The Costa Brothers #2

Bruno & Gloria and the Five Golden Rings

Rate this book
It’s not at all awkward when it turns out that you have to work with your blind date the next day.

Gloria
Going on a date was a risk I took so I wouldn’t be alone this Christmas. He was handsome, charming, and slightly preoccupied, but in his defense, I had spinach in my teeth. (The artichoke dip appetizer was too good to pass up. We’ll pretend I wasn’t mortified when I discovered it later.)

Bruno
I watched a movie where the guy fake dated a woman so he didn’t show up at the family holiday gathering single. Seemed like something worth trying. She was pretty and sweet, but slightly distracted. In her defense, she mentioned starting a new job the next day, so she gets a pass on the jitters.

Gloria
Turns out last night’s date is my new boss. Let’s just say we do not get off on the right foot. Nope, a klutz in high heels, I broke his left little toe. I think. I make an executive decision and switch to my sequined Christmas elf slippers. The accident wasn’t because I swooned when I saw him in that tailored suit. Not this biz babe.

Bruno
Never mind figuring out a way to force myself to stay in this small town, working together every day is proving impossible. With the Christmas party coming up, how will I manage to balance the books at my family’s pizza shop while keeping my eyes (and hands) off Santa’s top elf? Help! Save me from myself.

This is book 2 in the Costa Brothers Cozy Christmas Comfort Romance Series, following six single, stubborn, and loyal brothers as they find their happily ever afters. They’re clean and wholesome romance, faith-friendly, stand alone stories but are best enjoyed together.

I’ve got a sweet spot for Ellie Hall’s characters and the stories she weaves. I love them. They are entertaining, they are sweet and they are pure enjoyment. And this second book in the Costa family series is no exception. I am loving learning more about the Costa family and their wonderful sibling dynamic.

Bruno and Gloria’s story was sweet, funny, charming, swoon-worthy, and entertaining. When they meet during a blind date using a dating app, they immediately hit it off. The next day however, awkwardness ensues as they both discover Bruno is Gloria’s new boss, plus that they both are living in the same small apartment complex! It was such a fun setup, and I loved it from beginning to end, and was especially happy with the conclusion.

This was a such an enjoyable, solid, sweet read. I adore this author, and definitely this book. If you need some fluffy, swoony goodness in your life, look no further.

"I've never wanted to kiss her more but am not sure if this is hello or goodbye."
Bruno comes home to help his family and his brother's new pizza and pie place. Gloria moves to take a new job and get a fresh start after heartbreak. Her first night there, she has a blind date with "Bryan" and is enchanted by their chemistry and his charm. When she shows up at her new job the next day to find "Bryan" is actually "Bruno" and his charm is locked deep down under his business persona, she is disappointed. Can Gloria convince Bruno that there is more to life than making it to the top in his career?
This was a charming love story. It had Hallmark vibes, and I have been delighted by the Costa family as we get to know them through each story. It was wonderful seeing how Gloria's joy and kindness helped soften Bruno's edges and made him rethink his goals and what was important to him. I also enjoyed seeing how Bruno's family supported and helped each other. I have loved each installment of this series and look forward to the next story!

✨Bruno & Gloria and the Five Golden Rings de Ellie Hall serie The Costa Brothers Cozy Christmas Comfort Romance libro 2🎄

Argumento:

¡Ayudar!

I enjoyed getting to know Bruno and Gloria along with their many qualities. I didn't think these two would fall so quickly, but I enjoyed the journey.

I love how they were very different in what they wanted but we're able to see through each other's experiences what they truly wanted in life.

I LOVE the huge family aspect and how much they support each other even when they don't always want it.

Five attempts at a proposal, five “golden” rings. One sad Bruno. Or maybe it’s Bryan?

I loved book 2 in the Cozy Costs Brothers Christmas series by @elliehallauthor it’s got everything that reminds me of a great rom on - online/app dating, close-proximity, horrible living conditions (which cause more close proximity), on-site work relationships, sunshiny lead, and a HUGE Italian family! Think of My Big Fat Greek Wedding… only major it Italian!!! 😂😂😂

Romance level: kissing.

