This was alright and I would say if you have KU then maybe give it a go...

description

But some of the plot felt a bit rushed, and the quick romance went from I'm going to kill you to damn I love you in seriously less than 7 days. Also,

Plus I liked that the couple wasn't shy about their sex life and all, but sometimes the convos just felt goofy or corny. Like if I don't have to read the phrase "horn spanked" again I think I'll be fine.

description

I did like though that Blue was a little out there- pretty mouthy, def stabby, and surprisingly Dom in the relationship too- I feel like I don't get to read that dynamic often.

Might read on but we'll see.

I'm still a huge fan of Johns' books and I was therefore very excited when I managed to get an arc for this one. Johns has created an incredibly complex world and almost all (if not all!) of her stories are in some way connected and taking place in the same universe. We already met one of the Demons in the Rebel Gods series and ever since then I was quite excited to dive into the demon realm. And I was pleasantly surprised!

Since Johns is one of my auto-read authors I don't read the blurbs of her books anymore. If I see her name on the cover, I know that I want and need that book. I could therefore just dive into the book and enjoy the ride. And what a wonderful and amazing ride it has been. If the writing style of Johns' other books wasn't for you, you might want to give this book a chance anyway. The writing is still good, but a little less emotional and therefore easier to follow.

I also think, compared to the other books, that the plot in this book is way more prominent and that the characters have way more focus on their goals and what they are actually trying to achieve in this world. Which doesn't mean we're not getting to see everything this world has to offer, because we are. Johns show us, in a very natural way, the dangers and all the politics and she makes sure to introduce us to some very demon specific customs and traditions.

Despite the fact that the plot is a little more prominent and despite the fact that the writing is a little less emotional, the characters are still the true stars of the story. I love how both characters feel realistic and developed from the start. They both have a history, a story to tell, a complete and intriguing personality and I love how Johns makes sure that even though there is some tension these characters are eventually a perfect fit.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Blue & her twin sister - Skye have been brought up in a town where folks are taken by Demons. Mainly as part of an agreement to keep the peace. Only things don't go according to plan. Blue ends up with Demon - Sol and that's when things get complicated. I loved Blue and Sol's dynamic and banter together. The way that they have to rely on each other more so when they're in the Underworld. This was a brilliant read and I really enjoyed reading it

This is one hell of a read! Well written I fling myself drawn into Blue’s world as she tries to stay alive and find her twin sister. It’s gripping, exciting and pulls you in as we watch her get closer and closer to Sol prince of the underworld. It’s a captivating read full,of adventure, danger, drama and desire. The characters are strong and their chemistry is waaaaaay of the charts. Can they work together to find Skye before the 7 days run out, will Blue want to escape the demon realm?? This had me hook, line and sinker and anxious to read more.

Blue has lived her life loving one person, her twin and hating all things demon because they just take and take. Then one night, her entire life changes because of a case of mistaken identity. What happens when not everything is as it seems? Can you fall in love with the very thing you hate? Is everything she has been told her entire life the full truth, or is there more at play here? And then we have Sol.... how can you not fall for him..... and what exactly is going on in his world. Is there anyone or anything real in this world?
I can't wait to read the next book.

I think there is a new trend in town for the paranormal books—they are not what they appear. That, or I got baffled by two newly released books two days in a row (one of them being Wolfed: Cursed by Love by Leia Stone).

This book surprised me because the cover and the description (blurb) were indicative that this book would fit right into the usual stream of paranormal books: a bad boy in a enemies-to-lovers clash with the warrioress protagonist. But, hold and behold! It did not!

I had wanted to gorge myself on some fast food of a book and instead I got a salad packaged in a hamburger wrap. (This is my roundabout way of saying that it was, in fact quite tame romantic-wise and very charged plot-wise).

The dramatic moment in the book clung to one point in the book: the protagonist had to save her sister in six days and for them both to get out of hell before they would be trapped there forever. All the while she was undercover in hell as the fated-mate of one of Hell`s Princes.

Quote:

“It’s my sixth day in the shadows of the demon underworld, and tomorrow, will be my last chance to find my sister and escape it, or else I’ll forget my human life forever.”

Sincerely, for the tone that this book had, I would have expected it to be a YA. I mean, the relationship was cordial and the “sexy” bits were kept to a minimum. There were even some moments in which certain behavior patterns were flagged as wrong or worthy of questioning:

“Has no one explained to him about toxic relationships?”

Overall, the book was satisfactory. But, if I am honest with myself, I do not think I would read the next book in this installment anytime soon.

I read all four books in this series and this review is going to cover all of them.

