Make Mine a Unicorn

Rate this book
Unicorns are supposed to sparkle.

Alpha Roscoe works from home creating jingles for ads. It's a lucrative business, and he works as much or as little as he wants. But recently, he’s taken to doodling on scraps of paper, and without giving it much thought, each time he’s drawn a unicorn.

Intrigued, he heads to the local library to research the mythical beasts where he meets an elderly man named Mr. Lucas and his blue-haired nephew, Harry, who regale him with tales of unicorns.

Harley is an omega unicorn shifter. He lives a solitary life because unlike wolves, bears, and lions, his mythical beast sets him apart from others. Until he meets a dragon shifter and his nephew and they get to talking.

Intending to meet his new friends at the local library, Harley wanders around checking out books. But neither the elderly man nor the younger one with blue hair turns up. Instead, Harley bumps into an alpha and everything falls out of the alpha’s bag, including his unicorn sketches.

Harley takes fright, and it’s up to Roscoe to convince the omega it was an accident. But was it, the alpha asks himself.

Make Mine A Unicorn is the sixth book in the M/M mpreg shifter, sweet-with-knotty-heat series. It features an alpha who can’t stop thinking of unicorns, an omega unicorn shifter wanting to connect with people, a pair of matchmakers who use unusual methods to achieve their matches, a cute baby, and a happy ending.

Make Mine A Unicorn is the sixth book in the ‘Mated by Chance’ series. This stars Roscoe, an Alpha human, and Harley, an omega unicorn. This is told in first person from both Roscoe and Harley’s povs.

I haven’t read the first five books in the series, but I didn’t have a problem following along. It does look like previous characters from another book show up, but they don’t have much of a part in this one so I think this can be read as a stand-alone. This is a super-fluffy read. If you like sweet stories, this is like cotton candy, and even if the book doesn’t center around Valentine’s Day, you could read it then because it’s so sugary sweet.

Here's a brief run-down of the plot. Harley is lonely and is looking for friends. Unicorn shifters are rare and mythical, so other shifters look at them with caution and stay away from them. Roscoe also leads a lonely life as a writer of jingles for commercials and the like. Lately he’s been obsessed with drawing pictures of a pink, sparkly unicorn. Funny enough, both Roscoe and Harley meet two mysterious people. A Mr. Lucas, who is a dragon shifter, and Harry, a fae with bright blue hair. They have a way of setting up an accidental meeting between Roscoe and Harley in the library. From that point it’s about Roscoe learning about shifters, about Harley being the unicorn Roscoe has drawn, and mating and having a child.

The writing style is basic. Description is minimal and doesn’t delve deeply into any scene, just enough to let readers know what is happening, then on to the next event. The writing almost feels like a slightly more fleshed out version of a draft because it’s simple.

As to the characters they were okay. It would have been nice if we learned more about Mr. Lucas and Harry, but they’re written as secretive characters who magically get things done. Roscoe wasn’t your typical Alpha. Most Alphas in A/B/o stories I’ve read tend to have a stronger personality than the omega. In this book, Roscoe’s personality was like Harley’s. In fact, they were so much alike, I kept getting confused with whose pov I was reading from, even though the authors labeled the chapters. The character names were distinct, so keeping the characters separate shouldn’t have been a problem. Unfortunately, the voices for both Roscoe and Harley were the same. I’d suggest the authors work on creating distinct voices for their characters. It would avoid confusion and make the characters more interesting. Nothing about the characters stick out in my mind to make them unique.

Make Mine a Unicorn is a super sweet, quick read, and can be read as a stand-alone. This story doesn’t have much depth, and Roscoe and Harley have the same voice so they aren’t unique. This is an okay read, but not something I’d re-read or necessarily recommend unless you’re looking to rest your brain after an angsty story. I give this book, 3 Stars.

Harley & Roscoe

I really enjoy this series. Each time Mr Lucas and his nephew, Harry, match a new couple it is always a sweet story. This one was no different. I can't wait for the next book.