I loved this book! Second in the Costa's series. I loved their first meeting. It was so funny! Gloria is so relatable and quirky.

Don't get me started on the second meet cute😂the tension between these two was everything. The kiss🔥.

I loved Bruno's grounded, logical and grumpy self. Gloria's sparkly merry personality was 💕. She was the exact balance Bruno needed. I loved that she was so smart, funny and clumsy.

I loved the forced proximity in the office and the slight enemies-to-lovers vibes. His family is everything and I was so happy with them. The thing with this book was that they were so open to discuss stuff, even what Bruno was not saying due to past hurt! They openly spoke how they felt and why they couldn't give in.

The main plot was something else! I loved the description of life and it's hard decisions. I felt connected with the struggle. I also loved Gloria for standing up for herself. Bruno asking for help was precious🥺

The last deep talk was everything! The big gesture , the rings, the family, the love, the growth. This book has it all and I love it! I have no doubt each brother will be amazing💙

I love the mention of God for the important aspects of the story. My heart felt happy to read it

Ellie Hall definitely became an auto-buy, favorite author for me! I am in love with this series, I can't wait for the next book!

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Gloria & Bruno’s point of view

Review:

I enjoyed this story even more than Tommy & Merry’s! Gloria and Bruno were such a great fit together and I enjoyed the drastic change between their blind date and the next morning at work. It made it very interesting to me, especially since Bruno instigated it and Gloria tried various ways to get him to crack after seeing a few signs that he may not have really meant what he had said that first day of work. I also grew to really like Nico and wanted to see more of him, even though he was kind of crushing on Gloria. (Why is Nico the last book of this series?!?😢) Some of my favorite scenes included: the hand, the five ‘golden’ rings, Costa siblings meddling, Gloria’s workplace décor war, and Ma’s comments.

When Gloria is unexpectedly dumped, she feels the need to go somewhere else to start over. The only place she considers is the place that could make her feel closer to her father: Hawk Ridge Hollow. Her father had always talked about his time there as a kid and how he wanted to bring Gloria and her brother there one day. But he passed before he had the chance. Now, Gloria is taking the reins of her life into her own hands and looking for the happiness she thought she once had. Even if it means going to a town she’s never been to and signing up for a blind dating app.

Bruno had his heart shattered when his last girlfriend broke his trust and does not want his family trying to set him up with someone new. So he signs up for a blind dating app in hopes of finding someone he’d be willing to bring to family functions as a fake date. He doesn’t expect to start falling for the girl he meets based on her choice of dessert, but some things just can’t be planned.

Neither Gloria nor Bruno leave that blind date with regrets, in fact they are both thrilled with the connection they had. But the next morning changes everything. That’s when Gloria finds out that not only is Bruno her boss, but that he acts very different than he did the night before. It’s like her ex all over again. Bruno decides to close himself off from Gloria the best he can, as he believes that relationships should not mix with work.

But with the already established mutual interest, the close quarters of their workspace, and the pokes they throw at each other, it’s only a matter of time before they drop their walls once again in favor of the love brewing between them…

"Gloria: Do you actually like the Office? Some people just say that because they think it's the right or cool answer". "Bryan (Bruno): If liking the Office is wrong, I don't want to be Dwight".

"This started as a blind date and progressed to the best three hours I've spent with anyone in a long time". "With Bryan (Bruno), I feel anchored, rooted, and certain I've come home. I'm supposed to be here, in Hawk Ridge Hollow, with this man, at this time. It's like it's meant to be".

Maravilloso.

