Bottom Belle

Rate this book
Materialism meets love on a one-way street.

“All I think about when I’m with you is sex, but I feel too guilty to act on it.”

Chiluba, a young and successful fashion designer, is introduced to her best friend’s uncle, George, the kingpin of the West African fabric industry to launch a project. They soon find there’s a lot they have in common other than the African fashion and fabric industry.

Bottom Belle is the second book in the Lagos Lovin’ Universe. More than an age-gap romance, it’s a story of friendship, desire, family, loyalty and all shades of love.

2.5 stars.
The book was not great. I'm very generous with the rating. It threw me into a reading slump.
The characters were so annoying. Chiluba has no sense of maturity or accountability. She hurts you and makes it your fault when you lash out. She was terribly rude and thought it made her a 'badass'. She was really just a nasty, narcissistic individual. I hated her.
George was also annoying. He made me cringe too often. He acted so immaturely, especially for a man in his mid-50's. For someone so old, he lacked the ability to have serious and healthy relationships. He didn't know when to call it quits and leave her alone. I believe he hates himself. A man who actually likes himself wouldn't have stayed in such a toxic relationship in the name of 'love'.
In their relationship, I didn't feel any chemistry or any inkling that they had deep feelings for each other. The relationship was very superficial, and to me, they barely knew each other. If there was even a bit of love, it was all from George. Chiluba hated this man, but he was convenient for her, so she convinced herself that she cared about him. If George had any sense or self-respect, he'd have seen this. Her constant disrespect and lack of empathy towards him and his family and friends was a clear indication of her hatred for him. He was, however, distracted by her breasts (his words, not mine). Their relationship was purely sexual. They never had meaningful conversations where they got to know and understand each other. It was always business talk or dirty talk.
The other characters, Mama, Zoya, Zena, Alfred, etc, were not properly developed. We barely even understood their role in Chiluba and George's lives. They existed as just names on a page rather than personalities or characters. This reflects poorly on the author's writing style.
The writing itself was ok. It wasn't great, but it also didn't make me want to rip my hair out. The smut was cringe most of the time, and it took over 65 percent of the book. The ending felt rushed and truly was not a great ending.
I do not recommend this book if you want to read something time worthy and with substance. However, if you have some spare time and want to read a bunch of subpar smut, be my guest.

One person annoyed me a lot in this book and I wish I could meet him in person and slap him.
I won't mention his name.
Kudos to the writer, for that.
A nicely paced love story, would they wouldn't they.

Chiluba is a lady after my heart, hard working and she knows what she wants. But hey, the universe knows better.

Waiting eagerly for the next book in this series.

For the first time in recent years, I finished a book (over 400 pages) in one day.

I don't even know where to start. I love everything about this book. The chemistry, the characters, the cities, the emotions, and of course, the spice.

Even the annoying characters I wanted to knock on the head were well written.

I read this book and it sparked Joy.

Splendid!!

Camaa always knows how to tell a good story with characters that will capture, live rent free and a remarkable experience long after you've read her books.

I love what you did with Chiluba and George, their character evolvement and how they held their space from start to finish was a whole vibe.
I loved that Chiluba was feisty, knew what she wanted and got what she wanted. That was a turn on for me, girl wanted what she wanted and left no doubt😁.

George, AKA sugar pops...loved his character, he portrayed one heck of being a 'sugar daddy's but I guess beyond that he was a really sweet soul and was able smoothen out things with Chiluba.

And that friend of his ....🙄🙄🙄. I didnt just understand his back and forth.
Thank you for delivering yet another master piece. Always a pleasure reading from you 👍👍

First of all, I must say Chiluba and Georgie make me so happy. I have read all books in the series, and this is by far my favourite. I now see Chiluba and Georgie as my family and I look forward to raising my fictional nieces and nephews 😍

Once again, CAMAA has written a masterpiece and outdone herself. Bottom Belle is such an exciting page turner, I just have to recommend.

PS where can I find my own Georgie? Treat as urgent dear readers 😫😫

Bottom Belle!!!

First off, I love the way Camaa writes.

Second. Chiluba for the bag, the business, and the man!!! I love it that she got every good thing she deserves it.

And my darling George. Soft and smooth. He had his rough edges though but I love him because he reminds me of someone 😂

In all, this was a nice and fast read.

a refreshing story, well written with great tempo; loaded with fashion, fabrics, love, sexual expressions / tensions; self control etc.

⭐ 2.5/5

This is the second book in the Lagos Lovin’ series, and honestly, I didn’t enjoy it. It’s the most talked-about book in the series, but I had to drag myself to finish it—and even more to actually like it.