This is book six of the Mated by Chance series and the main characters are human alpha Roscoe, who works from home writing jingles for adverts, and Harley, an omega unicorn shifter, who was raised by a woman who found him abandoned as a baby. This woman, who he called Gran, was a wolf shifter and when he first shifted into a unicorn, she was shocked and things were never the same between them. When he left home he soon found out that unicorn shifters were a very rare occurrence and were viewed somewhat differently from other shifters, not quite welcome in any setting. He loved drawing form an early age and now makes his living as a book illustrator, also working from home. His home is a cabin in a remote part of the woods, a ways out from the small town of Riverford. He visits town occasionally to pick up supplies as needed, but he is more comfortable in the wilds, where it is far more peaceful and his animal can be free. Although he did inadvertently show his unicorn to a human, down by the river, who is mated to a river otter.

When he goes into his favourite café for a drink and some cake, he is happily sitting at his table, when an old man and his younger, blue haired companion interrupt. The old man is called Mr Lucas, whilst the quieter young man is Harry and supposedly his nephew. Harley has been feeling quite lonely, feeling the loss of not having a family of his own, or friends he could consider close to family. Mr Lucas talks to him a while and when they ask him to meet them at the local library at a set time the next morning, he thinks he has maybe finally made some friends. He knows Mr Lucas is some sort of shifter, but isn’t sure what Harry might be, maybe fae. Roscoe has been obsessed by drawing unicorns for months now, not just any unicorn, but exactly the same one each time. It has taken over his dreams and even stopped him from working on his jungles, as all he can think about is unicorns. Out in town, he stops for a drink and snack and the woman at the next table sees his sketch and tells him there are tales of a unicorn being seen in the woods outside of town. She herself has even seen a dragon flying overhead. She tells him the library has lots of information of unicorns and he should check it out.

He end sup at the library and is drawn to the section of folklore and legends, but before he gets too settled in, a quiet voice suggests the book that he is looking for is the one in Harry’s hand. Roscoe never saw them take it off the shelf, but the cover has the exact unicorn he has been drawing repeatedly. It seems they are able ot make things appear out of mid air, almost like magic, but that isn’t real, is it? Harley has been sitting around waiting for his hopefully new friends to show up, but they don’t. Angry, he isn’t looking where he is going and ends up crashing into Roscoe, who drops his sketches of unicorns. Harley is frightened that a human has somehow got all these sketches of him, and when Roscoe tries to tell him about the old man and Harry, he doesn’t believe him! When he runs out, the pair see Mr Lucas and blue haired Harry, in a moving truck heading out of town. They both follow in their own vehicles and Roscoe loses Harry’s trail by his parked car, with no houses in sight. Luckily there is a well-worn track to follow and he soon finds Harley’s small cabin. It is too late to try and drive back down the unmarked track, so he ends up on the sofa and the two talk into the night, as they watch a film. Harley’s unicorn has recognised Roscoe as their mate, but Harley knows he has to go slowly, since Roscoe is human.

It seems that Mr Lucas and Harry are possibly a bit of a pair of matchmakers somehow, using magic to get humans and shifters to meet by chance and bringing them together. It certainly works for Harley and Roscoe, with Harley suddenly finding out he has new neighbours in a magically appearing house that wasn’t there the day before! Lots of steam in the end of the tale, as Roscoe and Harley get to know each other better, sometimes interrupted by passers by, or Mr Lucas and his prompt invitations. It seems Harley has made the people connections he has been longing for and Roscoe has found love unexpectedly. What else Mr Lucas, his human mate Mrs Ambrose, and his nephew Harry, might get up to next will be interesting. I can’t wait to see who they manage to bring together next and how Roscoe and Harley’s family is going to continue expanding, with their own arrival coming suddenly enough! Harley may not have found more of his own kind, nor know much about them since he was abandoned as a baby, but he has found love, his mate and has a new family. All he could have asked for and more. Another short story but with lots of interactions and a bit of magic thrown in to get this couple to accidentally meet and fall in love. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Roscoe is a human alpha who works at home making jingles for advertising. Recently when he isn't working, he finds himself repeatedly drawing pictures of the same pink and silver unicorn. He has no clue why he is obsessed with unicorns all of a sudden. While he is at the diner, he gets in a weird conversation about unicorns and dragons. Roscoe is told that the town library might have more information. When he goes there, Roscoe meets two strange individuals, Harry and Mr. Lucas. They feed him tea and cake in the library and no one notices. They leave behind a book with the same picture of the unicorn that he has been drawing. Later Roscoe meets Harley at the library. Harley is the illustrator of the book Roscoe had in his hand. When they discover a big mystery about the book, they try to chase after Harry and Mr. Lucas. They end up at Harley's home. Roscoe is very attracted to Harley but he is sooo confused.

