He’s a powerful panther shifter who needs my rejection…
Returning home to help my sick father and finding out that I’m fated to Blayne Walker must be the universe’s idea of a cruel joke.
Especially because the stubborn panther shifter with the hard look in his blue eyes is the reason I left Lily Valley in the first place. Not only did I used to date Blayne’s twin brother, but he also blames me and my family for Sean’s death.
The only thing Blayne and I can agree on is fighting our fate. I don’t want to be bound to a cursed shifter who hates me, while he would rather endure the pain of rejection and let go of his chance to continue his rare bloodline.
But when hunters come looking for Blayne and he discovers I’m in danger too, his protective panther isn’t ready to give up on me yet…

Well... I finished the series but just barely. This last book had so many spelling, grammar, and location errors in it that it really didn't make much sense. I feel like the MMC was cool and I liked how the Mafia aspect was included because of the FMC but his twin's ex and the woman he was going to marry being his mate was too much. Brothers are fine but twins??? No. It was creepy. The overall story arc in this series finished up well but we didn't really see the ending to all the sub-stories... did Steff see his original pack again? Did April have kids then or not? What happened to April's brothers since they knew the secret? Jared just "flies off to find other dragons" even though they're the 2nd rarest shifter? C'mon. These were not good plots to leave open. I am marking this book as a DNF because it was PAINFUL to finish and only was because I already read the other 3... I'm also black listing this Author as I don't think I can get into any of her books again after reading the last 2 of this series. Quality > Quantity.
This final installment had everything I expected. Angst, heartbreak, loss, and a crazy final battle with the leader of the zealot hunters.
Blayne, the only member of our rag-tag pack who was actually looking forward to meeting his mate, ends up fated to the former girlfriend of his dead twin. It’s like a cruel joke. His animosity (possibly misplaced?) means their pairing is sure to fail.
Ava is just so darn sweet! Despite being the daughter of a Rocky Mountain crime lord, she’s an inherently caring and decent human being
I honestly hoped there might be one last book in this series, giving Jared his own HEA.
Right away, with a mob story taking shape I thought that this would be a good book… a mafia princess mate? What a great idea! But then, the flashback of Blayne’s twin brother’s death and the circumstances surrounding it that had to do with his girlfriend Ava and her mafia family’s dealings were touching and full of angst and misery until it was stated that this all took place in little ‘ol Lilly Valley Colorado? What kind of big time crime family headquarters in a little mountain town in Colorado? For that matter what college was located in this little mountain town that Blayne was attending at the time? I was ready to believe that Blayne had purposely chosen this little sleepy town to bury his brother far away from the big city where they had lived just to get him away from the mafia. But NOPE, whichever of the several authors making up the pseudonym Roxy Ray, already showed their ignorance early on in this book. Too bad because it had the makings of a good conflict. There could have been some other reason that Ava chose to move to this little place, other than her mafia father getting cancer. That’s two father figures getting cancer in this series. I had to implement yet another “suspension of disbelief” in order to enjoy this story, but it was a constant struggle for me. This is the absolutely last book I will read by this (these) ignorant author(s). It felt like they are all teenagers or bored housewives who’ve never traveled or done research very well. This book more than the previous started out irritating me the most. SO MANY scenarios had to be forced in order for this story to “work:” the mafia presence in a small mountain town, a major college in a small mountain town, panther shifter twins growing up there, another father figure in the series getting cancer but one who had tons of money but didn’t seek any other cancer treatment except chemo, the mafia princess not living at the mansion with her family keeping her safe but instead she rents a house in town yet she’s the one who takes her father to his chemo then drops him off to his house and goes back to hers? The more I read, the more I struggled to enjoy the story. My only motivation was to complete the series. Originally I wanted to watch enemies turn to lovers and to see the billionaire hunter defeated but I struggled to get over all the hurdles. If I hadn’t read 3 books in the series already, I would have most definitely DNF'd this book. I told my husband about this since he loves mafia stories. I asked him about a crime family setting up headquarters in a small Colorado mountain town, a town with a major college. He mentioned Gunnison or Alamosa, both of which are south west of Denver, in the mountains, and have colleges. Both are surrounded by forest but not LUSH forests, just the standard arid pine forests. In any case he said, “it's just fiction! You can make anything up when you write fiction!” He has a point. Plus, he informed me that the biggest crime family, in the state, was in Pueblo, where my mom grew up. It’s not in the mountains but it’s not a large sprawling city like Denver either. So, once he helped me realize the possibilities, I started thoroughly enjoying the story more. There were still some hangups in the flow, from the typos “I trailed my fingers trailed across her stomach” but it wasn't enough to give me much pause. Something that impressed me was the detail, not just in the spicy scenes, but in the warfare preparations and execution. I don’t remember any other author addressing the issue of equipping warriors with FOOD as well as weapons! “Even the kitchen was crazy. Marissa and a few helpers I’d never seen before were packing up what looked like hundreds of bags of lunches or meals. I guessed it was so that everyone could have food with them and not need to go on a break or leave their post for food.” As the enemies turned to lovers and allies worked together I couldn't put the book down. It flowed, and it satisfied. It ended well. Maybe I will read more from this author after all?
