The Fall in Love Checklist is a superb blending of romcom, contemporary romance, and women's fic. It pulled at my heartstrings more than I imagined it could, especially considering the cover. But make no mistake, it's a feel-good book, and the cover is spot on—as are the writing, the humor, and the message.

Jack is swoony, but the breakout star here is Dany, who I absolutely fell in love with as she was falling in love with herself. Her character is a joy to read, and I laughed and cried right along with her. I also cringed a few times when she didn't, which made me love her even more.

I set out to find a new-to-me author, specifically a debut new-to-me author, and I hit the Jack-pot (pardon the pun) with Sarah Ready. She's definitely one to watch, and I can't wait for her sophomore follow-up, Hero Ever After, to release next month.

I usually don't read stories about cancer because it is too real and scary but I'm glad I've started this book because The Fall In Love Checklist is a story about friendship, personal growth, self love and yes unfortunately about cancer too.

As soon as Dany wakes up after a double mastectomy she is dumped by her fiancé so she has to find a new place where to live and she meets Jack. Unfortunately it turns out that Dany still has cancer and has to do some chemo. So she begins a fight against the disease and a journey to find her real self but she won't be alone because she will have a diverse group of friends and Jack by her side.

I've really enjoyed this novel, I loved the characters especially the "survivor" ladies because they made me laugh for most of the story with their tales and their actions.
I liked Sarah Ready's writing, she kept my atention throughout the book but I felt the ending a little rushed.

I absolutely recommend to read this book.

Clumsy writing, characters built on stereotypes and awkward dialogue are actually the highlights here. When these three fatal flaws barrel headlong into an ill-conceived plot, the result is a story as inane as it is implausible.

Here’s the worst offense committed by this author—instead of digging in and owning her characters, author Sarah Ready attempts to use cheap dialogue gimmicks to carry the weight of their individuality. This taints every page of what may have otherwise been at least a mediocre story. One woman says “bah” every single time she opens her mouth to speak. A youngster moves between roles, seemingly borne of the author’s inability to commit—portrayed as both a petulant girly girl and a tomboy with a two word vocabulary—“dude” and “bro”. In yet another iteration, the author attempts to give her an “impish” allure and infers that she is surely headed for a life of con games and crime.

In the end, rather than imbuing each player with distinct characteristics that are subtle and well placed—aspects of themselves to drive their actions—Ready instead brow beats the reader with her “dialogue-carnage”. This approach is hammered home in line after line making the reading stilted, amateurish and exaggerated.

Two stars for a coherent, albeit unlikely, plot.

Wow! What an emotional and beautiful story!

This story is about Danny and Jack. The two meet when Danny wakes up from her mastectomy after being diagnosed from breast cancer, Danny mistakes Jack for her fiancé, since she's still in a bit of a haze. However, when she realises that he is not who she thinks he is, she gets riled up and mad. However, things take an emotional turn when her actual fiancé turns up, and he dumps Daniella, stating that he cannot go through with the wedding. Danny's life takes a huge turn; she starts looking for a place to live although the new landlord is none other but Jack!!

I loved this story; you do not want to miss it!!

Umm Wow, just Wow. What a refreshing emotional roller coaster. Sarah Ready has written a beautiful story about a woman finding love, friends and herself along the way.

This is a story about Dany. Dany has always been afraid to be herself, she put herself into a mold of what everyone around her wanted her to be. Then her life drastically changed, and she realized she wanted more out of life.

This story is one that is going to stick with me for a long time. It’s not sappy but real and raw. You will be so enchanted by this story and it’s cast of characters you will not want it to end. I am so glad I took a chance on this new author to me and now I will be looking for more and more. Sarah Ready wrote this amazing story about thriving and surviving and I’m glad I got to read it!

I received this as an arc for my honest review

This book hit me right in my heart. I didn’t really expect to love it as much as I did. The cancer story hit to close to home and I found the characters a bit bland at the start. But reading on I couldn’t help falling for “the girls” and tears were spilled nearing the end. If you’re looking for a story that has the power to really move you then this is the one for you.

Daniella (“Dany”) has her eyes closed, but realizes she made it through her double mastectomy and things will be okay now. Her wedding is in three months and she will be healed. Despite doubts and fears trying to invade her thoughts, she pushes them away and looks to the miracle of surviving and continuing on. She drifts in and out of sleep, waiting for her fiancé Shawn to show up to visit her. Shawn assured her he would be there for her through it all and nothing would change. When she needs reassurance, still in her hazy anesthesia condition, he holds her hand and tells her she is beautiful. He comforts her and says all the things that bring back her confidence. But it’s not Shawn that is soothing her. Jack is visiting his sister and Dany, still groggy, believes Shawn is with her. When a gentle hand brushes her hair back off her forehead, she feels calluses on his fingertips and she forces herself to open her eyes. It wasn’t Shawn comforting her; it was a stranger!