Another book in the Costa Brothers Cozy Christmas Comfort Romance series! Bruno finally gets his HEA with his fiery Italian blind date. This is a quick, sweet read about the importance of family, love, and doing the things that really matter.
I adored Gloria! I felt kinda bad for her honestly because she was struggling after her loser boyfriend broke up with her. But I loved her enthusiasm and fire. She wasn’t about to let Bruno push her around, and she pushed him until he loved Christmas as much as she did. And it was adorable to see her with the Costa family. She fit in right away!
I honestly had a hard time with Bruno though. I think that some of their fighting/flirting moments didn’t hit home for me. But the dark, brooding type isn’t my favorite, so that was also part of it. I did appreciate how much he adored his family, and he was willing to give up everything for them. But would he be willing to actually take a leap of faith on the pizzeria and on love?
And of course, the Costa Family who I love! They’re nosy without any sense of personal space, and they all adore each other. They feel like a real family to me. I didn’t love their banter as much this time, but I really liked seeing more of Frankie and her kids! They were pushing Gloria and Bruno together all along.
This is a pretty short book, so the romance moves pretty fast. I would have liked to see Bruno and Gloria spend a little bit more time together, but I do understand that there is only so much time. I think that I didn’t get as into this story as much as I did Tommy and Merry’s. But it was still fun, and it's perfect for anyone looking for a fun, short Christmas romance! I’d recommend it to any romcom fan :)

What's not to love about this book as well as this series. It has wonderful characters, lots of humor and best of all it takes place at Christmas. I am really enjoying this series and the Costa family. Being Italian I just love this big Italian family that is loyal to one another and they do know how to enjoy food. I also really like that the chapters switch from his to her point of view.

When Bruno Costa (Bryan) meet using a dating app they have no idea that they will be working very closely together. They both recently moved to Hawk's Ridge and she had no idea that the handsome guy she hit it off with so well, would end up being her boss. He's acting so differently at work that at first she thought she had a date with his twin brother. But Gloria is no wimp and she won't back down even when he wants to fire her. She's determined to bring some Christmas spirit into their work environment to get her workaholic boss to lighten up.

Bruno wants to be called Bryan by his family and coworkers because he thinks that Bruno seems like a thug's name. So when he meets Gloria at a local restaurant, he introduces himself as Bryan. They hit it off really well but when he discovers she is going to work for him, he puts the brakes on a relationship with
a coworker. He tried that once and it almost destroyed him. But Gloria is the perfect girl for him and she fits right in with his Italian family. She's smart and loves to play tricks on him and he is amazed when she speaks Italian.

Watching these two flirt and tease one another was so much fun. When his past job wants him back will he make the biggest mistake of his life?.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While this is a part of a series, you really don't have to read the prior one to understand and enjoy this one. I would recommend it though as it really does set the stage for this one.

The story is told in a dual POV format. I love getting that glimpse into the character's thoughts to fully understand and connect to the characters better.

Gloria comes to town to get away from her old life after being dumped by her old boyfriend for a new start in life. She belongs to a dating site and is immediately matched to several men in her new town. One of those sounds like a charming man. She agrees to meet Bryan at a local restaurant. Gloria and Bryan hit it off right from the beginning. The next day she goes to her new job and discovers that Bryan is actually Bruno. For professional purposes, Bruno uses the name Bryan. Bruno Costa leaves his prestigious career in New York to help with the new "family" business. Bruno doesn't intend to stay long. Only long enough to see the business gets up and running or becomes a flop.

Will Bruno give up his dream career in New York for Gloria? Will Gloria decide to go with him? Can Bruno and Gloria even find romance amongst the workplace? Will Bruno decide that being with his large Italian American family really be better than the "big-time"?

This is a sweet, clean romances with just a few kissing scenes.

After her engagement ends, Gloria Cardellini decides to make a fresh start in Hawk Ridge Hollow, the small town her late father loved as a child. The apartment she rented sight unseen turns out to be a little less than welcoming, but she's still hoping for good things from her new job. Unfortunately, when she arrives for her first day, she discovers that her new boss is the same man with whom she went on a blind date the night before, and his attitude has completely transformed from friendly to frosty.

Bruno Costa is also new in town, having moved to Hawk Ridge Hollow from New York City to help out with his family's new business. In an effort to keep his parents from nagging him about settling down, he'd joined a dating app to find a fake date for several upcoming family gatherings. He's just as stunned as Gloria to find out that they'll be working together, and even though they'd hit it off and talked for hours over dinner the night before, there's no way he can risk getting involved with someone at work. He'd tried that back in New York and the relationship ended badly; now, his sole focus is moving forward in his career. However, the more he tries to keep his distance from Gloria, the harder it seems to be. Can Gloria convince Bruno that there's more to life than work and that he should give love a chance?