It starts with Chiluba meeting George through her best friend. There’s an instant attraction, which is fine, but I didn’t realize that would be the entire plot. I went in expecting something with more depth, especially since I thought the book would explore the fashion world. That didn’t happen.

Chiluba is a beautiful, hardworking woman, but the book reduces her to just a rude badass. That rubbed me the wrong way. Her relationship with her family barely exists in the book—just phone calls with her mum and sister. In the first book, we saw her travel for her dad’s burial, but in her own book? Nothing. No mention of how she handled the loss, no burial scene, nothing. That felt like a huge missing piece.

Chiluba was closer to Zena that Zoya, yet it wasn't shown here at all.

The pacing was the same as book one—hard to get into. The characters weren’t lovable either. George and Chiluba barely knew anything about each other beyond wanting to sleep together, and that made it hard to connect with their story.

I didn’t enjoy this book, and honestly, I can barely remember what it was even about. Another red flag? I didn’t even realize it was part of a series until later. With all the PR and hype, I expected better. I won’t be reading book three.

Bottom Belle is the second book in Camaa Pearl’s series Lagos Lovin'. The book is set in Lagos, Nigeria and is colorful, energetic and fast-paced. Fashion designer, Chiluba is introduced to her best friend’s uncle George for a business venture. George is a titan of the West African fabric industry but is reluctant to engage with this beguiling young woman. He is instantly attracted to her but views their age gap as a deterrent. Bottom Belle is a lengthy book with a realistic tone and ample angst, sparkling dialog and drama. George was extremely appealing with oodles of passion and humor. I also enjoyed how down to earth and absolutely fierce Chiluba was. Ms. Pearl provided a lovely addendum to her already excellent story. I enjoyed all aspects of this fun read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this age-gap love story and can’t believe I left it sitting on my Kindle for so long.

Initially, I was hesitant to read it because of some of the reviews claiming Chiluba was materialistic. Knowing this was an age-gap romance featuring a white man more than 30 years older than the main female character, I was completely put off. I assumed it was just another clichéd story about a young, greedy Black woman pursuing a wealthy older white man.

But Bottom Belle is nothing like that.

Chiluba is far from materialistic. She’s ambitious, hardworking, and determined to achieve success on her own terms. She wasn’t sitting around waiting for Uncle George to rescue her or bankroll her lifestyle. She was focused on her career, and when she felt gifts came with strings attached, she returned them without hesitation. The reviews mischaracterized her completely.

Yes, this is an age-gap romance, and yes, her love interest is wealthy, but Chiluba was independent and doing her own thing. She wasn’t dependent on him, which made their dynamic even more refreshing.

I also appreciated how realistic Uncle George was about their relationship. He didn’t romanticize or ignore the potential challenges they might face in the future, especially given the age difference. He acknowledged the possibility that he might not be able to meet all of Chiluba’s needs someday, but his willingness to embrace the present and make their time together meaningful gave me hope for their relationship.

This story captured the complexities of an age-gap romance, including the added layer of their interracial relationship, with sensitivity and realism.

It’s a beautifully written, thoughtful, and refreshing take on a trope that’s often misunderstood. Highly recommended!

After reading Zoya's story in book one, I *immediately* started reading Chiluba's story which occurs simultaneously--and masterfully done. Another deep, intense love story, but this one I'd say has more romance--and I don't just mean the intimate scenes, it was just more passionate and descriptive in terms of their feelings for each other overall. While I enjoyed book one, I had no idea what Manir saw in Zoya outside of friendship.

Chiluba was a whole different story. I can see why George fell head over heels for her. Beautiful, alluring, confident, ambitious, brilliant and when she was ready, Chiluba told him she was into him and wanted the relationship to become intimate. It felt mutual. I loved all of their dates, especially the first one on the island when she thought he was trying to make her his young mistress. She was insulted in the moment but ended up being the one to fold first later on.

Chiluba's backstory/issues with her father were handled very well and added depth to her character.

Just a great read overall.

Oh there was one thing. Again like the first book while this was romantic, it was not a romance per se. During the "breakup/dark night of the soul" it was mentioned but not described in detail--George and Chiluba were still having dinner occasionally and sex. Something I've never encountered in a traditional romance. I liked this because I was not sure if there was going to be a HEA so the story kept me on the edge of my seat.

I cannot wait for the third book in this series!