Why?

Because they are all pretty much the same book.

MF
KU
2.5-3 stars
Finished series
Romance w HFN
All the mmcs have trauma.
All the fmcs are baddass Bettie’s.

The good? Fun plot. Interesting characters overall.

The bad? there are a sum total of 4🥴🤦🏻‍♀️🤣One fmc is a bad ass. One fmc is sweet but not sweet. One MMC is broken but not really. One MMC is a bad ass but likes to bottom. Just go ahead and accept that one of those descriptions is gonna cover the characters in each book. Even as new main characters are added. They are carbon copies.

The good?
The way each story ties to the next and ends with the final book…love that type of series. Where you get each couple’s love story but an arc of a bigger story along the way. Pair that with PRN and ya sold me.

The bad?

It felt at times like there was a good bit of copy and paste happening thru the series. For me to even catch on means it is copious bc I tend to speed read.

The author would copy/paste and then change one or two words. From what characters said to what they prefered to wear to their hair color. Every fmc was blonde. Maybe one was dark blonde? Every mc had dark hair.

A few of the fmcs really fucking loved pant suits and hated dresses. One character is enough.
We get it. Pants suit rock and dresses suck.
Whatever.
The author’s obsession w pant suits was well expressed within this series. 🤣

Each book was random in terms of spice. Book one had the most. But all of them are low to medium ish spice.
Each book followed a story path.
Each book had a set of love interests who battled thru the same exact things with little changes here and there.

Look. This type of series w a plot like this can be hard bc the art of tying a long arc plot like that together is some high level shit. She wasn’t horrible at it either. Truly.

I would have loved to see more consistency and more variety w characters. I know we have two sets of blonde twins but can ya throw a brunette set in instead? 🤣🤣It was Sweden up in there.

Anyhoo. If you have KU it might be worth a read esp if you need an easy and fast finished PRN MF series to read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

My Demon Fire, the first book in the Rebel Demoms series by Rosemary A Johns, was a fabulous dip into an extraordinary fantasy/paranormal world full of demon shifters, intrigue, myths and tons of action that’s all wrapped up in a fantastic tale brought on by one fateful night and a case of mistaken identity.

In a world where demons come forth from the demon underworld to choose from humans that are essentially held captive in a town by brands, two twins will soon find that their birthday celebration will not go as planned and chaos ensues…along with the perfect premise for an enemies to lovers fake relationship romance!

Blue is the ultimate warrior queen: full of spunk, fierce and ferocious as can be! So when her twin sister is stolen by demons, she’s definitely not one to back down and is willing to do anything to save her sister—even if that means getting ready to kick some demon butt…or pretend to be the demon prince’s fated mate…

I absolutely loved this story! Blue and Sol’s chemistry is off the charts and full of steam and pure fire and all the twists along the way to keep you guessing were pure perfection! I loved seeing their connection form and just could not get enough of them and their story and can’t wait for more from this world and for Skye’s story!

This one is for sure a definite must read for any fan of hot, possessive demon royalty, fierce heroines not afraid to hold their own and a delicious twist on a classic myth that involves the perfect case of mistaken identity!

"O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!" - Walter Scott

Blue is alone in this world, with the exception of her twin sister Skye. Skye, who is the opposite of Blue in every emotional way, yet holds the other half of Blue's soul. Skye's the only one who can keep Blue sane. When Skye is taken, all HAIL will break loose...

“You are different. Plus, broken. There’s a fire burning in you. It’s irresistible. I wish to consume it and feel it sear me. Don’t you want to brand me with your anger?” - Sol

Sol, prince of the Underworld, captive of his father's demands, finally free to mingle among the humans on The Hill... Captivated by Skye, Sol is determined to make her his own....

"But running won’t help. It never does. It’s too late.
The real demons.
Are.
Coming.
Someone has been selected as a sacrifice. Tonight, a human will be stolen. The demons are here." - Blue

Rosemary A. Johns weaves a masterful tale, one that immediately captivates and seduces you into reading just...one...more...page. Fraught with danger and desire; both enthralling and intriguing, this book will provide hours of entertainment.