This book was even better than the first one of the series! The way Bruno and Gloria bantered, teased, and played games in the office gave me major "Hating Games" vibes, and I loved it. Bruno was so sweet and protective when he finally started to let his guard down. Gloria really seemed to bring out the best in him and it was a joy to watch them fall in love.

Overall, I adored this funny, sweet story and highly recommend it for fans of the grumpy-sunshine trope. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

What I read: Bruno & Gloria and the Five Golden Rings by Ellie Hall

Why I picked it up: I love a series, so at my mom’s recommendation I’m going to try this Christmas one at this “half way to Christmas” time of the year.

How I read it: On Kindle Unlimited in a day – someone mentioned that it was 6 months to Christmas, so I thought why not start a Christmas series!

What it’s about: Bryan/Bruno and Gloria met on a blind date through a dating app – then come to find out he’s her boss at her new job. They had an amazing time, but now he’s got the “dating someone at work” jitters. Will her Christmas joy win him over?

What I liked: It’s a sweet story – it happens concurrently with book #1, which was a tad odd, but nevertheless it’s sweet.

What I disliked: They get married (sorry, but seriously, you knew it was coming) within a month or something ridiculous (just like the last one). Not just fast relationships, but super fast marriages, which feels a little much especially since you knew it was going to be a series.

Genre: Christmas, chaste love story, small town, family.

Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and it’s sweet – and a great follow up.

A fun read that will keep you involved
This book was just what I needed after a stressful day. It’s a fun, light read that will keep you wanting to read just a little more. Gloria is a businesswoman who has decided to move to Hawk Ridge Hollow after a nasty break up with her fiancé. She’s lined up an apartment and a job she can’t wait to start. The job isn’t as grand as she hoped but it was a start in a new town. On a whim she accepts a date from a dating app with a man named Bryan. Bryan, or Bruno to his family, has left his high powered, business job in New York to help out his family but Hawk Ridge Hollow is not New York and he still has his goals. He just wants to meet someone he can take to family parties. Little do they realize that Bruno is Gloria’s new boss and that they both are living in the same small apartment complex. Sparks fly of both good and bad varieties as these two strong, capable, Italians work together to get the family business up and running. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Enjoy another Summer Christmas story from Ellie Hall! 🌲

Bruno aka Bryan aka Bruno Costa is only looking for a "girlfriend" he can bring to family events. If he brings a girl home, his parents will stop pestering him about dating or putting down roots.

Gloria moved to a new place and wants to get over for cheating boyfriend, Cole ... who ran off and changed his name to Cosmo.

One casual date sparks a deeper interest, but they're fighting the attraction. No employee fraternization! But is that a policy or just stubbornness when Gloria and Bruno work in the small office above Costa's Pizza & Pie in Hawk Ridge Hollow. 💛

Bruno and Gloria first meet during a blind date. But things get awkward when they realize that Bruno is actually Gloria’s new boss AND they are both living in the same apartment complex!

Quick thoughts:
LIKES - I have such a fondness for the characters in Ellie’s books! They are so charming and like-able! And Bruno and Gloria were no exception! I love the big Costa family and how they are woven through each story as well! And the setting - so cozy and sweet!! This book is a must read - at the holidays or anytime of the year.

DISLIKES - Nothing!

Gloria is new in town and trying to meet people. When her dating app lets her know there’s potential dates around, she goes on the perfect blind date. Too bad the next day she finds out he’s her boss. And who is he anyway? Is he Bryan or Bruno or are they the same?

I loved this office romance with so many references to The Office. I love that Gloria fit right into the Costa fam. The attraction and tension between Gloria and Bruno was amazing. I love the pranks with the hand and the general feel of the book. This was an amazing quick read. I can’t wait for the rest of the Costa brothers’ stories. Also is Paulo real? I’m beginning to think he’s imaginary as well.

