•Five Stars• Kandi Steiner: Ember Nine chapters and an epilogue? Kandi is too good to us! After years of working her ass off, Ember is finally getting the recognition she deserves. And who says you can’t also enjoy your time at sea, just because you’re working. And boy, does she enjoy the down time! Ember and Finn, the head chef are very comfortable and friendly. Oh so friendly. I loved spending time with the two of them. Fun, flirty. The dirty kinda flirty. Finn is NOT a shy man. And then we’re introduced to their charter…then we get the full experience. Lock me on the yacht…chances are I’m choosing Ember! No hesitation or second guessing! That epilogue had me squealing!
My Favorite Quotes: • “The only thing you’ll be spreading on this charter is jam on toast. • “He’s going to leave tomorrow, but I’ll still be here.” • “Because you want to hear me tell you what a good girl you’ve been when I fuck you. • “You’re going to obey every order I give you.” • “Let’s see how slow I can go before I lose my mind.” forced proximity - workplace
Kat Singleton: Monica My sweet loves. How I have missed Monica and her venom. My crush on her only got stronger after reading this. Don’t tell her husband, but I may favor her more. While an outsider may see her as rude, or maybe even arrogant, I know that’s far from the truth. She’s proud. And she has every right to be. She’s proud of herself and the work she’s accomplished in her career. And by the way, when I say outsider, I mean a member of the species who assumes women are less than. Monica is anything but “less than”. And I dare you to say that around her husband, or her boss. Or her.
My Favorite Quotes: • “I’d prefer if you treated me with respect, but I guess we can’t always get what we want, can we?” • “I fucking love it when you play dirty.” • “So ready for me to enjoy.” • “They’re not allowed to hear you come apart for me. I don’t want to share your pleasure with them. Not today.” • “Tell me what you need.” • ‘It’s just that sometimes…I like my husband to f!ck the sass right out of me’
if you liked this then you should read Founded on Deception or start at the beginning of the series with Founded on Goodbye, where you meet Monica
Renee Dyer: Keeley I didn’t even finish the first page before I was chanting “I love it I love it I love it”. Chase Bishop, loud mouth on and off the field, gets suspended by the league for using performance enhancing drugs. The team makes him prove that he deserves to be on the team, which is how he ends up on the practice field with Keeley and her female football team. These women are badasses on and off the field, and he quickly learns that himself. Keeley gives him a chance, which leads to a kiss, which leads to him all but begging her to stay. And what comes after is beautiful. Which means I forgave him for his comments about the women’s league before he met them. And that means I started swooning over him too.
My Favorite Quotes: • “If you need me to forget the kiss happened, I will. I don’t want that, but I’ll do it for you.” • “I think I’d make a pretty good king.” • “You’re always beautiful.” female football player
Persephone Autumn: Penny Penny’s tattoo shop family is experiencing changes, and she feels like she’s not walking fast enough down the same path, and she’s being left behind. In comes the new boss…but he’s not new to her. I did a little happy dance when their eyes met. After years trying with copies of her, Jameson was ready to get on his knees to desperately beg Penny to go on a date with him. But then she said yes, on her own accord. And then my favorite moment in a ‘brother’s best friend’ trope happened, “just don’t hurt her” and they all lived happily ever after.
My Favorite Quotes: • “the right man will kneel before you. Worship the ground you walk on. Be proud to call you his.” brother’s bff - workplace
After her childhood sweetheart ripped her heart to pieces in the public eye, Sloane is trying to lay low. Her bodyguard is driving her nuts. Teasing her, poking fun at her. But really, Kolton is just trying to get her to smile. To feel the happiness she deserves. After an incident forces them to be stuck with each other with no way out, everything changes between them. This is doesn’t feel quick or rushed. It’s adorable, and definitely hot.