Review of Enemy Panther Next Door Secret Shifters Next Door Series, Book 4 By Roxie Ray
Exciting Paranormal Romance
This book starts with an argument between Blayne, the main male character, and his twin brother, Liam. Liam was working for a local mafia boss, Gio Francis, and was preparing to leave for a dangerous assignment. He was romantically involved with Gio’s daughter, Ava, the main female character. Blayne awoke a little after three in the morning with his heart aching like he’d been stabbed. Heavy pounding on his door shortly thereafter proved to be Ava and her uncle Luis who were there to tell him that Liam was dead. He blamed Ava for that, since Liam was working the job to be able to afford a house for her, and swore he never wanted to see her or any of her family members again.
Ten years later, on the anniversary of Liam’s death, Blayne finds himself face to face with Ava at Liam’s grave. His panther immediately recognizes Ava as his fated mate, leaving Blayne reeling with that knowledge. Then, to add insult to injury, he discovers that Ava has rented the house across the street from him. The two agree to meet the following morning as he needs to tell her about the hunters and about the curse he is under. The curse was intended to be a punishment to the shifters affected, but it has turned out to be a blessing in that the human women it forces them to mate with are able to have their children and are turned into shifters during the claiming. If a shifter doesn’t pursue his mate and make them fall in love with him, he will die a slow and painful death. Blayne wants Ava to outright reject him, thinking he may have a couple of days of pain and then the curse will be done. Of course, things are never that easy.
I really enjoyed reading this book. One of my favorite quotes from the book is when Blayne thinks, “It was like Fate herself was sitting there with a bucket of popcorn, laughing her ass off and watching me squirm.” And as a reader, just when you thought you knew what would happen next, there was a new twist in the plot. The character development was excellent, letting us share the growth of the characters. The unexpected allies in the battles against the hunters provided for a surprising and exciting climax. Altogether, this is a well-written book that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who loves paranormal romances.
My rating: 5 Stars.

“…something that started out as a curse ended up being a blessing”
This was my favorite book of the series. This one stepped out of the predictable mold and gave me something different. That I really liked. Ten years ago, Ava was in love with Liam, Blayne’s twin. Unlike most of their small town, Ava, her father and some of his men know what Liam and Blayne are. Liam used his specific skills to help her father’s organization get a step ahead of their enemies. Until that final job. Liam never came home. Now Blayne is the last of his four friends/business partners waiting for the witches curse to show him his fated mate. Unlike the others, he’s been anxious for his mate. Panther shifters are very rare, and finding a fated mate even rarer. But fate, like the crazy witch that cursed them has a cruel side. His mate is Ava. The woman he blames for his brothers death. The absolute last female he would ever mate with. His plan is to have Ava reject him as her mate. The witch said that would break the curse. And it does. But no one was ready for the consequences of breaking that match. It almost kills him. Sends his panther into a deep, dark depression. Ava tries to be his friend. Help the panther heal a bit. With the Hunters getting closer every day, he needs to be at his best. Along the way, lessons taught, are lessons learned. Blayne slowly starts to let go of his anger toward Ava and refocus on his brother. Enemies slowly become friends. Then something more. Ava and Blayne started out hating each other. But in the end the curse, for better or worse brought them together. As the Hunters and their well funded leader draw closer, it’s time to rally the forces. Teaming up with other packs, and human mobsters. Anything to save their families. I really liked this unconventional pack of shifters. It was fun watching them struggle to get through their matings. I loved catching up with them throughout the series. The big battle was well done and wrought with tension. Lives hang on the line. Ava and Blayne do work through all of their issues and find that happy ending. The epilogue wraps up the series and is told from Tate’s POV, and we see everyone’s happy endings. As with all of these books, editing is a problem. Missing words, misused words, misspelled words. Something more than just spell check is needed. I would recommend reading this series in order.