Harley is an omega unicorn shifter. His adopted grandmother made him feel that he didn't fit in with any of the other shifters since he is mythical. He lives most of his life in isolation, seldom going into town. One day on his rare trip to town, he stops at the diner. Two strange men come up to him and start up a conversation. Harley realizes that Mr. Lucas is probably a dragon and Harry is a fae. Harley hopes that these two will become his friends so he won't be so lonely. He agrees to meet them at the library the next day. When he arrives at the library, he he doesn't find Harry and Mr. Lucas but he does scent his human alpha mate. Even stranger, Roscoe is holding a book he illustrated with his own image as a unicorn. The picture on the back has Harry and Mr. Lucas as authors and Harley knows that isn't true. He is determined to find out what exactly what is going on and he taking his mate with him.

This is the 6th book in the Mated by Chance series. Roscoe is an alpha and he has been dreaming of and drawing a beautiful, pink hued unicorn. Harley is a beautiful and rare pink, glittery unicorn omega shifter. It takes a wise, but wiley dragon shifter to get these two to have their meet cute. Once they meet, they are inexplicably drawn together, but they are meant to be.

This was a cute and funny little romance about super rare shifter who is afraid of humans and shifters alike because of his rarity and the human alpha with whom he is destined to fall in love with. It was funny when Roscoe met Mr. Lucas in the library and how he ate the cake and tea and of course, Harley had a hard time believing Roscoe, because who would ever eat in a library?? You would think with how Harley is a mythical creature that he could have just a little faith in his alpha. The irony was strong with this one. It was endearing to see two recluses stepping out of their comfort zone and falling into each other's orbits. I loved watching them fall in love.

Oh, sweet Harley just wants a friend or two and happens to meet Mr. Lucas and Harry. Roscoe just wants more information about unicorns and find out why he is dreaming of them as well as drawing a specific one all the time. He too meets the magical duo as well as Mrs. Ambrose (so happy she is part of the team now). As the trio works their magic, omega and alpha meet but in this instance the omega runs away. This is not typical, but our sweet unicorn does not realize he has met his mate at first due to how his type of beast is treated by other shifters and his mate is human. Will they be able to overcome their meeting and find their HEA? Has Harley found a family to love him regardless that he is a mythical shifter? Get this next installment of the series and find out if this one ends with joy as the previous ones did, hint: I will say yes!.

This is book #6 in the Mated By Chance series. You can enjoy it as a stand alone but you will get even more enjoyment if you read the entire series. This is the story of Roscoe and Harley. Roscoe is an alpha and a music jingle writer. He is introverted and can't understand why his mind is continually focused on unicorns. Especially pink and silver ones. Harley is an omega unicorn shifter and a book illustrator. Harley has a lonely life. Unicorn shifters aren't readily accepted into the shifter world. And he doesn't have any unicorn friends to ask for help. He desperately wants friends and someone to love. This is their story. With the help of Mr. Lucas and his nephew Harry, both end up with what they desperately wanted and needed. This story if well written and easy tor read. I found it fun to read. I really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.

Finding Each Other (with a little help) . . .

Harley is a rare omega unicorn shifter who is lonely. Unicorns are not readily accepted in the shifter community. They are just too different. So meeting Mr. Lucas, a dragon shifter, and his nephew Harry, Harley is delighted to encourage their friendship. They plan to meet up at the library, and Harley uses the time to browse.

Roscoe is an Alpha who finds himself continuously doodling unicorns on scraps of paper. He is not sure what is focusing him on unicorns, so he heads to the library to read up on them. Mr. Lucas and Harry fill him with stories about unicorns. And as he continues to wander the library, he bumps into Harley, spilling his bag of unicorn drawings which panics Harley. Neither realize they have found their mate. Will Roscoe find Harley again to talk this out? Will he convince him that he wants to be more than just his “friend”? Are the two ready to accept a HEA together?