Thank you to the author for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Bruce aka Bryan and Gloria are both passionate about numbers, but she has a Christmas loving, slipper making, knitting, dancing, and fun loving side. He does too, but he grumpily hides it behind his quest to be successful. Gloria does bring out his fun side. I laughed over their antics in the office with hiding the tiny hand and her many Christmas decorations. Her brother wanted to bring in someone to inspect her dive apartment and should have done so soon threatening the owner with all the safety violations. I would love to be in Bruno’s situation where financially he never has to work again, but he has to decide if going after professional success at the cost of personal happiness is worth it.

New in town, Gloria agrees to a blind date with a guy she meets through a local dating app. “Bryan” is charming, funny, and just the kind of man she has been hoping to meet. The date even ends with the perfect first kiss. As excited as she is at the prospect of a new relationship, Gloria has to focus on the new job she’s starting. When she arrives at the building she is supposed to be working in she realizes the job is not what she was expecting. Her new boss Bruno is also her new love interest “Bryan”.

Bruno & Gloria and the Five Golden Rings is a holiday romcom with just the right amount of sweetness and humor. This book is the second book in the Costas Brothers Cozy Christmas Comfort Romance series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend reading the first book as well.

Bruno and Gloria have swoony chemistry from their very first meeting. Bruno is a bit of a grump workaholic and Gloria just wants to bring sunshine and silliness to everyone around her, even in the workplace. In spite of their rocky start, the book is fairly low angst.

Without giving anything away, I like the way the author uses five different ring shaped objects to reflect the five golden rings.

This is a clean holiday romance. There are no spicy scenes or questionable language.

I have now read several books from author Ellie Hall and have enjoyed every one. I find her style and sense of humor delightful. I look forward to reading the rest of the Costas Brothers series andI can’t wait to see who’s story we get next.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Ellie Hall for sending me the ARC!

Bruno/Bryan and Gloria are both new to town, and meet on a blind date via a dating app. As it turns out, he's her new boss, with a no fraternization policy. That's a shame, because she fits in so well with his family, and his parents love her. This is a feel-good story, and had me smiling all the way to the end. I love the closeness between Gloria and her brother, and also between all of the Costa siblings. Two brothers down, four to go... Another Costa brother gets his HEA and this time it’s the uptight, business minded Bruno. He comes home to help with the financial side of the new family pizza shop. His eldest brother has hired Bruno an assistant and that is Gloria, his blind date from the day before. This family is so funny, I just love them the wit and banter is spot on. Bruno has to decide if he wants to give love a shot or if his real goal is moving back to New York to his upscale life and job. It is a great story!.

Bruno and the Five Golden Rings

Ellie Hall has given us a cute Christmas series. The second book in the series follows Bruno, the accountant, who has moved from New York to help the family start their business. His brother hires an assistant for Bruno without his knowledge. That assistant is Gloria, his blind date from the night before. Both of them have uprooted their lives to move to Hawk Ridge Hollow. Will Bruno finally settle down or will he head back to New York the first chance he gets?

Oh this is such fun. Gloria and Bruno meet for a blind date and then discover they will be working together. I loved Gloria's sense of fun and that she could bring that out in Bruno too. Despite assorted problems, and indecisive career decisions on Bruno's part, they do get their HEA. This book has fun, laughs, quirks, family and love. I love this family (and hope Gloria's brother gets a book too!!)

This is a sweet romance that was an absolute joy to read! It was wonderful visiting the Costa family again and Bruno and Gloria's story is so good. It's full of love for family and finding out what's really important in life. It will leave you with a smile. I loved everything about this book and hated to see it end. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

So, Ellie did it again. I don't know how she does it but every book I've read by her, I ended up loving them!!

And the story between Gloria and Bruno... oh gosh, it was so good! It's an insta-love + boss dating and I just loved it!

The fact that Gloria has Italian roots. I mean, it was all destiny! and just let me tell you how hard Bruno/Bryan tried to fight the love he was feeling towards Gloria, but at the end, when he realizes that he's hopelessly in love with her... and the connection to the title...

You MUST read this series and meet the Costa siblings!
