem. If only such a MAGNIFICENT place existed in this real world. Our difficulties would be easier to cope with. This is the BEST Book so far!! So many delicate feelings are at stake. This Book dealt with each stage with care and deep consideration. It really is a BEAUTIFUL, encouraging story. I fell deeply in love with both these characters. WENDY RATHBONE has given us another Book to cherish. Thank You for this and my thoughts are always with you. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS BEAUTIFUL OMEGA ISLAND SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes putting a romance between surrogates and therapists can feel icky. I felt that a total of zero times in this story.

Mykel learned to deal with what he wasn't aware was grief, Elon learned to move beyond what we can all clearly see was abuse. Both men came together in a way that was believable despite the shortened timeline. What made it work for me was the way the whole thing was approached. The constant communication, checking in, and creating a safe place for expression all worked together to make their beginning a proper foundation for something lasting. Adding in their unique desire for one another and their body chemistry enhancing that underlying match and you have a pairing that feels just so right.

I think this is my favorite book of the series so far. I'm glad I've stuck with it and will continue to do so.

Following in the vein of the Omega Island series finds us right back on the island. This story moved slowly, I found, in the beginning. I didn’t connect instantly with the m/c’s. As the story progressed I became more attached and the story picked up speed. Elon’s sadness did garner your sympathy while Mykel’s situation of loss of a best friend has you feeling his pain. Together watching them heal together, grow together and overcome together brought you closer in and gave the connection that I mentioned earlier that I felt was lacking. The conclusion was sweet as were the characters. The HeA that they found together gave the story strength and did bring about a pleasure conclusion. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

Once again, we find ourselves at Omega Island a place for omegas to get the help they need and to hopefully learn to deal and move on with their lives. In this book we meet Elon. He is looking to find a way to return to normal. Elon has not had a heat since his husband passed away years ago. Mykel is the man assigned to help Elon heal. As the two work through Elon’s past and problems a bond begins to form between them. It was nice to see Mykel help Elon figure out and face his past. The two make a good couple and I enjoyed their story. Emotions take center stage in this story and the love that develops between the men is strong. Their story will pull on your heart and have you believing in the power and healing that comes from love.

Doing a personal inventory can be difficult. When Elon lost his mate, his heats died. He is still a young man, heat doctor's were unsuccessful helping him. Then a doctor, suggested he take a retreat on Omega Island. Mykel, a sex surrogate regards Elon's case as a challenge. This story sensitively explores the 'why' of Elon's condition from the very beginning. Elon and Mykel learn about the condition and learn more about themselves. This story is like a warm blanket that helps you during a storm outside. Good flow. Good story. Elon and Mykel are absolutely likeable. Can Mykel find a solution? Will Elon be able to totally open up? Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. Nice cover art!

Broken Heat is the third installment of the Omega Island series, an Island where Omegas can go if they have sexual or other problems concerning their heat.
I recommend reading the other books in this series before, not for understanding purposes, but because they are really good.

Elon doesn't have any heat since his husband died 3 years ago. His last resolve is Omega Island, where he meets Mykel, his assigned heat teacher. They grow closer during Elon's treatment until feelings become also a factor.

I really like this book. The characters are amazing, I loved Mykel and how understanding, and helpful he was. The whole series didn't disappoint until now.

Omega Elon stopped having heats after he lost his mate three years ago. At only 30 he is young enough to meet someone else and have a family but no doctor has helped him until one of them prescribes him to stay at Omega Island. Mykel is an alpha sexual surrogate who specialises in omega sexuality so a patient who cannot experience heat is the perfect challenge for him,

I enjoyed this story with the descriptions of his marriage and his rather strange husband who was the polar opposite of Mykel who was kind, gentle and focused on giving his partner pleasure. I loved that there was a look at the end of the story as to what happened next which helped to quell my curiosity. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content including mpreg and set in the omegaverse.

I'm so happy to return to Omega Island.
This series seems to be a low/med angst series, with lots of steam and smexy times!

Omega Island's newest patient is omega Elon, a widower who hasn't experienced a heat in 3 years.
His s3x surrogate, alpha Mykel has just completed one month of his own therapy after mishaps with his last 2 patients.

The pairing of Elon and Mykel was perfect.
Mykel was so patient and understand with Elon. He quickly identified how broken Elon's bond was with his former mate.
This installment is hot!!
✅ ruts
✅ knotting
✅ dirty talk
✅ did I mention knotting??
✅ fated mates

If mpreg is your thing, Omega Island is a great place to retreat to.
I'm hoping that omega Senta gets his HEA too.

Elon is an Omega whose husband died three years ago along with his heats. He’s desperate to reclaim them, so he goes to Omega Island. There he is paired with Mykel, an Alpha that is a sexual surrogate, but he’s recently gotten past performance issues. Mykel helps Elon to discover that his husband wasn’t his bonded mate and was mentally abusive to Elon. Elon and Mykel’s pairing forces Mykel into a rut and eventually a fated mate pairing. This was a great sweet with heat story. Elon has some healing to do, and Mykel was the perfect therapist for him. Overall, an excellent story. Well written with fantastic pacing. Read it in one sitting!

Both grieving for their lost relationships, Mykel and Elon find happiness

I've tried to write this review without any spoilers and it's proving difficult, so I'll just be brief.
I loved how Mykel let Elon tell his story at his own pace. Elon had a lot to process about his marriage and mate, and a lot to rethink about an alpha/omega relationship and the power dynamic. Mykel was so gentle in how he encouraged Elon to open up to him.
Their characters were well-written, the connection between them palpable, and the ending was lovely.
I would love to see Senta get his own story. He is a constant warm and comforting presence in this series, and needs his own happy ever after.

I loved the first book in this series and couldn't wait until book two, and I was not disappointed. When omega Elon's mate died, he stopped having heats and doctors haven't been able to figure out how to cure him- until he's prescribed a retreat at Omega Island for treatment in their sex surrogacy program, and alpha Mykel is the surrogate who will work with him. This was a beautiful story of accepting and working through grief, and I loved how caring, respectful, and understanding Mykel was with Elon and helping him through. It ended up being a journey for both men. I loved it and couldn't put it down. 5 stars.

This one is even better than the first. Alpha Mykel is set to help Omega Elon, who hasn’t experienced a heat since his mate died. Both men have gone through set backs when it comes to their sex lives. Their connection is immediate. Their chemistry is palpable. They happen to be exactly what the other is needed. Elon’s first mate was awful. As soon as he started describing him I knew he was no good. Mykel helps Elon to realize he is so much more than a hole to be filled. Senta surprised me when he first refused Elon going to see Mykel after his rut started. It was so obvious that they were connected. But Elon found his way to his true fated mate.

An amazing story!

This book is awesome and I loved it! Elon and Mykel meet when Elon goes to Omega Island to see if they can help him. Since the death of his mate, he no longer has his heats. He is paired with Mykel, who has recently had some issues of his own. Together they will unlock the feelings of the past that have kept Elon from being whole and it will help Mykel as well. An unexpected occurrence will show Mykel the truth of Elon’s place in his life and it will lead them to a wonderful happily ever after.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

beautiful story

What a beautiful story. So heartbreaking yet so healing.

Wendy has a brief note at beginning about her own grief and healing and I sincerely hope this story was able to help her move as well.

Both Mykel and Elon suffered a loss and their bodies sort of shut down. It was a bit of a slower burn but it fit considering the emotions. After learning to trust themselves and their feelings they came together in a hot and knotty rut! So steamy and so sweet.

Another beautiful Omega Island story.