Alpha Roscoe, a music jingle writer, finds his introverted life suddenly overrun with thoughts of a pink and silver unicorn. Harley, an omega illustrator and unicorn shifter, leads a lonely life as unicorn shifters aren’t readily a part of the shifter community, and would love to have a family and make friends. Roscoe and Harley each encounter a mysterious pair of matchmakers who help lead Roscoe to Harley. The meeting between the two is so sweet and funny – loved the trash can and the truck chase. Harley is so cute as he tries to explain to Roscoe about shifters. Fun to learn more about the matchmakers and to have Finlay, Julian and Odie back. Sweet, romantic MM read with a side of hot and steamy action!

Harley is an omega unicorn shifter who is lonely and wants to make some friends. While he is in town, he meets up with Mr Lucas, and his nephew, Harry, who arranged to meet him at the library, the next day. Meanwhile, Roscoe is a human, he has an obsession with unicorns all of a sudden and he is also feeling lonely and wanting to meet someone for himself, while he is at the library, he meets Mr Lewis and Harry and they give him a book about unicorns. On the way out from the library he bumped in to Harley and from there on these two realise that Mr Lucas and Henry were playing matchmaker, and they realise they were mates and went on to have a happily ever after.

I was given a copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

Harley and Roscoe are both solitary, artistic people who work from home. Roscoe is an introvert and fairly content with his life, although he's a bit flustered with his sudden infatuation with drawing a mythical unicorn. Harley is very lonely, he has no family and is solitary because other shifters tend to stay away from him due to him having a mythical beast inside.
This book was entertaining, it is a quick read with two likeable characters who have a bit of a bumpy start, the mysterious Mr. Lucas and his nephew Harry, laughs - some due to cheesy lines, found family, new friends, passionate encounters, love, and a sweet HEA.

You gotta have friends. Alpha Roscoe takes a mental break and starts drawing Unicorns,. Realizing he may be in a dry spell, he decides to do some research at the local library and meets Mr Lucas and his nephew, Harry. Harley, is an Omega Unicorn shifter. He lives an isolated life in self preservation. He is a book illustrator, so he can work from home avoiding social interactions. xHe is lonely and longs for a shifter friend. Mr Lucas and Harry, bump into Harley, start a conversation and agree to meet later. Instead Harley bumps into Roscoe. Can Harley feel comfortable with a human? Can Roscoe accept a mystical creature and embrace the paranormal? Will Harley find friends? Sweet story. Nicely done, nice art work. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Being a unicorn shifter isn't so easy. Omega Harley is proof of that. He just wants to be happy with a mate and good friends.
No other mate could fit what Harley needed better than alpha human, Roscoe. His adoring fascination with unicorns was indeed contagious.

Meeting one another by have appeared on the surface as by chance, but soon realize it was the handy work of the obvious two. From there, their fated love continued to blossom and give me all the feels for these two and their expanded family.

Mr. Lucas and Harry have done it again! Working their magic for another deserving couple.

Lots of love and a happily ever after!

ROSCOE AND HARLEY

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Harley is a unique unicorn shifter as he can communicate with his beast. He is lonely as he has been a unicorn shifter with no family except for an elderly wolf-shifter who feared him. Roscoe is a lonely human who keeps dreaming of a particular pink and silver unicorn. This story brings back Harry and Harry’s uncle, Mr. Lucas. I love the way the two meet and the story takes off without lingering about their relationship and giving a little more detail about Mr. Lucas and Harry. Of course, the baby makes it a perfect story.

Mr. Lucas and Harry are at it again. Will Roscoe and Harley find what they are looking for?? Roscoe is a human alpha living alone and writing jingles for advertisements. Roscoe is drawing in his free time now. Roscoe draws pictures of a pink and silver unicorn. Roscoe goes to the library to research unicorns and runs into Mr Lucas and Harry. Roscoe is excited to have a book that looks like the unicorn he drew. What will Roscoe do when he finds out Unicorns are real?????? Will Harley get the family he is looking for???.