My Favorite Quotes: • “I admire you so much, and I have never, ever thought of you as anything but the very best.” • “Why would I want someone else?” • “Show me what a goddess you are.” workplace - musician
Georgana Roland: Garbo Trigger Warnings include: mention of drug use, child abandonment
When Garbo goes to the new gym in town to interview the owner, she walks in to see a ghost from her past. And the ghost was expecting her. I loved their instant reconnection, as if no time had passed at all. Her boss has something up her sleeve, and no one likes it. And I definitely didn’t like it when we found out what it was! What was the point of causing me that pain?!
second chance - sports romance: gymnastics - single parent
Amanda Cuff: Fiadh Trigger Warnings include: discussions of sexual orientation, cheating
That mini prologue was SO good! Made me need to know every single detail of what happened before this novella! Hollywood It couple falls from grace after a scandal. Years later, Jackson meets a woman in a bar. I gasped when we discovered her true identity. But uh…he did more than just gasp. I mean, there was definitely gasping involved. I liked Fiadh instantly. A lot of truths are exposed. And then it ended. I would have loved even just one more page of them!
My Favorite Quotes: • “You got your story. And now, I get you.” • “Shut up and f!ck me.” • “I want all of New York to watch me get you off.” • “I want to taste you when you come.” secret identity - celebrity
•Other• Daisy Allen: Angel ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trigger Warnings include: physical therapy after an accident, depression, mentions of spousal cheating
Page two, and I loved Angel already. I loved Knuckles for different reasons. They had a constant back and forth, and the banter always made me giggle. There’s a lot of heart in this one, and just as much pain. I’m kinda bummed we didn’t get a true ending, or even a hint at one. This is super duper open ended. But, this is a peak into an upcoming series. So there’s that!
My Favorite Quotes: • “For once just don’t talk. I’m begging you.” • “I want you to hurt me." musician
Chasity Tarantino: Ava ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ava is a late night talk show host. Surrounded by men in a man eat man world. Even her own husband didn’t respect her, which is why she divorced him. When a guest on her show catches her attention, she’s surprised to discover she also caught his. But thanks to experience, she questions his intentions. Evan is thoughtful, and doesn’t just pay attention to her, he spends time properly understanding her. Which easily wins her (and me) over.
Mignon Mykel: Rowan ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rowan comes from old and new money. And she wants out. She doesn’t care about the money, but she’s sticking it out for something more important to her. When his brother goes away with his daughter, she housesits for him. Which is where she runs into his best friend. The same one she slept with, and then did a disappearing act. But he’s not letting her get away this time. I assumed I was going to get the stereotypical novella cut off after they reunite, boy was I wrong! No one ever stays…but Walker stays. Like, really REALLY stays!
My Favorite Quotes: • “You don’t let go of something that was that good. Not without trying one more time to make sure it was really what you thought it was.” • “You may not know for sure, but I do.” • “Can’t have my mouth in two places at once.” • “You’re f!cking made for me.” • “You better be as naked as you are now when I get back here.” • “For such a pretty face, you have a filthy mouth.” brothers bff - marriage of convenience
Aubree Valentine: Willow ⭐️⭐️⭐️ There’s all kinds of secret identity in this one! Willow, Mr Tall Dark and Handsome. Neither told the other who they really were. But when the truth comes out, I’m not sure whose jaw hit the floor faster. Probably mine actually. Willow has always been treated like a child, until him. He’ll never get her out of his system, and he’s ready to prove it.
My Favorite Quotes: • “You’re distracted. Tell me what you need from me.” • “Watch me. Watch us. Stay with me. Got it?” • “If I can’t have you, no one else is going to lay their hands on you either.” • “If I am going to lose this job, I’m going to make damn sure I commit to memory every single inch of you.” secret identity - royalty
Tori Fox: Riot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tori tells you exactly like it is. And I definitely liked her. She’s the manager of an up and coming band. She’s been helping them build momentum over the last couple of years. They’ve put their trust in her, and now they’re a family. Roan has always had her attention, and she’s always had his. But she has one rule: don’t sleep with clients. It’s the one line she won’t cross. Roan will just move on, and leave her to pick up the pieces, and she won’t do that to the band. Pushing him away will be her, and the bands, downfall. So what happens when Roan hits his limit, and gives her the ultimatum: either step messing with his heart, or let it go?