Jack calms her down again as she thinks he is in her room. He held out his hand after introducing himself, but she is afraid to take it, afraid that flame she felt will kindle again. Then Shawn rushed up and shoved Jack’s hand away. He pulled the curtain closed and gave her a look like he tasted curdled milk, then he said he couldn’t do this. Then he told her he didn’t love her and didn’t want to marry her. He told her she was boring, had no ambitions. He said he doesn’t want to be saddled with a hothouse flower all his life. And he ignored the terrible pain he was causing, physical and emotional. She had asked twice for water and he ignored her. Telling her they needed him at the office, he walked out on her.

The curtain opens and Jack brings a small cup of water to her. And she turns the humiliation inside on him. Then her mother rushes in and actually starts blaming Dany for whatever she said to upset Shawn. She then proceeded to tell Dany that she looked “absolutely awful” and “poor Shawn”! She scolded Dany for not doing her hair and nails, and told her to imagine how that made Shawn feel! So her mother arranged a private room and a makeover for Shawn’s benefit. Shawn had already sent her things over to her parents’ house, never intending to care for her during convalescence, but her mother said she could not stay there because she and her father wanted privacy! When Dany told her she had nowhere to go, her mother called her selfish for wanting to infringe on her parents’ “alone time”. Dumped by her fiancé, no friends, no place to live, it all hits Dany at once. What is she going to do?

As she faces her new reality, Dany decides to stop being “boring” and do the unexpected. She has a ten step checklist of things she never dreamed she would ever do, and her sexy new landlord, Jack, determined to go through that list with her. Maybe by the end of it, Dany will discover that she is truly loved for who she is – by the man who stands beside her through the good times and bad.

This book is an emotional landmine, but it’s reassuring in the strength of the human spirit, in the love and support of others, and shows us to enjoy and value the life we are given. Dany’s callous and cruel fiancé and mother were over-the-top shocking. But there are others who gather around Dany and show their love. Hope shines through it all, and makes this a book you will want to read.

***3.5-4 STARS***

Cute and heartwarming…sometimes a bit silly but overall I enjoyed this book.

I did enjoy the message in this story which is to learn to love yourself before you can love anyone else. If people don’t like you for who you are, then they aren’t your people. This book shows the important growth that Dany goes through as she navigates a health scare, meets a man who really sees her, and becomes friends with a group of older women who open her eyes to friendship, love, and living your best life.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it certainly won’t be the last because Sarah Ready has given us a story that’s real, it features real live experiences and it touched me on so many levels.
This book starts with Dany waking up from surgery, thinking the man she is talking too is her fiancé but Jack is just a man in the shared room with his sister. Drifting in and out of sleep, Dany dreams of her wedding and surviving the cancer that meant she has just had a double mastectomy, what she didn’t expect is to wake up to Shawn her Fiancé breaking up with her.....
Jack is the real man in this story, he steps up to not only calm Dany down when the world and her mum seem to be against her but also offer her a place to stay when she realises she has nowhere to go. With a hot new landlord, Dany makes a ten step checklist of bucket list items to help her get through the chemo and to help her prove to herself that she is not a boring, unattractive woman.....
This book may start off with cruel and callous people in Dany’s life but it soon turns around to having people showering her with love. It’s a story about hope and strength, it’s about finding real love when you least expect it and it’s about finding new kind, caring friends. The Fall in Love: Checklist is a well written, heartfelt story from a very talented author who’s not afraid to write about real life.

This is not an easy story to read for me personally, as it hits close to home, but I am glad that I persevered and read this amazing tale. Dany get the diagnose that every woman dread and that is breast cancer. When she wakes up after a double mastectomy, and is at her weakest, her heartless fiancé comes to the hospital and breaks up with her and says some awful things, and her mom is just the icing on top of the cake. Needing a new place to stay Dany wants to change herself from boring and draws up a 10-point checklist which her landlord Jack is determined to go on this journey of self-discovery with her. This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, heart-wrenching, and a poignant love story. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend her work.

This is the first book by a new author. I love RomCom and the description alone made me buy the book. I can say I was not disappointed! The story catches you from the first paragraph and you immediately want to read more. The characters are very likable and you start rooting for them from the start. There are some sad moments due to the medical side and I cried more than once, but I laughed more times than I can count. I truly hope to see more from this author as this is an amazing first novel.

Wow, when you expect your nearest and dearest to provide some compassion due to cancer but then they turn around and act like self entitled jerks, it really hits home just who you can depend on. An emotional roller coaster of epic proportions and terribly sweet with a few funny , feel good moments. Dany was totally awe inspiring and so relatable and Jack was everything you need in a friend and lover. Just make sure to have tissues handy and prepare to shed a few tears.