This is part of the Secret Shifters Next Door each book can be read as a standalone with sexy shifter and the mate who captures all of him. Blayne sexy as all get out shifter with a very large chip on his shoulder against the family who he thinks is responsible for his twins death, walking around with that much hate will eventually boil over and it does the moment the object of his hate moves back to their home town of Lily Valley. Ava intelligent, no one’s doormat, feisty, walked around feeling like she was the blame for her boyfriends death and going home never expecting to see his twin at the grave site. Blayne wants to hate her but fate is making it hard when he realizes she is his fated mate also, realizing she rented the house right across from him driving his panther absolutely crazy demanding out to mate with her but his curse and the hunters she needs to know about it and it was a punishment for him but ended up being something a blessing in disguise to some but a curse to others because he has to get his mate to fall in love with him otherwise he dies a slow and painful death. Needing her to reject him missing his twin, the hate he has carried around for ten plus years is enough for him to want death so making her reject him he thought would be the key but fate has all the control and death isn’t in his near future, nor is hating her with everything he is, learning the truth can hurt but is sometimes good for the soul both of these two figure it out but at what cost, will he ever be okay with the death of his twin, will she help him understand that the blame he has placed on her is so very misplaced, and will these two fated mates finally see that fate has all the control and she wants them to both be happy but is that where they are headed?.

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 4th and final book in the Secret Shifters Next Door series and ends in an HEA. I really enjoyed Blayne and Ava. Their backstories were heartbreaking. Ava was the love of the late Liam’s life. Liam is the late twin brother of Blayne. Ava’s family is mob and Liam died while on a job for the family. Blayne never forgave Ava or her family. Ten years later Ava moves across the street from Blayne, causing extreme feelings of hatred in Blayne towards Ava. Blayne also realizes Ava is his fated mate. What a sad situation. Over time, Blayne and Ava open communication and accept the mating bond.
>The whole series has been leading up to a battle between the shifters and the hunters. Help for the shifters comes from all different directions. The final battle is over quickly and leads to a lot of angst. I really liked this series. I gave this book 3 stars due to 2 main factors. One factor is the plethora of editing errors in just this book. Editing errors take the reader out of the story. The second and much larger factor is a plot error. In book 3, a medical facility is discovered. In this facility kidnapped shifters and humans are tortured and experimented on, sometimes even forcibly mated to various partners to try and create super shifter soldiers. In book 4, after the main battle, nothing is mentioned about this facility or any type of rescue to help the tortured shifters and humans.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 3 stars. I liked this series. I wish the author wouldn’t have rushed this book so much. I felt the editing and some of the plot was missing.
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! I'm not a big fan of enemies-to-lovers (I prefer strangers getting to know each other!) and series finales aren't my favorite either. Despite this, the story was very well done and I really enjoyed it.
I was a bit worried because the author has been building up the stakes for the whole series and I was worried that a full on war between shifters and hunters in modern-day small town was going to be a bit ridiculous. And it was a bit, but pretty well done and war pretty much wound down to one big battle that took place in half a chapter, so it didn't overstay its welcome.
The main couple's story was angsty but really interesting. I really like that each love story in the series is very significantly different. Blayne and Ava were the only one that actually went for a rejection. Because they had a really bad past to get over, the author chose to have Ava already know about shifter and that really helped. The addition of Gio and the Francis crime family was really nice, and I liked seeing these guys not mind shifters at all and side with them. It was a nice foil for the crazy zealots we've seen the whole series!