My Favorite Quotes: • “You are the most incredible woman ever. And you better know, I am not giving up.” • “I’m willing to risk it all for you.” • “I always agree with you.” musician - workplace - forced proximity
M. Leigh Morhaime: Zette ⭐️⭐️ There’s a lot of detail before we figure out what’s really going on. Which means there’s less room for the full meal. And I was hungry. This stands out amongst the others. It’s not a romance at all. It’s true plot was Zette feeling lost and unsure of the unknown. She’s struggling in the “what if”. I really liked what Sean brought to the story, and into her life. But this one just wasn’t for me.
K. Peters: Kat ⭐️⭐️ Trigger Warnings include: Discussion of loss of a spouse/parent
Instantly interested with the way this opened, and then I was very confused. It wasn’t until nearly the end that I understood the timeline. I felt like I was reading two different stories at times. There’s plenty of heartbreak in this one. Both Kat and Tristan are just trying to get through life, get through another day as single parents. They’ve been connected for years. They lived separate lives, each got married and had kids. There’s an open ending, and a lot of questions.
My Favorite Quotes: • “We weren’t timed well, but we were real.” second chance - single parent miscommunication & assumptions are icky
Sutton Bishop: Fia ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This ends on a cliffhanger; it sets up a full length
Fia is a woman on a mission, and she’s got her sights set on Bram. According to her, she’s flirting with the devil, and she is 100% ready to climb into his bed. But we don’t know why. There’s plenty of opportunities to make guesses though! This is completely open ended. As it should be, since it is being turned into a full length. Definitely interested in where this could lead, and why it started to begin with!
My Favorite Quotes: • “You and I are just getting started.” • “I promise you, we’re going to enjoy ourselves.” the ceo type - age gap
Shannon O’Connor: Sawyer ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trigger Warnings include: alcoholism, cheating (being caught on page, not main character)
The trigger warnings are essentially the plot. Sawyer is telling her girlfriend her truth, the reasoning behind who she has become. I was indifferent when it came to the characters and the circumstances. Definitely a beautiful story of climbing out of the trenches and becoming your best self, for yourself. lgbtqa+
Kay Blake: Sienna ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is build up for an upcoming novel. Sienna owns a Pro Wrestling facility. It started as a training school, but now she’s gearing up for her first show. And just as the stress starts to settle in, her ex walks through the front doors. The one who left her, to further his own wrestling career, without ever considering her. But now he’s ready to prove he’s not that immature boy anymore. To prove he’s not the man he had become. To prove he is the man to love her in the ways she deserves.
My Favorite Quotes: • “I’ll do whatever you want. If you ask nicely.” • “You’ve always been mine and I’ve always been yours.” • “Give me whatever you can. I want it all.” • “You were always part of me ever since the day we first met.” sports romance: wrestling - second chance
I have only read a few stories in this anthology but I am loving all the strong women characters and also celebrating the women authors who make this anthology possible.
Sawyer by Shannon O’Connor. This was a great background story into one of the characters from the Eternal Port Valley series. I enjoyed reading about Sawyer’s past and how her actions lead her to meet Riley. Although it is a short story it still packed a punch and we were able to read about Sawyer’s strength of character to overcome a very tough addiction.
Aine by Dee Lagasse. Another strong woman character who decides to live life to the fullest and pursue her dreams even though it is not what is expected of her. What a journey but this story delivers a powerful message of grabbing every opportunity that is presented to you and making the most of your life.
Lily by K Leigh. Ms Leigh has written some very beautiful stories about strong women in the past and Lily is no exception. I loved this story as it is a story about acceptance and understanding that you are worthy of a full and happy life and not to let anyone let you think any different.
Penny by Persephone Autumn. This story is a beautiful story of love when Penny starts working for a new boss who just so happens to be her brother’s best friend. She has always had a crush on him and their entire relationship changes and imagine her surprise when Jameson admits he has had a crush on her too and in his eyes she is his Queen of Hearts.
I loved reading all these stories and I know I am going to love reading all the others that make up this amazing compilation by all these very talented authors.