My Demon of Fire is a tasty twist of a story. Talk about mistaken identity combined with fated mates! I loved it! Skye and Blue are identical twins. It's their birthday, and they know that tonight, the demons will be coming for their "sacrifice." Well, when Skye gets taken, Blue is determined to get her sister back - one way or another. She's had enough of how things have been and intends to bring about change.
Well, things go left when her "surprise gift" from her sister mistakes her for her sister. Oops! Now, they have to "fake it till they make it" or find themselves in even deeper trouble than they already are in. Sounds like a recipe for disaster right? Well, more like a recipe for chaos and shenanigans. LOL!
I enjoyed this book so much. I love how much Blue cares for her sister that she's willing to do whatever it takes. The ups and downs make this story enjoyable from beginning to end. The characters are engaging and the storyline kept me page-turning to the end. I was a bit disappointed that this book is a stand-alone, but it was a lot of fun to read nonetheless. I am looking forward to the next book in this series with the next demon the author has in mind.
I'm rating this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Skye and Blue are identical human twins living in a town that demon’s come to snatch and steal those chosen. On the night of their 21st birthday, Skye is taken. Skye’s birthday present to Blue is her music teacher, Sol. Only Sol is not who everyone thinks he is! When Blue summons a demon in an attempt to find and save her sister, Sol appears. He will travel with her to the Underworld as long as she plays Skye, his true Soul Bond. Once there, the two will fight attempts on their lives, sacrifice and love one another. They have seven days to find Skye and return to their home or be stuck there forever. Along the way, we will read about several others from previous books by Rosemary Johns. I keep thinking her latest series is my favorite until I start reading the newest ones. I truly am already in love with this new series! Continue reading about her Rebel Demons now…it full of action, heat, love, deception, kink, and adventure!

Review My demon of fire
Auteur: Rosemary A. Johns
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Publisher: Independently published (April 26, 2022)

Summary:
Blue and Skye are twin sisters and look really alike. Only Skye is the unknowingly fated mate of a hot dragon shifter, the Demon of Fire. When he abducts Blue instead of Skye on their birthday and takes her to the underworld he has no idea what he did and what they need to do to keep up appearances because if anyone finds out it will be the end of them.

Review:
The story is written from Blue’s perspective. Blue is one of the main characters and is a down to earth girl with a realistic view of the world. You just got to love her sarcasm. Another main character is Sol, prince of the underworld and Demon of Fire, super arrogant but also gorgeous.
It all starts in the hometown of Blue until the abduction takes place, the rest of the story happens in the underworld.
I couldn’t stop reading the book since it’s written in a pleasant way and the worldbuilding and description of characters is just so lively.
This book is the first book in the Rebel Demons series by Rosemary A. Johns.and I can’t wait for part 2 to come out so I can continue on this adventure.
I hadn’t read anything of this author before this book but I’m sure I will!

OMG! Yesss! My Demon of fire is the first book in the Rebel demons series. On the eve of Blue and Skye's 21st birthday, things went south. Blue and Skye are like ying and yang, they both make each other feel complete. All of a sudden, Blue's identical twin was taken by a demons while Blue was dealing with a case of mistaken identity. When she summoned a demon to help, it is the same demon who she was previously dealing with. They set out on a journey to rescue Skye. This does have a tiny cliffy, but you can read this as a standalone.

Okay, I love this book!! The banter, chemistry, action, it was all so fun! I was literally hooked from the very beginning. I have to say, i'm so excited we get to see Sol again. If you remember Sol from the Rebel Gods series, then you already know him. I seriously can't wait to see what happens next. I'm wondering if it's going to be Skye's story. I'm already hyped!

There’s lots of political intrigue, a heaping dose of snark, and plenty of spice. This is my first foray into the Rebel Universe. And while it references things that I think would be common knowledge if I had that previous experience, it made me feel closer to Blue to be able to learn these things with her. Right from the beginning, even though we know that Blue and Sol are going to be enemies by their very natures, the chemistry between them was enough to singe my fingers through the pages. They’re drawn to one another in spite of their best attempts otherwise. This was “fake relationship” in a way I had never considered before, and I loved where the author took it. I have fallen completely in love with Blue and Sol and I’m desperate to find out where the political machinations are going to eventually take them.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

A devilishly sarcastic romance read

Blue, the hard working twin, gets mistaken for her sister Skye at the academy ball by Sol, the hot professor. As the story progresses a deal is struck, they land in some muck, and getting the things they want will require a lot of luck. Rosemary A. Jonhs created a devilishly sarcastic romance read in My Demon of Fire. This world has drawn my in from the start. Ow the reader gets to see things from the demon side of things. I really hope that the author has plans for Maxton in addition to Blue and Skye.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

I loved this story. A definite case of mistaken identity with a little more to it since Blue is an identical twin. Everything she knows about The HILL (human world) and Demons who devour is from stories and when her twin is taken she does what she has to in order to try to save her twin. She voluntarily goes to the Underworld but never dis she think she'd fall in love. I loved the banter between her and Sol and how they fell in love while they were playing pretend in a dark and dangerous world. I can't wait to read the next book to see what's next for Sol, Blue and Skye.