I have noticed that the characters are a bit bland and not very distinct. They're nice and all, but Blayne's personality is pretty indistinguishable from Tate or Steff, and Ava is very similar to April and Harley. The most standout character was Celina, and she made her book shine. I have a feeling Celina is heavily influenced by the author's own personality, and without being able to draw from such personal experience, her other characters aren't as distinct.
Still, a great book to finish a great series! I enjoyed it!
WOW what a powerful ending to a series. Blayne and Ava's story was really really on enemy ground. OMG Blayne blamed Ava and her entire family for the death of his brother Liam. He thought Ava was a spoiled princess of a Mafia family and pushed his brother to do what he did for her family. Yep WRONG. When an accidental meeting between Blayne and Ava at the cemetery things got explosive on Blayne's side. He tore into her mercilessly. Top add icing to the cake Ava was Blayne's mate. Oh yeah that went over like a lead weight. Since Ava already knew about shifters Blayne explained about the curse and demanded she reject the mating. Which of course she did. That also didn't go over to well for Blayne. As the story plays out there is so much that happens, so much tension, so much sitting on the edge of your seat, heart pounding action but in the end all good. Not giving up any spoilers to good of a read. BUT that being said I was so hoping there would be a book for Jared. I want to know what happens to him. Does he find a mate. Does he come back to the guys. So much left unsaid.
This is part of the Secret Shifters Next Door series. Although there is enough information given to follow the storyline, to fully enjoy the book, I recommend reading the previous books in the series.
This is a powerful story that describes how debilitating grief can be. It is an emotional story, but a wonderful one.
Ten years ago, Blayne's twin, Liam, was lost after a business deal went bad. Blayne places the responsibility for the loss on Liam's then girlfriend, Ava, and her family, for whom Liam worked.
As a shifter, Blayne's panther recognizes Ava as their fated mate. Blayne disagrees. He needs all of his focus on the upcoming conflict with the hunters. His plan is to have Ava reject him, thus breaking the spell cast upon him by Emily. However, Blayne didn't realize all the implications of Ava rejecting him. Also, with the hunters escalating the conflict, will he end up needing Ava?.

I absolutely love this series! The writer introduces the 4 primary characters from the beginning and though each book delves into the lives of each one individually and their quest for redemption, love, friendship, peace and forgiveness, it tells a very intricate tale that includes many other main characters and their backstories. Roxie is a master storyteller who keeps you guessing and page after page you will smile, laugh, cry and cringe with each and every book . I never lost interest within this series and love that there is not a bunch of thrown in filler chapters. You truly get lost within the pages of this series, her descriptive writing abilities truly transported me to the locations she describes and gives your minds eye a treasure trove of possibilities in imaginary , that makes this series an absolute must read. There are some graphic elements, though Roxie writes them with tact . You will fall in love with the characters and be a lifelong reader of Roxie Ray ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ!!!
Ava and Blayne is the story you don’t think you want to read! There is rejection, pain, betrayal and the fact she was his dead twins girl. Not to mention Ava’s father and family have mafia ties! Blayne has believed for 10 years it’s those ties that got his brother killed! Blayne hates Ava so when he finds her at his brothers grave it’s attack verbally on sight! Blayne and Ava have some very tense moments and it does not look good for them ever! But lo and behold she is his mate! WHAT?!! I almost stopped right there! But there is a war coming and they know who the Billionaire villain is and they definitely need to stick together! It is a very violent and heart wrenching end of the war that could kill one of them and almost does! Definitely a nail biter! More drama and a war zone fit for an epic movie! Is there a HEA mortal enemies yet fated Mates! Get on this rollercoaster and hold on!!! Bravo
I absolutely loved the conclusion to this series. While Ava and Blayne have a very rocky start to their relationship after their shared history this became a beautiful love story. After his twin brother was killed Blayne blames Ava and her entire family, 10 years after Ava returns home and Blayne would rather never see her again. Which makes it hard when she is his mate. Already knowing about shifters from her relationship with Blaine’s brother, Ava understands the complexity of a shifter, only to be told that Blayne is her mate. After Blayne has Ava reject him he spirals into depression and unimaginable pain. But what happens when love will find a way and fate isn’t something you can go against? A full war and an epic conclusion to a fantastic series of shifters finding their mates and love.

"Out of all of us, you were probably the only one looking forward to finding your mate.”