I received an arc copy and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Aine by Dee Lagasse Every queen has dreams to chase. Aine is that queen, she has strong family ties that are tied to them and when she decides to chase after what she wants, she knows some dreams and people will be left behind. Dee has given us a queen on the brink of a life she has only imagined, while her brothers live them out loud. She decides to take the jump and follow them. When you decided to risk love for life of music and adventure, the queen will start to take her place upon the throne. These few chords of a song that Dee brings us is just the beginning of an amazing reign.
Fiadh by Amanda Cuff When the king is dethroned and he meets the Queen who took the power away from him, you get explosions. It’s fast and fierce, he doesn’t even know what hit him when he first meets Fiadh and that really is the power of a queen. Amanda has given us a story of redemption, forgiveness and lust. It’s heartwarming yet crushing all the same to see what one gives up for love and how it alters life, but it’s also rewarding when truths are spoken. Be ready to meet a queen who speaks her truths and always gets what she wants.
Lily by K Leigh Sometimes a queen is struck down only to be pickup and swept up by something lovely, something to take all the doubt she has before and make her more powerful. Lily is that. She loves but when the one who loves her back only loves her when they are alone, ties are bound to break. And the ties were broken and tied back together when Lily meets a raven hairs beauty. Their story is one of two queens. One of finally accepting you are worth more and you can take and have it all. I loved that about this story. As a queen should, take what is yours.
Under Cover by Sutton Bishop. I just finished Sutton Bishop’s part of this anthology and was blown away. Bishop’s is a very intriguing sexy revenge plot, that left me wanting more!!! NOW!!!!! Bishop introduces two dynamic characters Fia and Bram and the two burn up the pages.
SLOANE BY ELLIE ISAACSON: This was a quick but captivating read. It's been a while since I've read this author so felt like I was missing character backstories. Enjoyed it though and loved seeing the characters bring out the best in each other.
RIOT BY TORI FOX: This was lighter and without the suspense than I'm used to by this author, but kept my attention. Was still a nice insight to her new series and enjoyed getting to know the characters.
PENNY BY PERSEPHONE AUTUMN: This was a new to me author and one I'd be interested in reading more from in the future. While it was different from what I normally pick up, the clever detailing transfixed me and I just had to keep reading, so that speaks volumes of the author's talent.
ÁINE BY DEE LAGASSE: This was a great tease from this author, I'd be interested in seeing if she continues with it at a later date, which surprises me a little even though it really shouldn't. But her dash of Irish history was on the right side of the balance, without it being too much. Can't really comment on anything else since the story was just getting started when the pages ran out.
Thank you to Shannon O'Connor for providing me with an ebook copy of the novella, Sawyer, to read and review. Sawyer is part of a larger anthology, Evil Queen: A Charity Anthology, which is an annual anthology supporting women's empowerment. This edition's proceeds are supporting the charity WriteGirl, which is a creative writing and mentoring organization that empowers teen girls. This was such a powerful story of this character overcoming a huge challenge and beating the cycle that was her family history. I loved that it was focused around one of the characters from O'Connor's Eternal Port Valley series and gave us a look back into her past. It was great after reading the first 2 books of that series to gain more insight into what Sawyer has overcome to get where she is now. Definitely one I recommend!
Two of my girls @kat and @tori both have stories in here so it was a no brainer for me. I love how every story is titled off the main female characters name as well, empowering.
Monica by Kat Singleton is a peek and where our favorite sassy and bossy Monica is at in her life and with Aiden now, and they are everything you expect.
Riot by Tori Fox is a prequel to her new Saints & Sinners series. She is a boss b***h and runs the band. she resists Roan for as long as she can… but who can truly resist a rockstar?! We will see more of them throughout the series.
All proceeds from the sale of Evil Queen will be donated to WriteGirl: a creative writing and mentoring organization that promotes creativity, critical thinking and leadership skills to empower teen girls.