3.5 stars - I really liked the idea of this book, a romance with a woman who is going through chemo. The book starts off with our main character Dany, waking up from surgery and thinking that the man she is talking too is her fiancé but it's not. Jack is in the shared room with his sister when he Dany starts to wake up and instantly takes a liking to her. Soon after Dany realizes her mistake her real fiancé comes in and breaks up with her saying he can't deal with her having cancer, then her mother says she can't stay with her either. Through a series of events Dany ends up renting a room from Jack and his sister, from there Dany struggles with her feelings for Jack and dealing with her cancer. I really liked the romance between Jack and Dany, it never felt forced and I thought it was really sweet. I think my favorite part was the other relationships in this book. While Dany is going trough chemo she sits with the same group of ladies and I loved their growing friendship with each other. The relationship between Jack and his sister was also great! If you are looking for a different type of romance that still has a HEA then I would recommend this one, just be warned it does deal with some heavy topics. Thank you Enticing Journey for my complimentary copy in exchange for my review.

I really enjoyed this new author's release, and this one included a topic not often covered in romance novels.

Dani is a twenty-something who has just had a mastectomy. As she wakes from the surgery, she meets Jack and confuses him for her fiancé. When the real fiancé finally arrives, he dumps her and leaves wondering what to do next. She quickly realizes that she's tired of the life she's been living and pleasing every but herself so she makes a list of all the adventures she wants to try.

Jack has his own drama, has just lost a major renovation project, and is trying to raise his rebellious sister. While he's working on the home he's currently repairing, a new tenant has arrived to rent the upstairs apartment. He realizes it is Dani, and although instantly fell for her in the hospital, he tries to keep his distance and use her for his connections to his project.

While the story is about Dani and Jack, its also about her relationship with the other women she meets while undergoing chemo treatments.

Well written, authentic, and filled with heart, I can't wait to see more from this author.

I enjoyed this one! I loved the premise behind it. I liked the characters, but Dany needs a lot of getting used to. Just because of how she's still insistent to get her ex-fiancee back after she got dumped. That probably goes on up until half of the book. And Jack is also refusing to admit his feelings for Dany. So that kind of get a bit frustrating at times. I loved Dany's chemo session friends. It got a little bit sad there for a moment. But this is just a wholesome story. I was rooting for every single one of them.

Borrowed this from the library on a complete whim and I really wanted to like it but unfortunately it just was not for me. The ending was somewhat enjoyable but I found Dany really quite difficult. Also the Insta love was just too much for me.

In this there is this girl named Daniella who got breast cancer just prior to her marriage and had to go through breast surgery and after the surgery, when she came back to her consciousness she met a guy named jack who came to hospital because his step sister broke her nose. She thought he's shawn her fiance and said she loves him and all things will get better but was not her fiance, he's Jack and jack had love at first side for her. After the little conversation Shawn comes to her room to tell her that he doesn't love her and he doesn't want to marry her in front of all the patients.and cherry on cake is her mother also abandon her and told her find a place for herself. After the discharge Daniella has only one motive that is to get shawn back in her like and married him. but after a day or two she got to know that she hadn't completely cured from her cancer so she had to go through with chemotherapy and there she meet some people and release that she's not who she pretend to be and want to do the things she hadn't done before.
so she decided to make a checklist for herself and also find a place to live. coincidentally she ended up on the same roof with Jack and there they made a deal to help each other. For Jack it's a great opportunity to spend time with her. He loves her but is afraid to tell her because he lost his loved one and he thinks if he tells her that he loves her he'll lose her too.
When they both spend time on completing the checklist that she had made and enjoying their lives she reveals that she loves Jack but doesn't want to get rejected. therefore she didn't tell him what she feels for him.
I was so desperate at this point that I wanted to get in there and tell them both what they felt for one another.
When she was having her last chemotherapy shwan showed up again and he wanted them to get back. But she is happy with Jack but for how long because Jack is with her to complete her chicklist after that what? so decide to accept shawn marriage proposal and she told her chemo friends that she is going to accept shawn proposal they told her that she shouldn't be doing this because he's a douchebag and told her to express her feeling to jack, but she is afraid to do that so they had argument they on this and she told them some rude things and left it.
At the same night one of her chemo friend die and she is so sorry that she didn't even tell her how sorry she felt for all the rude things that she had said. At that time she realised that she was so caught up putting on a mask that she didn't know who she was until now.
Then she decided to reject Shawn's proposal and went to ask Jack to marry her, her story didn't end here. There are so many characters here who put life in this story. and you want to know did jack accept the daniella proposal, NO, he didn't accept it because if he accepts her proposal then her sister has to juveniles. but it doesn't mean her story ends here.

The heroine Dany has breast cancer and after her mastectomy her fiance dumps her. Jack, a stranger from the hospital saw the drama and she keeps meeting him afterwards. He appreciates her charms considerably more than her ex and Dany starts thinking about the ways that she suppressed her true self to try and please others. Dany meets a number of amazing women at her chemotherapy sessions and writes a bucket list that Jack helps her fulfill. I enjoyed this story.

This was my first of Sara Ready’s novels and it certainly won’t be my last. The book is written with spirit and delicacy, given the subject matter. Though routed in a serious plot, there was plenty of humour, even in the most difficult passages. I loved the characters, the relationships, and the dialogue. Really a great read and I fully intend to read all of this authors books ASAP!