Blayne is the member of his pack that probably most wants a family, but fate has a wicked sense of humor and pairs him with a person he holds one heck of a grudge against.
Ava has a good heart, and kind nature... she knows why Blayne is angry with her, but that doesn't make the past very fault, at least not all of it.
This kindle unlimited quick read stands solidly on its own while being part of a series and bringing an action packed conclusion to the overarching arc.
This story tackles grief, the emotional pain for loved ones of Cancer/Chemotherapy, and centers on two characters who are all too aware of the pain and loss that you open yourself up to with love... but that doesn't mean they won't take the chance, for the right person.
Blayne has hated Ava since his brother died 10 years ago and blames her and her family for his death. What happens when she returns to town to take care of her father and Blayne realised she is his fated mate. He needs her to reject him so that the curse on him and his friends can be broken. But what happens when being rejected turns out to be worse than what he thought. His friends are still in danger from the billionaire set to wipe out all shifters, and Blayne realises he's going to need Ava and her families help to get rid of him for good. But what happens when they start to spend more time together, is the curse really broken between them and if so why do they have these feelings for each other.
This was a great ending to the series. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

the first 17 chapters are of Blayne hating Ava (his twin brother's ex) that he thinks got him killed. Unkind words and scathing looks. By the time they consider becoming more, they each keep referencing his dead twin brother. It's makes it weird and awkward when they become a couple. Takes too long for things to change...in my opinion. Some people don't like insta-love... and I, too, like a good build-up, BUT this doesn't feel like a build-up on subtle glances and flirting. When the book turns to them, it feels like cheating to me because so much of the book was about her and his brother being a couple.
Close to the end of the middle...it reads like a normal couple's book with two people. That part was a five-star read. I split the middle with a three star.
It was necessary to read for this series, but it wasn't my favorite
Blayne had hated Ava and her family since the day his twin brother had been killed. For ten years he carried the hatred until Ava moved back to Lily Valley and he met her again. He and his shifter friends had moved back to Lily Valley and started a business there but as soon as his eyes met Ava’s his Panther realised that she was his fated mate!
A wonderful fast paced story full of action, passion, emotions running high, all in the middle of an uprising! They both had to get over the feelings they had from the past and accept each other. Blayne and Ava were coming to care and love each other but with threats everywhere would they ever get their own HEA?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The fourth and final book in the Secret Shifters series following Blayne and Ava. Blayne’s twin brother Liam tragically dies while on a job for his girlfriend Ava’s mafia family. Since the twins were all they had left of their family this leaves Blayne alone. He blames Ava and her family holding on to his animosity and anger. When Ava returns to Lilly Valley ten years later fate has something up her sleeve with Ava being Blayne’s fated mate. With the upcoming hunter war new alliances are formed and Blayne has to learn to let go of grudges to save all those he now calls family. This was my favorite book of the series. It was an intense read and I loved how it all tied together.

“Knowing she was nearby seemed to make things seem less awful.”
After what felt like forever we finally get Blayne’s story. Since panthers are my favorite shifters I was really looking forward to his and it was worth the wait. Hands down the most angst filled of the series I was already crying my eyes out reading the prologue.
Blayne and Ava broke my heart so many times. They were truly Star Crossed lovers. Their happily ever after was hard won and they truly deserved it after all they had suffered. I know they will have a very happy life together as will the other three. This entire series has been a delight and it’s absolutely my favorite of all of Roxie’s. A part of me is sad to see it end.
Oh my, Blayne is stubborn. Oh well, he has a lot of support to get him through the tough spots. I liked the story, I liked how it all came together and got resolved except for 2 things. They paid off the surviving bad guys who got away and did not go to prison. Really? Really? They paid them to not talk or attack them again? Really? Second, it would have been nice to know if all the surviving shifters and homeless people who had been held and experimented on were released; and that the sadistic doctor leading the experiments had died. If you are going to be explicit about the torture the innocent shifters went through, then at least make their tormentors pay for their actions, don't pay them cash to go away.
I enjoyed reading Blayne's story. It was different from the other 3. Definitely a bit more drama there, but done really well. I'm glad that Blayne and Ava found their way to each other. It was cute how others saw it before they did. I still love the tight group they have and how the series is wrapped with a chapter from Tate's POV.