What is better than women empowering women? Here’s a badass group of femaleauthors who compiled a collection of amazing stories featuring strong females. Each story is unique, each with a spice level ranging from very mild to very spicy. Some leave you satisfied, some have fun twists, and some leave you wanting more! These stories are beautifully written and will leave you inspired, breathless, and possibly needing a cold shower. It's impossible to review all the stories thanks to IG limits, but some of my favorites are: Garbo – a 2nd chance sweet romance with a dose of drama adding a little twist Rowan – spoiled rich girl to the public but on the inside she’s self-driven into her own secret career who falls for her brother’s best friend Riot – rockstar romances are always so much fun Zette – a sweet story about a girl, with encouragement, finally pursues her true passion and possibly finds unexpected love in the process Lily – shunned in public by her secret girlfriend only to find a much better romance by an best-selling author Freya – boss babe chef opening her own kitchen with an admirer who to her surprise ends up helping save her opening day and then more! And my absolute favorite was Ember – this girl worked her way tothe top of the crew, running her own yacht for the rich finds herself in a triangle between the filthy rich guy offering her the world and the hot chef. The ending on this one…damn!
Sloane Popstar 🎙️ Kolton Bodyguard with claustrophobia 🏋️♂️
Sloane known as a diva and called one by her bodyguard, but really what is a Diva? And really when doesn't the public eat up drama! Kolton is a pretty quiet guy who does his job well giving him a cocky confidence. That Sloane definitely notices and wishes she didn't, kind of. What happens though when your protector is overcome with fear and needs you to save him?
*Ember Kandi Steiner
Ember Chief Stew Mega Yacht ⛵ Finn Yacht Chef 👨🍳 Carson East Billionaire 💰
This one surprised me Ember may have a little real Evil Queen in her. It did make the ending fun in a naughty sort of way. 😉
*Fiadh Amanda Cuff
Fiadh/Kennedy Stone Journalist 📰 Jackson Pierce Hollywood Actor 🎬 Amy Ex-wife 💔
A little mistaken identity is it or a lie by omission. Then there is the story that ruined a family and drove two careers. Fia is a handful that's for sure. Will Jackson be able to handle her or is she up no good, again?
*Penny Persephone Autumn
Penny works in tattoo shop🍬 Jameson new owner of shop📇
Not gonna lie I adore these characters. Penny and Jameson are spicey right from the start. The banter is fantastic, the playfulness. But how will this brothers best friend story end?
Check out these Evil Queens today, there not all that evil but they are all amazing! I have voluntarily left this review!
Through the dual POVs of Penelope ‘Penny/Pen’ Jane Singleton and Jameson Kingsley, Persephone Autumn tells a short story of the two in this Bestfriend Little Sister/Brothers Best Friend.
This mini novella was sweet, light and cute. Creating a story that allowed us to follow the journey of Penny and Jameson coming together, whilst getting to know them at the same time. Considering the history they share, which is made known to us throughout. Although we were already introduced to Penny inBay Area Duetseries, this short story allowed us more of an insight into her and her life.
My only thing was the ending had me wishing for more, not only because it was too short of a story given the 7 chapters. But because it was such an enjoyable read that it had me wanting more from Penny and Jameson. Here’s hoping that Persephone Autumn will write a full story for them since they both deserve it. And it would make for a fun read overall.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another strong one by Amanda Cuff, I deeply enjoyed this and felt like it would work as a longer story just as well. Maybe the shortness added to the overall effect. I didn’t feel like it was lacking anything. However long it took me to read it, it was not a waste of time. I will be thinking about what on earth happens next for a long while.
Who is Fiadh? And who is Jackson? We don’t actually know. There’s little to be found out here, but every word was used to its full potential. You aren’t left hanging. I just loved it and would love to read the full anthology !💕
What better way to find new authors, than to have a book full of short stories by them?!!
And I love that this is a charity anthology - so congrats on that!
Each heroine/couple and storyline is different, so there will definitely be something for everyone.
I'll be honest - I've not read all the stories yet, but what I have read has been very good!
My fav so far has been Persephone Autumn - Penny: Just when tattooist Penny is questioning what's going to happen with the business, in steps Jameson, her brothers bestie as the new boss - cue the spice and attraction. I'm hoping this turns into a full-length novel 🤞
What a great collection of short stories! This is a really great way to discover new authors. These quick reads are great when you are needing a quick escape.