First read by Rosemary A St John and it did not disappoint

I was instantly drawn in by Blue’s courage to do whatever it takes to get her twin Skye back. She was not afraid to be herself even if it didn’t win hearts. This enemies to lovers story hooked me and the spice kept my eyes racing over the pages. I was also glad that neither Blue or Sol tried to fight their budding love for each other. Even when Sol finds out Blue is not the Soul Bond he expected, he protects her and falls in love anyway.

I received and ARC of this book and it's a great start to the series! Love how Sol and Blue interacted. Different twists and turns in each chapter. The different characters and paranormals in this story are interesting, especially when you are not sure who to root for. But in the end, you feel the chemistry between Sol and Blue and want them together. Can't wait to see what happens to Skye in the next book!

Blue and Skye are twins who are as opposite as can be while together they are whole. When demons steal Skye, Blue does everything she can to find her including sacrificing herself. Sol is obsessed with Blue and his Soul Bond while thinking she's Skye. An exciting adventure awaits them both with twists and turns around every obstacle when the real truth comes out. Its a fight for their survival against and together.

This is the first book of the series and it is a fantastic start. The world building is fascinating and the characters are complex. Blue and Sol are truly soul bonded as they are both fiercely loyal, a little bloodthirsty and wickedly delicious together. I found the twists to be intriguing as you don’t really know who the bad guys are. This was a great book and I can’t wait until the next one comes out.

ooooo girl this book was a WILD ride. Blue reminds me a looooot of myself lol. She’s quirky with a fiery tongue and doesn’t take anything sitting down. I adore her!! When she ends up on her… travels….with Sol I really didn’t know what to expect but man was that ending perfect! I love the idea of soul bonds especially since this was quite a different case than the normal. I cannot wait for skye’s book!! Absolutely amazing!!!

This is an exciting start to a new series, I'm new to the author but thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be looking at her back catalouge.
I really liked all the twin stuff (I wont say more as I don't want to give spilers). I liked the way the characters developed and how their relationship developed. I enjoyed that this was a slightly different premise to most PNR books. I thoroughly enjoyed this and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Absolutely loved this book from the very first chapter. The world drew me in immediately and I adored Blue and her outlook on the world and especially her relationship with her sister Skye. I do wish we could have seen more of them together but hopefully in later books?

The way Sol and Blue were so drawn to each other (despite the mistaken identity) was so well written and I was rooting them them the whole time. The dynamic between the characters - and not just Sol and Blue - was done incredibly well.

A very rich world with a great story. Cannot wait for book 2!

Pro tip - don't read this when you need to be aware of your surroundings. People have been known to miss a couple of stops on the bus while getting lost in it.
....it's me. .....I'm people. 🙈 Needless to say - I LOVE this book! Stabby and Kitten are my new favorite anti-heroes. Hot demons, stabby girls, intrigue, rebellion and hellish plots - what's not to love?
Can't wait to see where the next one takes them!

Blue and Skye are twins who only have each other. Skye is a music student and Blue works to provide for them. At a school event demons show up and end up taking Skye. Blue has no choice but to go and rescue her so she decides to summon her own demon. Sol who says that Skye is his sol mate. The two of them are off to find her but they must pretend that Blue is Skye while in the demon realm. Can they find her and reunite. Can Blue and Sol fight the attraction that they feel.

You have no idea how well written and just sinfully delightful this book turned out to be for me.
The mystery, the twist and turns and all of the drama, just make this story all the more intriguing and entertaining. No way to tell you is lying and who is telling the truth, but boy will it be all the more fun to figure it out in the end. Topped with a time limit, this has serious heart racing thriller vibes. I am so excited for the next installment. Buy this book! Highly Recommended.

I had so much fun reading this book!
This is my first book by this author and i absolutely enjoyed it.
I loved how goofy the MMC was and at the same time wild and his demon like self.
The other part i enjoyed is that the FMC was a strong willed , opinionated, ready to fight chick that doesn't take any crap from anyone.
Also this book is fast paced and with a lovely world building by the author !
I truly can't wait to read more!

My Demon of Fire is book one of the Rebel Demons series by Rosemary A Johns. I loved this new series where demons come out from the underworld to take humans for an unknown purpose from a specific town where the humans are mysteriously branded from birth. Skye and Blue are twins, but the night of their birthday Skye is taken and Sol her music teacher proven he might not be all he seems. The chemistry, action, mystery combined with the twists and turns makes this one hell of a series starter!