My only big issue here is that things we learned about in the third book (Miles and Celina) in regard to the hunters isn't touched upon again. I mean, it was huge to learn about the testing and experimentation they were doing and then nothing? Just felt like a missed opportunity. This story also alluded to Jared having a crush on Ava and then that also sort of fell flat.
Blayne and Ava's story was the best of the series for me. Blayne was the last of his small pack to be without a mate. The darn curse would catch up with him, he knew it. Unfortunately, the curse would have no mercy on him. He hates Ava with so much intensity and he feels he is justified in feeling that way. He has more important things to be concerned about, like the hunters and their leader wanting his kind dead.
Ava, can't believe he still despises her. Running into him at the cemetery takes her off guard. She is back in Lily Valley to make sure her mobster father does his chemo.
The story was great, though I wanted to know the gender of their twins, but that was not revealed.
I love this book and was sad when it ended this is the last book in the series. I really wish she would write Jared's story. This was an absolute wonderful ending to the stuff that was going on through the whole series. It was nice to see that the bad guy got it in the end. And thank goodness Blaine survived. But man the poor girl Ava, not only did she almost lose her mate but almost lost her dad. This was one heck of an emotional roller coaster but there is no other way to write it because this book was the last in the series I'm pretty sure. I hope to find Jared's story maybe on an off shoot another book but he deserves a happily ever After just like everyone else. Antonio was a real monster in this series. Hopefully they can have their happily ever after
Ava dated Blayne's twin brother when they were younger. After Liam died, Blaiyne blamed Ava and her mafia family. As the curse that has been put on Blayne and his mixed shifter pack to pull their fated mates into their lives to be used against the by a militant billionaire, he learns that Ava is his fated mate. Rejection hurts but Ava is kind and so is her family, they will help when trouble comes. There's alot that goes on in this story but I really got wrapped into reading this and enjoyed it greatly. Thers lots of drama, danger and steamy bits with a happily-ever-after at the end.

Blayne is visiting his brothers grave it’s been 10 years sense his death when he turns to leave his brothers ex is standing there. Ava is just wanting to pay her respects but Blayne doesn’t want her there he hates her so much. He blames her and her family for his brothers death. But thing have just got worse the curse the witch put on them just made a big mistake it’s made Ava his fated mate. He needs her to reject him. She does but it not a easy thing. Because of his panther. But this not all their enemy it coming to start a war with them and their allies. So enjoy the last book in this series !!
Enemy Panther Next Door by Roxie Ray, Secret Shifters Next Door, book 4
He’s a powerful panther shifter who needs my rejection . . . But when hunters come looking for Blayne and he discovers I’m in danger too, his protective panther isn’t ready to give up on me yet . . .
ENEMY PANTHER NEXT DOOR: a great finale for the Secret Shifters Next Door. Blayne and his fellow shifters are outnumbered and outgunned, and just when all seems lost, an offer from the most unlikely places evens the odds of their survival. Love, danger, and a heart-thumping battle for survival and lasting peace.
I enjoyed this book. It’s a fast paced, exciting paranormal romance and Blayne and Ava’s story. He’s hated her since his brother died 10 years ago and blames her for his death but when she returns to town he realizes she’s his fated mate. There’s drama suspense, danger, a curse villains, romance, hot alpha, male, romance and love. It is a great story and a wonderful ending to the series that I highly suggest.

It’s different how the MC find each other. There is animosity from Blayne toward Ava because of what he conceived happen to his brother. There are gangsters and a big bad who is truly evil. Blayne is still mourning his brothers death and that complicates his life and Ava’s. She’s sweet and kind and innocent of the evils Blayne projects on her and others . He must come to grips with reality and deal with the big bad. The ending ties up loose ends and is very satisfying.
Enemy Panther Next Door delivers all the slow-burn enemies-to-lovers vibes you could want—with a panther shifter who’s equal parts dangerous and irresistible. Roxie Ray cranks up the tension between the leads, mixing snarky banter with moments of surprising vulnerability.
The small-town setting adds that cozy feel, but don’t let that fool you—this story has plenty of heat and a few sharp claws thrown in. If you love a bit of rivalry turning into something way more complicated (and steamy), this one will definitely keep you turning pages.