Evil Queen an anthology of stories about strong women. These women don't let anyone talk them down and they are so badass. Their stories even though they are short, are really great and they just empower you to be stronger. There is a trope for everyone, from bodyguard to second chance... Overall, a great read and it permitted me to discover new authors!
Starting off strong with Sloane by Ellie Isaacson. I need more Kolton and Sloane asap! I love the bodyguard/client trope... throw in some forced proximity with a twist and *chef's kiss* you get this gem.
Garbo by Georgana Roland: very very good! I can't wait to read more about Garbo and Cash(please give us more!) I was stressed at one point and I'm sure other readers were as well!
all of these short stories were so good!!! definitely the perfect amount a fierce boss ladies and hunky heroes with just the right touch of spice thrown in!
I have only read Sawyer by Shannon O'Connor. This is a great back story for Sawyer. It gives a better feel for who she is. It is more of a character building and revealing than a love story. Not to say that there isn't a love story too….Once you read this story you are going to want to devour the Eternal Port Valley series.
Fidah by Amanda Cuff 5⭐️ This book packed a punch, especially for such a short story. Dang, Fidah did her thing! She was honest, stood her ground and then she took what she wanted without apologies. I loved how this story was able to go from rock bottom to emotional closure with steam added in because, why not??

Sawyer by Shannon O’Connor – Being new to Shannon O’Connor’s work i wanted to dive into this story! Right from the prologue, Sawyer had my full attention. The realness that poured from Sawyer got to me. I really enjoyed how this story tackled things i don’t see often. From the tough times to the hope that shined, this story got me right in the heart and feels! I can’t wait to read more from Shannon!
Keeley by Renee Dyer – I’ve been wanting to pick up more of Renee Dyer’s work. I am so glad that i got the chance to do so with Keeley! Gosh, how i loved this story! Keeley is a quarterback and Chase is sent to her team by his own. These’s two don’t get off on the right foot, can they work together and peel back their layers? I related to Keeley in so many ways. As a lover of a male dominated sport since childhood, i know first hand what it’s like to have men put you down. To see Keeley’s strength, her kick-butt ways, and humanness shine in this story truly got to me. I wish i could have read this story when i was younger. Chase had me falling for him as well. I loved the way this story shed light on things that really need to be talked about in sports / in the world. Everyone deserves to play the sports they love. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Penny by Persephone Autumn – Whenever i get to pick up more of Persephone Autumn’s work, it always brings a big smile to my face! I was so glad to hear she was writing a story for this anthology. Once i started Penny, i couldn’t turn away! When a blast from Penny’s past, Jameson comes back into her life, more importantly at the tattoo shop she works at she’s surprised and so is he. Can they work together? And can they handle the sparks between them? I love how giddy these two made me from the moment they’re reunited. I really related to Penny, especially when it came to figuring things out in her life. She had such determination that i so admired. Jameson won me over quickly. BYP Forever, if you know, you know.😉 I so need more of this world in my life, pretty please! I can’t wait for more from this author!
Sienna by Kay Blake – Being new to Kay Blake i was so thrilled to jump into this story! I haven’t read many wrestling stories so Sienna was so refreshing for me. As a wrestling lover myself it was so fun to read. Sienna’s story pulled me in! When she’s brought face to face with Dennis, can she ignore their past? or is there something there? I love how Sienna went after her dreams. I understood her in many ways. I warmed up to Dennis. I really enjoyed getting this look into their story. I can’t wait for Flirting With Disaster!