Harley went to a coffee shop when he took a break on illustrations for authors going to town met a couple that thought he should go to the library the next day. Roscoe and Harley ran into each other but Harley didn’t believe what Roscoe said so he left but Roscoe chased him down and figured it all out. Good book!.

Roscoe and Harley story was a sweetly endearing fun read about an unicorn and a human pairing and how Lucas matched them.
I really adored the way they met, the way Roscoe anticipated him and how easily accepted Harley shifted side.
I liked the little community like family those two made with Mr Lucas, and some old characters.
I liked their courtship and the way their relationship bloomed as well as their little bundle of joy.
I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

Lovely addition to this series . Mr Lucas and Harry matchmaking again.
Both Harley and Roscoe are lonely and just want to have friends. Roscoe is obsessed with unicorns, but does not know why. He is constantly drawing them. He knows they are mythical creatures, but.
Harley and Roscoe meet in the library after agreeing to meet Mr Lucas and Harry, but there is no sign of them.
Their conversation was stilted at first Harley wondering how Roscoe got the book and had drawing of him.
Their connection was strong but Harley had to know if Roscoe would be ok with his unicorn?
Thoroughly enjoyed

I enjoyed that! I love how Roscoe was so accepting of the mate bond considering he isn’t a shifter. I still can’t fully wrap my head around the mechanics of MPREG but it doesn’t really bother me as much.

For Harley being a unicorn is already tough figuring out how to make friends was definitely a challenge. Good thing he had people looking out for him.

This story is pretty straightforward and uncomplicated. HEA guaranteed and merry early. Loved it!.

This sweet and very enjoyable...almost sugary but not really...I will say I was shocked when we got these two artistic guys behind closed doors all that dirty talk...LOL. So glad that Harley and his beautiful beast doesn't have to be alone and he has his mate in Roscoe and found family. I did get a subtle vibe from Mr. Lucas tho...not as cheery but a little more subdued and serious....hmmm but I'm loving his matchups and can't wait til the next one.

Mr. Lucas and Jasper keep their matchmaking up and this time Roscoe and Harley are an Unicorn shifter and human who are set up to find thier fated and are of 'to the races' towards their hea.

Unicorns haunt your dreams. But they're not real, are they?

They're back! Mr. Lucas and Harry are back and up to their old matchmaking tricks. I just love this series. This book is amazing...just what I needed. It is a sweet, sexy, makes you feel good all over book. Dreams do come true. Especially when Fate intervenes. I was caught up in the magic from the beginning. This story will ensnare you, too. Literally running into the unicorn from your dreams smacks of Fate. Never mind Mr. Lucas and Harry's meddling. You are simply gonna love this book! You need to Get It Now!.

This is my first book in the Mated By Chance series, and I really liked the premise of the story, with Roscoe drawing unicorns for no explicable reason and meeting Harley through mysterious strangers. Their path to HEA was sweet and there was plenty of heat. I just wished that there had been more background on the three strangers that brought Harley and Roscoe together.

Two matchmakers, two single men, and a bit of magic come together in this story. It's full of brilliant imagery, as is fitting because one of the men is an artist and it's the way both the main characters see the world.

What makes friendship? A relationship? What is coincidence? Is there such a thing? What is magic? Is it real, or is it the way we see things? Maybe it's both.

Roscoe, a jingle writer, has found himself being creative in another way recently. He has been creating drawings of a beautiful unicorn over and over again. But they don't exist right? When he goes to the library he runs into Harley he finds out that some things are not just myth. Kudos to Mr. Lucas and his nephew Harry who once again play a role in yet another story with a HEA.

I have been in love with the Mated By Chance series from the start and always so excited when a new one comes out. I just love the matchmaking capabilities of the mysterious Mr. Lucas and his blue-haired nephew and how the couple of each book is brought together by them. I loved that Harley is an omega unicorn (I come across so few unicorns!) Roscoe is a human alpha who loves unicorns. Their first meeting was not a meet-cute as Harley runs away. A fun read. 4 stars

This was my first unicorn shifter, and I was very so glad I chose to read it!

This writing team has another sweet and steamy book with this one.

This is the story of omega unicorn shifter Harley, and his fated human mate Roscoe. While the first meeting doesn't go as planned, fate will work its magic and bring them together for another shot.

Loved it!.