The book was hard to finish. I don't see how their love was forbidden when they were infact the ones holding each other back.
Luba is a bad friend, the way she careless told Zoya about George when Zoya found out with no remorse.Luba strikes me as a manipulative person, she was out to get George( as mentioned in the book on how she dressed first time she went to see him). Also going to Alfred for help was funny for a girl who was feisty first time they met.
Sleeping with Nosaze was even more absurd for her character.
George on his part admitted at one point in the book he hears Yoruba and heard what Alfred had said to Luba but still didn't react. Him fighting Alfred in the end made no sense.
Zoya engagement was just off and she had no character development, in the end she claimed her only anger was being left in the dark like she wasn't trusted, same girl that was upset calling Luba an opportunist?
The story wasn't just coming together for me coz at different point the characters were contradicting

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Chiluba is an inspiring character, her passion to succeed in a male dominated related industry is so admirable. Some might feel she's greedy because of the money and all but I'll say her past experience shaped her into what she became to avoid history repeating all over. George on the other hand is sweet, intriguing and complex all at the same time. Their dynamics is filled with tension and emotional connection that got me hooked.
The book explores the complexity in relationships especially those with significant age gaps. It also explores forgiveness, family ties, personal growth and self discovery .
This book is more than a romance novel , it's a celebration of love, culture and the relentless pursuit of dreams. It's a reminder that love can be found in the most unexpected places .
For readers who love books with emotional depth, cultural richness and complex relationships, this is a must read for you.
Highly recommended 💞

Bottom Belle is bold and engaging. Camaa Pearl crafted a story that had me hooked from the start, with characters that felt so real and a romance that was both fiery and tender.

Chiluba is a bold, determined, and unafraid to go after what she wants. And I admired her strength and the way she held her own. And George? He’s the perfect mix of smooth, mature, and irresistibly sweet. Their chemistry was undeniable, and watching their relationship unfold was such a thrill.

Beyond the romance, I loved how this book explored friendships, ambition, and the unexpected ways love finds us. The storytelling was rich, the emotions hit deep, and every interaction kept me glued to the pages. This is easily my favorite in the Lagos Lovin’ series for now, let's see how the 3rd book will go.

Age gap romance with the sauce

I think I enjoy reading books with dual POVs. To see how the characters yearn for each other and the building tension. The author does a brilliant job of showing how, despite glaring sexual chemistry and undeniable passion, the characters have to deal with their inhibitions and self sabotage. How do two super accomplished people manage their ego while reconciling with who they become when with each other? Of course this book is spicy and for that, we thank the author. The spice we didn’t experience with Gaga crazy, we’re soaked deeply into with this beautiful offering. I enjoyed it.

This book is part of the reason why I am single.
I am Chiluba, Chiluba is me.... lol, I am just kidding but my girl is fierce, ambitious and unapologetically bold. Babe is busy building her fashion empire while George is busy turning up heat like Lagos sun. with the way this book was written I threw away my common sense.
Personally, this book is unresistable. Now you see the reason why I say it's the reason why I am single because now I have a snack (George from the fiction world), I am not supposed to eat but definitely want to, but then he's no where to be found in reality.
Highly recommend

I thoroughly enjoyed *Bottom Belle*. I honestly don't understand why some people are upset with Zoya's character. Given the circumstances, with her uncle by marriage, I would have likely done the same. As for the love story between Luba and George, I loved it! The age gap didn’t take away from their connection; it made their bond even more compelling. Also, Cama Pearl is definitely good at writing erotic books.

This book annoyed me. The FMC and the MMC both annoyed me. The entire book, they were dancing around each other. Chiluba was immature, there was no progression with her. George was worse! For someone his age, it was giving insecure, needy and a perv in the worst way possible. This book did not stick out to me.

When you hear 'steamy,' Camaa comes to mind in Nigerian literature. As someone who loves age gap romance, I found this book incredibly delightful in ways I never expected. Chiluba is an ambitious fashion designer, and George is a charming, wealthy older man. Their connection feels almost like love at first sight. You really should read this book to discover all the exciting details for yourself!

If you're craving gritty Lagos energy, steamy age-gap tension, and a confident heroine, Bottom Belle delivers in spades. Just be ready for heavy spice and some bumpy emotional beats.

MMC - George is a smooth, commanding silver fox with a hidden soft side🤭
FMC - Chiluba is bold, ambitious, and unapologetically fierce❤️

Out of the Lagos lovin series I really loved this book! Chiluba!!!! I love that character so much, I like that the author didn’t write her to be shy or borderline rude. Chiluba made me want to explore more in the very way she explored lol!