Camilla by Cali Melle – When i found out Cali Melle was featured in this anthology i was so happy! I’ve been so into her Wyncote Wolves lately and been so excited for more of her words. Camilla’s story brought the feels and spice! Camilla Knight was such an awesome mom, strong woman, and kick-butt human. I admired the way she rose above, made a life for her son, and became CEO of CK Sports Management. When talent scout Owen Hart comes into her world, can she ignore the sparks and just work with him? I loved the realness these two brought, especially when it came to business and balance. I can’t wait for more from this author! 💗
Penelope by Malynda Schlegel – Being new to Malynda Schlegel’s work i couldn’t wait to get into this story! Penelope’s journey captured my attention right from the very get go! I love that despite everything, she went after her dreams. I related to her in ways that had me wanting to hug her through my kindle. The emotions and realness that poured from her story got to me. You never know what’ll happen, just take the chance, and Penelope’s story showed that. I so enjoyed what Sawyer brought to the story! I could picture it all so clearly as well! I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Lily by K. Leigh – I’ve been wanting to read K. Leigh’s work for quite some time. I am so happy that i got the chance to do so with this story! Lily’s journey was one that got me right in the heart quickly! She’s dealing with a situation when her friend Jade arrives at the perfect time. What happens when attraction can’t be ignored? I loved how real Lily and Jade became for me. These two made me grin, feel so much, and most definitely blush! We all want someone who isn’t afraid to show the world they love us, and the beauty that can be found when that happens is utterly breathtaking. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Isabella by Savannah Stewart – Being new to Savannah Stewart’s work, i wanted to read this story! I love the way Isabella’s story unfolded and how it kept me on my toes. It was realistic and that had me falling for this story even more so. Isabella’s journey tackled friendship, attraction, fear, truths, work, life, and many things in between. I adored what River brought to the story! Sometimes we’re led in directions we didn’t see coming, i think that’s one of the many beautiful things about living, and this story showed that. I so want to read more from this author!
Freya : An Amuse-Bouche by KF Hassall – Being new to KF Hassall’s work i couldn’t wait to get into this story! Once i started it, i was pulled in quickly! Freya is a chef who has worked her butt off to get where she’s at. When she’s in need of ingredients, Andrés is there to help. Can it lead to something more? Wow! This brought the feels, spice, and awesomeness! I love Freya’s passion for her work and how she wasn’t one to let others down play her worth. Andrés stole my heart! Freya and Andrés had me all in the feels! 😍 This story showed in spades what it means to go after what you want in life. Also, i adored the fact that i could picture everything so clearly and let me tell you, i was so hungry after this read! I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Áine by Dee Lagasse – Having read Dee Lagasse’s work many times before it always makes me smile whenever i get to pick up more of her work! I got into Áine’s story right away. I loved how Áine had courage and wanted to go after her dreams. I understood her in many ways and that got me even more into the story. Her family meant so much to her which showed. I so enjoyed what each character brought to the story as well, especially Michael. There was sweetness, funny, spice, heartwarming, and hope shown throughout that i just adored! I can’t wait for more from this author!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this anthology from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the authors*
I really just wanted to read Rowan by Mignon Mykel, and I want so much more! It's a prequal with a sexy scene and the characters hooked me right away. Hopefully we get their full story next year! I read a bunch of others, not all yet, and they're all short, which is great for a quick escape. Although some are harder to follow because I'm not familiar with pretty much any other author here besides Mignon Mykel. A lot have been fine on their own, but there was one for example that was about a married couple, who I can only assume already had a full story some where, but since I hadn't read it, their short really didn't do anything for me. I plan on keep working my way through the rest, when I need a break between full novels. I would say it's worth picking this up even if you don't know the authors, you may discover a new favorite. I already went and looked up some other books based on shorts from this.
“Tonight she was Fia Laurent…” Wait. What? Who is she the other 364 nights of the year? Why is she this Fia person tonight? Sutton Bishop’s first five words of "Under Cover" had me hooked and furiously reading to learn the answers. For a short piece, it is loaded to the brim with secrets, scheming, suspense, and steamy sex! This story is a perfect addition to a romance anthology like Evil Queen and I cannot wait to read more!
My review is for Sloane by Ellie Isaacson and this story is set in a brand new world and focuses on the forbidden relationship between Sloane who is a singer and Kolton, the man assigned to protect her as her bodyguard😇
I really enjoyed this story and I hope it’s a world that Ellie returns to as I’m intrigued with these characters🤩 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
Ava follows a woman freshly divorced from a husband who had very little regard for her feelings or career goals. As the host of a live show where she interviews celebrities, she is often in the public eye and meets all sorts of people. One night, she interviews an actor (whose physical descriptions reminds me of Henry Cavill, might I add 😏) and finds herself charmed by him despite having sworn off men due to her shitty ex husband.
Ava was such a relatable character with the coolest people surrounding her; her friends (namely Karla) were supportive and funny. Evan seemed like a great match for post-divorce Ava, and I loved their immediate-but-not-rushed connection. Highly recommend!
This particular short story features a woman still freshly reeling from a (a very much warranted) divorce. She's still struggling with all the hurt and anger after her ex-husband essentially wanted her to drop her life, goals, and dreams to be basically barefoot and pregnant.
I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. I definitely felt the raw emotions and could tell this was a piece that was very close and personal to the author's heart. Ava was an absolute powerhouse and deserves nothing but the best. She was written so strong yet she had all the vulnerabilities that make her human, which made me as a reader relate to her as if she were real. If Ava is an "evil queen" then I can only hope to be as bad as her 😉
Evil Queen Anthology is an amazing collection of unforgettably spicy short stories. With bold, sassy and strong heroines ready to be hard working, fierce and let nothing stand in her way of accomplishing her dreams. This charity anthology, with all its proceeds going to a truly amazing organization, is sure to inspire, embolden and lift other women up. Encouraging them through the power of the written word. These stories have characters you can’t help but to be drawn to. I will highlight a couple of my favorites but I recommend everyone grab this amazing collection to support this great cause and enjoy this remarkable collection.
Ember by Kandi Steiner ( Chief Stew and Hotter than anything coming out of his kitchen, cook Finn. We all loved to hate, and now hate that we might now love. From Close Quarters) Ember gives us the short story of a chief stew on a charter yacht in the Mediterranean. She has worked her fanny off to get where she is at the lady in charge. While catering to the super rich and hot Ember finds herself at essentially a crossroads of sorts. She has been the one thus far to provide her charter guests will all the luxury and lavishness she can and now she is being offered a chance at being spoiled like that. But at the same time for a while Ember has been in a constant battle with the cook, Finn. Mr, hotter than anything coming out of his kitchen, Finn and Ember have been battling each other in some smexy tension filled banter for a while now and they just need to bang it out already. His whispers in her ear of the things he wants to do to her are hotter than anything he could possibly have cooking up on the stove. It is just the perfect short, but oh so explosive encounter!!
Camilla~ Cali Melle
Camilla is the short novella where we are introduced to Camilla Knight and Owen Hart. Camilla is a hard working single mom to a young, Hockey loving son, Logan Knight. ( who eventually grows up to be our Hero in Cross Checked Hearts. Wyncote Wolves #1) She has spent years working hard and building a successful business and now at twenty-nine is CEO of her own company. When a business meeting introduces her to Owen Hart, who is obviously attracted to her. She shares in that attraction but where Owen is upfront about it she is more uncomfortable and tries to put distance between them. Let’s just say his persistence pays off, and Camilla decides to give into what she really wants. I love how it literally goes from dinner to down and dirty so fast. YUMMY!! If you haven’t met the Wyncote Wolves Hockey series by Cali Melle you absolutely NEED to ASAP. FOUR FLAMING FUN, FLIRTY, FEISTY, AND FIERCE STARS!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Blog|Facebook|Instagram|Goodreads|BookBub|Amazon
Evil Queen is an annual romance anthology celebrating women's empowerment and it is jammed packed with short stories and novellas about powerful women. While romance is always the underlying theme, this anthology is truly meant to inspire readers that women can do anything if they set their minds to it.
There is a little bit of everything contained within the pages. Full short stories, prequels, characters you may have been introduced to before, spicy, sweet and everything in between.
Kandi Steiner added her own spicy short story that is wickedly brilliant and was both captivating and had a brilliant twist. Her powerful leading lady, Ember, embodied the spirit of this anthology and her short story is one not to miss!
Persephone Autumn contributed a sweeter story. Penny has had a crush on her new boss forever, he's her brother's best friend after all, but working together changes their relationship, especially when she's working close to him.
Tori Fox's short story contained a powerful leading lady. Riot is the manager of a rising rock band and working hard to make their star rise. Riot has rules when it comes to the band, but she's also human when it comes to keeping her attraction on the back burner. The tension in this story, gave it the perfect amount of steam.
